We investigate the convergence dynamics of this system near period-doubling bifurcations by combining analytical derivations and large-scale numerical simulations. At the bifurcation threshold ($K = K_c$), the dynamics reduce to a normal form that produces a power-law decay $d(n) \propto n^{-1/2}$, from which the critical exponents $α= 1$, $β= -1/2$, and $z = -2$ are derived. These analytical predictions are confirmed numerically and shown to satisfy the homogeneous scaling relation $z = α/ β$. Linearization of the map near the fixed point yields an exponential relaxation law $d_n = d_0 e^{-n/τ}$ for $K < K_c$, with $τ\propto (K_c - K)^{-1}$, leading to the relaxation exponent $δ= -1$. The remarkable agreement between theory and simulation demonstrates that the dissipative relativistic kicked rotator shares the same universality class as one-dimensional unimodal maps, despite its higher dimensionality and relativistic corrections.
We highlight a few recent results on the effect of the diffusion process in deterministic area preserving maps with noncompact phase space, namely the standard map. In more detail, we focus on the anomalous diffusion arising due to the accelerator modes, i.e. resonant-like features of the phase space which are transported in a super-diffusive (ballistic) manner. Their presence affects also the trajectories lying in the immediate neighborhood resulting in anomalous (non-Gaussian) diffusion. We aim to shed some light on these special properties of the phase space by utilizing the diffusion expon…
We study the quantum kicked rotator in the classically fully chaotic regime $K=10$ and for various values of the quantum parameter $k$ using Izrailev's $N$-dimensional model for various $N \le 3000$, which in the limit $N \rightarrow \infty$ tends to the exact quantized kicked rotator. By numerically calculating the eigenfunctions in the basis of the angular momentum we find that the localization length ${\cal L}$ for fixed parameter values has a certain distribution, in fact its inverse is Gaussian distributed, in analogy and in connection with the distribution of finite time Lyapunov exponen…
We review our recent works on the dynamical localization in the quantum kicked rotator (QKR) and the related properties of the classical kicked rotator (the standard map, SM). We introduce the Izrailev $N$-dimensional model of the QKR and analyze the localization properties of the Floquet eigenstates [{\em Phys. Rev. E} {\bf 87}, 062905 (2013)], and the statistical properties of the quasienergy spectra. We survey normal and anomalous diffusion in the SM, and the related accelerator modes [{\em Phys. Rev. E} {\bf 89}, 022905 (2014)]. We analyze the statistical properties [{\em Phys. Rev. E} {\b…

For a mechanical system consisting of a rotator and a pendulum coupled via a small, time-periodic Hamiltonian perturbation, the Arnold diffusion problem asserts the existence of `diffusing orbits' along which the energy of the rotator grows by an amount independent of the size of the coupling parameter, for all sufficiently small values of the coupling parameter. There is a vast literature on establishing Arnold diffusion for such systems. In this work, we consider the case when an additional, dissipative perturbation is added to the rotator-pendulum system with coupling. Therefore, the system…
