Let H be a Hopf algebra. By definition a modular crossed H-module is a vector space M on which H acts and coacts in a compatible way. To every modular crossed H-module M we associate a cyclic object Z(H,M). The cyclic homology of Z(H,M) extends the usual cyclic homology of the algebra structure of H, and the relative cyclic homology of an H-Galois extension. For a Hopf subalgebra K we compute, under some assumptions, the cyclic homology of an induced modular crossed module. As a direct application of this computation, we describe the relative cyclic homology of strongly graded algebras. In particular, we calculate the (usual) cyclic homology of group algebras and quantum tori. Finally, when H is the enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra, we construct a spectral sequence that converges to the cyclic homology of H with coefficients in an arbitrary modular crossed module. We also show that the cyclic homology of almost symmetric algebras is isomorphic to the cyclic homology of H with coefficients in a certain modular crossed-module.
We define the notion of equivariant Hopf Galois extension and apply it as a functor between category of SAYD modules of the Hopf algebras involving in the extension. This generalizes the result of Jara-Stefan and Böhm-Stefan on associating a SAYD modules to any ordinary Hopf Galois extension.
To any Hopf algebra H we associate two commutative Hopf algebras, which we call the first and second lazy homology Hopf algebras of H. These algebras are related to the lazy cohomology groups based on the so-called lazy cocycles of H by universal coefficient theorems. When H is a group algebra, then its lazy homology can be expressed in terms of the 1- and 2-homology of the group. When H is a cosemisimple Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, then its first lazy homology is the Hopf algebra of the universal abelian grading group of the category of corepresenta…
Let A be an H-Galois extension of B. If M is a Hopf bimodule then HH.(A,M), the Hochschild homology of A with coefficients in M, is a right comodule over the coalgebra C:=H/[H,H]. Given an injective left C-comodule V, we denote the cotensor product of M and V by N. Our aim is to investigate the relationship between the cotensor product of HH.(A,M) and V, on the one hand, and HH.(B,N) on the other hand. The roots of this problem can be found in Lorenz's work on the descent of Hochschild homology of centrally Galois extensions, where HH.(A)^G, the subspace of invariant cycles with respect to the…
We introduce an alternative proof, with the use of tools and notions for Hopf algebras, to show that Hopf Galois coextensions of coalgebras are the sources of stable anti Yetter-Drinfeld modules. Furthermore we show that two natural cohomology theories related to a Hopf Galois coextension are isomorphic.
A natural isomorphism between the cyclic object computing the relative cyclic homology of a homogeneous quotient-coalgebra-Galois extension, and the cyclic object computing the cyclic homology of a Galois coalgebra with SAYD coefficients is presented. The isomorphism can be viewed as the cyclic-homological counterpart of the Takeuchi-Galois correspondence between the left coideal subalgebras and the quotient right module coalgebras of a Hopf algebra. A spectral sequence generalizing the classical computation of Hochschild homology of a Hopf algebra to the case of arbitrary homogeneous quotient…
We consider Hopf crossed products of the the type $A#_σ\mathcal{H}$, where $\mathcal{H}$ is a cocommutative Hopf algebra, $A$ is an $\mathcal{H}$-module algebra and $σ$ is a "numerical" convolution invertible 2-cocycle on $\mathcal{H}$. we give an spectral sequence that converges to the cyclic homology of $A#_σ\mathcal{H}$ and identify the $E^1$ and $E^2$ terms of the spectral sequence.
In this paper, we establish the invariance of cyclic (co)homology of left Hopf algebroids under the change of Morita equivalent base algebras. The classical result on Morita invariance for cyclic homology of associative algebras appears as a special example of this theory. In our main application we consider the Morita equivalence between the algebra of complex-valued smooth functions on the classical 2-torus and the coordinate algebra of the noncommutative 2-torus with rational parameter. We then construct a Morita base change left Hopf algebroid over this noncommutative 2-torus and show that…
We reformulate the concept of connection on a Hopf-Galois extension $B\subseteq P$ in order to apply it in computing the Chern-Connes pairing between the cyclic cohomology $HC^{2n} (B)$ and $K_0 (B)$. This reformulation allows us to show that a Hopf-Galois extension admitting a strong connection is projective and left faithfully flat. It also enables us to conclude that a strong connection is a Cuntz-Quillen-type bimodule connection. To exemplify the theory, we construct a strong connection (super Dirac monopole) to find out the Chern-Connes pairing for the super line bundles associated to sup…
In this paper we show that both variants of the Hopf cyclic homology has excision under some natural homological conditions on the objects and the coefficient module.
We study certain aspects of the algebraic K-theory of Hopf-Galois extensions. We show that the Cartan map from K-theory to G-theory of such an extension is a rational isomorphism, provided the ring of coinvariants is regular, the Hopf algebra is finite dimensional and its Cartan map is injective in degree zero. This covers the case of a crossed product of a regular ring with a finite group and has an application to the study of Iwasawa modules.
A new class of coefficients for the Hopf-cyclic homology of module algebras and coalgebras is introduced. These coefficients, termed stable anti-Yetter-Drinfeld contramodules, are both modules and contramodules of a Hopf algebra that satisfy certain compatibility conditions.
Making use of the recent theory of noncommutative motives, we prove that every additive invariant satisfies Galois descent. Examples include mixed complexes, Hochschild homology, cyclic homology, periodic cyclic homology, negative cyclic homology, connective algebraic K-theory, mod-l algebraic K-theory, nonconnective algebraic K-theory, homotopy K-theory, topological Hochschild homology, and topological cyclic homology.
We define a version of Hochschild homology and cohomology suitable for a class of algebras admitting compatible actions of bialgebras, called module algebras. We show this (co)homology, called Hopf--Hochschild (co)homology, can also be defined as a derived functor on the category of representations of a crossed product algebra. We investigate the relationship of our theory with Hopf cyclic cohomology and also prove Morita invariance of the Hopf--Hochschild (co)homology.
In this paper we construct a cylindrical module $A \natural \mathcal{H}$ for an $\mathcal{H}$-comodule algebra $A$, where the antipode of the Hopf algebra $\mathcal{H}$ is bijective. We show that the cyclic module associated to the diagonal of $A \natural \mathcal{H}$ is isomorphic with the cyclic module of the crossed product algebra $A \rtimes \mathcal{H}$. This enables us to derive a spectral sequence for the cyclic homology of the crossed product algebra. We also construct a cocylindrical module for Hopf module coalgebras and establish a similar spectral sequence to compute the cyclic coho…
We develop an appropriate dihedral extension of the Connes-Moscovici characteristic map for Hopf *-algebras. We then observe that one can use this extension together with the dihedral Chern character to detect non-trivial $L$-theory classes of a *-algebra that carry a Hopf symmetry over a Hopf *-algebra. Using our machinery we detect a previously unknown $L$-class of the standard Podleś sphere.

We introduce the cylindrical module $A \natural \mathcal{H}$, where $\mathcal{H}$ is a Hopf algebra and $A$ is a Hopf module algebra over $\mathcal{H}$. We show that there exists an isomorphism between $\mathsf{C}_{\bullet}(A^{op} \rtimes \mathcal{H}^{cop})$ the cyclic module of the crossed product algebra $A^{op} \rtimes \mathcal{H}^{cop} $, and $Δ(A \natural \mathcal{H}) $, the cyclic module related to the diagonal of $A \natural \mathcal{H}$. If $S$, the antipode of $\mathcal{H}$, is invertible it follows that $\mathsf{C}_{\bullet}(A \rtimes \mathcal{H}) \simeq Δ(A^{op} \natural \mathcal{H}…
Let k be a field, A a unitary associative k-algebra and V a k-vector space endowed with a distinguished element 1_V. We obtain a mixed complex, simpler that the canonical one, that gives the Hochschild, cyclic, negative and periodic homology of a crossed product E:=A#_f V, in the sense of Brzezinski. We actually work in the more general context of relative cyclic homology. Specifically, we consider a subalgebra K of A that satisfies suitable hypothesis and we find a mixed complex computing the Hochschild, cyclic, negative and periodic homology of E relative to K. Then, when E is a cleft braide…
We define a Hopf cyclic (co)homology theory in an arbitrary symmetric strict monoidal category. Thus we unify all different types of Hopf cyclic (co)homologies under one single universal theory. We recover Hopf cyclic (co)homology of module algebras, comodule algebras and module coalgebras along with Hopf-Hochschild (co)homology of module algebras. This universal theory also allows us to define the missing Hopf cyclic theory for comodule coalgebras.
Let A a k-algebra, H a Hopf algebra, E = A#H a general crossed product and M an E-bimodule. We obtain a complex simpler than the canonical one, giving the Hochschild homology of E with coefficients in M. This complex is eqquiped with a natural filtration. We prove that the associated spectral sequence coincides with that obtained by either, the Hochschild-Serre direct method or the Cartan-Leray-Grothendieck method. We also get similar results for the cohomology.
