We obtain a presentation by generators and relations for generalized Schur algebras and their quantizations. This extends earlier results obtained in the type A case. The presentation is compatible with Lusztig's modified form of a quantized enveloping algebra. We show that generalized Schur algebras inherit a canonical basis from the modified form of the quantized enveloping algebra, that this gives them a cellular structure, and thus they are quasihereditary over a field.
We give a presentation of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras by generators and defining relations. As an application, we give an algorithm for computing decomposition numbers of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras.
We obtain a presentation of certain affine q-Schur algebras in terms of generators and relations. The presentation is obtained by adding more relations to the usual presentation of the quantized enveloping algebra of type affine gl_n. Our results extend and rely on the corresponding result for the q-Schur algebra of the symmetric group, which were proved by the first author and Giaquinto.
We obtain a presentation of quantum Schur algebras (over the field Q(v)) by generators and relations. This presentation is compatible with the usual presentation of the quantized universal enveloping algebra of the Lie algebra gl(2). We also locate the ``integral'' form of the quantum Schur algebra within the presented algebra and show it has a basis which is closely related to Lusztig's basis of the integral form of the quantized enveloping algebra.
Motivated by work of R.M. Green, we obtain a presentation of Schur algebras (both the classical and quantized versions) in terms of generators and relations. The presentation is compatible with the usual presentation of the (quantized or classical) enveloping algebra of gl(n). As a result, we obtain a new ``integral'' basis for Schur algebras which is a subset of Kostant's basis of the integral form of the enveloping algebra (or its q-analogue). Projection onto an appropriate component gives a new "integral" basis and a presentation for the Hecke algebra, compatible with the basis and presenta…
Associated to the two types of finite dimensional simple superalgebras, there are the general linear Lie superalgebra and the queer Lie superalgebra. The universal enveloping algebras of these Lie superalgebras act on the tensor spaces of the natural representations and, thus, define certain finite dimensional quotients, the Schur superalgebras and the queer Schur superalgebra. In this paper, we introduce the quantum analogue of the queer Schur superalgebra and investigate the presentation problem for both the queer Schur superalgebra and its quantum analogue.
We show that the algebras constructed in [Li10] and [Li12] are generalized q-Schur algebras as defined in [D03]. This provides a geometric construction of generalized q-Schur algebras in types A, D and E. We give a parameterization of Nakajima's Lagrangian quiver variety of type D associated to a certain highest weight.
We introduce a generalized version of a q-Schur algebra (of parabolic type) for arbitrary Hecke algebras over extended Weyl groups. We describe how the decomposition matrix of a finite group with split BN-pair, with respect to a non-describing prime, can be partially described by the decomposition matrices of suitably chosen q-Schur algebras. We show that the investigated structures occur naturally in finite groups of Lie type.
We show that the defining relations needed to describe a generalized q-Schur algebra as a quotient of a quantized enveloping algebra are determined completely by the defining ideal of a certain finite affine variety, the points of which correspond bijectively to the set of weights. This explains, unifies, and extends previous results.
We show that cellular bases of generalized $q$-Schur algebras can be constructed by gluing arbitrary bases of the cell modules and their dual basis (with respect to the anti-involution giving the cell structure) along defining idempotents. For the rational form, over the field $\mathbb{Q}(v)$ of rational functions in an indeterminate $v$, our proof of this fact is self-contained and independent of the theory of quantum groups. In the general case, over a commutative ring $\Bbbk$ regarded as a $\mathbb{Z}[v,v^{-1}]$-algebra via specialization $v \mapsto q$ for some chosen invertible $q \in \Bbb…
We first provide an explicit combinatorial description of the Auslander-Reiten quiver $Γ^Q$ of finite type $D$. Then we can investigate the categories of finite dimensional representations over the quantum affine algebra $U_q'(D^{(i)}_{n+1})$ $(i=1,2)$ and the quiver Hecke algebra $R_{D_{n+1}}$ associated to $D_{n+1}$ $(n \ge 3)$, by using the combinatorial description and the generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor. As applications, we can prove that Dorey's rule holds for the category $\Rep(R_{D_{n+1}})$ and prove an interesting difference between multiplicity free positive roo…
The quantum Frobenius map and it splitting are shown to descend to corresponding maps for generalized $q$-Schur algebras at a root of unity. We also define analogs of $q$-Schur algebras for any affine algebra, and prove the corresponding results for them.
The quiver Hecke algebra $R$ can be also understood as a generalization of the affine Hecke algebra of type $A$ in the context of the quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality by the results of Kang, Kashiwara and Kim. On the other hand, it is well-known that the Auslander-Reiten(AR) quivers $Γ_Q$ of finite simply-laced types have a deep relation with the positive roots systems of the corresponding types. In this paper, we present explicit combinatorial descriptions for the AR-quivers $Γ_Q$ of finite type $A$. Using the combinatorial descriptions, we can investigate relations between finite dimensiona…
We introduce generalized Frobenius-Schur indicators for pivotal categories. In a spherical fusion category C, an equivariant indicator of an object in C is defined as a functional on the Grothendieck algebra of the quantum double Z(C) via generalized Frobenius-Schur indicators. The set of all equivariant indicators admits a natural action of the modular group. Using the properties of equivariant indicators, we prove a congruence subgroup theorem for modular categories. As a consequence, all modular representations of a modular category have finite images, and they satisfy a conjecture of Eholz…
Classically, the exponent of a group is the least common multiple of the orders of its elements. This notion was generalized by Etingof and Gelaki to the context of Hopf algebras. Kashina, Sommerhauser and Zhu later observed that there is a strong connection between exponents and Frobenius-Schur indicators. In this paper, we introduce the notion of twisted exponents and show that there is a similar relationship between the twisted exponent and the twisted Frobenius-Schur indicators defined in previous work of the authors. In particular, we exhibit a new formula for the twisted Frobenius-Schur …
We prove an integral version of the Schur--Weyl duality between the specialized Birman--Murakami--Wenzl algebra $B_n(-q^{2m+1},q)$ and the quantum algebra associated to the symplectic Lie algebra sp_{2m}. In particular, we deduce that this Schur--Weyl duality holds over arbitrary (commutative) ground rings, which answers a question of Lehrer and Zhang [Strongly multiplicity free modules for Lie algebras and quantum groups, J. Algebra (1) 306 (2006), 138--174] in the symplectic case. As a byproduct, we show that, as $Z[q,q^{-1}]$-algebra, the quantized coordinate algebra defined by Kashiwara is…
A Hecke endomorphism algebra is a natural generalisation of the $q$-Schur algebra associated with the symmetric group to a Coxeter group. For Weyl groups, B. Parshall, L. Scott and the first author \cite{DPS,DPS4} investigated the stratification structure of these algebras in order to seek applications to representations of finite groups of Lie type. In this paper we investigate the presentation problem for Hecke endomorphism algebras associated with arbitrary Coxeter groups. Our approach is to present such algebras by quivers with relations. If $R$ is the localisation of $\mathbb Z[q]$ at the…
We prove a Schur-Weyl duality between the quantum enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{gl}_m$ and certain quotient algebras of Ariki-Koike algebras, which we give explicitly. The duality involves several algebraically independent parameters and is realized through the tensor product of a parabolic universal Verma module and a tensor power of the natural representation of $\mathfrak{gl}_m$. We also give a new presentation by generators and relations of the generalized blob algebras of Martin and Woodcock as well as an interpretation in terms of Schur-Weyl duality by showing they occur as a particul…
For a Dynkin quiver $Q$ of type ADE and a sum $β$ of simple roots, we construct a bimodule over the quantum loop algebra and the quiver Hecke algebra of the corresponding type via equivariant K-theory, imitating Ginzburg-Reshetikhin-Vasserot's geometric realization of the quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality. Our construction is based on Hernandez-Leclerc's isomorphism between a certain graded quiver variety and the space of representations of the quiver $Q$ of dimension vector $β$. We identify the functor induced from our bimodule with Kang-Kashiwara-Kim's generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl d…
We give an interpretation of the boson-fermion correspondence as a direct consequence of Jacobi-Trudi identity. This viewpoint enables us to construct from a generalized version of the Jacobi-Trudi identity the action of Clifford algebra on polynomial algebras that arrives as analogues of the algebra of symmetric functions. A generalized Giambelli identity is also proved to follow from that identity. As applications, we obtain explicit formulas for vertex operators corresponding to characters of the classical Lie algebras, shifted Schur functions, and generalized Schur symmetric functions asso…
It is known that a generalized $q$-Schur algebra may be constructed as a quotient of a quantized enveloping algebra $\UU$ or its modified form $\dot{\UU}$. On the other hand, we show here that both $\UU$ and $\dot{\UU}$ may be constructed within an inverse limit of a certain inverse system of generalized $q$-Schur algebras. Working within the inverse limit $\hat{\UU}$ clarifies the relation between $\dot{\UU}$ and $\UU$. This inverse limit is a $q$-analogue of the linear dual $R[G]^*$ of the coordinate algebra of a corresponding linear algebraic group $G$.
For a Dynkin quiver $Q$ (of type ADE), we consider a central completion of the convolution algebra of the equivariant K-group of a certain Steinberg type graded quiver variety. We observe that it is affine quasi-hereditary and prove that its category of finite-dimensional modules is identified with a block of Hernandez-Leclerc's monoidal category $\mathcal{C}_Q$ of modules over the quantum loop algebra $U_q(L\mathfrak{g})$ via Nakajima's homomorphism. As an application, we show that Kang-Kashiwara-Kim's generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor gives an equivalence between the cate…
In 1911 Schur computed the spin character values of the symmetric group using two important ingredients: the first one later became famously known as the Schur Q-functions and the second one was certain creative construction of the projective characters on Clifford algebras. In the context of the McKay correspondence and affine Lie algebras, the first part was generalized to all wreath products by the vertex operator calculus in \cite{FJW} where a large part of the character table was produced. The current paper generalizes the second part and provides the missing projective character values f…
