In this article we investigate Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch formulae for line bundles on irreducible symplectic Kähler manifolds. As Huybrechts has shown, for every irreducible complex Kähler manifold $X$ of dimension $2n$, there are numbers $a_0, a_2, ..., a_{2n}$ such that $χ(L) = \sum_{k = 0}^n a_{2k}/(2k)! q_X(c_1(L))^k$ for the Euler characteristic of a line bundle $L$, where $q_X: H^2(X, \mathbbm C) \to \mathbbm C$ is the Beauville-Bogomolov quadratic form of $X$.
Using Rozansky-Witten classes similar to Hitchin and Sawon, we obtain a formula expressing the $a_{2k}$ in terms of Chern numbers of $X$. Furthermore, for the $n$-th generalized Kummer variety $\KA n$, we prove $χ(L) = (n + 1) \binom{q(c_1(L)) / 2 + n} n$ by purely algebro-geometric methods, where $q$ is the form $q_X$ up to a positive rational constant. A similar formula is already known for the Hilbert scheme of zero-dimensional subschemes of length $n$ on a K3-surface.
Using our results, we are able to calculate all Chern numbers of the generalized Kummer varieties $\KA n$ for $n \leq 5$. For $n \leq 4$ these results were previously obtained by Sawon.
We introduce K-theoretic Gromov-Witten invariants of algebraic orbifold target spaces. Using the methods developed by Givental-Tonita we characterize Giventals Lagrangian cone of quantum K theory of orbifolds in terms of the cohomological cone.
We introduce the most general to date version of the permutation-equivariant quantum K-theory, and express its total descendant potential in terms of cohomological Gromov-Witten invariants. This is the higher-genus analogue of adelic characterization from the paper [7] by Givental-Tonita, and is based on the application of Kawasaki's Riemann-Roch formula to moduli spaces of stable maps.
We prove a Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch type formula for global matrix factorizations. This is established by an explicit realization of the abstract Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch type formula of Shklarov. We also show a Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch type theorem.
We give a simple proof of the Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch theorem for smooth complete toric varieties, based on Ishida's result that the Todd genus of a smooth complete toric variety is one.
V. Lunts has recently established Lefschetz fixed point theorems for Fourier-Mukai functors and dg algebras. In the same vein, D. Shklyarov introduced the noncommutative analogue of the Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch theorem. In this short article, we see how these constructions and computations formally stem from their motivic counterparts.
This short note proves a generalization of the Hirzebruch Riemann-Roch theorem equivalent to the Cardy condition described in [1]. This is done using an earlier result [4] that explicitly describes what the Mukai pairing in [1] descends to in Hodge cohomology via the Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg map twisted by the root Todd genus.
We study the category of matrix factorizations for an isolated hypersurface singularity. We compute the canonical bilinear form on the Hochschild homology of this category. We find explicit expressions for the Chern character and the boundary-bulk maps and derive an analog of the Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch formula for the Euler characteristic of the Hom-space between a pair of matrix factorizations. We also establish G-equivariant versions of these results.
Let D be a holomorphic differential operator acting on sections of a holomorphic vector bundle on an n-dimensional compact complex manifold. We prove a formula, conjectured by Feigin and Shoikhet, for the Lefschetz number of D as the integral over the manifold of a differential form. The class of this differential form is obtained via formal differential geometry from the canonical generator of the Hochschild cohomology of the algebra of differential operators in a formal neighbourhood of a point. If D is the identity, the formula reduces to the Riemann--Roch--Hirzebruch formula.
We extract genus $0$ consequences of the all genera quantum HRR formula proved in Part IX. This includes re-proving and generalizing the adelic characterization of genus $0$ quantum K-theory found in [Givental A., Tonita V., in Symplectic, Poisson, and Noncommutative Geometry, Math. Sci. Res. Inst. Publ., Vol. 62, Cambridge University Press, New York, 2014, 43-91]. Extending some results of Part VIII, we derive the invariance of a certain variety (the "big J-function"), constructed from the genus $0$ descendant potential of permutation-equivariant quantum K-theory, under the action of c…
We establish a Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch type theorem and Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch type theorem for matrix factorizations on quotient Deligne-Mumford stacks. For this we first construct a Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg type isomorphism explicit enough to yield a categorical Chern character formula. We next find an expression of the canonical pairing of Shklyarov under the isomorphism.
For an arbitrary proper DG algebra A (i.e. DG algebra with finite dimensional total cohomology) we introduce a pairing on the Hochschild homology of A and present an explicit formula for a Chern-type character of an arbitrary perfect A-module (the Chern characters take values in the Hochschild homology of A). The Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch formula in this context expresses the Euler characteristic of the Hom-complex between two perfect A-modules in terms of the pairing of their Chern characters. We mention two examples of proper DG algebras and the HRR formulas for them. The first example is Ring…
The goal of this paper is to prove Riemann-Roch type theorems for Deligne-Mumford algebraic stacks. To this end, we introduce a "cohomology with coefficients in representations" and a Chern character, and we prove a Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem for the Riemann-Roch transformation it defines. As a corollary we obtain an Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch formula for the Euler characteristic of a coherent sheaf, and some formulas for the different topological Euler characteristics of complex algebraic stacks.
We completely characterize genus-0 K-theoretic Gromov-Witten invariants of a compact complex algebraic manifold in terms of cohomological Gromov-Witten invariants of this manifold. This is done by applying (a virtual version of) the Kawasaki-Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch formula for expressing holomorphic Euler characteristics of orbibundles on moduli spaces of genus-0 stable maps, analyzing the sophisticated combinatorial structure of inertia stacks of such moduli spaces, and employing various quantum Riemann--Roch formulas from "fake" (i.e. orbifold-ignorant) quantum K-theory of manifold and orbif…
Using different forms of the arithmetic Riemann-Roch theorem and the computations of Bott-Chern secondary classes, we compute the analytic torsion and the height of Hirzebruch surfaces.
For a proper scheme X with a fixed 1-perfect obstruction theory, we define virtual versions of holomorphic Euler characteristic, chi y-genus, and elliptic genus; they are deformation invariant, and extend the usual definition in the smooth case. We prove virtual versions of the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch and Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch theorems. We show that the virtual chi y-genus is a polynomial, and use this to define a virtual topological Euler characteristic. We prove that the virtual elliptic genus satisfies a Jacobi modularity property; we state and prove a localization theorem in the toric …
We show that a version of dimensional interpolation for the Riemann--Roch--Hirzebruch formalism in the case of a grassmannian leads to an expression for the Euler characteristic of line bundles in terms of a Selberg integral. We propose a way to interpolate higher Bessel equations, their wedge powers, and monodromies thereof to non--integer orders, and link the result with the dimensional interpolation of the RRH formalism in the spirit of the gamma conjectures.
