Let H_{ab} be the equivariant Hilbert scheme parametrizing the 0-dimensional subschemes of the affine plane invariant under the natural action of the one-dimensional torus T_{ab}:={(t^{-b},t^a), t\in k^*}. We compute the irreducible components of H_{ab}: they are in one-one correspondence with a set of Hilbert functions. As a by-product of the proof, we give new proofs of results by Ellingsrud and Stromme, namely the main lemma of the computation of the Betti numbers of the Hilbert scheme H^l parametrizing the 0-dimensional subschemes of the affine plane of length l and a description of Bialynicki-Birula cells on H^l by means of explicit flat families. In particular, we precise conditions of applications of this last description.
Let X be a smooth projective toric surface, and H^d(X) the Hilbert scheme parametrising the length d zero-dimensional subschemes of X. We compute the rational Chow ring A^*(H^d(X))\_Q. More precisely, if T is the two-dimensional torus contained in X, we compute the rational equivariant Chow ring A\_T^*(H^d(X))\_Q and the usual Chow ring is an explicit quotient of the equivariant Chow ring. The case of some quasi-projective toric surfaces such as the affine plane are described by our method too.
Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 and let $H_G(d,N)$ be the open locus of the Hilbert scheme $H(d,N)$ corresponding to Gorenstein subschemes of degree $d$ in the projective N-space. We proved in a previous paper that $H_G(d,N)$ is irreducible for $d\le9$ and $N\ge1$. In the present paper we prove that also $H_G(10,N)$ is irreducible for each $N\ge1$, giving also a complete description of its singular locus.
Pfister and Steenbrink studied punctual Hilbert schemes for irreducible curve singularities. In particular, they investigated the structure of special punctual Hilbert schemes for certain monomial curve singularities. In this paper, we study the punctual Hilbert schemes of all degrees for the curve singularities of types $E_6$ and $E_8$. For our analysis, we introduce computational algorithms to decompose a punctual Hilbert schemes into affine cells. We also use the theory of Gröbner basis and known results about the compactified Jacobian of singular curves to prove our main theorems.
Let $S$ be the affine plane regarded as a toric variety with an action of the 2-dimensional torus $T$. We study the equivariant Chow ring $A_{K}^*(Hilb^n(S))$ of the punctual Hilbert scheme $Hilb^n(S)$ with equivariant coefficients inverted. We compute base change formulas in $A_{K}^*(Hilb^n(S))$ between the natural bases introduced by Nakajima, Ellingsrud and Strømme, and the classical basis associated with the fixed points. We compute the equivariant commutation relations between creation/annihilation operators. We express the class of the small diagonal in $Hilb^n(S)$ in terms of the equiva…
It is known that the variety parametrizing pairs of commuting nilpotent matrices is irreducible and that this provides a proof of the irreducibility of the punctual Hilbert scheme in the plane. We extend this link to the nilpotent commuting variety of parabolic subalgebras of $M\_n(\K)$ and to the punctual nested Hilbert scheme. By this method, we obtain a lower bound on the dimension of these moduli spaces. We characterize the numerical conditions under which they are irreducible. In some reducible cases, we describe the irreducible components and their dimension.
We prove that the Quot-scheme of finite quotients of a vector bundle which are of a given length and supported in one point, is irreducible and of the expected dimension.
The punctual Quot scheme parametrizes all length d quotients of a (locally) trivial rank r sheaf which are supported at a fixed point. The author shows that this scheme is irreducible and (rd-1)-dimensional. The same result was proved independently by Ellingsrud and Lehn.
A rational Lagrangian fibration f on an irreducible symplecitc variety V is a rational map which is birationally equivalent to a regular surjective morphism with Lagrangian fibers. By analogy with K3 surfaces, it is natural to expect that a rational Lagrangian fibration exists if and only if V has a divisor D with Bogomolov--Beauville square 0. This conjecture is proved in the case when V is the punctual Hilbert scheme of a generic algebraic K3 surface S. The construction of f uses a twisted Fourier--Mukai transform which induces a birational isomorphism of V with a certain moduli space of twi…
Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field and let $\Hilb_{d}^{G}(\p{N})$ be the open locus of the Hilbert scheme $\Hilb_{d}(\p{N})$ corresponding to Gorenstein subschemes. We prove that $\Hilb_{d}^{G}(\p{N})$ is irreducible for $d\le9$, we characterize geometrically its singularities for $d\le 8$ and we give some results about them when $d=9$ which give some evidence to a conjecture on the nature of the singular points in $\Hilb_{d}^{G}(\p{N})$.
For a finite subgroup $Γ\subset \mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$ and $n\geq 1$, we construct the (reduced scheme underlying the) Hilbert scheme of $n$ points on the Kleinian singularity $\mathbb{C}^2/Γ$ as a Nakajima quiver variety for the framed McKay quiver of $Γ$, taken at a specific non-generic stability parameter. We deduce that this Hilbert scheme is irreducible (a result previously due to Zheng), normal, and admits a unique symplectic resolution. More generally, we introduce a class of algebras obtained from the preprojective algebra of the framed McKay quiver by a process called cornering, a…
We prove that the only rational homogeneous varieties with Picard number 1 of the exceptional algebraic groups admitting irreducible equivariant Ulrich vector bundles are the Cayley plane $E_6/P_1$ and the $E_7$-adjoint variety $E_7/P_1$. From this result, we see that a general hyperplane section $F_4/P_4$ of the Cayley plane also has an equivariant but non-irreducible Ulrich bundle.
An open question is whether the Hilbert scheme of points of a high dimensional affine space satisfies Murphy's Law, as formulated by Vakil. In this short note, we instead consider the loci in the Hilbert scheme parametrizing punctual schemes with a given Hilbert function, and we show that these loci satisfy Murphy's Law. We also prove a related result for equivariant deformations of curve singularities with $\mathbb G_m$-action.
We study the boundary behavior of the invariant of $K3^{[2]}$-type manifolds with antisymplectic involution, which we obtained using equivariant analytic torsion. We show the algebraicity of the singularity of the invariant by using the asymptotic of equivariant Quillen metrics and equivariant $L^2$-metrics. We prove that, in some cases, the invariant coincides with Yoshikawa's invariant for 2-elementary K3 surfaces. Hence, in these cases, our invariant is expressed as the Petersson norm of a Borcherds product and a Siegel modular form.
Given a complex manifold $X$, a normal crossing divisor $D\subset X$ whose irreducible components $D_1,...,D_s$ are smooth, and a choice of natural numbers $r=(r_1,...,r_s)$, we construct a manifold $X(D,\ur)$ with an action of a torus $Γ$ and we prove that some full subcategory of the category of $Γ$-equivariant vector bundles on $X(D,r)$ is equivalent to the category of parabolic vector bundles on $(X,D)$ in which the lengths of the filtrations over each irreducible component of $X$ are given by $r$. When $X$ is Kaehler, we study the Kaehler cone of $X(D,r)$ and the relation between the corr…
Suppose a finite group acts on a scheme X and a finite-dimensional Lie algebra g. The corresponding equivariant map algebra is the Lie algebra M of equivariant regular maps from X to g. We classify the irreducible finite-dimensional representations of these algebras. In particular, we show that all such representations are tensor products of evaluation representations and one-dimensional representations, and we establish conditions ensuring that they are all evaluation representations. For example, this is always the case if M is perfect. Our results can be applied to multiloop algebras, curre…
Let X be a projective scheme carrying a circle action S with isolated fixed points. We associate a simplicial complex Delta(X,S) of "closure chains" using a refinement of its Morse/Bialynicki-Birula decomposition. If this decomposition is a stratification (e.g. when X is a flag manifold), then Delta(X,S) is just the order complex of the poset of fixed points. For X a toric variety, Delta(X,S) is a triangulation of the moment polytope. We compute some other examples, including a Bott-Samelson manifold and the punctual Hilbert scheme of 4 points in the plane. Summing over the facets of Delta(X,S…
The intersection of a complex plane curve with a small three-sphere surrounding one of its singularities is a non-trivial link. The refined punctual Hilbert schemes of the singularity parameterize subschemes supported at the singular point of fixed length and whose defining ideals have a fixed number of generators. We conjecture that the generating function of Euler characteristics of refined punctual Hilbert schemes is the HOMFLY polynomial of the link. The conjecture is verified for irreducible singularities y^k = x^n, whose links are the k,n torus knots, and for the singularity y^4 = x^7 - …
Suppose that the compact and connected Lie group G acts holomorphically on the irreducible complex projective manifold M, and that the action linearizes to the Hermitian ample line bundle L on M. Assume that 0 is a regular value of the associated moment map. The spaces of global holomorphic sections of powers of L may be decomposed over the finite dimensional irreducible representations of G. In this paper, we study how the holomorphic sections in each equivariant piece asymptotically concentrate along the zero locus of the moment map. In the special case where G acts freely on the zero locus …
We classify projective symmetries of irreducible plane sextics with simple singularities which are stable under equivariant deformations. We also outline a connection between order~2 stable symmetries and maximal trigonal curves.
We construct geometric realizations of the r-colored bosonic and fermionic Fock space on the equivariant cohomology of the moduli space of framed rank r torsion-free sheaves on CP^2. Using these constructions, we realize geometrically all level one irreducible representations of the affine Lie algebra \hat{gl(r)}. The cyclic group Z_k acts naturally on the moduli space of sheaves, and the fixed-point components of this action are cyclic Nakajima quiver varieties . We realize level k irreducible representations of \hat{gl(r)} on the equivariant cohomology of these quiver varieties.
We characterize the irreducible polynomials that occur as a characteristic polynomial of an automorphism of an even unimodular lattice of given signature, generalizing a theorem of Gross and McMullen. As part of the proof, we give a general criterion in terms of Witt groups for a bilinear form equipped with an action of a group G over a discretely valued field to contain a unimodular G-stable lattice.

Let $γ$ be an automorphism of a polarized complex projective manifold $(M,L)$. Then $γ$ induces an automorphism $γ_k$ of the space of global holomorphic sections of the $k$-th tensor power of $L$, for every $k=1,2,...$; for $k\gg 0$, the Lefschetz fixed point formula expresses the trace of $γ_k$ in terms of fixed point data. More generally, one may consider the composition of $γ_k$ with the Toeplitz operator associated to some smooth function on $M$. Still more generally, in the presence of the compatible action of a compact and connected Lie group preserving $(M,L,γ)$, one may consider induce…
Let $G$ be an affine algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic zero. In this paper, we consider finite $G$-equivariant morphisms $F:X\to Y$ of irreducible affine $G$-varieties. First we determine under which conditions on $Y$ the induced map $F^G:X//G\to Y//G$ of quotient varieties is also finite. This result is reformulated in terms of kernels of derivations on $k$-algebras $A\subset B$ such that $B$ is integral over $A$. Second we construct explicitly two examples of finite $G$-equivariant maps $F$. In the first one, $F^G$ is quasifinite but not finite. In the …
