For a class of discrete quasi-periodic Schroedinger operators defined by covariant re- presentations of the rotation algebra, a lower bound on phase-averaged transport in terms of the multifractal dimensions of the density of states is proven. This result is established under a Diophantine condition on the incommensuration parameter. The relevant class of operators is distinguished by invariance with respect to symmetry automorphisms of the rotation algebra. It includes the critical Harper (almost-Mathieu) operator. As a by-product, a new solution of the frame problem associated with Weyl-Heisenberg-Gabor lattices of coherent states is given.
In this paper we consider Wannier functions of quasi-periodic g-gap ($g\geq 1$) potentials and investigate their main properties. In particular, we discuss the problem of averaging underlying the definition of Wannier functions for both periodic and quasi-periodic potentials and express Bloch functions and quasi-momenta in terms of hyperelliptic $σ$ functions. Using this approach we derive a power series expansion of the Wannier function for quasi-periodic potentials valid at $|x|\simeq 0$ and an asymptotic expansion valid at large distance. These functions are important for a number of applie…
We quantify the coupling asymptotics for the Lyapunov-exponent of a one-frequency quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator with analytic potential sampling function. The result refines the well-known lower bound of the Lyapunov-exponent by Sorets and Spencer.
In this paper we give the \emph {quantization rules} to determine the normalized stationary solutions to the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with quasi-periodic conditions on a given interval. \ Similarly to what happen in the Floquet's theory for linear periodic operators, also in this case some kind of band functions there exist.
We study the one-dimensional discrete quasi-periodic Schrodinger equation. We introduce the notion of variations of potential and use it to define "typical" potential. We show that for typical C^3 potential, if the coupling constant is large, then for most frequencies, the Lyapunov exponent is positive for all energies.
In this article, we present a new approach to averaging in non-Hamiltonian systems with periodic forcing. The results here do not depend on the existence of a small parameter. In fact, we show that our averaging method fits into an appropriate nonlinear equivalence problem, and that this problem can be solved formally by using the Lie transform framework to linearize it. According to this approach, we derive formal coordinate transformations associated with both first-order and higher-order averaging, which result in more manageable formulae than the classical ones. Using these transformations…
This paper is focused on quasi-periodic wave solutions of (3+1) generalized BKP equation. Because of some difficulties in calculations of N=3 periodic solutions, hardly ever has there been a study on these solutions by using Rieamann theta function. In this study, we obtain one and two periodic wave solutions as well as three periodic wave solutions for (3+1) generalized BKP equation. Moreover we analyse the asymptotic behavior of the periodic wave solutions tend to the known soliton solutions under a small amplitude limit.
For analytic quasi-periodic Schrödinger cocycles, You and Zhang [9] proved that the Lyapunov exponent is Hölder continuous for weak Liouville frequency. In this paper, we prove that the Hölder continuity also holds if the analytic potential is weakened to Gevrey potential.
In this paper, we consider one dimensional adiabatic quasi-periodic Schrödinger operators in the regime of strong resonant tunneling. We show the emergence of a level repulsion phenomenon which is seen to be very naturally related to the local spectral type of the operator: the more singular the spectrum, the weaker the repulsion.
A normal form theory for non--quasi--periodic systems is combined with the special properties of the partially averaged Newtonian potential pointed out in [15] to prove, in the averaged, planar three--body problem, the existence of a plenty of motions where, periodically, the perihelion of the inner body affords librations about one equilibrium position and its ellipse squeezes to a segment before reversing its direction and again decreasing its eccentricity (perihelion librations).
We present a set of smooth infinite energy global solutions (without spatial symmetry) to the non-integrable, nonlinear Schrödinger equations on $\Bbb R$. These solutions are space-time quasi-periodic with two frequencies each. Previous results [B2,1], and their generalizations [W2-4], are quasi-periodic in time, but periodic in space. This paper generalizes Bourgain's semi-algebraic set method [B3] to analyze nonlinear PDEs, in the non-compact space quasi-periodic setting on $\Bbb R$.
We prove that the $1-d$ quantum harmonic oscillator is stable under spatially localized, time quasi-periodic perturbations on a set of Diophantine frequencies of positive measure. This proves a conjecture raised by Enss-Veselic in their 1983 paper \cite{EV} in the general quasi-periodic setting. The motivation of the present paper also comes from construction of quasi-periodic solutions for the corresponding nonlinear equation.
We discover that the distribution of (frequency and phase) resonances plays a role in determining the spectral type of supercritical quasi-periodic Schrödinger operators. In particular, we disprove the second spectral transition line conjecture of Jitomirskaya in the early 1990s.
We construct quasi-periodic solutions to the lattice nonlinear random Schroedinger equation on a set of potentials of positive measure via using a Lyapunov-Schmidt decomposition and a multiscale Newton scheme.
We provide a rigorous treatment of the inverse scattering transform for the entire Toda hierarchy in the case of a quasi-periodic finite-gap background solution.
Written with respect to an appropriate Poisson structure, a partially integrable Hamiltonian system is viewed as a completely integrable system with parameters. Then, the theorem on quasi-periodic stability in Ref. [1] (the KAM theorem) can be applied to this system.
We consider CMV matrices, both standard and extended, with analytic quasi-periodic Verblunsky coefficients and prove Anderson localization in the regime of positive Lyapunov exponents. This establishes the CMV analog of a result Bourgain and Goldstein proved for discrete one-dimensional Schrödinger operators. We also prove a similar result for quantum walks on the integer lattice with suitable analytic quasi-periodic coins.
We construct space quasi-periodic standing wave solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equations on R^d for arbitrary d. This is a type of quasi-periodic nonlinear Bloch-Floquet waves.
By exploiting a recently developed connection between Heun's differential equation and the generalized associated Lamé equation, we not only recover the well known periodic solutions, but also obtain a large class of new, quasi-periodic solutions of Heun's equation. Each of the quasi-periodic solutions is doubly degenerate.
We prove that if the frequency of the quasi-periodic $\mathrm{SL}(2,\R)$ cocycle is Diophantine, then the following properties are dense in the subcritical regime: for any $\frac{1}{2}<κ<1$, the Lyapunov exponent is exactly $κ$-Hölder continuous; the extended eigenstates of the potential have optimal sub-linear growth; and the dual operator associated a subcritical potential has power-law decay eigenfunctions. The proof is based on fibered Anosov-Katok constructions for quasi-periodic $\mathrm{SL}(2,\R)$ cocycles.
We consider a one-frequency, quasi-periodic, block Jacobi operator, whose blocks are generic matrix-valued analytic functions. We establish Anderson localization for this type of operator under the assumption that the coupling constant is large enough but independent of the frequency. This generalizes a result of J. Bourgain and S. Jitomirskaya on localization for band lattice, quasi-periodic Schroedinger operators.
We consider certain degenerations of trigonal curves and hyperelliptic curves, which we call one step degeneration. We compute the limits of corresponding quasi-periodic solutions using the Sato Grassmannian. The mixing of solitons and quasi-periodic solutions is clearly visible in the obtained solutions.
We consider the quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator with the non-degenerate Gevrey potential for the Diophantine frequency. We prove that if the coupling number of the potential is large, then the spectrum is homogeneous.
We study random perturbations of quasi-periodic uniformly discrete sets in the $d$-dimensional euclidean space. By means of Diffraction Theory, we find conditions under which a quasi-periodic set $X$ can be almost surely recovered from its random perturbations. This extends the recent periodic case result of Yakir from "Recovery the lattice from its random perturbations" IMRN 2020 (arXiv:200201508).
We construct multi-phase travelling waves which are periodic in time and quasi-periodic in the spatial variable for infinite nonlinear chains with nearest neighbor interactions. The main difficulty in the construction is a small divisor problem. We prove a KAM-type theorem for an infinite dimensional system following the approach of W. Craig and C. E Wayne which was further developed by J. Bourgain.
We consider a family of one frequency discrete analytic quasi-periodic Schrödinger operators which appear in [Bjer]. We show that this family provides an example of coexistence of absolutely continuous and point spectrum for some parameters as well as coexistence of absolutely continuous and singular continuous spectrum for some other parameters.
In this paper we study on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)$ the quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator $H=-Δ+ λV(x),$ where $V$ is a real analytic quasi-periodic function and $λ>0$. We first show that $H$ has no eigenvalues in \textit{low energy region}. We also provide in \textit{low energy region} the new phase transition parameter, i.e. the competition between the strength of coupling and the length for frequencies.
In this article we consider the motion of relativistic strings in the Minkowski space $\textbf{R}^{1+n}$. Those surfaces are known as a timelike minimal surface, and described by a system with $n$ nonlinear wave equations of Born-Infeld type. By constructing a suitable Nash-Moser iteration scheme, we prove that the $n$-dimensional relativistic strings can admit a more generalized time quasi-periodic motion in $\textbf{R}^{1+n}$. Moreover, those time quasi-periodic solutions are also timelike solutions.
