Various aspects of the de Rham cohomology of Hopf algebras are discussed. In particular, it is shown that the de Rham cohomology of an algebra with the differentiable coaction of a cosemisimple Hopf algebra with trivial 0-th cohomology group, reduces to the de Rham cohomology of (co)invariant forms. Spectral sequences are discussed and the van Est spectral sequence for Hopf algebras is introduced. A definition of
Hopf-Lie algebra cohomology is also given.
We present results relating the Hopf cyclic cohomology of the Hopf algebra of moving frames with that of the DG Hopf algebra of moving coframes, analogous to the van Est isomorphism between Lie algebra cohomology and continuous group cohomology.
The Multiplier Hopf Group Coalgebra was introduced by Hegazi in 2002 [7] as a generalization of Hope group caolgebra, introduced by Turaev in 2000 [5], in the non-unital case. We prove that the concepts introduced by A.Van Daele in constructing multiplier Hopf algebra \cite{4} can be adapted to serve again in our construction. A multiplier Hopf group coalgebra is a family of algebras $A=\{A_α\}_{α\in π}$, ($π$ is a discrete group) equipped with a family of homomorphisms $Δ=\{Δ_{α,β}:A_{αβ}\longrightarrow M(A_α\otimes A_β)\}_{α,β\in π}$ which is called a comultiplication under some conditions, …
Motivated by the fact that the Hopf-cyclic (co)homologies of function algebras over Lie groups and universal enveloping algebras over Lie algebras capture the Lie group and Lie algebra (co)homologies, we hereby upgrade the classical van Est isomorphism to ones between the Hopf-cyclic (co)homologies of quantized algebras of functions and quantized universal enveloping algebras, both in $h$-adic and $q$-deformation frameworks.
We introduce Galois Theory for Hopf-Galois Extensions proving existence of a Galois connection between subalgebras of an H-comodule algebra and generalised quotients of the Hopf algebra H. Moreover, we show that these quotients Q which define Q-Galois extension are the closed elements of our Galois connection. We generalise important results of Hopf--Galois Theory of M. Masuoka and H.-J. Schneider by showing that there is a bijective correspondence between right ideals coideals and right coideal subalgebras of any finite dimensional Hopf algebra and we reformulate the still open problem in the…
A pseudo-Galois extension is shown to be a depth two extension. Studying its left bialgebroid, we construct an enveloping Hopf algebroid for the semi-direct product of groups, or more generally involutive Hopf algebras, and their module algebras. It is a type of cofibered sum of two inclusions of the Hopf algebra into the semi-direct product and its derived right crossed product. Van Oystaeyen and Panaite observe that this Hopf algebroid is non-trivially isomorphic to a Connes-Moscovici Hopf algebroid, which raises interesting comparative questions.
We study quasi-Hopf algebras and their subobjects over certain commutative rings from the point of view of Frobenius algebras. We introduce a type of Radford formula involving an anti-automorphism and the Nakayama automorphism of a Frobenius algebra, then view several results in quantum algebras from this vantage-point. In addition, separability and strong separability of quasi-Hopf algebras are studied as Frobenius algebras.
The classification of all Hopf algebras of a given finite dimension over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 is a difficult problem. If the dimension is a prime, then the Hopf algebra is a group algebra. If the dimension is the square of a prime then the Hopf algebra is a group algebra or a Taft Hopf algebra. The classification is also complete for dimension 2p or 2p^2, p a prime. Partial results for some other cases are available. For example, for dimension p^3 the classification of the semisimple Hopf algebras was done by Masuoka, and the pointed Hopf algebras were classified b…
In this paper a general van Est type isomorphism is established. The isomorphism is between the Lie algebra cohomology of a bicrossed sum Lie algebra and the Hopf cyclic cohomology of its Hopf algebra. We first prove a one to one correspondence between stable-anti-Yetter-Drinfeld (SAYD) modules over the total Lie algebra and SAYD modules over the associated Hopf algebra. In contrast to the non-general case done in our previous work, here the van Est isomorphism is found at the first level of a natural spectral sequence, rather than at the level of complexes. It is proved that the Connes-Moscov…
Like quantum groups, quantum groupoids frequently appear in pairs of mutually dual objects. We develop a general Pontrjagin duality theory for quantum groupoids in the algebraic setting that extends Van Daele's duality theory for multiplier Hopf algebras and overcomes the finiteness restrictions of the approach of Kadison, Szlachányi, Böhm and Schauenburg. Our construction is based on the integration theory for multiplier Hopf algebroids and yields, as a corollary, a duality theory for weak multiplier Hopf algebras with integrals. We compute the duals in several examples and introduce morphism…
In the present work, we study Yetter-Drinfeld algebras over a pairing of multiplier Hopf algebras. Our main motivation is the construction of a self-dual theory of (C*-)algebraic quantum transformation groupoids. Instead of the standard characterization of Yetter-Drinfeld algebras given in the case of Hopf algebras, we develop an equivalent "only coaction" characterization in the framework of multiplier Hopf algebras. Finally, as a special case, we focus on Yetter-Drinfeld structures over Van Daele's algebraic quantum groups.
We introduce a general construction that takes as input a so-called stiff PRO and that outputs a Hopf algebra. Stiff PROs are particular PROs that can be described by generators and relations with precise conditions. Our construction generalizes the classical construction from operads to Hopf algebras of van der Laan. We study some of its properties and review some examples of application. We get in particular Hopf algebras on heaps of pieces and retrieve some deformed versions of the noncommutative Faà di Bruno algebra introduced by Foissy.
In this article, we will define two canonical cohomology theories for Hopf $C^*$-algebras and for Hopf von Neumann algebras (with coefficients in their bicomodules). We will then study the situations when these cohomologies vanish. The cases of locally compact groups and compact quantum groups will be considered in more details.
Recently, important progress has been made in the study of finite-dimensional semisimple Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic zero. Yet, very little is known over a field of positive characteristic. In this paper we prove some results on finite-dimensional semisimple and cosemisimple Hopf algebras A over a field of positive characteristic, notably Kaplansky's 5th conjecture on the order of the antipode of A. These results have already been proved over a field of characteristic zero, so in a sense we demonstrate that it is sufficient to consider semisimple Hopf algebras over such a fiel…
A fundamental feature of quantum groups is that many come in pairs of mutually dual objects, like finite-dimensional Hopf algebras and their duals, or quantisations of function algebras and of universal enveloping algebras of Poisson-Lie groups. The same phenomenon was studied for quantum groupoids in various settings. In the purely algebraic setup, the construction of a dual object was given by Schauenburg and by Kadison and Szlachányi, but required the quantum groupoid to be finite with respect to the base. A sophisticated duality for measured quantum groupoids was developed by Enock, Lesieu…
To every Hopf heap or quantum cotorsor of Grunspan a Hopf algebra of translations is associated. This translation Hopf algebra acts on the Hopf heap making it a Hopf-Galois co-object. Conversely, any Hopf-Galois co-object has the natural structure of a Hopf heap with the translation Hopf algebra isomorphic to the acting Hopf algebra. It is then shown that this assignment establishes an equivalence between categories of Hopf heaps and Hopf-Galois co-objects.
For any graded bialgebras $A$ and $B$, we define a commutative graded algebra $A_B$ representing the functor of $B$-representations of $A$. When $A$ is a cocommutative graded Hopf algebra and $B$ is a commutative ungraded Hopf algebra, we introduce a method deriving a Gerstenhaber bracket in $A_B$ from a Fox pairing in $A$ and a balanced biderivation in $B$. Our construction is inspired by Van den Bergh's non-commutative Poisson geometry, and may be viewed as an algebraic generalization of the Atiyah--Bott--Goldman Poisson structures on moduli spaces of representations of surface groups.
We investigate a Hopf algebra structure on the cotensor coalgebra associated to a Hopf bimodule algebra which contains universal version of Clifford algebras and quantum groups as examples. It is shown to be the bosonization of the quantum quasi-shuffle algebra built on the space of its right coinvariants. The universal property and a Rota-Baxter algebra structure are established on this new algebra.
As is known to all, Hopf-Galois objects have a significant research value for analyzing tensor categories of comodules and classification questions of pointed Hopf algebras, and are natural generalizations of Hopf algebras with a Galois-theoretic flavour. In this paper, we mainly prove a criterion for an Ore extension of a Hopf-Galois algebra to be a Hopf-Galois algebra, and introduce the conception of Poisson Hopf-Galois algebras, and establish the relationship between Poisson Hopf-Galois algebras and Poisson Hopf algebras. Moreover, we study Poisson Hopf-Galois structures on Poisson polynomi…
Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra and let $\mathcal D_H$ be a Hopf-module category. We describe the cocycles and coboundaries for the Hopf cyclic cohomology of $\mathcal D_H$, which correspond respectively to categorified cycles and vanishing cycles over $\mathcal D_H$. An important role in our work is played by semicategories, which are categories that may not contain identity maps. In particular, a cycle over $\mathcal D_H$ consists of a differential graded $H$-module semicategory equipped with a trace on endomorphism groups satisfying some conditions. Using a pairing on cycles, we obtain a pairing …
In this dissertation we study the coefficients spaces (SAYD modules) of Hopf-cyclic cohomology theory over a certain family of bicrossed product Hopf algebras, and we compute the Hopf-cyclic cohomology of such Hopf algebras with coefficients. We associate a Hopf algebra, what we call a Lie-Hopf algebra, to any matched pair of Lie groups, Lie algebras and affine algebraic groups via the semi-dualization procedure of Majid. We then identify the SAYD modules over Lie-Hopf algebras with the representations and corepresentations of the total Lie group, Lie algebra or the affine algebraic group of t…
Elliptic current algebras E_{q,p}(\hat{g}) for arbitrary simply laced finite dimensional Lie algebra g are defined and their co-algebraic structures are studied. It is shown that under the Drinfeld like comultiplications, the algebra E_{q,p}(\hat{g}) is not co-closed for any g. However putting the algebras E_{q,p}(\hat{g}) with different deformation parameters together, we can establish a structure of infinite Hopf family of algebras. The level 1 bosonic realization for the algebra E_{q,p}(\hat{g}) is also established.
We prove a cyclic cohomological analogue of Haefliger's van Est-type theorem for the groupoid of germs of diffeomorphisms of a manifold. The differentiable version of cyclic cohomology is associated to the algebra of transverse differential operators on that groupoid, which is shown to carry an intrinsic Hopf algebraic structure. We establish a canonical isomorphism between the periodic Hopf cyclic cohomology of this extended Hopf algebra and the Gelfand-Fuchs cohomology of the Lie algebra of formal vector fields. We then show that this isomorphism can be explicitly implemented at the cochain …
We determine the Grothendieck ring of finite-dimensional comodules for the free Hopf algebra on a matrix coalgebra, and similarly for the free Hopf algebra with bijective antipode and other related universal quantum groups. The results turn out to be parallel to those for Wang and Van Daele's deformed universal compact quantum groups and Bichon's generalization of those results to universal cosovereign Hopf algebras: in all cases the rings are isomorphic to those of non-commutative polynomials over certain sets, these sets varying from case to case. In most cases we are able to give more preci…
We study the basic monoidal properties of the category of Hopf modules for a coquasi Hopf algebra. In particular we discuss the so called fundamental theorem that establishes a monoidal equivalence between the category of comodules and the category of Hopf modules. We present a categorical proof of Radford's $S^4$ formula for the case of a finite dimensional coquasi Hopf algebra, by establishing a monoidal isomorphism between certain double dual functors.
We construct a new type of quantum invariant of closed framed $3$-manifolds with the vanishing first Betti number. The invariant is defined for any finite dimensional Hopf algebra, such as small quantum groups, and is based on ideal triangulations. We use the canonical element of the Heisenberg double, which satisfies a pentagon equation, and graphical representations of $3$-manifolds introduced by R. Benedetti and C. Petronio. The construction is simple and easy to be understood intuitively; the pentagon equation reflects the Pachner $(2,3)$ move of ideal triangulations and the non-involutive…
We show that if $A$ and $H$ are Hopf algebras that have equivalent tensor categories of comodules, then one can transport what we call a free Yetter-Drinfeld resolution of the counit of $A$ to the same kind of resolution for the counit of $H$, exhibiting in this way strong links between the Hochschild homologies of $A$ and $H$. This enables us to get a finite free resolution of the counit of $\mathcal B(E)$, the Hopf algebra of the bilinear form associated to an invertible matrix $E$, generalizing an ealier construction of Collins, Hartel and Thom in the orthogonal case $E=I_n$. It follows tha…
We show that many noetherian Hopf algebras A have a rigid dualising complex R with R isomorphic to ^νA^1 [d]. Here, d is the injective dimension of the algebra and νis a certain k-algebra automorphism of A, unique up to an inner automorphism. In honour of the finite dimensional theory which is hereby generalised we call νthe Nakayama automorphism of A. We prove that ν= S^2\XXi, where S is the antipode of A and \XXi is the left winding automorphism of A determined by the left integral of A. The Hochschild homology and cohomology groups with coefficients in a suitably twisted free bimodule are s…
In this work, the notion of a twisted partial Hopf action is introduced as a unified approach for twisted partial group actions, partial Hopf actions and twisted actions of Hopf algebras. The conditions on partial cocycles are established in order to construct partial crossed products, which are also related to partially cleft extensions of algebras. Examples are elaborated using algebraic groups.
We prove that a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra with the dual Chevalley Property over a field of characteristic zero is quasi-isomorphic to a Radford-Majid bosonization whenever the third Hochschild cohomology group in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules of its diagram with coefficients in the base field vanishes. Moreover we show that this vanishing occurs in meaningful examples where the diagram is a Nichols algebra.
The nonsemisimple quantum Cayley-Klein groups $ Fun(SU_{q}(2;\bf j}) $ are realized as Hopf algebra of the noncommutative functions with the dual (or Study) variables. The {\it dual} quantum algebras $ su_q(2;{\bf j}) $ are constructed and their isomorphisms with the corresponding quantum orthogonal algebras $ so_q(3;{\bf j}) $ are established. The possible couplings of the Cayley-Klein and Hopf structures are considered.
We show that a Jordan-Hölder theorem holds for appropriately defined composition series of finite dimensional Hopf algebras. This answers an open question of N. Andruskiewitsch. In the course of our proof we establish analogues of the Noether isomorphism theorems of group theory for arbitrary Hopf algebras under certain faithful (co)flatness assumptions. As an application, we prove an analogue of Zassenhaus' butterfly lemma for finite dimensional Hopf algebras. We then use these results to show that a Jordan-Hölder theorem holds as well for lower and upper composition series, even though the f…
We define the "localized index" of longitudinal elliptic operators on Lie groupoids associated to Lie algebroid cohomology classes. We derive a topological expression for these numbers using the algebraic index theorem for Poisson manifolds on the dual of the Lie algebroid. Underlying the definition and computation of the localized index, is an action of the Hopf algebroid of jets around the unit space, and the characteristic map it induces on Lie algebroid cohomology. This map can be globalized to differentiable groupoid cohomology, giving a definition as well as a computation of the "global …
Motivated by the Hopf algebra structures established on free commutative Rota-Baxter algebras, we explore Hopf algebra related structures on free commutative Nijenhuis algebras. Applying a cocycle condition, we first prove that a free commutative Nijenhuis algebra on a left counital bialgebra (in the sense that the right-sided counicity needs not hold) can be enriched to a left counital bialgebra. We then establish a general result that a connected graded left counital bialgebra is a left counital right antipode Hopf algebra in the sense that the antipode is also only right-sided. We finally a…
The celebrated Milnor-Moore theorem and the more general Cartier-Kostant-Milnor-Moore theorem establish close relationships of a connected and a pointed cocommutative Hopf algebra with its Lie algebra of primitive elements and its group of group-like elements. Crossed homomorphisms for Lie algebras, groups and Hopf algebras have been studied extensively, first from a cohomological perspective and then more broadly, with an important case given by difference operators. This paper shows that the relationship among the different algebraic structures captured in the Milnor-Moore theorem can be str…
We investigate the representation theory of a large class of pointed Hopf algebras, extending results of Lusztig and others. We classify all simple modules in a suitable category and determine the weight multiplicities; we establish a complete reducibility theorem in this category.
Parabosonic algebra in infinite degrees of freedom is presented as a generalization of the bosonic algebra, from the viewpoints of both physics and mathematics. The notion of super-Hopf algebra is shortly discussed and the super-Hopf algebraic structure of the parabosonic algebra is established (without appealing to its Lie superalgebraic structure). Two possible variants of the parabosonic algebra are presented and their (ordinary) Hopf algebraic structure is estabished: The first is produced by "bosonising" the original super-Hopf algebra, while the second is constructed via a slightly diffe…
