It is known that if G is a connected simple graph, then G^3 is Hamiltonian (in fact, Hamilton-connected). A simple graph is k-ordered Hamiltonian if for any sequence v_1, v_2, ..., v_k of k vertices there is a Hamiltonian cycle containing these vertices in the given order. In this paper, we prove that G^(3k/2 + 1) is k-ordered Hamiltonian for a connected graph G on at least k vertices. We further show that if G is connected, then G^4 is 4-ordered Hamiltonian and that if G is Hamiltonian, then G^3 is 5-ordered Hamiltonian. We also give bounds on the smallest power p_k such that G^p_k is k-ordered Hamiltonian for G=P_n and G=C_n.
For a graph $G$, the $t$-th power $G^t$ is the graph on $V(G)$ such that two vertices are adjacent if and only if they have distance at most $t$ in $G$; and the $t$-th bi-power $G_B^t$ is the graph on $V(G)$ such that two vertices are adjacent if and only if their distance in $G$ is odd at most $t$. Fleischner's theorem states that the square of every 2-connected finite graph has a Hamiltonian cycle. Georgakopoulos prove that the square of every 2-connected infinite locally finite graph has a Hamiltonian circle. In this paper, we consider the Hamiltonicity of the bi-power of bipartite graphs. …
In this paper we study the toughness of Random Apollonian Networks (RANs), a random graph model which generates planar graphs with power-law properties. We consider their important characteristics: every RAN is a uniquely representable chordal graph and a planar $3$-tree and as so, known results about these classes can be particularized. We establish a partition of the class in eight nontrivial subclasses and for each one of these subclasses we provide bounds for the toughness of their elements. We also study the hamiltonicity of the elements of these subclasses.
A generalized de Bruijn digraph generalizes a de Bruijn digraph to the case where the number of vertices need not be a pure power of an integer. Hamiltonian cycles in these digraphs thus generalize regular de~Bruijn cycles, and we will thus refer to them simply as de Bruijn cycles. We define the cross-join to be the graph with all de Bruijn cycles as vertices, there is an edge between two of these vertices if one can be obtained from the other via a cross-join operation. We show that the cross-join graph is connected. This in particular means that any regular de Bruijn cycle can be cross-joine…
We consider the random graph $G_{n, {\bf d}}$ chosen uniformly at random from the set of all graphs with a given sparse degree sequence ${\bf d}$. We assume ${\bf d}$ has minimum degree at least 4, at most a power law tail, and place one more condition on its tail. For $k\ge 2$ define $β_k(G) = \max e(A, B) + k(|A|-|B|) - d(A)$, with the maximum taken over disjoint vertex sets $A, B$. It is shown that the problem of determining if $G_{n, {\bf d}}$ contains a Hamilton cycle reduces to calculating $β_2(G_{n, {\bf d}})$. If $k\ge 2$ and $δ\ge k+2$, the problem of determining if $G_{n, {\bf d}}$ c…
The power graph $P(G)$ of a group $G$ is a simple graph with the vertex set $G$ such that two distinct vertices $u,v \in G$ are adjacent in $P(G)$ if and only if $u^m = v$ or $v^m = u$, for some $m \in \mathbb{N}$. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the notion of a power graph for gyrogroups. Using this, we investigate the combinatorial properties of a certain gyrogroup, say $G(n)$, of order $2^n$ for $n \geq 3$. In particular, we determine the Hamiltonicity and planarity of the power graph of $G(n)$. Consequently, we calculate distant properties, resolving polynomial, Hosoya and recipr…
Finding general conditions which ensure that a graph is Hamiltonian is a central topic in graph theory. An old and well known conjecture in the area states that any $d$-regular $n$-vertex graph $G$ whose second largest eigenvalue in absolute value $λ(G)$ is at most $\frac{d}{C}$, for some universal constant $C>0$, has a Hamilton cycle. In this paper, we obtain two main results which make substantial progress towards this problem. Firstly, we settle this conjecture in full when the degree $d$ is at least a small power of $n$. Secondly, in the general case we show that $λ(G) \leq \frac{d}{C(\log…
For prime powers q we use "strongly orthogonal" linear Sudoku solutions of order q^2 to construct ordered orthogonal arrays of type OOA (4,s,2,q), and for each q we present a range of values of s for which these constructions are valid.
We investigate the combinatorics of the general formulas for the powers of the operator $h \partial^k$, where $h$ is a central element of a ring and $\partial$ is a differential operator. This generalizes previous work on the powers of operators $h \partial$. New formulas for the generalized Stirling numbers are obtained.
The spectrum of the $k$-power hypergraph of a graph $G$ is called the $k$-ordered spectrum of $G$.If graphs $G_1$ and $G_2$ have same $k$-ordered spectrum for all positive integer $k\geq2$, $G_1$ and $G_2$ are said to be high-ordered cospectral. If all graphs who are high-ordered cospectral with the graph $G$ are isomorphic to $G$, we say that $G$ is determined by the high-ordered spectrum. In this paper, we use the high-ordered spectrum of graphs to study graph isomorphism and show that all Smith's graphs are determined by the high-ordered spectrum. And we give infinitely many pairs of trees wi…
Motivated by the concept of transition system investigated by Kotzig in 1968, Krivelevich, Lee and Sudakov proposed a more general notion of incompatibility system to formulate the robustness of Hamiltonicity of Dirac graphs. Given a graph $G=(V,E)$, an {\em incompatibility system} $\mathcal{F}$ over $G$ is a family $\mathcal{F}=\{F_v\}_{v\in V}$ such that for every $v\in V$, $F_v$ is a family of edge pairs in $\{\{e,e'\}: e\ne e'\in E, e\cap e'=\{v\}\}$. An incompatibility system $\mathcal{F}$ is \emph{$Δ$-bounded} if for every vertex $v$ and every edge $e$ incident with $v$, there are at mos…
Sperner theorems for unrelated copies of some partially ordered sets in a powerset lattice and minimum generating sets of powers of distributive lattices
An important instance of Rota-Baxter algebras from their quantum field theory application is the ring of Laurent series with a suitable projection. We view the ring of Laurent series as a special case of generalized power series rings with exponents in an ordered monoid. We study when a generalized power series ring has a Rota-Baxter operator and how this is related to the ordered monoid.
A signed graph is an ordered pair $Σ=(G,σ),$ where $G=(V,E)$ is the underlying graph of $Σ$ with a signature function $σ:E\rightarrow \{1,-1\}$. In this article, we define $n^{th}$ power of a signed graph and discuss some properties of these powers of signed graphs. As we can define two types of signed graphs as the power of a signed graph, necessary and sufficient conditions are given for an $n^{th}$ power of a signed graph to be unique. Also, we characterize balanced power signed graphs.
In cooperative games, the core is the most popular solution concept, and its properties are well known. In the classical setting of cooperative games, it is generally assumed that all coalitions can form, i.e., they are all feasible. In many situations, this assumption is too strong and one has to deal with some unfeasible coalitions. Defining a game on a subcollection of the power set of the set of players has many implications on the mathematical structure of the core, depending on the precise structure of the subcollection of feasible coalitions. Many authors have contributed to this topic,…
In this paper, we use a simple discrete dynamical model to study partitions of integers into powers of another integer. We extend and generalize some known results about their enumeration and counting, and we give new structural results. In particular, we show that the set of these partitions can be ordered in a natural way which gives the distributive lattice structure to this set. We also give a tree structure which allow efficient and simple enumeration of the partitions of an integer.
