Local cohomology modules with infinite dimensional socles

Let T be a commutative Noetherian local ring of dimension at least two and R=T[x_1,...,x_n] a polynomial ring in n variables over T. Consider R as a graded ring with deg T = 0 and deg x_i = 1 for all i. Let I=R_+ and f a homogeneous polynomial whose coefficients form a system of parameters for T. We show that the socle of H^n_I(R/fR) is infinite dimensional, generalizing an example due to Hartshorne.

Socle finiteness of local cohomology modules and Gorenstein ideals

The purpose of this paper is to give some equivalent conditions to the socle and Bass numbers' conjectures which raised by C. Huneke in (Problems on local cohomology, Free resolutions in commutative algebra and algebraic geometry, Res. Notes Math. 1992, pp. 93-108). In addition, some results about certain Gorenstein ideals are included.

On asymptotic socle degrees of local cohomology modules

Let $R$ be a standard graded algebra over a field $k$ and $I$ be a homogeneous ideal of $R$. We study the question whether there is a constant $c$ such that $\Soc(H^{j}_{\fm}(R/I^t))_{<-ct}=0$ for all $t\geq 1$ and a variation of this question. We also draw a connection between this question and the notion of gauge-boundedness in prime characteristic.

Socles of Buchsbaum modules, complexes and posets

The socle of a graded Buchsbaum module is studied and is related to its local cohomology modules. This algebraic result is then applied to face enumeration of Buchsbaum simplicial complexes and posets. In particular, new necessary conditions on face numbers and Betti numbers of such complexes and posets are established. Decomposition of local cohomology tables of modules with large E-depth

We introduce the notion of E-depth of graded modules over polynomial rings to measure the depth of certain Ext modules. On Invariants and Endomorphism Rings of Local Cohomology Modules

Let $(R,\mathfrak{m})$ denote an $n$-dimensional Gorenstein ring. For an ideal $I \subset R$ with $\grade I = c$ we define new numerical invariants $τ_{i,j}(I)$ as the socle dimensions of $H^i_{\mathfrak{m}}(H^{n-j}_I(R))$. In case of a regular local ring containing a field these numbers coincide with the Lyubeznik numbers $λ_{i,j}(R/I)$. Given a module M over a ring R which has a grading by a semigroup Q, we present a spectral sequence that computes the local cohomology of M at any Q-graded ideal I in terms of Ext modules. In this paper we prove the following generalization of a result of Hartshorne: Let $(S,\n)$ be a regular local ring of dimension $4$. Assume that $x,y,u,v$ is a regular system of parameters for $S$ and $a:=xu+yv$. An example of an infinite set of associated primes of a local cohomology module

Let $(R,m)$ be a local Noetherian ring, let $I\subset R$ be any ideal and let $M$ be a finitely generated $R$-module. In 1990 Craig Huneke conjectured that the local cohomology modules $H^i_I(M)$ have finitely many associated primes for all $i$. In this paper I settle this conjecture by constructing a local cohomology module of a local $k$-algebra with an infinite set of associated primes, and I do this for any field $k$.
