We construct a representation of the blob algebra over a ring allowing base change to every interesting (i.e. non--semisimple) specialisation which, in quasihereditary specialisations, passes to a full tilting module.
We study the properties of tilting modules in the context of properly stratified algebras. In particular, we answer the question when the Ringel dual of a properly stratified algebra is properly stratified itself, and show that the class of properly stratified algebras for which the characteristic tilting and cotilting modules coincide is closed under taking the Ringel dual. Studying stratified algebras, whose Ringel dual is properly stratified, we discover a new Ringel-type duality for such algebras, which we call the two-step duality. This duality arises from the existence of a new (generali…
We describe several general methods for calculating weights of mixed tilting sheaves. We introduce a notion called "non-cancellation property" which implies a strong uniqueness of mixed tilting sheaves and enables one to calculate their weights effectively. When we have a certain Radon transform, we prove a geometric analogue of Ringel duality which sends tilting objects to projective objects. We apply these methods to (partial) flag varieties and affine (partial) flag varieties and show that the weight polynomials of mixed tilting sheaves on flag and affine flag varieties are essentially give…
The blob algebra is a finite-dimensional quotient of the Hecke algebra of type $B$ which is almost always quasi-hereditary. We construct the indecomposable tilting modules for the blob algebra over a field of characteristic $0$ in the doubly critical case. Every indecomposable tilting module of maximal highest weight is either a projective module or an extension of a simple module by a projective module. Moreover, every indecomposable tilting module is a submodule of an indecomposable tilting module of maximal highest weight. We conclude that the graded Weyl multiplicities of the indecomposabl…
Let $\Field$ be an algebraically closed field. For $n \in \mathbb{N}$ and $δ, δ_L, δ_R, κ_L, κ_R, κ\in \Field$, the symplectic blob algebra $\sba(δ, δ_L, δ_R, κ_L, κ_R, κ)$ is a finite dimensional non-commutative $\Field$-algebra that may be viewed as an extension of the Temperley-Lieb algebra. In a previous paper, we defined, for any $n \in \mathbb{N}$, a tensor space module $\tensor[_\sba]{\mathcal{V}(n)}{}$. In this paper we generalise an argument used by Martin and Ryom-Hansen in their study of the (ordinary) blob algebra to show that when $\sba$ is quasihereditary the module $\tensor[_\sb…
We give a complete picture of the interaction between Koszul and Ringel dualities for graded standardly stratified algebras (in the sense of Cline, Parshall and Scott) admitting linear tilting (co)resolutions of standard and proper costandard modules. We single out a certain class of graded standardly stratified algebras imposing the condition that standard filtrations of projective modules are finite, and develop the tilting theory for such algebras. Under the assumption of existence of linear tilting (co)resolutions we show that algebras from this class are Koszul, that both Ringel and Koszu…
We give an algorithm for working out the indecomposable direct summands in a Krull--Schmidt decomposition of a tensor product of two simple modules for G=SL_3 in characteristics 2 and 3. It is shown that there is a finite family of modules such that every such indecomposable summand is expressible as a twisted tensor product of members of that family. Along the way we obtain the submodule structure of various Weyl and tilting modules. Some of the tilting modules that turn up in characteristic 3 are not rigid; these seem to provide the first example of non-rigid tilting modules for algebraic gr…
We show that there exists a natural non-degenerate pairing of the homomorphism space between two neighbor standard modules over a quasi-hereditary algebra with the first extension space between the corresponding costandard modules and vise versa. Investigation of this phenomenon leads to a family of pairings involving standard, costandard and tilting modules. In the graded case, under some "Koszul-like" assumptions (which we prove are satisfied for example for the blocks of the category $\mathcal{O}$), we obtain a non-degenerate pairing between certain graded homomorphism and graded extension …
Given a good $n$-tilting module $T$ over a ring $A$, let $B$ be the endomorphism ring of $T$, it is an open question whether the kernel of the left-derived functor $T\otimes^L_B-$ between the derived module categories of $B$ and $A$ could be realized as the derived module category of a ring $C$ via a ring epimorphism $B\rightarrow C$ for $n\ge 2$. In this paper, we first provide a uniform way to deal with the above question both for tilting and cotilting modules by considering a new class of modules called Ringel modules, and then give criterions for the kernel of $T\otimes^L_B-$ to be equival…
We study tilting and projective-injective modules in a parabolic BGG category $\mathcal O$ for an arbitrary classical Lie superalgebra. We establish a version of Ringel duality for this type of Lie superalgebras which allows to express the characters of tilting modules in terms of those of simple modules in that category. We also obtain a classification of projective-injective modules in the full BGG category $\mathcal O$ for all simple classical Lie superalgebras. We then classify and give an explicit combinatorial description of parabolic subalgebras of the periplectic Lie superalgebras and …
Let $\mathbb{X}$ be a weighted projective line and $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$ the associated categoy of coherent sheaves. We classify the tilting complexes $T$ in $D^b(\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X})$ such that $τ^2 T\cong T$, where $τ$ is the Auslander-Reiten translation in $D^b(\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X})$. As an application of this result, we classify the 2-representation-finite algebras which are derived-equivalent to a canonical algebra. This complements Iyama-Oppermann's classification of the iterated tilted 2-representation-finite algebras. By passing to 3-preprojective algebras, we…
In this paper we treat the $τ$-tilting finiteness of biserial (respectively special biserial) algebras over algebraically closed (respectively arbitrary) fields. Inside these families, to compare the notions of representation-finiteness and $τ$-tilting finiteness, we reduce the problem to the $τ$-tilting finiteness of minimal representation-infinite (special) biserial algebras. Building upon the classification of minimal representation-infinite algebras, we fully determine which minimal representation-infinite (special) biserial algebras are $τ$-tilting finite and which ones are not. To do so,…
Let $\mathcal{A}$ be an arbitrary hereditary abelian category that may not have enough projective objects. For example, $\mathcal{A}$ can be the category of finite-dimensional representations of a quiver or the category of coherent sheaves on a smooth projective curve or on a weighted projective line. Inspired by the works of Bridgeland and Gorsky, we define the semi-derived Ringel-Hall algebra of $\mathcal{A}$, denoted by $\mathcal{S}\mathcal{D}\mathcal{H}_{\mathbb{Z}/2}(\mathcal{A})$, to be the localization of a quotient algebra of the Ringel-Hall algebra of the category of $\mathbb{Z}/2$-gr…
We build a bijection between the set $\sttiltΛ$ of isomorphism classes of basic support $τ$-tilting modules over the Auslander algebra $Λ$ of $K[x]/(x^n)$ and the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_{n+1}$, which is an anti-isomorphism of partially ordered sets with respect to the generation order on $\sttiltΛ$ and the left order on $\mathfrak{S}_{n+1}$. This restricts to the bijection between the set $\tiltΛ$ of isomorphism classes of basic tilting $Λ$-modules and the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ due to Brüstle, Hille, Ringel and Röhrle. Regarding the preprojective algebra $Γ$ of Dynkin type $A…
We give a complete picture of the interaction between Koszul and Ringel dualities for quasi-hereditary algebras admitting linear tilting (co)resolutions of standard and costandard modules. We show that such algebras are Koszul, that the class of these algebras is closed with respect to both dualities and that on this class these two dualities commute. All arguments reduce to short computations in the bounded derived category of graded modules.
Let T be a tilting object in a triangulated category equivalent to the bounded derived category of a hereditary abelian category with finite dimensional homomorphism spaces and split idempotents. This text investigates the strong global dimension, in the sense of Ringel, of the endomorphism algebra of T. This invariant is expressed using the infimum of the lengths of the sequences of tilting objects successively related by tilting mutations and where the last term is T and the endomorphism algebra of the first term is quasi-tilted. It is also expressed in terms of the hereditary abelian genera…
Dualities of resolving subcategories of finitely generated modules over Artin algebras are characterized as dualities with respect to Wakamatsu tilting bimodules. By restriction of these dualities to resolving subcategories of finitely generated modules with finite projective or Gorenstein-projective dimensions, Miyashita's duality and Huisgen-Zimmermann's correspondence on tilting modules as well as their Gorenstein version are obtained. Applications include constructing triangle equivalences of derived categories of finitely generated Gorenstein-projective modules and showing the invariance …
We show that a properly stratified algebra is Gorenstein if and only if the characteristic tilting module coincides with the characteristic cotilting module. We further show that properly stratified Gorenstein algebras $A$ enjoy strong homological properties such as all Gorenstein projective modules being properly stratified and all endomorphism rings $\operatorname{End}_A(Δ(i))$ being Frobenius algebras. We apply our results to the study of properly stratified algebras that are minimal Auslander-Gorenstein algebras in the sense of Iyama-Solberg and calculate under suitable conditions their Ri…
In this paper we investigate the endomorphism algebras of standard cluster tilting objects in the stably 2-Calabi-Yau categories $\Sub{Λ_w}$ with elements $w$ in Coxeter groups in \cite{BIRSc}. They are examples of the 2-Auslander algebras introduced in \cite{I1}. Generalizing work in \cite{GLS1} we show that they are quasihereditary, even strongly quasihereditary in the sense of \cite{R}. We also describe the cluster tilting object giving rise to the Ringel dual, and prove that there is a duality between $\Sub{Λ_w}$ and the category $\mathcal{F}(Δ)$ of good modules over the quasihereditary al…
Canonical algebras, introduced by C.M. Ringel in 1984, play an important role in the representation theory of finite dimensional algebras. They are equipped with a large contact surface to many further mathematical subjects like function theory, 3-manifolds, singularity theory, commutative algebra and algebraic geometry. We show in this paper that canonical algebras are characterized by a number of interesting extremal properties (among the class of endomorphism rings of tilting bundles on a weighted projective line). We also study the corresponding class of algebras antipodal to canonical one…
Inspired by recent work of Bridgeland, from the category C^b(E) of bounded complexes over an exact category E satisfying certain finiteness conditions, we construct an associative unital "semi-derived Hall algebra" SDH(E). This algebra is an object sitting, in some sense, between the usual Hall algebra H(C^b(E)) and the Hall algebra of the bounded derived category D^b(E), introduced by Toen and further generalized by Xiao and Xu. It has the structure of a free module over a suitably defined quantum torus of acyclic complexes, with a basis given by the isomorphism classes of objects in the boun…
The representation theory of the symmetric group has been intensively studied for over 100 years and is one of the gems of modern mathematics. The full transformation monoid $\mathfrak T_n$ (the monoid of all self-maps of an $n$-element set) is the monoid analogue of the symmetric group. The investigation of its representation theory was begun by Hewitt and Zuckerman in 1957. Its character table was computed by Putcha in 1996 and its representation type was determined in a series of papers by Ponizovski{\uı}, Putcha and Ringel between 1987 and 2000. From their work, one can deduce that the glo…
We study Artin algebras $A$ and commutative Noetherian complete local rings $R$ in connection with the following decomposition property of Gorenstein-projective modules: $(*)$ any Gorenstein-projective module is a direct sum of finitely generated modules. We show that this direct decomposition property is related to the property of the algebra $A$, or the ring $R$, being (virtually) Gorenstein of finite Cohen-Macaquly type. Along the way we generalize classical results of Auslander and Ringel-Tachikawa from the early seventies, and results of Chen and Yoshino on the structure of Gorenstein-pro…
Weighted projective lines, introduced by Geigle and Lenzing in 1987, are important objects in representation theory. They have tilting bundles, whose endomorphism algebras are the canonical algebras introduced by Ringel. The aim of this paper is to study their higher dimensional analogs. First, we introduce a certain class of commutative Gorenstein rings $R$ graded by abelian groups $L$ of rank $1$, which we call Geigle-Lenzing complete intersections. We study the stable category of Cohen-Macaulay representations $CM^LR$, which coincides with the singularity category $D_{sg}^L(R)$. We show tha…
