A formulation of Dirac's equation using complex-quaternionic coordinates appears to yield an enormous gain in formal elegance, as there is no longer any need to invoke Dirac matrices. This formulation, however, entails several peculiarities, which we investigate and attempt to interpret.

Scattering Study of Fermions Due to Double Dirac Delta Potential in Quaternionic Relativistic Quantum Mechanics

Scattering discussion due to Double Dirac Equation in Quaternionic version of relativistic quantum mechanics has been studied in this paper in details. In such a quantum mechanics Dirac equation in presence vector and scalar potential has been considered. Then a Quaternionic double Dirac delta potential comes to our considered system which causes to scatter the particles. Scattering states of the particles have been derived as well as reflected and transmission coefficients are calculated.

Dirac solutions for quaternionic potentials

In this paper, the quaternionic Dirac equation is solved for quaternionic potentials, iV0+jW0. The study shows two different solutions. The first solution contains particles and anti-particles and leads to the diffusion, tunneling and Klein energy zones. The complex limit is recovered from this solution. The second solution, which does not have a complex counterpart, can be seen as a V0-antiparticle or |W0|-particle.

Nonlinear Dirac operator and quaternionic analysis

Properties of the Cauchy-Riemann-Fueter equation for maps between quaternionic manifolds are studied. Spaces of solutions in case of maps from a K3-surface to the cotangent bundle of a complex projective space are computed. A relationship between harmonic spinors of a generalized nonlinear Dirac operator and solutions of the Cauchy-Riemann-Fueter equation are established.

Quaternioninc Dirac Scattering

The scattering of a Dirac particle has been studied for a quaternionic potential step. In the potential region an additional diffusion solution is obtained. The quaternionic solution which generalizes the complex one presents an amplification of the reflection and transmission rates. A detailed analysis of the quaternionic spinorial velocities sheed new light on the additional solution. Dirac's monopole, quaternions, and the Zassenhaus formula

Starting from the quaternionic quantization scheme proposed by Emch and Jadczyk for describing the motion of a quantum particle in the magnetic monopole field, we derive an algorithm for finding the differential representation of the star product generated by the quaternionic Weyl correspondence on phase-space functions. This procedure is illustrated by the explicit calculation of the star product up to the second order in the Planck constant. Our main tools are an operator analog of the twisted convolution and the Zassenhaus formula for the products of exponentials of noncommuting operators.

On the relation between the Maxwell system and the Dirac equation

A simple relation between the Maxwell system and the Dirac equation based on their quaternionic reformulation is discussed. A Moduli Space of the Quaternionic Hopf Surface Encodes Standard Model Physics

The quaternionic Hopf surface, HL, is associated with a non-compact moduli space, ML, of stable holomorphic SL(2,C) bundles. ML is open in MLc, the corresponding compact moduli space of holomorphic SL(2,C) bundles, and naturally fibers over an open set of the quaternionic projective line HP^1. Lanczos's equation as a way out of the spin 3/2 crisis?

It is shown (1) that Lanczos's quaternionic formulation of Dirac's equation does not lead to a solution of the problems that plague the standard spin 3/2 theory based on the Rarita-Schwinger equation, but (2) that the four-component solutions to the quaternionic generalization of Dirac's equation proposed by Lanczos in 1929 may provide a consistent theory for spin 3/2 particles, although at the cost of giving up the postulate that there should be a one-to-one correspondence between arbitrary-high-spin unitary representations of the inhomogeneous Lorentz group and elementary particles.
