This paper is devoted to studying symmetries of k-symplectic Hamiltonian and Lagrangian first-order classical field theories. In particular, we define symmetries and Cartan symmetries and study the problem of associating conservation laws to these symmetries, stating and proving Noether's theorem in different situations for the Hamiltonian and Lagrangian cases. We also characterize equivalent Lagrangians, which lead to an introduction of Lagrangian gauge symmetries, as well as analyzing their relation with Cartan symmetries.
I construct a global version of the local polysymplectic approach to covariant Hamiltonian field theory pioneered by C. Gunther. Beginning with the geometric framework of the theory, I specialize to vertical vector fields to construct the (poly)symplectic structures, derive Hamilton's field equations, and construct a more-or-less natural Poisson bracket. I then examine a few key examples to determine the nature of the necessary vertical projections and find that the theory provides the geometric analog of the canonical transformation approach to covariant Hamiltonian field theory advanced by S…
We characterize all cases when a certain natural generalization of the Infeld--Rowlands equation admits nontrivial local conservation laws of any order, and give explicit form of these conservation laws modulo trivial ones. Furthermore, we prove that the equation under study admits no nontrivial local Hamiltonian and symplectic structures and no nontrivial local Noether and inverse Noether operators; the method of establishing the said nonexistence results can be readily applied to many other PDEs.
(Non)local Hamiltonian and symplectic structures, recursions, and hierarchies: a new approach and applications to the N=1 supersymmetric KdV equation
利用数学方法DG/0304245和[I. S. Krasil'shchik和P.
The exact energy and angular-momentum conservation laws are derived by Noether method for the Hamiltonian and symplectic representations of the gauge-free electromagnetic gyrokinetic Vlasov-Maxwell equations. These gyrokinetic equations, which are solely expressed in terms of electromagnetic fields, describe the low-frequency turbulent fluctuations that perturb a time-independent toroidally-axisymmetric magnetized plasma. The explicit proofs presented here provide a complete picture of the transfer of energy and angular momentum between the gyrocenters and the perturbed electromagnetic fields,…
