The maximal chains of the extended Bruhat orders on the (W x W)-orbits of an infinite Renner monoid

Let (W, S) be a Coxeter system. We investigate combinatorially certain partial orders, called extended Bruhat orders, on a (W x W)-set W(N,C), which depends on W, a subset N of S, and a component C of N. We determine the length of the maximal chains between two elements. These posets generalize W equipped with its Bruhat order. They include the (W x W)-orbits of the Renner monoids of reductive algebraic monoids and of some infinite dimensional generalizations which are equipped with the partial orders obtained by the closure relations of the Bruhat and Birkhoff cells. They also include the (W x W)-orbits of certain posets obtained by generalizing the closure relation of the Bruhat cells of the wonderful compactification.

A Monoid for the Universal K-Bruhat Order

Structure constants for the multiplication of Schubert polynomials by Schur symmetric polynomials are known to be related to the enumeration of chains in a new partial order on S_\infty, which we call the universal k-Bruhat order. Here we present a monoid M for this order and show that $M$ is analogous to the nil-Coxeter monoid for the weak order on S_\infty. For this, we develop a theory of reduced sequences for M. Bruhat-Chevalley order on the rook monoid

The rook monoid $R_n$ is the finite monoid whose elements are the 0-1 matrices with at most one nonzero entry in each row and column. The group of invertible elements of $R_n$ is isomorphic to the symmetric group $S_n$. The natural extension to $R_n$ of the Bruhat-Chevalley ordering on the symmetric group is defined in \cite{Renner86}. In this paper, we find an efficient, combinatorial description of the Bruhat-Chevalley ordering on $R_n$. We also give a useful, combinatorial formula for the length function on $R_n$.

The Rook Monoid is Lexicographically Shellable

We prove that the Bruhat-Chevalley-Renner order on the rook monoid is EL-shellable. We determine the homeomorphism type of the associated order complex.

On the Borel Submonoid of a Symplectic Monoid

In this article, we study the Bruhat-Chevalley-Renner order on the complex symplectic monoid $MSp_n$. After showing that this order is completely determined by the Bruhat-Chevalley-Renner order on the linear algebraic monoid of $n\times n$ matrices $M_n$, we focus on the Borel submonoid of $MSp_n$. By using this submonoid, we introduce a new set of type B set partitions. We determine their count by using the ``folding'' and ``unfolding'' operators that we introduce. Tamari lattices, forests and Thompson monoids

A connection relating Tamari lattices on symmetric groups regarded as lattices under the weak Bruhat order to the positive monoid P of Thompson group F is presented. Tamari congruence classes correspond to classes of equivalent elements in P. The two well known normal forms in P correspond to endpoints of intervals in the weak Bruhat order that determine the Tamari classes. In the monoid P these correspond to lexicographically largest and lexicographically smallest form, while on the level of permutations they correspond to 132-avoiding and 231-avoiding permutations. By explicitly describing a cellular decomposition we determine the Borel invariant cycles that generate the Chow groups of the quotient of a reductive group by a Levi subgroup. For illustrations we consider the variety of polarizations $\mbf{SL}_n / \mbf{S}(\mbf{GL}_p\times \mbf{GL}_q)$, and we introduce the notion of a sect for describing its cellular decomposition. In particular, for $p=q$, we show that the Bruhat order on the sect corresponding to the dense cell is isomorphic, as a poset, to the rook monoid with the Bruhat-Chevalley-Renner order.

Partial mirror symmetry, lattice presentations and algebraic monoids

$R$-polynomials of finite monoids of Lie type

This paper concerns the combinatorics of the orbit Hecke algebra associated with the orbit of a two sided Weyl group action on the Renner monoid of a finite monoid of Lie type, $M$. It is shown by Putcha in \cite{Putcha97} that the Kazhdan-Lusztig involution (\cite{KL79}) can be extended to the orbit Hecke algebra which enables one to define the $R$-polynomials of the intervals contained in a given orbit. Stirling Posets

We define combinatorially a partial order on the set partitions and show that it is equivalent to the Bruhat-Chevalley-Renner order on the upper triangular matrices. By considering subposets consisting of set partitions with a fixed number of blocks, we introduce and investigate "Stirling posets." Various partial orders related to the structures of dual canonical monoids are investigated. It is shown that the nilpotent variety of a dual canonical monoid is equidimensional; its dimension is found.
