Starting from the $C_λ$-extended oscillator algebras, we obtain a new deformed $w_{\infty}$-algebra. More precisely, we show that the $C_λ$-extended $w_{\infty}$-algebra generators may be expressed via the annihilation and creation operators of the $C_λ$-extended oscillator algebras $a$ and $a^{\dagger}$ as an infinite-dimensional extension of the realization of $sp(2)$ algebra.
The propagators (fundamental solutions) of the heat and Schrödinger's equations on the half-line with a combined harmonic oscillator and inverse-square potential calculated in the recent paper [{\em J. Math. Phys.} {\bf 59}, 051507 (2018)] using Laplace's method are demonstrated to be obtainable alternatively within the framework of symmetry group methods discussed in a series of two papers in the same journal.
We construct a quadratic basis of generators of matrix-extended $\mathcal{W}_{1+\infty}$ using a generalization of the Miura transformation. This makes it possible to conjecture a closed-form formula for the operator product expansions defining the algebra. We study truncations of the algebra. An explicit calculation at low levels shows that these are parametrized in a way consistent with the gluing description of the algebra. It is perhaps surprising that in spite of the fact that the algebras are rather complicated and non-linear, the structure of their truncations follows very simple gluing…
In this work we use Lie group theoretic methods and the theory of prolonged group actions to study two fully nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs). First we consider a third order PDE in two spatial dimensions that arises as the analogue of the Euler-Lagrange equations from a second order variational principle in $L^{\infty}$. The equation, known as the $\infty$-Polylaplacian, is a higher order generalisation of the $\infty$-Laplacian, also known as Aronsson's equation. In studying this problem we consider a reduced equation whose relation to the $\infty$-Polylaplacian can be conside…
We examine the structure of gauge transformations in extended geometry, the framework unifying double geometry, exceptional geometry, etc. This is done by giving the variations of the ghosts in a Batalin-Vilkovisky framework, or equivalently, an $L_\infty$ algebra. The $L_\infty$ brackets are given as derived brackets constructed using an underlying Borcherds superalgebra ${\scr B}({\mathfrak g}_{r+1})$, which is a double extension of the structure algebra ${\mathfrak g}_r$. The construction includes a set of "ancillary" ghosts. All brackets involving the infinite sequence of ghosts are given …
We discuss the representation theory of non-linear chiral algebra $\mathcal{W}_{1+\infty}$ of Gaberdiel and Gopakumar and its connection to Yangian of $\hat{\mathfrak{u}(1)}$ whose presentation was given by Tsymbaliuk. The characters of completely degenerate representations of $\mathcal{W}_{1+\infty}$ are for generic values of parameters given by the topological vertex. The Yangian picture provides an infinite number of commuting charges which can be explicitly diagonalized in $\mathcal{W}_{1+\infty}$ highest weight representations. Many properties that are difficult to study in $\mathcal{W}_{…
We show that an $L_\infty$-algebra can be extended to a graded Hopf algebra with a codifferential. Then we twist this extended $L_\infty$-algebra with a Drinfel'd twist, simultaneously twisting its modules. Taking the $L_\infty$-algebra as its own (Hopf) module, we obtain the recently proposed braided $L_\infty$-algebra. The Hopf algebra morphisms are identified with the strict $L_\infty$-morphisms, while the braided $L_\infty$-morphisms define a more general $L_\infty$-action of twisted $L_\infty$-algebras.
It is believed that any classical gauge symmetry gives rise to an L$_\infty$ algebra. Based on the recently realized relation between classical ${\cal W}$ algebras and L$_\infty$ algebras, we analyze how this generalizes to the quantum case. Guided by the existence of quantum ${\cal W}$ algebras, we provide a physically well motivated definition of quantum L$_\infty$ algebras describing the consistency of global symmetries in quantum field theories. In this case we are restricted to only two non-trivial graded vector spaces $X_0$ and $X_{-1}$ containing the symmetry variations and the symmetry…
We consider the problem of the symmetry of the off-diagonal heat-kernel coefficients as well as the coefficients corresponding to the short-distance-divergent part of the Hadamard expansion in general smooth (analytic or not) manifolds. The requirement of such a symmetry played a central rôle in the theory of the point-splitting one-loop renormalization of the stress tensor in either Riemannian or Lorentzian manifolds. Actually, the symmetry of these coefficients has been assumed as a hypothesis in several papers concerning these issues without an explicit proof. The difficulty of a direct pro…
We introduce a new renormalization for the powers of the Dirac delta function. We show that this new renormalization leads to a second quantized version of the Virasoro sector $w_{\infty}$ of the extended conformal algebra with infinite symmetries $W_{\infty}$ of Conformal Field Theory. In particular we construct a white noise (boson) representation of the $w_{\infty}$ generators and commutation relations and of their second quantization.
Using advanced classification techniques, we carry out the extended symmetry analysis of the class of generalized Burgers equations of the form $u_t+uu_x+f(t,x)u_{xx}=0$. This enhances all the previous results on symmetries of these equations and includes the description of admissible transformations, Lie symmetries, Lie and nonclassical reductions, conservation laws, potential admissible transformations and potential symmetries. The study is based on the fact that the class is normalized, and its equivalence group is finite-dimensional.
Completing the results obtained in a previous paper, we prove the symmetry of Hadamard/Seeley-deWitt off-diagonal coefficients in smooth $D$-dimensional Lorentzian manifolds. To this end, it is shown that, in any Lorentzian manifold, a sort of ``local Wick rotation'' of the metric can be performed provided the metric is a locally analytic function of the coordinates and the coordinates are ``physical''. No time-like Killing field is necessary. Such a local Wick rotation analytically continues the Lorentzian metric in a neighborhood of any point, or, more generally, in a neighborhood of a space…
In this paper, one new integrable modified extended Toda hierarchy(METH) is constructed with the help of two logarithmic Lax operators. With this modification, the interpolated spatial flow is added to make all flows complete. To show more integrable properties of the METH, the bi-Hamiltonian structure and tau symmetry of the METH will be given. The additional symmetry flows of this new hierarchy are presented. These flows form an infinite dimensional Lie algebra of Block type.
Little groups are enumerated for the irreps and their components in any basis of O(3) and SO(3) up to rank 9, and for all irreps of C$_{\infty}$, C$_{\infty h}$, C$_{\infty v}$, D$_{\infty}$ and D$_{\infty h}$. The results are obtained by a new chain criterion, which distinguishes massive (rotationally inequivalent) irrep basis functions and allows for multiple branching paths, and are verified by inspection. These results are relevant to the determination of the symmetry of a material from its linear and nonlinear optical properties and to the choices of order parameters for symmetry breaking…
In the present paper we study symmetries of extended $K(m,n,p)$ equation $$ u_t=a(u^p)_{xxxxx}+b(u^n)_{xxx} + c(u^m)_{x} + f(u), $$ where $a,b,c$ are arbitrary real constants and $m,n,p$ are arbitrary integers, and prove that for $a\neq 0$ and $p\neq 1,-4$ this equation has no generalized symmetries of order greater than five and hence is not symmetry integrable.

The concept of weak Lie motion (weak Lie symmetry) is introduced through ${\cal{L}}_ξ{\cal{L}}_ξg_{ab}=0,$ (${\cal{L}}_ξ{\cal{L}}_ξf=0$). Applications are given which exhibit a reduction of the usual symmetry, e.g., in the case of the the rotation group. In this context, a particular generalization of Lie algebras is found ("extended Lie algebras") which turns out to be an involutive distribution or a simple example for a tangent Lie algebroid. Riemannian and Lorentz metrics can be introduced on such an algebroid through an extended Cartan-Killing form. Transformation groups from non-relativis…
We develop a systematic approach to construct novel completely solvable rational potentials. Second-order supersymmetric quantum mechanics dictates the latter to be isospectral to some well-studied quantum systems. $\cal PT$ symmetry may facilitate reconciling our approach to the requirement that the rationally-extended potentials be singularity free. Some examples are shown.
We formulate general definitions of semi-classical gauge transformations for noncommutative gauge theories in general backgrounds of string theory, and give novel explicit constructions using techniques based on symplectic embeddings of almost Poisson structures. In the absence of fluxes the gauge symmetries close a Poisson gauge algebra and their action is governed by a $P_\infty$-algebra which we construct explicitly from the symplectic embedding. In curved backgrounds they close a field dependent gauge algebra governed by an $L_\infty$-algebra which is not a $P_\infty$-algebra. Our techniqu…
We construct an irreducible representation for the extended affine algebra of type $sl_2$ with coordinates in a quantum torus. We explicitly give formulas using vertex operators similar to those found in the theory of the infinite rank affine algebra $A_{\infty}$.
Using the symmetry properties of two-dmensional sigma models, we introduce a notion of the Beltrami-Courant differential, so that there is a natural homotopy Gerstenhaber algebra related to it. We conjecture that the generalized Maurer-Cartan equation for the corresponding $L_{\infty}$ subalgebra gives solutions to the Einstein equations.
