We consider the quantum site percolation model on graphs with an amenable group action. It consists of a random family of Hamiltonians. Basic spectral properties of these operators are derived: non-randomness of the spectrum and its components, existence of an self-averaging integrated density of states and an associated trace-formula.
In this paper we study spectral properties of adjacency and Laplace operators on percolation subgraphs of Cayley graphs of amenable, finitely generated groups. In particular we describe the asymptotic behaviour of the integrated density of states (spectral distribution function) of these random Hamiltonians near the spectral minimum. The first part of the note discusses various aspects of the quantum percolation model, subsequently we formulate a series of new results, and finally we outline the strategy used to prove our main theorem.
In this paper we study the spectrum of long-range percolation graphs. The underlying geometry is given in terms of a finitely generated amenable group. We prove that the integrated density of states (IDS) or spectral distribution function can be approximated uniformly in the energy variable. Using this, we are able to characterise the set of discontinuities of the IDS.
I calculated the exact site and bond percolation probability on lattice-like graphs for given dimension d: site percolation probability is 1/d and bond percolation probability is 0.5(d-1)^{-1/2}
We study the low energy asymptotics of periodic and random Laplace operators on Cayley graphs of amenable, finitely generated groups. For the periodic operator the asymptotics is characterised by the van Hove exponent or zeroth Novikov-Shubin invariant. The random model we consider is given in terms of an adjacency Laplacian on site or edge percolation subgraphs of the Cayley graph. The asymptotic behaviour of the spectral distribution is exponential, characterised by the Lifshitz exponent. We show that for the adjacency Laplacian the two invariants/exponents coincide. The result holds also fo…
In this paper, we compute the next-nearest-neighboring site percolation (Connections exist not only between nearest-neighboring sites, but also between next-nearest-neighboring sites.) probabilities Pc on the two-dimensional Sierpinski carpets, using the translational-dilation method and Monte Carlo technique. We obtain a relation among Pc, fractal dimensionality D and connectivity Q. For the family of carpets with central cutouts,, where, the critical percolation probability for the next-nearest-neighboring site problem on square lattice. As D reaches 2, which is in agreement with the critica…
We consider the Bernoulli bond percolation process (with parameter $p$) on infinite graphs and we give a general criterion for bounded degree graphs to exhibit a non-trivial percolation threshold based either on a single isoperimetric inequality if the graph has a bi-infinite geodesic, or two isoperimetric inequalities if the graph has not a bi-infinite geodesic. This new criterion extends previous criteria and brings together a large class of amenable graphs (such as regular lattices) and non-amenable graphs (such trees). We also study the finite connectivity in graphs satisfying the new gene…
We prove that critical percolation on any quasi-transitive graph of exponential volume growth does not have a unique infinite cluster. This allows us to deduce from earlier results that critical percolation on any graph in this class does not have any infinite clusters. The result is new when the graph in question is either amenable or nonunimodular.
In site percolation, vertices (sites) of a graph are open with probability p, and there is critical p, for which open vertices form an open path the long way across a graph, so a vertex at the origin is a part of an infinite connected open vertex set. Smirnov found that for triangular lattice critical p is 0.5, but there is the traversal, from the origin upwards, so that an infinite connected open vertex set exists for critical p=0.3535.
We analyze site percolation on directed and undirected graphs with site-dependent open-site probabilities. We construct upper bounds on cluster susceptibilities, vertex connectivity functions, and the expected number of simple open cycles through a chosen arc; separate bounds are given on finite and infinite (di)graphs. These produce lower bounds for percolation and uniqueness transitions in infinite (di)graphs, and for the formation of a giant component in finite (di)graphs. The bounds are formulated in terms of appropriately weighted adjacency and non-backtracking (Hashimoto) matrices. It tu…
In this communication with computer simulation we evaluate simple cubic random-site percolation thresholds for neighbourhoods including the nearest neighbours (NN), the next-nearest neighbours (2NN) and the next-next-nearest neighbours (3NN). Our estimations base on finite-size scaling analysis of the percolation probability vs. site occupation probability plots. The Hoshen--Kopelman algorithm has been applied for cluster labelling. The calculated thresholds are 0.1372(1), 0.1420(1), 0.0976(1), 0.1991(1), 0.1036(1), 0.2455(1) for (NN + 2NN), (NN + 3NN), (NN + 2NN + 3NN), 2NN, (2NN + 3NN), 3NN …
In this paper, we obtain optimal uniform lower tail estimates for the probability distribution of the properly scaled length of the longest up/right path of the last passage site percolation model considered by Johansson in [12]. The estimates are used to prove a lower tail moderate deviation result for the model. The estimates also imply the convergence of moments, and also provide a verification of the universal scaling law relating the longitudinal and the transversal fluctuations of the model.
We derive three critical exponents for Bernoulli site percolation on the on the Uniform Infinite Planar Triangulation (UIPT). First we compute explicitly the probability that the root cluster is infinite. As a consequence, we show that the off-critical exponent for site percolation on the UIPT is $β= 1/2$. Then we establish an integral formula for the generating function of the number of vertices in the root cluster. We use this formula to prove that, at criticality, the probability that the root cluster has at least $n$ vertices decays like $n^{-1/7}$. Finally, we also derive an expression fo…
The purpose of this modest note is to point out that the proof of the recent result of Huchcroft concerning continuity of phase transition in Bernoulli percolation is applicable to the setting of the Ising model with free boundary condition. This observation, together with a recent result of Aizenman, Duminil-Copin, and Sidoravicius implies that the Ising model on amenable quasi-transitive graph with exponential growth undergoes a second order phase transition.
In this paper we study unimodular amenable groups. The first part is devoted to results on the existence of uniform families of epsilon-quasi tilings for these groups. In this context, constructions of Ornstein and Weiss are extended by quantitative estimates for the covering properties of the corresponding decompositions. Afterwards, we apply the developed methods to obtain an abstract ergodic theorem for a class of functions mapping subsets of a countable, amenable group into some Banach space. This significantly extends and complements the previous results of Lenz, Müller, Schwarzenberger a…
We study a variant of bootstrap percolation in which growth is restricted to a single active cluster. Initially there is a single active site at the origin, while other sites of Z^2 are independently occupied with small probability p, otherwise empty. Subsequently, an empty site becomes active by contact with 2 or more active neighbors, and an occupied site becomes active if it has an active site within distance 2. We prove that the entire lattice becomes active with probability exp[alpha(p)/p], where alpha(p) is between -pi^2/9 + c sqrt p and pi^2/9 + C sqrt p (-log p)^3. This corrects previo…
In the paper random-site percolation thresholds for simple cubic lattice with sites' neighborhoods containing next-next-next-nearest neighbors (4NN) are evaluated with Monte Carlo simulations. A recently proposed algorithm with low sampling for percolation thresholds estimation [Bastas et al., arXiv:1411.5834] is implemented for the studies of the top-bottom wrapping probability. The obtained percolation thresholds are $p_C(\text{4NN})=0.31160(12)$, $p_C(\text{4NN+NN})=0.15040(12)$, $p_C(\text{4NN+2NN})=0.15950(12)$, $p_C(\text{4NN+3NN})=0.20490(12)$, $p_C(\text{4NN+2NN+NN})=0.11440(12)$, $p_C…
We consider continuous-time random interlacements on Z^d, d greater or equal to 3, and investigate the percolation model where a site x of Z^d is occupied if the total amount of time spent at x by all the trajectories of the interlacement at level u > 0 exceeds some given non-negative parameter, and empty otherwise. Thus, the set of occupied sites forms a subset of the interlacement at level u. We also investigate percolation properties of empty sites. A recent isomorphism theorem arXiv:1111.4818 of Sznitman enables us to "translate" some of the relevant questions into the language of level-se…
We consider the Potts model and the related bond, site, and mixed site-bond percolation problems on triangular-type and kagome-type lattices, and derive closed-form expressions for the critical frontier. For triangular-type lattices the critical frontier is known, usually derived from a duality consideration in conjunction with the assumption of a unique transition. Our analysis, however, is rigorous and based on an established result without the need of a uniqueness assumption, thus firmly establishing all derived results. For kagome-type lattices the exact critical frontier is not known. We …
In this article, we study a type of a one dimensional percolation model whose basic features include a sequential dropping of particles on a substrate followed by their transport via a pushing mechanism (see [S. N. Majumdar and D. S. Dean, Phys. Rev. Ltt. A 11, 89 (2002)]). Consider an empty one dimensional lattice with n empty sites and periodic boundary conditions (as a necklace with n rings). Imagine then the particles which drop sequentially on this lattice, uniformly at random on one of the n sites. Letting a site can settles at most one particle, if a particle drops on an empty site, it …
In the present study, we establish the existence of nontrivial site percolation threshold in the Relative Neighborhood Graph (RNG) for Poisson stationary point process with unit intensity in the plane.
A circle packing is a collection of disks with disjoint interiors in the plane. It naturally defines a graph by tangency. It is shown that there exists $p>0$ such that the following holds for every circle packing: If each disk is retained with probability $p$ independently, then the probability that there is a path of retained disks connecting the origin to infinity is zero. The following conclusions are derived using results on circle packings of planar graphs: (i) Site percolation with parameter $p$ has no infinite connected component on recurrent simple plane triangulations, or on Benjamini…
Bootstrap percolation models have been extensively studied during the two past decades. In this article, we study the following "anisotropic" bootstrap percolation model: the neighborhood of a point (m,n) is the set \[\{(m+2,n),(m+1,n),(m,n+1),(m-1,n),(m-2,n),(m,n-1)\}.\] At time 0, sites are occupied with probability p. At each time step, sites that are occupied remain occupied, while sites that are not occupied become occupied if and only if three of more sites in their neighborhood are occupied. We prove that it exhibits a sharp metastability threshold. This is the first mathematical proof …
We study the following problem for critical site percolation on the triangular lattice. Let A and B be sites on a horizontal line e separated by distance n. Consider, in the half-plane above e, the lowest occupied crossing R from the half-line left of A to the half-line right of B. We show that the probability that R has a site at distance smaller than m from AB is of order (log (n/m))^{-1}, uniformly in 1 <= m < n/2. Much of our analysis can be carried out for other two-dimensional lattices as well.
We study families of dependent site percolation models on the triangular lattice ${\mathbb T}$ and hexagonal lattice ${\mathbb H}$ that arise by applying certain cellular automata to independent percolation configurations. We analyze the scaling limit of such models and show that the distance between macroscopic portions of cluster boundaries of any two percolation models within one of our families goes to zero almost surely in the scaling limit. It follows that each of these cellular automaton generated dependent percolation models has the same scaling limit (in the sense of Aizenman-Burchard…
