The wreath product W(r,n) of the cyclic group of order r and the symmetric group S_n acts on the corresponding projective hyperplane complement, and on its wonderful compactification as defined by De Concini and Procesi. We give a formula for the characters of the representations of W(r,n) on the cohomology groups of this compactification, extending the result of Ginzburg and Kapranov in the r=1 case. As a corollary, we get a formula for the Betti numbers which generalizes the result of Yuzvinsky in the r=2 case. Our method involves applying to the nested-set stratification a generalization of Joyal's theory of tensor species, which includes a link between polynomial functors and plethysm for general r. We also give a new proof of Lehrer's formula for the representations of W(r,n) on the cohomology groups of the hyperplane complement.
We give a short, case-free and combinatorial proof of de Concini and Procesi's formula for the volume of the simplicial cone spanned by the simple roots of any finite root system. The argument presented here also extends their formula to include the non-crystallographic root systems.
In this paper we prove a conjecture by De Concini, Kac and Procesi \cite{CP} (Corollary \ref{conj}): The dimension of any $M\in U_q-\mood^χ$ is divisible by $l^{codim_\mathcal{B}\mathcal{B}_χ}$.
We study the rational cohomology groups of the real De Concini-Procesi model corresponding to a finite Coxeter group, generalizing the type-A case of the moduli space of stable genus 0 curves with marked points. We compute the Betti numbers in the exceptional types, and give formulae for them in types B and D. We give a generating-function formula for the characters of the representations of a Coxeter group of type B on the rational cohomology groups of the corresponding real De Concini-Procesi model, and deduce the multiplicities of one-dimensional characters in the representations, and a for…
We study the nonnegative part \bar{G_{>0}} of the De Concini-Procesi compactification of a reductive algebraic group G, as defined by Lusztig. Using positivity properties of the canonical basis and parametrization of flag varieties, we will give an explicit description of \bar{G_{>0}}. This answers the question of Lusztig in [L4]. We will also prove that \bar{G_{>0}} has a cell decomposition which was conjectured by Lusztig.
We give an algebraic description of several modules and algebras related to the vector partition function, and we prove that they can be realized as the equivariant K-theory of some manifolds that have a nice combinatorial description. We also propose a more natural and general notion of duality between these modules, which corresponds to a Poincaré duality-type correspondence for equivariant K-theory.
The toric variety corresponding to the Coxeter fan of type A can also be described as a De Concini-Procesi wonderful model. Using a general result of Rains which relates cohomology of real De Concini-Procesi models to poset homology, we give formulas for the Betti numbers of the real toric variety, and the symmetric group representations on the rational cohomologies. We also show that the rational cohomology ring is not generated in degree 1.
Procesi bundles are certain vector bundles on symplectic resolutions of symplectic quotient singularities for wreath-products of the symmetric groups with Kleinian groups. Roughly speaking, we can define Procesi bundles as bundles on resolutions that provide derived McKay equivalence. In this paper we classify Procesi bundles on resolutions obtained by Hamiltonian reduction and relate the Procesi bundles to the tautological bundles on the resolutions. Our proofs are based on deformation arguments and a connection of Procesi bundles with Symplectic reflection algebras.
We give a presentation for the cohomology algebra of the Spaltenstein variety of all partial flags annihilated by a fixed nilpotent matrix, generalizing the description of the cohomology algebra of the Springer fiber found by De Concini, Procesi and Tanisaki.
In this note we give a geometric realization of the cohomology of Springer fibers in type A. More precisely, we describe the cohomology by the coordinate ring of a scheme theoretic intersection of a Cartan subalgebra with a certain union of cones of nilpotent elements inside the Lie algebra of the group SL_n. As such, the main result of this note is similar to an earlier description given by de Concini and Procesi.
Let $G$ be a semisimple adjoint group over $\bold C$ and $\bar{G}$ be the De Concini-Procesi completion of $G$. In this paper, we define a Lagrangian subvariety $Λ$ of the cotangent bundle of $\bar{G}$ such that the singular support of any character sheaf on $\bar{G}$ is contained in $Λ$.
We give a generalization of "Curious Identity" of De Concini and Procesi. Our proof is based on the recent result of Waldspurger about the decomposition of the cone dual to the fundamental chamber of a finite reflection group as a disjoint union of some subcones.
De Concini and Procesi have defined the wonderful compactification of a symmetric space X=G/H with G a semisimple adjoint group and H the subgroup of fixed points of G by an involution s. It is a closed subvariety of a grassmannian of the Lie algebra L of G. In this paper, we prove that, when the rank of X is equal to the rank of G, the variety is defined by linear equations. The set of equations expresses the fact that the invariant alternate trilinear form w on L vanishes on the (-1)-eigenspace of s.
I will present an explicit formula for the intersection indices of the Chern classes of an arbitrary reductive group with hypersurfaces. This formula has the following applications. First, it allows to compute explicitly the Euler characteristic of complete intersections in reductive groups. Second, for any regular compactification of a reductive group, it computes the intersection indices of the Chern classes of the compactification with hypersurfaces. The formula is similar to the Brion--Kazarnovskii formula for the intersection indices of hypersurfaces in reductive groups. The proof uses an…
In this paper, we describe the category of bi-equivariant vector bundles on a bi-equivariant smooth (partial) compactification of a reductive algebraic group with normal crossing boundary divisors. Our result is a generalization of the description of the category of equivariant vector bundles on toric varieties established by A.A. Klyachko [Math. USSR. Izvestiya, {\bf 35}, No.2 (1990)]. As an application, we prove splitting of equivariant vector bundles of low rank on the wonderful compactification of an adjoint semisimple group in the sense of C. De Concini and C. Procesi [Lecture Note in Mat…
A conjecture of De Concini Kac and Procesi provides a bound on the minimal possible dimension of an irreducible module for quantized enveloping algebras at an odd root of unity. We pose the problem of the existence of modules whose dimension equals this bound. We show that this question cannot have a positive answer in full generality and discuss variants of this question.
The unipotent variety of a reductive algebraic group $G$ plays an important role in the representation theory. In this paper, we will consider the closure $\bar{\Cal U}$ of the unipotent variety in the De Concini-Procesi compactification $\bar{G}$ of a connected simple algebraic group $G$. We will prove that $\bar{\Cal U}-\Cal U$ is a union of some $G$-stable pieces introduced by Lusztig in \cite{L4}. This was first conjectured by Lusztig. We will also give an explicit description of $\bar{\Cal U}$. It turns out that similar results hold for the closure of any Steinberg fiber in $\bar{G}$.
De Concini-Procesi introduced varieties known as wonderful compactifications, which are smooth projective compactifications of semisimple adjoint groups $G$. We study the Frobenius pushforwards of invertible sheaves on the wonderful compactifications, and in particular its decomposition into locally free subsheaves. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for a specific line bundle to be a direct summand of the Frobenius pushforward of another line bundle, formulated in terms of the weight lattice of $\widetilde{G}$, the universal cover of $G$ (identified with the Picard group of the wonde…
The space of $n \times m$ complex matrices can be regarded as an algebraic variety on which the group ${\bf GL}_n \times {\bf GL}_m$ acts. There is a rich interaction between geometry and representation theory in this example. In an important paper, de Concini, Eisenbud, and Procesi classified the equivariant ideals in the coordinate ring. More recently, we proved a noetherian result for families of equivariant modules as $n$ and $m$ vary. In this paper, we establish analogs of these results for the space of $(n|n) \times (m|m)$ isomeric matrices with respect to the action of ${\bf Q}_n \times…
