An influence of environment on quantum correlations (entanglement and quantum discord) is studied in a two-spin-1/2 system with dipole-dipole interactions on the basis of Lindblad equation. We consider the simplest case when the environment causes only dephasing of system spins. The dependencies of entanglement and the quantum discord on the relaxation rate are obtained. We compare the influence of the environment on entanglement and quantum discord.

The dynamics of coherence in a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX model with magnetic field in the presence of the intrinsic decoherence is investigated. We discuss the influence of dipole parameter, spin distance, magnetic field and initial state parameter on coherence of the long time limit situation. Then, we discuss how decoherence changes with time with the initial state parameter and the decoherence parameter.
We make a general derivation for the magnetic dipole-dipole interaction based on the mediation of the quantized electro-magnetic field. Due to the interaction with the dipoles, the dynamics of the field is added by a dipole field, which finally gives rise to the dipole-dipole interaction. Different from previous studies, the rotating-wave-approximation is no longer needed throughout this derivation, and our result naturally gives the interaction for non-resonant dipoles. Moreover, our derivation also gives the counter-rotating interaction terms, and even the mixed interaction terms between the…
The impact of the short-range interaction on the resonances occurrence in the anisotropic dipolar scattering in a plane was numerically investigated for the arbitrarily oriented dipoles and for a wide range of collision energies. We revealed the strong dependence of the cross section of the 2D dipolar scattering on the radius of short-range interaction, which is modeled by a hard wall potential and by the more realistic Lennard-Jones potential, and on the mutual orientations of the dipoles. We defined the critical (magic) tilt angle of one of the dipoles, depending on the direction of the seco…

We theoretically investigate how the initial state influence the entanglement dynamics between two and three two-level atoms with dipole-dipole interaction (DDI) coupled to a whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) microtoroidal cavity. Two different cases, where the two atoms are coupled symmetrically or asymmetrically to the two WGMs through evanescent fields, are discussed in detail. Considering two types of initial states between the atoms and the symmetric regime, we show that for the initial entangled state, the sudden death and birth, as well as the freezing of the entanglement, can be obtained b…
We make a multipole expansion of the atomic/molecular electrostatic charge distribution as seen by the valence electron up to the quadrupole term. The Tridiagonal Representation Approach (TRA) is used to obtain an exact bound state solution associated with an effective quadrupole moment and assuming that the electron-molecule interaction is screened by suborbital electrons. We show that the number of states available for binding the electron is finite forcing an energy jump in its transition to the continuum that could be detected experimentally in some favorable settings. We expect that our s…
Correlations between a system and its environment lead to errors in an open quantum system. Detecting those correlations would be valuable for avoiding and/or correcting those errors. Here we show that we can detect correlations by only measuring the system itself if we know the cause of the interaction between the two, for example in the case of a dipole-dipole interaction. We investigate the unitary $U$ which is associated with the exchange Hamiltonian and examine the ability to detect initial correlations between a system and its environment for various types of initial states. The states w…

We present a canonical derivation of an influence superoperator which generates the reduced dynamics of a Fermionic quantum system linearly coupled to a Fermionic environment initially at thermal equilibrium. We use this formalism to derive a generalized-Lindblad master equation (in the Markovian limit) and a generalized version of the hierarchical equations of motion valid in arbitrary parity-symmetry conditions, important for the correct evaluation of system correlation functions and spectra.
We develop a methodology for performing approximate optimal control simulations for quantum systems with multiple interacting degrees of freedom. The quantum dynamics are modeled using the first-order Magnus approximation in the interaction picture, where the interactions between different degrees of freedom are treated as the perturbation. We present a numerical procedure for implementing this approximation, which leverages the separability of the zeroth-order time evolution operator and the pairwise nature of common interactions for a reduced computational cost. This formulation of the first…
We extend Pearl's definition of causal influence to the quantum domain, where two quantum systems $A$, $B$ with finite-dimensional Hilbert space are embedded in a common environment $C$ and propagated with a joint unitary $U$. For finite dimensional Hilbert space of $C$, we find the necessary and sufficient condition on $U$ for a causal influence of $A$ on $B$ and vice versa. We introduce an easily computable measure of the causal influence and use it to study the causal influence of different quantum gates, its mutuality, and quantum superpositions of different causal orders. For two two-leve…
We give a derivation for the indirect interaction between two magnetic dipoles induced by the quantized electromagnetic field. It turns out that the interaction between permanent dipoles directly returns to the classical form; the interaction between transition dipoles does not directly return to the classical result, yet returns in the short-distance limit. In a finite volume, the field modes are highly discrete, and both the permanent and transition dipole-dipole interactions are changed. For transition dipoles, the changing mechanism is similar with the Purcell effect, since only a few numb…
The photonic environment can significantly influence emission properties and interactions among atomic systems. In such scenarios, frequently the electric dipole approximation is assumed that is justified as long as the spatial extent of the atomic system is negligible compared to the spatial variations of the field. While this holds true for many canonical systems, it ceases to be applicable for more contemporary nanophotonic structures. To go beyond the electric dipole approximation, we propose and develop in this article an analytical framework to describe the impact of the photonic environ…
The electron spin in a semiconductor quantum dot can be coherently controlled by an external electric field, an effect called electric-dipole spin resonance (EDSR). Several mechanisms can give rise to the EDSR effect, among which there is a hyperfine mechanism, where the spin-electric coupling is mediated by the electron-nucleus hyperfine interaction. Here, we investigate the influence of frequency modulation (FM) on the spin-flip efficiency. Our results reveal that FM plays an important role in the hyperfine mechanism. Without FM, the electric field almost cannot flip the electron spin; the s…
Scalable quantum systems require deterministic entangled photon pair sources. Here, we demonstrate a scheme that uses a dipole-coupled defect pair to deterministically emit polarization-entangled photon pairs. Based on this scheme, we predict spectroscopic signatures and quantify the entanglement with physically realizable system parameters. We describe how the Bell state fidelity and efficiency can be optimized by precisely tuning transition frequencies. A defect-based entangled photon pair source would offer numerous advantages including flexible on-chip photonic integration and tunable emis…
