We develop graphical calculation methods. Jones-Wenzl projectors for U_q(sl(2,C)) are very powerful tools to find not only invariants of links but also invariants of 3-manifolds. We find single clasp expansions of generalized Jones-Wenzl projectors for simple Lie algebras of rank 2. Trihedron coefficients of the representation theory for U_q(sl(2,C)) has significant meaning and it is called 3j symbols. Using single clasp expansions for U_q(sl(3,C)), we find some trihedron coefficients of the representation theory of U_q(sl(3,C)). We study representation theory for U_q(sl(4,C)). We conjecture a complete set of relations for U_q(sl(4,C)).
Starting from a graded Frobenius superalgebra $B$, we consider a graphical calculus of $B$-decorated string diagrams. From this calculus we produce algebras consisting of closed planar diagrams and of closed annular diagrams. The action of annular diagrams on planar diagrams can be used to make clockwise (or counterclockwise) annular diagrams into an inner product space. Our main theorem identifies this space with the space of symmetric functions equipped with the Jack inner product at Jack parameter $\operatorname{dim} B_\mathrm{even} - \operatorname{dim} B_\mathrm{odd}$. In this way, we obta…
We study the properties of the extended graphical calculus for categorified quantum $sl(n)$. The main results include proofs of Reidemeister 2 and Reidemeister 3-like moves involving strands corresponding to arbitrary thicknesses and arbitrary colors -- the results that were anounced in [M. Stosic: Indecomposable objects and Lusztig's canonical basis, Math. Res. Lett. 22, no. 1 (2015), 245-278].
This paper is an introduction to the language of Feynman Diagrams. We use Reshetikhin-Turaev graphical calculus to define Feynman diagrams and prove that asymptotic expansions of Gaussian integrals can be written as a sum over a suitable family of graphs. We discuss how different kind of interactions give rise to different families of graphs. In particular, we show how symmetric and cyclic interactions lead to ``ordinary'' and ``ribbon'' graphs respectively. As an example, the 't Hooft-Kontsevich model for 2D quantum gravity is treated in some detail.
A categorification of the Beilinson-Lusztig-MacPherson form of the quantum sl(2) was constructed in the paper arXiv:0803.3652 by the second author. Here we enhance the graphical calculus introduced and developed in that paper to include two-morphisms between divided powers one-morphisms and their compositions. We obtain explicit diagrammatical formulas for the decomposition of products of divided powers one-morphisms as direct sums of indecomposable one-morphisms; the latter are in a bijection with the Lusztig canonical basis elements. These formulas have integral coefficients and imply that o…
For a given modular tensor category we study representations of the corresponding tube category whose isomorphism classes are modular invariant matrices. In particular, we provide a characterization of these representations in terms of the annular graphical calculus of the tube category.
ZX-calculus is graphical language for quantum computing which usually focuses on qubits. In this paper, we generalise qubit ZX-calculus to qudit ZX-calculus in any finite dimension by introducing suitable generators, especially a carefully chosen triangle node. As a consequence we obtain a set of rewriting rules which can be seen as a direct generalisation of qubit rules, and a normal form for any qudit vectors. Based on the qudit ZX-calculi, we propose a graphical formalism called qufinite ZX-calculus as a unified framework for all qudit ZX-calculi, which is universal for finite quantum theor…
We show that the $A_2$ clasps in the Karoubi envelope of $A_2$ spider satisfy the recursive formula of the two-variable Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind associated with a root system of type $A_2$. The $A_2$ spider is a diagrammatic description of the representation category for $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_3)$ and the $A_2$ clasps are projectors. Our categorification also gives a natural definition of a $q$-deformation of the two-variable Chebyshev polynomials. This paper is constructed based only on the linear skein theory and graphical calculus.
We construct a calculus structure on the Lie conformal algebra cochain complex. By restricting to degree one chains, we recover the structure of a g-complex introduced in [DSK]. A special case of this construction is the variational calculus, for which we provide explicit formulas.
The aim of this lecture is to give a pedagogical explanation of the notion of a Poisson Lie structure on the external algebra of a Poisson Lie group which was introduced in our previous papers. Using this notion as a guide we construct quantum external algebras on $SL_q(N)$ with proper (classical) dimension.
We introduce a graphical calculus for computing morphism spaces between the categorified spin networks of Cooper and Krushkal. The calculus, phrased in terms of planar compositions of categorified Jones-Wenzl projectors and their duals, is then used to study the module structure of spin networks over the colored unknots.
For a Hopf algebra A, we define the structures of differential complexes on two dual exterior Hopf algebras: 1) an exterior extension of A and 2) an exterior extension of the dual algebra A^*. The Heisenberg double of these two exterior Hopf algebras defines the differential algebra for the Cartan differential calculus on A. The first differential complex is an analog of the de Rham complex. In the situation when A^* is a universal enveloping of a Lie (super)algebra the second complex coincides with the standard complex. The differential is realized as an (anti)commutator with a BRST- operator…
The bicovariant differential calculus on the three-dimensional Kappa-Poincar'e group and the corresponding Lie-algebra structure are described. The equivalence of this Lie-algebra structure and the three-dimensional $κ$-Poincaré algebra is proved.
The bicovariant differential calculus on fourdimensional kappa-Poincare group and corresponding Lie-algebra like structure for any metric tensor are described. The bicovariant differential calculus on four-dimensional kappa-Weyl group and corresponding Lie-algebra like structure for any matric tensor in the reference frame in which $g_{00}=0$ are considered.
A Cartan Calculus of Lie derivatives, differential forms, and inner derivations, based on an undeformed Cartan identity, is constructed. We attempt a classification of various types of quantum Lie algebras and present a fairly general example for their construction, utilizing pure braid methods, proving orthogonality of the adjoint representation and giving a (Killing) metric and the quadratic casimir. A reformulation of the Cartan calculus as a braided algebra and its extension to quantum planes, directly and induced from the group calculus, are provided.
We categorify Lusztig's version of the quantized enveloping algebra for sl(2). Using a graphical calculus a 2-category is constructed whose split Grothendieck ring is isomorphic to Lusztig's algebra. The indecomposable morphisms of this 2-category lift Lusztig's canonical basis, and the Homs between 1-morphisms are graded lifts of a semilinear form defined on quantum sl(2). Graded lifts of various homomorphisms and antihomomorphisms of Lusztig's algebra arise naturally in the context of our graphical calculus. Using iterated flag varieties, a representation of the 2-category is constructed for…
The non-commutative differential calculus on quantum groups can be extended by introducing, in analogy with the classical case, inner product operators and Lie derivatives. For the case of $\GL$ we show how this extended calculus induces by coaction a similar extended calculus, covariant under $\GL$, on the quantum plane. In this way, inner product operators and Lie derivatives can be introduced on the plane as well. The situation with other quantum groups and quantum spaces is briefly discussed. Explicit formulas are given for the two dimensional quantum plane.
To give a Cartan calculus on the extended quantum 3d space, the noncommutative differential calculus on the extended quantum 3d space is extended by introducing inner derivations and Lie derivatives.
This paper has two tightly intertwined aims: (i) To introduce an intuitive and universal graphical calculus for multi-qubit systems, the ZX-calculus, which greatly simplifies derivations in the area of quantum computation and information. (ii) To axiomatise complementarity of quantum observables within a general framework for physical theories in terms of dagger symmetric monoidal categories. We also axiomatize phase shifts within this framework. Using the well-studied canonical correspondence between graphical calculi and symmetric monoidal categories, our results provide a purely graphical f…
While multipartite quantum states constitute a (if not the) key resource for quantum computations and protocols, obtaining a high-level, structural understanding of entanglement involving arbitrarily many qubits is a long-standing open problem in quantum computer science. In this paper we expose the algebraic and graphical structure of the GHZ-state and the W-state, as well as a purely graphical distinction that characterises the behaviours of these states. In turn, this structure yields a compositional graphical model for expressing general multipartite states. We identify those states, named…
