The fragmentation function of vector particle into possible bound S-wave states with a heavy antiquark is calculated in the leading order of perturbative QCD for the high energy processes at large transverse momenta with the different behaviour of anomalous chromomagnetic moment. One-loop equations are derived for the evolution of fragmentation function moments, which is caused by the emission of hard gluons by the vector particle. The integrated probabilities of fragmentation are given. The distribution of bound state over the transverse momentum with respect to the axis of fragmentation is calculated in the scaling limit.
We critically discuss fragmentation of quark or antiquark to massive particles (mesons or baryons) in proton-proton collisions. Both heavy and light quark/antiquark fragmentations are discussed using universal $z$-dependent fragmentation functions. Different scenarios how to define the $z$ variable are considered: as a fraction of energy, momentum or light-cone momentum of the parent quark/antiquark. We point out that the fragmentation of a strange quark into nucleons versus antinucleons is not necessarily identical $D_{p/s}(z,Q^2) \neq D_{\bar p/s}(z,Q^2)$, even though the perturbative contributions from gluon splitting and evolution are $p \leftrightarrow \bar p$ symmetric. The observation of such asymmetries in the hadronization of strange and other heavy quarks can provide insight into the nonperturbative mechanisms underlying jet fragmentation in QCD.
In this paper, we consider the diffractive photoproduction of quark-antiquark pairs in peripheral heavy ion collisions. The color field of the nuclei is treated within the Colored Glass Condensate model. The cross-section turns out to be very sensitive to the value of the saturation scale.
We present a general analysis of the spin transfer for $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ production in deep-inelastic scattering of polarized charged leptons on the nucleon, and find that the pattern of different behaviors of $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ production observed by the E665 Collaboration suggests the possibility of quark-antiquark asymmetries either in the quark to $Λ$ fragmentation functions and/or in the quark and antiquark distributions of the target proton. We discuss the fragmentation of a heavy quark to a baryon containing two heavy quarks of mass $m_Q\ggΛ_{\rm QCD}$. In this limit the heavy quarks first combine perturbatively into a compact diquark with a radius small compared to $1/Λ_{\rm QCD}$, which interacts with the light hadronic degrees of freedom exactly as does a heavy antiquark. The subsequent evolution of this $QQ$ diquark to a $QQq$ baryon is identical to the fragmentation of a heavy antiquark to a meson. We apply this analysis to the production of baryons of the form $ccq$, $bbq$, and $bcq$.

We consider unfavoured light quark/antiquark to $D$ meson fragmentation. We discuss nonperturbative effects for small transverse momenta. The asymmetry for $D^+$ and $D^-$ production measured by the LHCb collaboration provides natural constraints on the parton (quark/antiquark) fragmentation functions. We find that already a fraction of $q/{\bar q} \to D$ fragmentation probability is sufficient to account for the measured asymmetry. We make predictions for similar asymmetry for neutral $D$ mesons. We establish a connection between the distribution functions of quarks in spin-one hadrons and the helicity matrix for forward scattering of antiquarks off spin-one hadrons. From positivity of this matrix we obtain inequality relations among the distribution functions. Analogous relations hold also for fragmentation functions. The bounds we obtained can be used to constrain estimates of unknown functions, occurring in particular in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering or e+ e- annihilation with vector mesons in the final state.
We study the measurement of the quark fragmentation functions for spin-1/2 baryon production ($Λ$ and $\bar Λ$, in particular) in unpolarized $e^+e^-$ annihilation. The spin-dependent fragmentation functions $\hat g_1(z)$ and $\hat h_1(z)$ can be probed in the process as a result of quark-antiquark spin correlation and the weak decay of the baryons. The relevant cross section is expressed as a product of the two-jet cross-section, the fragmentation functions, and the differential width of the hyperon decay.
The dominant production mechanism for heavy quark-antiquark bound states in very high energy processes is fragmentation, the splitting of a high energy parton into a quarkonium state and other partons. The triply heavy baryons in the standard model formed in direct $c$ and $b$ quark fragmentation are the $Ω_{ccc}$, $Ω_{ccb}$, $Ω_{cbb}$ and $Ω_{bbb}$ baryons. We calculate their fragmentation functions in leading order of perturbative QCD. Parton distributions are constructed in a statistical physical picture of the nucleon. The chiral properties of QCD lead to strong relations between quarks and antiquarks distributions and the importance of the Pauli exclusion principle is also emphasized. A global next-to-leading order QCD analysis of unpolarized and polarized deep-inelastic scattering data is performed to determine a small number of free parameters. Some predictions are compared to recent experimental results. We also present an extension of the statistical approach to the description of baryon fragmentation functions.

The first probe of the correlation of the T-odd one-particle fragmentation function responsible for the left--right asymmetry of fragmentation of a transversely polarized quark and an antiquark is done by using the 1991-95 DELPHI data for $Z\to 2$ jet decay. Integrated over the fraction of longitudinal and transversal momenta, this correlation is of 2.5 ppm order, which means order of 7% for the analyzing power. This makes us hope to use certain effects in polarized DIS experiments for transversity measurement.

We study the fragmentation function of the gluon to color-octet $^3S_1$ heavy quark-antiquark pair using the soft gluon factorization (SGF) approach, which expresses the fragmentation function in a form of perturbative short-distance hard part convoluted with one-dimensional color-octet $^3S_1$ soft gluon distribution (SGD). We discuss production of $W^+ W^-$ pairs and $t \bar t$ quark-antiquark pairs in proton-proton collisions induced by two-photon fusion including transverse momenta of incoming photons. The unintegrated inelastic fluxes (related to proton dissociation) of photons are calculated based on modern parametrizations of deep inelastic structure functions in a broad range of $x$ and $Q^2$. We calculate the spin density matrix of the vector meson produced in e+e- annihilation at Z^0 pole. We show that the data imply a significant polarization for the antiquark which is created in the fragmentation process of the polarized initial quark and combines with the fragmenting quark to form the vector meson. The direction of polarization is opposite to that of the fragmenting quark and the magnitude is of the order of 0.5. A qualitative explanation of this result based on the LUND string fragmentation model is given.
The flavor and helicity distributions of the $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ hyperons for both valence and sea quarks are calculated in a perturbative QCD (pQCD) based model. We show that QCD4 with transverse confinement can be approximately compactified into QCD2 with a transverse quark mass $m_{{}_T}$ that is obtained by solving a set of coupled transverse eigenvalue equations. In the limits of a strong coupling and a large number of flavors, QCD2 further admits Schwinger QED2-type bosonized solutions. We therefore examine phenomenologically the space-time dynamics of produced particles in string fragmentation by studying the Wigner function of produced bosons in Schwinger QED2, which mimics many features of string fragmentation in quantum chromodynamics. Analytical study of the rapidity distribution of the final state particles in deep inelastic scattering at small x is presented. We separate and analyse three sources of particle production: fragmentation of the quark-antiquark pair, accompanying coherent soft gluon radiation due to octet color exchange in the t-channel, and fragmentation of gluons that form parton distribution functions. Connection to Catani-Ciafaloni-Fiorani-Marchesini (CCFM) equations and the role of gluon reggezation are also discussed.
We study the hadronic production of four-quark states with double heavy quarks and double light antiquarks at LHC. Field distributions generated by static quark-antiquark and QQQ sources are calculated analytically in the framework of Gaussian (bilocal) approximation of Field Correlator Method (FCM). We calculate the lowest order charm and beauty parton distribution functions in and fragmentation functions into D and B mesons using the operator definitions of factorized perturbative QCD. We present a new proposal to study the helicity-dependent dihadron fragmentation functions (DiFF), which describe the correlations of the longitudinal polarization of a fragmenting quark with the transverse momenta of the produced hadron pair.
