An action of ${\mathbb Z}^k$ is associated to a higher rank graph $Λ$ satisfying a mild assumption. This generalises the construction of a topological Markov shift arising from a nonnegative integer matrix. We show that the stable Ruelle algebra of $Λ$ is strongly Morita equivalent to $C^*(Λ)$. Hence, if $Λ$ satisfies the aperiodicity condition, the stable Ruelle algebra is simple, stable and purely infinite.
We show that Bogoljubov actions of $\mathbb{R}$ on the free group factor $L(\mathbb{F}_{\infty})$ associated to sums of infinite multiplicity trivial and certain mixing representations are cocycle conjugate if and only if the underlying representations are conjugate.
Toward the complete classification of poly-$\mathbb{Z}$ group actions on Kirchberg algebras, we prove several fundamental theorems that are used in the classification. In addition, as an application of them, we classify outer actions of poly-$\mathbb{Z}$ groups of Hirsch length not greater than three on unital Kirchberg algebras up to $KK$-trivial cocycle conjugacy.
Dynamical conditions that guarantee stability for discrete transformation group $C^*$-algebras are determined. The results are applied to the case of some discrete subgroups of $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ acting on the plane with the origin removed by means of matrix multiplication of vectors. In the case of cocompact subgroups, further properties of such crossed products are deduced from properties of the $C^*$-algebra associated to the horocycle flow on the corresponding compact homogeneous space of $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$.
Consider an arbitrary extension of a free $\mathbb Z^d$-action on the Cantor set. It is shown that it has dynamical asymptotic dimension at most $3^d - 1$.
This is the second part of our serial work on the classification of poly-$\mathbb{Z}$ group actions on Kirchberg algebras. Based on technical results obtained in our previous work, we completely reduce the problem to the classification of continuous fields of Kirchberg algebras over the classifying spaces. As an application, we determine the number of cocycle conjugacy classes of outer $\mathbb{Z}^n$-actions on the Cuntz algebras.
Consider a minimal free topological dynamical system $(X, T, \mathbb{Z}^d)$. It is shown that the comparison radius of the crossed product C*-algebra $\mathrm{C}(X) \rtimes \mathbb{Z}^d$ is at most the half of the mean topological dimension of $(X, T, \mathbb{Z}^d)$. As a consequence, the C*-algebra $\mathrm{C}(X) \rtimes \mathbb{Z}^d$ is classifiable if $(X, T, \mathbb{Z}^d)$ has zero mean dimension.
We study diagonal actions $φ:\mathbb{F}_2\curvearrowright\partial\mathbb{F}_2\times K$ on the Cantor set which are given by $φ_a=\partial_a\timesα,φ_b=\partial_b\timesβ$. Under some restrictions on $α,β$ we compute $K_*(C(\partial\mathbb{F}_2\times K)\rtimes_r\mathbb{F}_2)$. As an application in the case of $α$ is Denjoy homeomorphism of the Cantor set and $β=id$ we will show that $C(\partial\mathbb{F}_2\times K)\rtimes_r\mathbb{F}_2$ is Kirchberg algebra with $K_*(C(\partial\mathbb{F}_2\times K)\rtimes_r\mathbb{F}_2)=(\mathbb{Z}^\infty,\mathbb{Z}^\infty)$. Also we will check that $C^*$-crosse…
Let $U$ and $V$ be open subsets of the Cantor set with finite disjoint complements, and let $h:U\to V$ be a homeomorphism with dense orbits. Building from the ideas of Herman, Putnam, and Skau, we show that the partial action induced by $h$ can be realized as the Vershik map on a Bratteli diagram, and that any two such diagrams are equivalent.
We prove that for a weakly mixing algebraic action $σ: G\curvearrowright(X,ν)$, the $n$-cohomology group $H^n(G\curvearrowright X; \mathbb{T})$, after quotienting out the natural subgroup $H^n(G,\mathbb{T})$, contains $H^n(G,\widehat{X})$ as a natural subgroup for $n=1$. If we further assume the diagonal actions $σ^2, σ^4$ are $\mathbb{T}$-cocycle superrigid and $H^2(G, \widehat{X})$ is torsion free as an abelian group, then the above also holds true for $n=2$. Applying it for principal algebraic actions when $n=1$, we show that $H^2(G,\mathbb{Z}G)$ is torsion free as an abelian group when $G$…
We study homomorphisms of locally compact quantum groups from the point of view of integrability of the associated action. For a given homomorphism of quantum groups $Π\colon\mathbb{H}\to\mathbb{G}$ we introduce quantum groups $\mathbb{H}/\!\kerΠ$ and $\overline{\mathrm{im}\,Π}$ corresponding to the classical quotient by kernel and closure of image. We show that if the action of $\mathbb{H}$ on $\mathbb{G}$ associated to $Π$ is integrable then $\mathbb{H}/\!\kerΠ\cong\overline{\mathrm{im}\,Π}$ and characterize such $Π$. As a particular case we consider an injective continuous homomorphism $Π\c…
We investigate the structure of circle actions with the Rokhlin property, particularly in relation to equivariant $KK$-theory. Our main results are $\mathbb{T}$-equivariant versions of celebrated results of Kirchberg: any Rokhlin action on a separable, nuclear C*-algebra is $KK^\mathbb{T}$-equivalent to a Rokhlin action on a Kirchberg algebra; any Rokhlin action on an exact separable C*-algebra embeds equivariantly into $\mathcal{O}_2$ (with its unique Rokhlin action); and two circle actions with the Rokhlin property on a Kirchberg algebra are conjugate if and only if they are $KK^\mathbb{T}$-…
We examine a spectral sequence that is naturally associated with the Baum-Connes Conjecture with coefficients for $\mathbb Z^n$ and also constitutes an instance of Kasparov's construction in his work on equivariant $KK$-theory. For $k\leq n$, we give a partial description of the $k$-th page differential of this spectral sequence, which takes into account the natural $\mathbb Z^k$-subactions. In the special case that the action is trivial in $K$-theory, the associated second page differential is given by a formula involving the second page differentials of the canonical $\mathbb Z^2$-subactions…
We show that Cantor minimal $\mathbb{Z}\rtimes\mathbb{Z}_2$-systems and essentially free amenable odometers are almost finite. We also compute the homology groups of Cantor minimal $\mathbb{Z}\rtimes\mathbb{Z}_2$-systems and show that the associated transformation groupoids satisfy the HK conjecture if and only if the action is free.
We lift an action of a torus $\mathbb{T}^n$ on the spectrum of a continuous trace algebra to an action of a certain crossed module of Lie groups that is an extension of $\mathbb{R}^n$. We compute equivariant Brauer and Picard groups for this crossed module and describe the obstruction to the existence of an action of $\mathbb{R}^n$ in our framework.
By analogy with the construction of the Furstenberg boundary, the Stone-{\v C}ech boundary of $\SL(3,\mathbb{Z})$ is a fibered space over products of projective matrices. The proximal behaviour on this space is exploited to show that the preimages of certain sequences have accumulation points which belong to specific regions, defined in terms of flags. We show that the $\SL(3,\mathbb{Z})\times \SL(3,\mathbb{Z})$-quasi-invariant Radon measures supported on these regions are tempered. Thus every quasi-invariant Radon boundary measure for $\SL(3,\mathbb{Z})$ is an orthogonal sum of a tempered mea…
The main objective of this article is to develop the theory of deformation of $C^*$-algebras endowed with a group action, from the perspective of non-formal equivariant quantization. This program, initiated in \cite{Bieliavsky-Gayral}, aims to extend Rieffel's deformation theory \cite{Ri} for more general groups than $\mathbb R^d$. In \cite{Bieliavsky-Gayral}, we have constructed such a theory for a class of non-Abelian Lie groups. In the present article, we study the somehow opposite situation of Abelian but non-Lie groups. More specifically, we construct here a deformation theory of $C^*$-al…
