In this work, we present a cosmological model in which the cosmological constant term is replaced by the Kretschmann scalar at the level of the action. In this way, it becomes possible to implement a model of dynamical dark energy. After constraining the free parameters using observational data from supernovae and cosmic chronometers, we show that the model provides a good fit to the observational data. In particular, we show that, at least at low redshifts, the behavior of the equation-of-state parameter $w(z)$ closely reproduces that obtained in phenomenological models that have been recently studied based on the latest observational data from the DESI collaboration. Likewise, the present model also indicates the occurrence of a phantom-crossing regime.
The growth rate of large scale structure can probe whether dark matter clusters at gravitational strength or deviates from this, e.g. due to self interactions. Measurement of the growth rate through redshift space distortions in galaxy redshift surveys constrains the clustering strength, and its redshift dependence. We compare such effects on growth to those from high redshift deviations (e.g. early dark energy) or modified gravity, and give a simple, highly accurate analytic prescription. Current observations can constrain the dark matter clustering strength to F_{cl}=0.99\pm0.02 of standard,…
In this paper, we constrain dark energy models using a compendium of observations at low redshifts. We consider the dark energy as a barotropic fluid, with the equation of state a constant as well the case where dark energy equation of state is a function of time. The observations considered here are Supernova Type Ia data, Baryonic Acoustic Oscillation data and Hubble parameter measurements. We compare constraints obtained from these data and also do a combined analysis. The combined observational constraints put strong limits on variation of dark energy energy density with redshift. For vary…
Galaxy redshift surveys are becoming increasingly important as a dark energy probe. We improve the forecasting of dark energy constraints from galaxy redshift surveys by using the "dewiggled" galaxy power spectrum, P_{dw}(k), in the Fisher matrix calculations. Since P_{dw}(k) is a good fit to real galaxy clustering data over most of the scale range of interest, our approach is more realistic compared to previous work in forecasting dark energy constraints from galaxy redshift surveys. We find that our new approach gives results in excellent agreement when compared to the results from the actua…
In this paper we use H II starburst galaxy apparent magnitude versus redshift data from Siegel et al. (2005) to constrain dark energy cosmological model parameters. These constraints are generally consistent with those derived using other data sets, but are not as restrictive as the tightest currently available constraints.
Dark energy affects the Hubble expansion rate (namely, the expansion history) $H(z)$ by an integral over $w(z)$. However, the usual observables are the luminosity distances or the angular diameter distances, which measure the distance-redshift relation. Actually, dark energy affects the distances (and the growth factor) by a further integration over functions of $H(z)$. Thus, the direct measurements of the Hubble parameter $H(z)$ at different redshifts are of great importance for constraining the properties of dark energy. In this paper, we show how the typical dark energy models, for example,…
The small scale observations indicate that the dark matter may be self-interacting. In this paper, we calculate the shear ($η$) and bulk viscosity ($ζ$) of Self Interacting Dark Matter (SIDM) fluid, in kinetic theory formalism. Further, using the KSS bound on $η/\mathfrak{s}$, we derive a new upper limit on the ratio of dark matter self interaction cross section to its mass, $ σ/m $. Then, using the $ σ/m $ constraint, we show that KSS bound allows only sub-GeV mass of SIDM particle. Further, with the assumption of a power-law form of $η$ and $ζ$, we study its evolution in the light of low red…
The first stars in the history of the Universe are likely to form in the dense central regions of 10^5-10^6 Msolar cold dark matter halos at z=10-50. The annihilation of dark matter particles in these environments may lead to the formation of so-called dark stars, which are predicted to be cooler, larger, more massive and potentially more long-lived than conventional population III stars. Here, we investigate the prospects of detecting high-redshift dark stars with the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). We find that dark stars at z>6 are intrinsically too faint to be detected by JWST.…
The nature of the dark energy is still a mystery and several models have been proposed to explain it. Here we consider a phenomenological model for dark energy decay into photons and particles as proposed by Lima (J. Lima, Phys. Rev. D 54, 2571 (1996)). He studied the thermodynamic aspects of decaying dark energy models in particular in the case of a continuous photon creation and/or disruption. Following his approach, we derive a temperature redshift relation for the CMB which depends on the effective equation of state $w_{eff}$ and on the "adiabatic index" $γ$. Comparing our relation with th…
Future redshift-drift measurements (also known as Sandage-Loeb signal) will be crucial to probe the so called "redshift desert", thus providing a new tool for cosmological studies. In this paper we quantify the ability of a future measurement of the Sandage-Loeb signal by a CODEX-like spectrograph to constrain a phenomenological parametrization of dynamical dark energy, specifically by obtaining constraints on $w_0$ and $w_a$. We also demonstrate that if used alongside CMB data, the Sandage-Loeb measurements will be able to break degeneracies between expansion parameters, thus greatly improvin…
We propose a new approach for measuring the mass profile and shape of groups and clusters of galaxies, which uses lensing magnification of distant background galaxies. The main advantage of lensing magnification is that, unlike lensing shear, it relies on accurate photometric redshifts only and not galaxy shapes, thus enabling the study of the dark matter distribution with unresolved source galaxies. We present a feasibility study, using a real population of z > 2.5 Lyman Break Galaxies as source galaxies, and where, similar to galaxy-galaxy lensing, foreground lenses are stacked in order to i…
We use lookback time versus redshift data from galaxy clusters (Capozziello et al., 2004) and passively evolving galaxies (Simon et al., 2005), and apply a bayesian prior on the total age of the Universe based on WMAP measurements, to constrain dark energy cosmological model parameters. Current lookback time data provide interesting and moderately restrictive constraints on cosmological parameters. When used jointly with current baryon acoustic peak and Type Ia supernovae apparent magnitude versus redshift data, lookback time data tighten the constraints on parameters and favor slightly smalle…
We discuss the thermodynamic and dynamical properties of a variable dark energy model with density scaling as $ρ_x \propto (1+z)^{m}$, z being the redshift. These models lead to the creation/disruption of matter and radiation, which affect the cosmic evolution of both matter and radiation components in the Universe. In particular, we have studied the temperature-redshift relation of radiation, which has been constrained using a recent collection of cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature measurements up to $z \sim 3$. We find that, within the uncertainties, the model is indistinguishable…
We compare the measurement of the gravitational mass of 38 high-redshift galaxy clusters observed by Chandra using Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) and standard Newtonian gravity. Our analysis confirms earlier findings that MOND cannot explain the difference between the baryonic mass and the total mass inferred from the assumption of hydrostatic equilibrium. We also find that the baryon fraction at $r_{2500}$ using MOND is consistent with the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) value of $Ω_{B}/Ω_{M}$
We investigate whether future measurements of high redshift standard candles (HzSCs) will be a powerful probe of dark energy, when compared to other types of planned dark energy measurements. Active galactic nuclei and gamma ray bursts have both been proposed as potential HzSC candidates. Due to their high luminosity, they can be used to probe unexplored regions in the expansion history of the universe. Information from these regions can help constrain the properties of dark energy, and in particular, whether it varies over time. We consider both linear and piecewise parameterizations of the d…
We investigate observational constraints on dark energy models from lookback time (LT) estimates of 32 old passive galaxies distributed over the redshift interval $0.11 \leq z \leq 1.84$. To build up our LT sample we combine the age measurements for these 32 objects with estimates of the total age of the Universe, as obtained from current CMB data. We show that LT data may provide bounds on the cosmological parameters with accuracy competitive with type Ia Supernova methods. In order to break possible degeneracies between models parameters, we also discuss the bounds when our lookback time ver…
The annihilation of dark matter particles in the centers of minihalos may lead to the formation of so-called dark stars, which are cooler, larger, more massive and potentially more long-lived than conventional population III stars. Here, we investigate the prospects of detecting high-redshift dark stars with both existing and upcoming telescopes. We find that individual dark stars with masses below ~1e3 Msolar are intrinsically too faint even for the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). However, by exploiting foreground galaxy clusters as gravitational telescopes, certain varieties of s…
In this paper, we fully investigate cosmological scenarios in which dark matter is non-minimally coupled to an extra scalar degree of freedom. The interaction is realized by means of conformal and disformal terms in the transformed gravitational metric. Considering linear perturbation theory, we show that the growth rate of dark matter differs from the uncoupled case and that the well-known Kaiser formula undergoes modification. As a result, redshift space distortion measurements cease to be a direct probe of the linear growth rate of total matter, since the distortion factor has an extra, cou…
We use a suite of cosmological simulations to study the mass-concentration-redshift relation, $c({\rm M},z)$, of dark matter halos. Our simulations include standard $Λ$-cold dark matter (CDM) models, and additional runs with truncated power spectra, consistent with a thermal warm dark matter (WDM) scenario. We find that the mass profiles of CDM and WDM halos are self-similar and well approximated by the Einasto profile. The $c({\rm M},z)$ relation of CDM halos is monotonic: concentrations decrease with increasing virial mass at fixed redshift, and decrease with increasing redshift at fixed mas…
Following the success of type Ia supernovae in constraining cosmologies at lower redshift $(z\lesssim2)$, effort has been spent determining if a similarly useful standardisable candle can be found at higher redshift. {In this work we determine the largest possible magnitude discrepancy between a constant dark energy $Λ$CDM cosmology and a cosmology in which the equation of state $w(z)$ of dark energy is a function of redshift for high redshift standard candles $(z\gtrsim2)$}. We discuss a number of popular parametrisations of $w(z)$ with two free parameters, $w_z$CDM cosmologies, including the…
The study of the cross-correlation angular power spectrum between gravitational tracers and electromagnetic signals can be a powerful tool to constrain Dark Matter (DM) microscopic properties. In this work we correlate \Fermi\ diffuse \g-ray maps with catalogues of galaxy clusters. To emphasize the sensitivity to a DM signal, we select clusters at low-redshift $0<z<0.2$ and with large-halo mass $M_{500}>10^{13}M_\odot$. The analysis is performed with four catalogues in different wavebands, including infrared, optical and X-rays. No evidence for a DM signal is identified. On the other hand, we …
We compare the evolution of voids formed under the standard cosmological model and two alternative cosmological models. The two models are a quintessence model ($ϕ$CDM) and a Coupled Dark Matter-Dark Energy (CDE) model, both of which have evolving and interacting dark sectors. From $N$-body adiabatic hydrodynamical simulations of these models, we measure the statistics and quantify the properties of voids over the redshift range $z=1.5-12$: these include their population size, volumes, shapes and average densities. We find that the latter property has potential as a probe of cosmology, particu…
We apply the Lagrangian perturbation theory with time-dependent growth functions at second and third order of perturbation with the aim to model the effect of dynamical dark energy on redshift-space distortions. Our fiducial galaxy redshift surveys are modeled after the upcoming SKA and DESI redshift surveys. We include PLANCK CMB priors and the 20\% uncertainty on the linear bias parameter, incorporating the unknown instrumentation noise. After the marginalizing, our results show that the constraints on the density parameter could potentially get better than $\sim$1\%, while the constraints o…
We present results of a study of the virial state of high redshift dark matter haloes in an N-body simulation. We find that the majority of collapsed, bound haloes are not virialized at any redshift slice in our study ($z=15-6$) and have excess kinetic energy. At these redshifts, merging is still rampant and the haloes cannot strictly be treated as isolated systems. To assess if this excess kinetic energy arises from the environment, we include the surface pressure term in the virial equation explicitly and relax the assumption that the density at the halo boundary is zero. Upon inclusion of t…
We investigate the effects of a disformal coupling between dark energy and dark matter in the predictions of the spherical collapse and its signatures in galaxy cluster number counts. We find that the disformal coupling has no significant effects on spherical collapse at high redshifts, and in particular during matter domination epoch. However, at lower redshifts, the extrapolated linear density contrast at collapse close to redshift $z \lesssim 1$ and overdensity at virialization can be strongly suppressed by a disformal coupling between dark energy and dark matter. We also find that disforma…
Early dark energy models, for which the contribution to the dark energy density at high redshifts is not negligible, influence the growth of cosmic structures and could leave observable signatures that are different from the standard cosmological constant cold dark matter ($Λ$CDM) model. In this paper, we present updated constraints on early dark energy using geometrical and dynamical probes. From WMAP five-year data, baryon acoustic oscillations and type Ia supernovae luminosity distances, we obtain an upper limit of the dark energy density at the last scattering surface (lss), $Ω_{\rm EDE}(z…
The distribution of angles subtended between pairs of galaxies and the line of sight, which is uniform in real space, is distorted by their peculiar motions, and has been proposed as a probe of cosmic expansion. We test this idea using N-body simulations of structure formation in a cold dark matter universe with a cosmological constant and in two variant cosmologies with different dark energy models. We find that the distortion of the distribution of angles is sensitive to the nature of dark energy. However, for the first time, our simulations also reveal dependences of the normalization of the…
The Dark Ages, probed by the redshifted 21-cm signal, is the ideal epoch for a new rigorous test of the standard LCDM cosmological model. Divergences from that model would indicate new physics, such as dark matter decay (heating) or baryonic cooling beyond that expected from adiabatic expansion of the Universe. In the early Universe, most of the baryonic matter was in the form of neutral hydrogen (HI), detectable via its ground state's spin-flip transition. A measurement of the redshifted 21-cm spectrum maps the history of the HI gas through the Dark Ages and Cosmic Dawn and up to the Epoch of…
Structures in Warm Dark Matter (WDM) models are exponentially suppressed below a certain scale, characterized by the dark matter particle mass, $m_{\rm x}$. Since structures form hierarchically, the presence of collapsed objects at high-redshifts can set strong lower limits on $m_{\rm x}$. We place robust constraints on $m_{\rm x}$ using recent results from the {\it Swift} database of high-redshift gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). We parameterize the redshift evolution of the ratio between the cosmic GRB rate and star formation rate (SFR) as $\propto (1+z)^α$, thereby allowing astrophysical uncertaint…
We show that it is both observationally allowable and theoretically possible to have large fluctuations in the dark energy equation of state as long as they occur at ultra-low redshifts z<0.02. These fluctuations would masquerade as a local transition in the Hubble rate of a few percent or less and escape even future, high precision, high redshift measurements of the expansion history and structure. Scalar field models that exhibit this behavior have a sharp feature in the potential that the field traverses within a fraction of an e-fold of the present. The equation of state parameter can beco…
We study the redshift drift, i.e., the time derivative of the cosmological redshift in the Lemaître-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) solution in which the observer is assumed to be located at the symmetry center. This solution has often been studied as an anti-Copernican universe model to explain the acceleration of cosmic volume expansion without introducing the concept of dark energy. One of decisive differences between LTB universe models and Copernican universe models with dark energy is believed to be the redshift drift. The redshift drift is negative in all known LTB universe models, whereas it is pos…
The measurement of baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) from a galaxy redshift survey provides one of the most promising methods for probing dark energy. In this paper, we clarify the assumptions that go into the forecasts of dark energy constraints from BAO. We show that assuming a constant nP_{0.2}/G^2(z) (where P_{0.2} is the real space galaxy power spectrum at k=0.2h/Mpc and redshift z) gives a good approximation of the observed galaxy number density expected from a realistic flux-limited galaxy redshift survey. We find that assuming nP_{0.2}/G^2(z)=10 gives very similar dark energy constrai…
The interacting dark energy model could propose a effective way to avoid the coincidence problem. In this paper, dark energy is taken as a fluid with a constant equation of state parameter $w_x$. In a general gauge, we could obtain two sets of different perturbation equations when the momentum transfer potential is vanished in the rest frame of dark matter or dark energy. There are many kinds of interacting forms from the phenomenological considerations, here, we choose $Q=3Hξ_xρ_x$ which owns the stable perturbations in most cases. Then, according to the Markov Chain Monte Carlo method, we co…

The nature of dark energy remains a profound mystery 20 years after the discovery of cosmic acceleration. A very high number density galaxy redshift survey over a wide area (HD GRS Wide) spanning the redshift range of 0.5<z<4 using the same tracer, carried out using massively parallel wide field multi-object slit spectroscopy from space, will provide definitive dark energy measurements with minimal observational systematics by design. The HD GRS Wide will illuminate the nature of dark energy, and lead to revolutionary advances in particle physics and cosmology. It will also trace the cosmic we…
We re-analyze the detectability of large scale dark flow (or local bulk flow) with respect to the CMB background based upon the redshift-distance relation for Type Ia supernovae (SN Ia). We made two independent analyses: one based upon identifying the three Cartesian velocity components; and the other based upon the cosine dependence of the deviation from Hubble flow on the sky. We apply these analyses to the Union2.1 SN Ia data and to the SDSS-II supernova survey. For both methods, results for low redshift, $z < 0.05$, are consistent with previous searches. We find a local bulk flow of $v_{\r…
The standard relation between the cosmological redshift and cosmic scale factor underlies cosmological inference from virtually all kinds of cosmological observations, leading to the emergence of the LambdaCDM cosmological model. This relation is not a fundamental theory and thus observational determination of this function (redshift remapping) should be regarded as an insightful alternative to holding its standard form in analyses of cosmological data. Here we present non-parametric reconstructions of redshift remapping in dark-matter-dominated models and constraints on cosmological parameter…
The Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) experiment has detected reionization at the $5.5 σ$ level and has reported a mean optical depth of $0.088 \pm 0.015$. A powerful probe of reionization is the large-angle $EE$ polarization power spectrum, which is now (since the first five years of data from WMAP) cosmic variance limited for $2\le l \le6$. Here we consider partial reionization caused by WIMP dark matter annihilation, and calculate the expected polarization power spectrum. We compare the dark matter models with a standard 2-step reionization theory, and examine whether the models m…
Many experiments in the near future will test dark energy through its effects on the linear growth of matter perturbations. In this paper we discuss the constraints that future large-scale redshift surveys can put on three different parameterizations of the linear growth factor and how these constraints will help ruling out different classes of dark energy and modified gravity models. We show that a scale-independent bias can be estimated to a few percent per redshift slice by combining redshift distortions with power spectrum amplitude, without the need of an external estimation. We find that…
Data from the AEGIS, COSMOS and ECDFS surveys are combined to infer the bias and dark matter halo mass of moderate luminosity [LX(2-10 keV) = 42.9 erg s-1] X-ray AGN at z~1 via their cross-correlation function with galaxies. In contrast to standard cross-correlation function estimators, we present a method that requires spectroscopy only for the AGN and uses photometric redshift probability distribution functions for galaxies to determine the projected real-space AGN/galaxy cross-correlation function. The estimated dark matter halo mass of X-ray AGN in the combined AEGIS, COSMOS and ECDFS fiel…
There are many kinds of models which describe the dynamics of dark energy (DE). Among all we adopt an equation of state (EoS) which varies as a function of time. We adopt Markov Chain Monte Carlo method to constrain the five parameters of our models. As a consequence, we can show the characteristic behavior of DE during the evolution of the universe. We constrain the EoS of DE with use of the avairable data of gamma-ray bursts and type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) concerning the redshift-luminosity distance relations. As a result, we find that DE is quintessence-like in the early time and phantom-li…
Two recently proposed techniques, involving the measurement of the cosmic parallax and redshift drift, provide novel ways of directing probing (over a time-span of several years) the background metric of the universe and therefore shed light on the dark energy conundrum. The former makes use of upcoming high-precision astrometry measurements to either observe or put tight constraints on cosmological anisotropy for off-center observers, while the latter employs high-precision spectroscopy to give an independent test of the present acceleration of the universe. In this paper, we show that both m…
Several independent cosmological data, collected within the last twenty years, revealed the accelerated expansion rate of the Universe, usually assumed to be driven by the so called dark energy, which, according to recent estimates, provides now about 70 % of the total amount of matter-energy in the Universe. The nature of dark energy is yet unknown. Several models of dark energy have been proposed: a non zero cosmological constant, a potential energy of some self interacting scalar field, effects related to the non homogeneous distribution of matter, or effects due to alternative theories of …
Accurate weak-lensing analysis requires not only accurate measurement of galaxy shapes but also precise and unbiased measurement of galaxy redshifts. The photometric redshift technique appears as the only possibility to determine the redshift of the background galaxies used in the weak-lensing analysis. Using the photometric redshift quality, simple shape measurement requirements, and a proper sky model, we explore what could be an optimal weak-lensing dark energy mission based on FoM calculation. We found that photometric redshifts reach their best accuracy for the bulk of the faint galaxy po…
CUSP is a powerful formalism that recovers, from first principles and with no free parameter, all the macroscopic properties of dark matter haloes found in cosmological N-body simulations and unveils the origin of their characteristic features. Since it is not restricted by the limitations of simulations, it covers the whole mass and redshift ranges. In the present Paper we use CUSP to calculate the mass-scale relations holding for halo density profiles fitted to the usual NFW and Einasto functions in the most relevant cosmologies and for the most usual mass definitions. We clarify the origin …
Aims. We investigate the degree of improvement in dark energy constraints that can be achieved by extending Type Ia Supernova (SN Ia) samples to redshifts z > 1.5 with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), particularly in the ongoing CANDELS and CLASH multi-cycle treasury programs. Methods. Using the popular CPL parametrization of the dark energy, w = w0 +wa(1-a), we generate mock SN Ia samples that can be projected out to higher redshifts. The synthetic datasets thus generated are fitted to the CPL model, and we evaluate the improvement that a high-z sample can add in terms of ameliorating the st…
In this paper, we study a model which is composed by the cosmological constant and dark matter with nonzero equation of state parameter, which could be called as $Λ$wDM. In the synchronous gauge, we obtain the perturbation equations of dark matter, and deduce the evolution equations of growth factor about the dark matter and baryons. Based on the Markov Chain Monte Carlo method, we constrain this model by the recently available cosmic observations which include cosmic microwave background radiation, baryon acoustic oscillation, type Ia supernovae, and $fσ_8(z)$ data points from redshift-space …
We investigate the spatial properties of the large scale structure (LSS) of the Universe in the framework of coupled dark energy (cDE) cosmologies. Using the public halo catalogues from the CoDECS simulations -- the largest set of N-body experiments to date for such cosmological scenarios -- we estimate the clustering and bias functions of cold dark matter (CDM) haloes, both in real- and redshift-space. Moreover, we investigate the effects of the dark energy (DE) coupling on the geometric and dynamic redshift-space distortions, quantifying the difference with respect to the concordance LambdaC…
Considering the cosmological redshift $z_c$ , the mass of GW source extracted from GW signal is $1+z_c$ times larger than its intrinsic value, and distance between detector and GW source should be regarded as luminosity distance. However, besides cosmological redshift, there are other kinds of redshifts should be considered, which is actually ignored, in the analysis of GW data, such as Doppler redshift and gravitational redshift, so the parameters extracted from GW may deviate from their intrinsic values. Another factor that may affect GW is the viscous medium in propagation path of GW, which…
We present a comparison of void properties between the standard model of cosmology, $Λ$ Cold Dark Matter ($Λ$CDM), and two alternative cosmological models with evolving and interacting dark sectors: a quintessence model ($ϕ$CDM) and a Coupled Dark Matter-Dark Energy (CDE) model. Using $N$-body simulations of these models, we derive several measures of void statistics and properties, including distributions of void volume, ellipticity, prolateness, and average density. We find that the volume distribution derived from the CDE simulation deviates from the volume distribution derived from the $Λ$…
The evolution of dark energy density is a crucial quantity in understanding the nature of dark energy. Often, the quantity is described by the so-called equation of state, that is the ratio of dark energy pressure to its density. In this scenario, the dark energy density is always positive throughout cosmic history and a negative value is not allowed. Assuming a homogeneous and isotropic universe, we reconstruct the dark energy density directly from observational data and investigate its evolution through cosmic history. We consider the latest SNIa, BAO and cosmic chronometer data and reconstr…
Beyond the standard cosmological model the late-time accelerated expansion of the universe can be reproduced by the introduction of an additional dynamical scalar field. In this case, the field is expected to be naturally coupled to the rest of the theory's fields, unless a (still unknown) symmetry suppresses this coupling. Therefore, this would possibly lead to some observational consequences, such as space-time variations of nature's fundamental constants. In this paper we investigate the coupling between a dynamical Dark Energy model and the electromagnetic field, and the corresponding evol…
Numerical simulations show that redshift space distortions (RSD) introduce strong scale dependence in the power spectra of halos, with ten percent deviations relative to linear theory predictions even on relatively large scales (k<0.1h/Mpc) and even in the absence of satellites (which induce Fingers-of-God, FoG, effects). If unmodeled these effects prevent one from extracting cosmological information from RSD surveys. In this paper we use perturbation theory (PT) and halo biasing model and apply it to the distribution function approach to RSD, in which RSD is decomposed into several correlator…
Persisting tensions between the cosmological constraints derived from low-redshift probes and the ones obtained from temperature and polarisation anisotropies of the Cosmic Microwave Background -- although not yet providing compelling evidence against the $Λ$CDM model -- seem to consistently indicate a slower growth of density perturbations as compared to the predictions of the standard cosmological scenario. Such behavior is not easily accommodated by the simplest extensions of General Relativity, such as f(R) models, which generically predict an enhanced growth rate. In the present work we p…
Early observations with JWST have led to the discovery of an unexpected large density (stellar mass density $ρ_*\approx 10^{6}\,M_{\odot}\,Mpc^{-3}$) of massive galaxies (stellar masses $M_*\geq 10^{10.5}M_{\odot}$) at extremely high redshifts $z\approx 10$. We show that - under the most conservative assumptions, and independently of the baryon physics involved in galaxy formation - such abundance is not only in tension with the standard $Λ$CDM cosmology, but provides extremely tight constraints on the expansion history of the Universe and on the growth factors corresponding to a wide class of…
The explanation of the accelerated expansion of the Universe poses one of the most fundamental questions in physics and cosmology today. If the acceleration is driven by some form of dark energy, one can try to constrain the parameters using a cosmographic approach. Our high-redshift analysis allows us to put constraints on the cosmographic expansion up to the fifth order. It is based on the Union2 Type Ia Supernovae (SNIa) data set, the Hubble diagram constructed from some Gamma Ray Bursts luminosity distance indicators, and gaussian priors on the distance from the Baryon Acoustic Oscillation…
