Projective unitary representations of smooth Deligne cohomology groups

We construct projective unitary representations of the smooth Deligne cohomology group of a compact oriented Riemannian manifold of dimension 4k+1, generalizing positive energy representations of the loop group of the circle. We also classify such representations under a certain condition. The number of the equivalence classes of irreducible representations is finite, and is determined by the cohomology of the manifold.

Spectral sequences in smooth generalized cohomology

We consider spectral sequences in smooth generalized cohomology theories, including differential generalized cohomology theories. The main differential spectral sequences will be of the Atiyah-Hirzebruch (AHSS) type, where we provide a filtration by the Cech resolution of smooth manifolds. This allows for systematic study of torsion in differential cohomology. We apply this in detail to smooth Deligne cohomology, differential topological complex K-theory, and to a smooth extension of integral Morava K-theory that we introduce. Tertiary classes for a one-parameter variation of flat connections on a smooth manifold

In this note, we extend the theory of Chern-Cheeger-Simons to construct canonical invariants for a one-parameter family of flat connections on a smooth manifold. These invariants lie in degrees $(2p-2)$-cohomology with $\C/\Z$-cohomology, for $p\geq 2$. Furthermore, they are shown to be rigid in a variation of paths (parametrising flat connections), in degrees at least three.

Cohomology associated to a Poisson structure on Weil bundles

We classify real Poisson structures on complex toric manifolds of type $(1,1)$ and initiate an investigation of their Poisson cohomology. Hodge cohomology of iterated fibred cusp metrics on Witt spaces

On a smoothly stratified space, we identify intersection cohomology of any given perversity with an associated weighted $L^2$ cohomology for iterated fibred cusp metrics on the smooth stratum. In particular given a Witt space, we identify the $L^2$ cohomology of iterated fibred cusp metrics with the middle perversity intersection cohomology of the corresponding stratified space.

Cohomological properties of the smooth globalization of a Harish-Chandra module

We prove the finiteness of the cohomology of torsion-free lattices in a semisimple Lie group of real rank one with coefficients in the distribution vector globalization of Harish-Chandra modules. The cohomology is expressed in terms of automorphic and cusp forms. We also consider the Lie-algebra cohomology of these globalizations for the nilpotent part of the Iwasawa decomposition of the group.

Higher-twisted periodic smooth Deligne cohomology

Degree one twisting of Deligne cohomology, as a differential refinement of integral cohomology, was established in previous work. Here we consider higher degree twists. The Rham complex, hence de Rham cohomology, admits twists of any odd degree. However, in order to consider twists of integral cohomology we need a periodic version. Combining the periodic versions of both ingredients leads us to introduce a periodic form of Deligne cohomology. We demonstrate that this theory indeed admits a twist by a gerbe of any odd degree. Smooth K-Theory

We construct an analytic multiplicative model of smooth K-theory. We further introduce the notion of a smooth K-orientation of a proper submersion and define the associated push-forward which satisfies functoriality, compatibility with pull-back diagrams, and projection and bordism formulas. We construct a multiplicative lift of the Chern character from smooth K-theory to smooth rational cohomology and verify that the cohomological version of the Atiyah-Singer index theorem for families lifts to smooth cohomology.

Differential Borel equivariant cohomology via connections

For a compact Lie group acting on a smooth manifold, we define the differential cohomology of a certain quotient stack involving principal bundles with connection. This produces differential equivariant cohomology groups that map to the Cartan-Weil equivariant forms and to Borel's equivariant integral cohomology. We show the Chern-Weil homomorphism for equivariant vector bundles with connection naturally factors through differential equivariant cohomology.

Intersection cohomology of the moduli space of Higgs bundles on a genus 2 curve

Let $C$ be a smooth projective curve of genus $2$. Following a method by O' Grady, we construct a semismall desingularization $\tilde{\mathcal{M}}_{Dol}^G$ of the moduli space $\mathcal{M}_{Dol}^G$ of semistable $G$-Higgs bundles of degree 0 for $G=GL(2,\mathbb{C}), SL(2,\mathbb{C})$. By the decomposition theorem by Beilinson, Bernstein, Deligne one can write the cohomology of $\tilde{\mathcal{M}}_{Dol}^G$ as a direct sum of the intersection cohomology of $\mathcal{M}_{Dol}^G$ plus other summands supported on the singular locus.
