Starting with any R-matrix with spectral parameter, obeying the Yang-Baxter equation and a unitarity condition, we construct the corresponding infinite dimensional quantum group U_{R} in term of a deformed oscillators algebra A_R. The realization we present is an infinite series, very similar to a vertex operator.
Then, considering the integrable hierarchy naturally associated to A_{R}, we show that U_{R} provides its integrals of motion. The construction can be applied to any infinite dimensional quantum group, e.g. Yangians or elliptic quantum groups.
Taking as an example the R-matrix of Y(N), the Yangian based on gl(N), we recover by this construction the nonlinear Schrodinger equation and its Y(N) symmetry.
An $U_q(sl(n))$ invariant transfer matrix with periodic boundary conditions is analysed by means of the algebraic nested Bethe ansatz for the case of $q$ being a root of unity. The transfer matrix corresponds to a 2-dimensional vertex model on a torus with topological interaction w.r.t. the 3-dimensional interior of the torus. By means of finite size analysis we find the central charge of the corresponding Virasoro algebra as $c=(n-1) \left[1-n(n+1)/(r(r-1))\right] $.
We introduce and study several combinatorial properties of a class of symmetric polynomials from the point of view of integrable vertex models in finite lattice. We introduce the $L$-operator related with the $U_q(sl_2)$ $R$-matrix, and construct the wavefunctions and their duals. We prove the exact correspondence between the wavefunctions and symmetric polynomials which is a quantum group deformation of the Grothendieck polynomials. This is proved by combining the matrix product method and an analysis on the domain wall boundary partition functions. As applications of the correspondence betwe…
We consider a homogeneous stochastic higher spin six vertex model in a quadrant. For this model we derive concise integral representations for multi-point q-moments of the height function and for the q-correlation functions. At least in the case of the step initial condition, our formulas degenerate in appropriate limits to many known formulas of such type for integrable probabilistic systems in the (1+1)d KPZ universality class, including the stochastic six vertex model, ASEP, various q-TASEPs, and associated zero range processes. Our arguments are largely based on properties of a family of s…
It is proved that the regularity of parafermion vertex operator algebras associated to integrable highest weight modules for affine Kac-Moody algebra A_1^{(1)} implies the C_2-cofiniteness of parafermion vertex operator algebras associated to integrable highest weight modules for any affine Kac-Moody algebra. In particular, the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to an integrable highest weight module of small level for any affine Kac-Moody algebra is C_2-cofinite and has only finitely many irreducible modules. Also, the parafermion vertex operator algebras with level 1 are determin…
In [1], Nakatsu and Takasaki have shown that the melting crystal model behind the topological strings vertex provides a tau-function of the KP hierarchy after an appropriate time deformation. We revisit their derivation with a focus on the underlying quantum $W_{1+\infty}$ symmetry. Specifically, we point out the role played by automorphisms and the connection with the intertwiner - or vertex operator - of the algebra. This algebraic perspective allows us to extend part of their derivation to the refined melting crystal model, lifting the algebra to the quantum toroidal algebra of $\mathfrak{g…
The reflection operators are the simplest examples of the non-local integrals of motion, which appear in many interesting problems in integrable CFT. For the so-called Fateev, quantum AKNS, paperclip and KdV integrable structures, they are built from the (chiral) reflection S-matrices for the Liouville and cigar CFTs. Here we give the full spectrum of the reflection operators associated with these integrable structures. We also obtained a relation between the reflection S-matrices of the cigar and Liouville CFTs. The results of this work are applicable for the description of the scaling behavi…
A regular vertex operator algebra is a vertex operator algebra such that any weak module (without grading) is a direct sum of ordinary irreducible modules. In this paper we give several sufficient conditions under which a rational vertex operator algebra is regular. We prove that the moonshine module vertex operator algebra $V^{\natural},$ the vertex operator algebras $L(l,0)$ associated with the integrable representations of affine algebras of level $l,$ the vertex operator algebras $L(c_{p,q},0)$ associated with irreducible highest weight representations for the discrete series of the Viraso…
The work is devoted to a probably new connection between deformed Virasoro algebra and quantum $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$. We give an explicit realization of Virasoro current via vertex operators of level 1 integrable representation of $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$. The same is done for a twisted version of deformed Virasoro algebra.
The notion of vertex operator coalgebra is presented which corresponds to the family of correlation functions of one string propagating in space-time splitting into n strings in conformal field theory. This notion is in some sense dual to the notion of vertex operator algebra. We prove that any vertex operator algebra equipped with a non-degenerate, Virasoro preserving, bilinear form gives rise to a corresponding vertex operator coalgebra.
The structure of the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to an integrable highest weight module for any affine Kac-Moody algebra is studied. In particular, a set of generators for this algebra has been determined.
A module M over a vertex algebra V is half-integrable if a_n act locally nilpotently on M for all a in V, m in M, n>0. We study half-integrable modules over sheaves of twisted chiral differential operators (TCDO) on a smooth variety X. We prove an equivalence between certain categories of half-integrable modules over TCDO and categories of (twisted) D-modules on X.
In this paper, the structure of the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to an integrable highest weight module for simple affine Lie superalgebra $osp(1|2n)$ is studied. Particularly, we determine the generators for this algebra.
We give an analogue for vertex operator algebras and superalgebras of the notion of endomorphism ring of a vector space by means of a notion of ``local system of vertex operators'' for a (super) vector space. We first prove that any local system of vertex operators on a (super) vector space $M$ has a natural vertex (super)algebra structure with $M$ as a module. Then we prove that for a vertex (operator) superalgebra $V$, giving a $V$-module $M$ is equivalent to giving a vertex (operator) superalgebra homomorphism from $V$ to some local system of vertex operators on $M$. As applications, we pro…
Haisheng Li showed that given a module (W,Y_W(\cdot,x)) for a vertex algebra (V,Y(\cdot,x)), one can obtain a new V-module W^Δ = (W,Y_W(Δ(x)\cdot,x)) if Δ(x) satisfies certain natural conditions. Li presented a collection of such Δ-operators for V=L(k,0) (a vertex operator algebra associated with an affine Lie algebras, k a positive integer). In this paper, for each irreducible L(k,0)-module W, we find a highest weight vector of W^Δ when Δis associated with a miniscule coweight. From this we completely determine the action of these Δ-operators on the set of isomorphism equivalence classes of L…
The spectral decomposition of the path space of the vertex model associated to the vector representation of the quantized affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_n)$ is studied. We give a one-to-one correspondence between the spin configurations and the semi-standard tableaux of skew Young diagrams. As a result we obtain a formula of the characters for the degeneracy of the spectrum in terms of skew Schur functions. We conjecture that our result describes the $sl_n$-module contents of the Yangian $Y(sl_n)$-module structures of the level 1 integrable modules of the affine Lie algebra $\hat{sl}_n$. An anal…
We introduce the notion of ``local system of $\Bbb{Z}_{T}$-twisted vertex operators'' on a $\Bbb{Z}_{2}$-graded vector space $M$, generalizing the notion of local system of vertex operators [Li]. First, we prove that any local system of $\Bbb{Z}_{T}$-twisted vertex operators on $M$ has a vertex superalgebra structure with an automorphism $σ$ of order $T$ with $M$ as a $σ$-twisted module. Then we prove that for a vertex (operator) superalgebra $V$ with an automorphism $σ$ of order $T$, giving a $σ$-twisted $V$-module $M$ is equivalent to giving a vertex (operator) superalgebra homomorphism from…
Vertex operators associated with level two $U_q(\widehat{sl}_2)$ modules are constructed explicitly using bosons and fermions. An integral formula is derived for the trace of products of vertex operators. These results are applied to give $n$-point spin correlation functions of an integrable $S=1$ quantum spin chain, extending an earlier work of Jimbo {\em et al} for the case $S=1/2$.
We construct embeddings of $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$ in lattice vertex algebras by composing the Wakimoto realization with the Friedan-Martinec-Shenker bosonization. The Kac-Wakimoto hierarchy then gives rise to two new hierarchies of integrable, non-autonomous, non-linear partial differential equations. A new feature of our construction is that it works for any value of the central element of $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$; that is, the level becomes a parameter in the equations.
In the references [HL1]--[HL5] and [H1], a theory of tensor products of modules for a vertex operator algebra is being developed. To use this theory, one first has to verify that the vertex operator algebra satisfies certain conditions. We show in the present paper that for any vertex operator algebra containing a vertex operator subalgebra isomorphic to a tensor product algebra of minimal Virasoro vertex operator algebras (vertex operator algebras associated to minimal models), the tensor product theory can be applied. In particular, intertwining operators for such a vertex operator algebra s…
Unitary vertex operator algebras are introduced and studied. It is proved that most well-known rational vertex operator algebras are unitary. The classification of unitary vertex operator algebras with central charge c less than or equal to 1 is also discussed.
In this paper, the notion of unitary vertex operator superalgebra is introduced. It is proved that the vertex operator superalgebras associated to the unitary highest weight representations for the Neveu-Schwarz Lie superalgebra, Heisenberg superalgebras and to positive definite integral lattices are unitary vertex operator superalgebras. The unitary structures are then used to study the structures of vertex operator superalgebras, it is proved that any unitary vertex operator superalgebra is a direct sum of strong CFT type unitary simple vertex operator superalgebras. The classification of un…
Vertex operator superalgebras are studied and various results on rational Vertex operator superalgebras are obtained. In particular, the vertex operator super subalgebras generated by the weight 1/2 and weight 1 subspaces are determined. It is also established that if the even part $V_{\bar 0}$ of a vertex operator superalgebra $V$ is rational, so is $V.$
We determine fusion rules (dimensions of the space of intertwining operators) among simple modules for the vertex operator algebra obtained as an even part of the symplectic fermionic vertex operator superalgebra. By using these fusion rules we show that the fusion algebra of this vertex operator algebra is isomorphic to the group algebra of the Klein four group over Z.
We consider global generation of sheaves of coinvariants on the moduli space of curves given by simple modules over certain vertex operator algebras, extending results for affine VOAs at integrable levels on stable pointed rational curves. Examples where global generation fails, and further evidence of positivity are given.
We consider a class of weak modules for vertex operator algebras that we call logarithmic modules. We also construct nontrivial examples of intertwining operators between certain logarithmic modules for the Virasoro vertex operator algebra. At the end we speculate about some possible logarithmic intertwiners at the level $c=0$.
The extensions of the affine vertex operator algebras $L_{sl_2}(k,0)$ and the preunitary vertex operator algebras with central charges $c<1$ are classified. In particular, the unitary vertex operator algebras with central charges $c<1$ are classified.
Let V be a simple vertex operator algebra and G a finite automorphism group. We give a construction of intertwining operators for irreducible V^G-modules which occur as submodules of irreducible V-modules by using intertwining operators for V. We also determine some fusion rules for a vertex operator algebra as an application.
The mirror extensions for vertex operator algebras are studied. Two explicit examples which are not simple current extensions of some affine vertex operator algebras of type $A$ are given.
Herein we study conformal vectors of a Z-graded vertex algebra of (strong) CFT type. We prove that the full vertex algebra automorphism group transitively acts on the set of the conformal vectors of strong CFT type if the vertex algebra is simple. The statement is equivalent to the uniqueness of self-dual vertex operator algebra structures of a simple vertex algebra. As an application, we show that the full vertex algebra automorphism group of a simple vertex operator algebra of strong CFT type uniquely decomposes into the product of certain two subgroups and the vertex operator algebra automo…
In this paper it is shown that every irreducible vertex algebra of countable dimension and every simple vertex operator algebra are nondegenerate in the sense of Etingof and Kazhdan.
We give a natural extension of the notion of the contragredient module for a vertex operator algebra. By using this extension we prove that for regular vertex operator algebras, Zhu's $C_{2}$-finiteness condition holds, fusion rules are finite and the vertex operator algebras themselves are finitely generated.
We study graded nonlocal $\underline{\mathsf{q}}$-vertex algebras and we prove that they can be generated by certain sets of vertex operators. As an application, we consider the family of graded nonlocal $\underline{\mathsf{q}}$-vertex algebras $V_{c,1}$, $c\geq 1$, associated with the principal subspaces $W(cΛ_0)$ of the integrable highest weight $U_q (\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$-modules $L(cΛ_0)$. Using quantum integrability, we derive combinatorial bases for $V_{c,1}$ and compute the corresponding character formulae.
We investigate a general structure theory for a vertex operator algebra. We discuss the center and blocks, the Jacobson radical and solvable radical and local vertex operator algebras. The main consequence of our structure theory is that if the vertex operator algebra satisfies some mild conditions then it is necessarily semilocal, i.e. a direct sum of local vertex operator algebras.
It is proved that any vertex operator algebra for which the image of the Virasoro element in Zhu's algebra is algebraic over complex numbers is finitely generated. In particular, any vertex operator algebra with a finite dimensional Zhu's algebra is finitely generated. As a result, any rational vertex operator algebra is finitely generated.
