Symplectic maps to projective spaces and symplectic invariants

After reviewing recent results on symplectic Lefschetz pencils and symplectic branched covers of CP^2, we describe a new construction of maps from symplectic manifolds of any dimension to CP^2 and the associated monodromy invariants. We also show that a dimensional induction process makes it possible to describe any compact symplectic manifold by a series of words in braid groups and a word in a symmetric group.

Symplectic coordinates on the deformation spaces of convex projective structures on 2-orbifolds

Let $\mathcal{O}$ be a closed orientable 2-orbifold of negative Euler characteristic. Huebschmann constructed the Atiyah-Bott-Goldman type symplectic form $ω$ on the deformation space $\mathcal{C}(\mathcal{O})$ of convex projective structures on $\mathcal{O}$. We show that the deformation space $\mathcal{C}(\mathcal{O})$ of convex projective structures on $\mathcal{O}$ admits a global Darboux coordinates system with respect to $ω$. Symplectic Instanton Homology: naturality, and maps from cobordisms

We prove that Manolescu and Woodward's Symplectic Instanton homology, and its twisted versions are natural, and define maps associated to four dimensional cobordisms within this theory. This allows one to define representations of the mapping class group and the fundamental group of a 3-manifold, and to have a geometric interpretation of the maps appearing in the long exact sequence for symplectic instanton homology, together with vanishing criterions.

Algebraic and symplectic Gromov-Witten invariants coincide

For a complex projective manifold Gromov-Witten invariants can be constructed either algebraically or symplectically. Using the versions of Gromov-Witten theory by Behrend and Fantechi on the algebraic side and by the author on the symplectic side, we prove that both points of view give the same results. A similar statement has been obtained independently by Li and Tian using their definitions of algebraic and symplectic Gromov-Witten invariants (alg-geom/9712035).

Geometric quantization of symplectic maps and Witten's asymptotic conjecture

We use the theory of Berezin-Toeplitz operators of Ma and Marinescu to study the spaces of holomorphic sections of a prequantizing line bundle over compact Kähler manifolds under deformations of the complex structure. We show that the parallel transport in the induced vector bundle over the deformation space behaves like a Toeplitz operator, and compute its first coefficient. The structure of projective maps between real projective manifolds

In this paper we study the set of projective maps between compact proper convex real projective manifolds. We show that this set contains only finitely many distinct homotopy classes and each homotopy class has the structure of a real projective manifold. When the target manifold is strictly convex, our results imply that each non-trivial homotopy class contains at most one projective map. These results are motivated by the theory of holomorphic maps between compact complex manifolds.
