We compute explicitly the equivariant Hirzebruch $χ_y$-characteristic of an equivariant complex line bundle over a toric manifold and state a weighted version of the quantization commutes with reduction principle in symplectic geometry. Then, we give a weighted decomposition formula for any simple polytope in $\R^n$. This formula generalizes a polytope decomposition due to Lawrence [10] and Varchenko [14] and extends a previous weighted version obtained by Karshon, Sternberg and Weitsman [9].
In this paper, we prove that the "quantization commutes with reduction" phenomenon of Guillemin-Sternberg applies in the context of the metaplectic correction.
In this paper we show that the multiplicities of holomorphic discrete series representations relatively to reductive subgroups satisfy the credo "Quantization commutes with reduction".
Kasparov defined a distinguished K-homology fundamental class, so called the Dirac element. We prove a localization formula for the Dirac element in K-homology of crossed product of C^{*}-algebras. Then we define the quantization of Hamiltonian G-spaces as a push-forward of the Dirac element. With this, we develop a K-homological approach to the quantization commutes with reduction theorem.
We describe a very nice argument, which we learned from Sue Tolman, that the dimension of the quantization space of a toric manifold, using a Kaehler polarization, is given by the number of integer lattice points in the moment polytope.

Let $M$ be a connected compact quantizable Kähler manifold equipped with a Hamiltonian action of a connected compact Lie group $G$. Let $M//G=ϕ^{-1}(0)/G=M_0$ be the symplectic quotient at value 0 of the moment map $ϕ$. The space $M_0$ may in general not be smooth. It is known that, as vector spaces, there is a natural isomorphism between the quantum Hilbert space over $M_0$ and the $G$-invariant subspace of the quantum Hilbert space over $M$. In this paper, without any regularity assumption on the quotient $M_0$, we discuss the relation between the inner products of these two quantum Hilbert …
When geometric quantization is applied to a manifold using a real polarization which is "nice enough", a result of Sniatycki says that the quantization can be found by counting certain objects, called Bohr-Sommerfeld leaves. Subsequently, several authors have taken this as motivation for counting Bohr-Sommerfeld leaves when studying the quantization of manifolds which are less "nice". In this paper, we examine the quantization of compact symplectic manifolds that can locally be modelled by a toric manifold, using a real polarization modelled on fibres of the moment map. We compute the results …
In this paper, we show the spectral convergence result of $\overline{\partial}$-Laplacians when $(X,ω)$ is a compact toric symplectic manifold equipped with the natural prequantum line bundle $L$. We consider a family $\{ J_s\}_s$ of $ω$-compatible complex structures tending to the large complex structure limit, and obtain the spectral convergence of $\overline{\partial}$-Laplacians acting on $L^k$.
On a compact Kähler manifold $X$, Toeplitz operators determine a deformation quantization $(\operatorname{C}^\infty(X, \mathbb{C})[[\hbar]], \star)$ with separation of variables [10] with respect to transversal complex polarizations $T^{1, 0}X, T^{0, 1}X$ as $\hbar \to 0^+$ [15]. The analogous statement is proved for compact symplectic manifolds with transversal non-singular real polarizations [13]. In this paper, we establish the analogous result for transversal singular real polarizations on compact toric symplectic manifolds $X$. Due to toric singularities, half-form correction and localiza…
Kostant gave a model for the real geometric quantization associated to polarizations via the cohomology associated to the sheaf of flat sections of a pre-quantum line bundle. This model is well-adapted for real polarizations given by integrable systems and toric manifolds. In the latter case, the cohomology can be computed counting integral points inside the associated Delzant polytope. In this article we extend Kostant's geometric quantization to semitoric integrable systems and almost toric manifolds. In these cases the dimension of the acting torus is smaller than half of the dimension of t…
Let M be a compact Kahler manifold equipped with a Hamiltonian action of a compact Lie group G. In this paper, we study the geometric quantization of the symplectic quotient M//G. Guillemin and Sternberg [Invent. Math. 67 (1982), 515--538] have shown, under suitable regularity assumptions, that there is a natural invertible map between the quantum Hilbert space over M//G and the G-invariant subspace of the quantum Hilbert space over M. We prove that in general the natural map of Guillemin and Sternberg is not unitary, \textit{even to leading order in Planck's constant}. We then modify the quan…
In this paper we propose a noncommutative generalization of the relationship between compact Kähler manifolds and complex projective algebraic varieties. Beginning with a prequantized Kähler structure, we use a holomorphic Poisson tensor to deform the underlying complex structure into a generalized complex structure, such that the prequantum line bundle and its tensor powers deform to a sequence of generalized complex branes. Taking homomorphisms between the resulting branes, we obtain a noncommutative deformation of the homogeneous coordinate ring. As a proof of concept, this is implemented f…
In this paper we show that the `quantization commutes with reduction' principle of Guillemin-Sternberg holds for the coadjoint orbits that parametrize the discrete series of a real connected semi-simple Lie group.
Let M be a compact Kaehler manifold equipped with a Hamiltonian action of a compact Lie group G. In [Invent. Math. 67 (1982), no.~3, 515--538], Guillemin and Sternberg showed that there is a geometrically natural isomorphism between the G-invariant quantum Hilbert space over M and the quantum Hilbert space over the symplectic quotient M//G. This map, though, is not in general unitary, even to leading order in h-bar. In [Comm. Math. Phys. 275 (2007), no.~2, 401--422], Hall and the author showed that when the metaplectic correction is included, one does obtain a map which, while not in general u…
We formulate a quantization commutes with reduction principle in the setting where the Lie group $G$, the symplectic manifold it acts on, and the orbit space of the action may all be noncompact. It is assumed that the action is proper, and the zero set of a deformation vector field, associated to the momentum map and an equivariant family of inner products on the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ of $G$, is $G$-cocompact. The central result establishes an asymptotic version of this quantization commutes with reduction principle. Using an equivariant family of inner products on $\mathfrak{g}$ instead …
We show that the results of the paper Symplectic Reduction and Riemann-Roch for Circle Actions of Duistermaat, Guillemin, Meinrenken and Wu can be expressed entirely in K-theory. We show that their quantization is simply a pushforward in K-theory, and use Lerman's symplectic cutting and the localization theorem in equivariant K-theory to prove that quantization commutes with reduction. Only the case where the action is free on the zero level set of the moment map is addressed.
We introduce a method of geometric quantization for compact $b$-symplectic manifolds in terms of the index of an Atiyah-Patodi-Singer (APS) boundary value problem. We show further that b-symplectic manifolds have canonical Spin-c structures in the usual sense, and that the APS index above coincides with the index of the Spin-c Dirac operator. We show that if the manifold is endowed with a Hamiltonian action of a compact connected Lie group with non-zero modular weights, then this method satisfies the Guillemin-Sternberg ``quantization commutes with reduction'' property. In particular our quant…
For a possibly singular subset of a regular Poisson manifold we construct a deformation quantization of its algebra of Whitney functions. We then extend the construction of a deformation quantization to the case where the underlying set is a subset of a not necessarily regular Poisson manifold which can be written as the quotient of a regular Poisson manifold on which a compact Lie group acts freely by Poisson maps. Finally, if the quotient Poisson manifold is regular as well, we show a "quantization commutes with reduction" type result. For the proofs, we use methods stemming from both singul…
We propose that geometric quantization of symplectic manifolds is the arrow part of a functor, whose object part is deformation quantization of Poisson manifolds. The `quantization commutes with reduction' conjecture of Guillemin and Sternberg then becomes a special case of the functoriality of quantization. In fact, our formulation yields almost unlimited generalizations of the Guillemin--Sternberg conjecture, extending it, for example, to arbitrary Lie groups or even Lie groupoids. Technically, this involves symplectic reduction and Weinstein's dual pairs on the classical side, and Kasparov'…
Let $G$ be a compact connected Lie group acting on a stable complex manifold $M$ with equivariant vector bundle $E$. Besides, suppose $ϕ$ is an equivariant map from $M$ to the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. We can define some equivalence relation on the triples $(M, E, ϕ)$ such that the set of equivalence classes form an abelian group. In this paper, we will show that this group is isomorphic to a completion of character ring $R(G)$. In this framework, we provide a geometric proof to the "Quantization Commutes with Reduction" conjecture in the non-compact setting.

We describe a formalism based on quantization of quadratic hamiltonians and symplectic actions of loop groups which provides a convenient home for most of known general results and conjectures about Gromov-Witten invariants of compact symplectic manifolds and, more generally, Frobenius structures at higher genus. We state several results illustrating the formalism and its use. In particular, we establish Virasoro constraints for semisimple Frobenius structures and outline a proof of the Virasoro conjecture for Gromov -- Witten invariants of complex projective spaces and other Fano toric manifo…
The toric manifolds in question were invented by Bott and studied by Grossberg and Karshon under the name "Bott towers". Interest in them comes from their relation to characters of semisimple Lie groups and geometric quantization. We offer another construction of them, introduce a family symplectic structures as curvatures of line bundles, work out canonical coordinates (action-angle variables), derive positivity criteria for the curvature, and determine the range of the moment map. A character of the torus group is introduced as an integral in the spirit of Kirillov's character formula and sh…
For an $S^{1}$-manifold with boundary, we prove a localization formula applying to any equivariant cohomology theory satisfying a certain algebraic condition. We show how the localization result of Kalkman and a case of the quantization commutes with reduction theorem follow easily from the localization formula.
Let G be an n-dimensional torus and $τ$ a Hamiltonian action of G on a compact symplectic manifold, M. If M is pre-quantizable one can associate with $τ$ a representation of G on a virtual vector space, Q(M), by $\spin^{\CC}$-quantization. If M is a symplectic GKM manifold we will show that several well-known theorems about this ``quantum action'' of G: for example, the convexity theorem, the Kostant multiplicity theorem and the ``quantization commutes with reduction'' theorem for circle subgroups of G, are basically just theorems about G-actions on graphs.
Let $M$ be a compact Kähler manifold equipped with a pre-quantum line bundle $L$. In [9], using $T$-symmetry, we constructed a polarization $\mathcal{P}_{\mathrm{mix}}$ on $M$, which generalizes real polarizations on toric manifolds. In this paper, we obtain the following results for the quantum space $\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{mix}}$ associated to $\mathcal{P}_{\mathrm{mix}}$. First, $\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{mix}}$ consists of distributional sections of $L$ with supports inside $μ^{-1}(\mathfrak{t}^{*}_{\mathbb{Z}})$. This gives $\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{mix}}=\bigoplus_{λ\in \mathfrak{t}^{*}_{\mathbb{Z}…
We give a formulation of a deformation of Dirac operator along orbits of a group action on a possibly non-compact manifold to get an equivariant index and a K-homology cycle representing the index. We apply this framework to non-compact Hamiltonian torus manifolds to define geometric quantization from the view point of index theory. We give two applications. The first one is a proof of a [Q,R]=0 type theorem, which can be regarded as a proof of the Vergne conjecture for Abelian case. The other is a Danilov-type formula for toric case in the non-compact setting, which shows that this geometric …
