Equivariant symbol calculus for differential operators acting on forms

We prove the existence and uniqueness of a projectively equivariant symbol map (in the sense of Lecomte and Ovsienko) for the spaces $D_p$ of differential operators transforming p-forms into functions. These results hold over a smooth manifold endowed with a flat projective structure. As an application, we classify the Vect(M)-equivariant maps from $D_p$ to $D_q$ over any manifold M, recovering and improving earlier results by N. Poncin. This provides the complete answer to a question raised by P. Lecomte about the extension of a certain intrinsic homotopy operator.

Projectively equivariant symbol calculus for bidifferential operators

We prove the existence and uniqueness of a *projectively equivariant symbol map*, which is an isomorphism between the space of bidifferential operators acting on tensor densities over $R^n$ and that of their symbols, when both are considered as modules over an imbedding of $sl(n+1,\R)$ into polynomial vector fields. Positivity in equivariant Schubert calculus

We prove a conjecture of Dale Peterson on positivity in the multiplication in the T-equivariant cohomology of the flag variety. The theorem follows from a more general positivity result about the equivariant cohomology of varieties with actions of a solvable group with finitely many orbits. This more general result is an equivariant version of a theorem of Kumar and Nori.

Differential operators on supercircle: conformally equivariant quantization and symbol calculus

We consider the supercircle $S^{1|1}$ equipped with the standard contact structure. The conformal Lie superalgebra K(1) acts on $S^{1|1}$ as the Lie superalgebra of contact vector fields; it contains the Möbius superalgebra $osp(1|2)$. We study the space of linear differential operators on weighted densities as a module over $osp(1|2)$. We introduce the canonical isomorphism between this space and the corresponding space of symbols and find interesting resonant cases where such an isomorphism does not exist.

A pseudo-differential calculus on graded Lie groups

In this paper, we present first results of our investigation regarding symbolic pseudo-differential calculi on nilpotent Lie groups. On any graded Lie group, we define classes of symbols using difference operators. The operators are obtained from these symbols via the natural quantisation given by the representation theory. They form an algebra of operators which shares many properties with the usual Hormander calculus.

A pseudo-differential calculus on the Heisenberg group

In this note we present a symbolic pseudo-differential calculus on the Heisenberg group. We particularise to this group our general construction [4,3,2] of pseudo-differential calculi on graded groups. The relation between the Weyl quantization and the representations of the Heisenberg group enables us to consider here scalar-valued symbols. We find that the conditions defining the symbol classes are similar but different to the ones in [1]. Applications are given to Schwartz hypoellipticity and to subelliptic estimates on the Heisenberg group.

Generalized Schubert Calculus

In this paper we study the T-equivariant generalized cohomology of flag varieties using two models, the Borel model and the moment graph model. We study the differences between the Schubert classes and the Bott-Samelson classes. After setup of the general framework we compute, for classes of Schubert varieties of complex dimension <4 in rank 2 (including A_2, B_2, G_2 and A_1^{(1)}), moment graph representatives, Pieri-Chevalley formulas and products of Schubert classes. Quantum Integrability and Generalised Quantum Schubert Calculus

We introduce and study a new mathematical structure in the generalised (quantum) cohomology theory for Grassmannians. Namely, we relate the Schubert calculus to a quantum integrable system known in the physics literature as the asymmetric six-vertex model. Our approach offers a new perspective on already established and well-studied special cases, for example equivariant K-theory, and in addition allows us to formulate a conjecture on the so-far unknown case of quantum equivariant K-theory.

Intrinsic pseudodifferential calculi on any compact Lie group

In this paper, we define in an intrinsic way operators on a compact Lie group by means of symbols using the representations of the group. The main purpose is to show that these operators form a symbolic pseudo-differential calculus which coincides or generalises the (local) Hörmander pseudo-differential calculus on the group viewed as a compact manifold.

Affine Hecke algebras and the Schubert calculus

Using a combinatorial approach which avoids geometry, this paper studies the ring structure of K_T(G/B), the T-equivariant K-theory of the (generalized) flag variety G/B. Here the data is a complex reductive algebraic group (or symmetrizable Kac-Moody group) G, a Borel subgroup B, and a maximal torus T, and K_T(G/B) is the Grothendieck group of T-equivariant coherent sheaves on G/B. A Weyl Calculus on Symplectic Phase Space

We study the twisted Weyl symbol of metaplectic operators; this requires the definition of an index for symplectic paths related to the Conley-Zehnder index. We thereafter define a metaplectically covariant algebra of pseudo-differential operators acting on functions on symplectic space.

Local and global symbols on compact Lie groups

On the torus, it is possible to assign a global symbol to a pseudodifferential operator using Fourier series. In this paper we investigate the relations between the local and global symbols for the operators in the classical Hörmander calculus and describe the principal symbols, the non-commutative residue and the canonical trace of an operator in terms of its global symbol. We also generalise these results to any compact Lie group.
