Functional Equations and Their Related Operads

Using functional equations, we define functors that generalize standard examples from calculus of one variable. Examples of such functors are discussed and their Taylor towers are computed. We also show that these functors factor through objects enriched over the homology of little $n$-cubes operads and discuss the relationship between functors defined via functional equations and operads. In addition, we compute the differentials of the forgetful functor from the category of $n$-Poisson algebras in terms of the homology of configuration spaces.

Minimal models for graph-related (hyper)operads

We construct explicit minimal models for the (hyper)operads governing modular, cyclic and ordinary operads, and wheeled properads, respectively. Algebras for these models are homotopy versions of the corresponding structures.

Modular operads and the nerve theorem

We describe a category of undirected graphs which comes equipped with a faithful functor into the category of (colored) modular operads. The associated singular functor from modular operads to presheaves is fully faithful, and its essential image can be classified by a Segal condition. This theorem can be used to recover a related statement, due to André Joyal and Joachim Kock, concerning a larger category of undirected graphs whose functor to modular operads is not just faithful but also full.

Six operations formalism for generalized operads

This paper shows that generalizations of operads equipped with their respective bar/cobar dualities are related by a six operations formalism analogous to that of classical contexts in algebraic geometry. As a consequence of our constructions, we prove intertwining theorems which govern derived Koszul duality of push-forwards and pull-backs.

Massey products for algebras over operads

We define a generalization of Massey products for algebras over a Koszul operad in characteristic zero, extending Massey's and Allday's and Retah's in the associative and Lie cases, respectively. We establish connections with minimal models and with Dimitrova's universal operadic cohomology class. We compute a Gerstenhaber algebra example and a hypercommutative algebra example related to the Chevalley-Eilenberg complex of the Heisenberg Lie algebra.

Plus-construction for algebras over an operad, cyclic and Hochschild homologies up to homotopy

In this paper we apply homotopical localization to the framework of differential graded algebras over an operad. We get plus construction by performing nullification with respect to an universal acyclic algebra. This plus construction for Lie and Leibniz algebras up to homotopy yields two new homology theories for associative algebras. They are closely related to cyclic and Hochschild homologies. We also compute their first homology groups.

Maurer-Cartan Elements and Cyclic Operads

First we argue that many BV and homotopy BV structures, including both familiar and new examples, arise from a common underlying construction. The input of this construction is a cyclic operad along with a cyclically invariant Maurer-Cartan element in an associated Lie algebra. In this thesis, we generalize the Koszul duality for associative algebras and operads to PROPs. The operads are algebraic objects that represent the operations with multiple inputs but only one output acting on a certain type of algebras. A PROP models the operations with multiple inputs and multiple outputs acting on algebraic structures like bialgebras and Lie bialgebras. We also give a construction of the free monoid (for a monoidal product non-necessarily bilinear). We generalize the Poincare series of operads to PROPs and we prove a functional equation for Poincare series of Koszul PROPs.

Higher hairy graph homology

We study the hairy graph homology of a cyclic operad; in particular we show how to assemble corresponding hairy graph cohomology classes to form cocycles for ordinary graph homology, as defined by Kontsevich. We identify the part of hairy graph homology coming from graphs with cyclic fundamental group as the dihedral homology of a related associative algebra with involution.
