The aim of this paper is studying the compact global attractors for non-autonomous lattice dynamical systems of the form $u_{i}'=ν(u_{i-1}-2u_i+u_{i+1})-λu_{i}+f(u_i)+f_{i}(t)\ (i\in \mathbb Z,\ λ>0)$. We prove their dissipativness, asymptotic compactness and then the existence of compact global attractors.
We consider the pullback attractors for non-autonomous dynamical systems generated by stochastic lattice differential equations with non-autonomous deterministic terms. We first establish a sufficient condition for existence of pullback attractors of lattice dynamical systems with both non-autonomous deterministic and random forcing terms. As an application of the abstract theory, we prove the existence of a unique pullback attractor for the first-order lattice dynamical systems with both deterministic non-autonomous forcing terms and multiplicative white noise. Our results recover many existi…
If the semigroup is slowly non-dissipative, i.e., its solutions can diverge to infinity as time tends to infinity, one still can study its dynamics via the approach by the unbounded attractors - the counterpart of the classical notion of global attractors. We continue the development of this theory started by Chepyzhov and Goritskii [CG92]. We provide the abstract results on the unbouded attractor existence, and we study the properties of these attractors, as well as of unbounded $ω$-limit sets in slowly non-dissipative setting. We also develop the pullback non-autonomous counterpart of the un…
In this paper we consider sufficient conditions for the existence of uniform compact global attractor for non-autonomous dynamical systems in special classes of infinite-dimensional phase spaces. The obtained generalizations allow us to avoid the restrictive compactness assumptions on the space of shifts of non-autonomous terms in particular evolution problems. The results are applied to several evolution inclusions.
Using Conley theory we show that local attractors remain (past) attractors under small non-autonomous perturbations. In particular, the attractors of the perturbed systems will have positive invariant neighborhoods and converge upper semicontinuously to the original attractor. The result is split into a finite-dimensional part (locally compact) and an infinite-dimensional part (not necessarily locally compact). The finite-dimensional part will be applicable to bounded random noise, i.e. continuous time random dynamical systems on a locally compact metric space which are uniformly close the unp…
The aim of this paper is to describe the structure of global attractors for non-autonomous difference systems of equations with recurrent (in particular, almost periodic) coefficients. We consider a special class of this type of systems (the so--called weak convergent systems). We study this problem in the framework of general non-autonomous dynamical systems (cocycles). We apply the general results obtained in our early papers to study the almost periodic (almost automorphic, recurrent) and asymptotically almost periodic (asymptotically almost automorphic, asymptotically recurrent) solutions …
For pullback attractors of asymptotically autonomous dynamical systems we study the convergences of their components towards the global attractors of the limiting semigroups. We use some conditions of uniform boundedness of pullback attractors, instead of uniform compactness conditions used in the literature. Both forward convergence and backward convergence are studied.
In this work we consider the non local evolution equation with time-dependent terms which arises in models of phase separation in $\mathbb{R}^N$ \[ \partial_t u=- u + g \left(β(J*u) +βh(t,u)\right) \] under some restrictions on $h$, growth restrictions on the nonlinear term $g$ and $β>1$. We prove, under suitable assumptions, existence, regularity and upper-semicontinuity of pullback attractors with respect to functional parameter $h(t)$ in some weighted spaces.
This paper studies a control method for switching stable coexisting attractors of a class of non-autonomous dynamical systems. The central idea is to introduce a continuous path for the system's trajectory to transition from its original undesired stable attractor to a desired one by varying one of the system parameters according to the information of the desired attractor. The behaviour of the control is studied numerically for both non-smooth and smooth dynamical systems, using a sof-impact and a Duffing oscillator as examples. Special attention is given to identify the regions where the pro…
We prove the existence and uniqueness of tempered random attractors for stochastic Reaction-Diffusion equations on unbounded domains with multiplicative noise and deterministic non-autonomous forcing. We establish the periodicity of the tempered attractors when the stochastic equations are forced by periodic functions. We further prove the upper semicontinuity of these attractors when the intensity of stochastic perturbations approaches zero.
The authors consider non-autonomous dynamical behavior of wave-type evolutionary equations with nonlinear damping and critical nonlinearity. These type of waves equations are formulated as non-autonomous dynamical systems (namely, cocycles). A sufficient and necessary condition for the existence of pullback attractors is established for norm-to-weak continuous non-autonomous dynamical systems, in terms of pullback asymptotic compactness or pullback $κ-$contraction criteria. A technical method for verifying pullback asymptotic compactness, via contractive functions, is devised. These results ar…
We consider a family of non-autonomous reaction-diffusion equations with almost periodic, rapidly oscillating principal part and nonlinear interactions. As the frequency of the oscillations tends to infinity, we prove that the solutions of the non-autonomous equations converge to the solutions of the autonomous averaged equation. If the nonlinearity is dissipative, we prove existence of compact attractors and their upper-semicontinuity at infinity.
The article is devoted to the study of non-autonomous Navier-Stokes equations. First, the authors have proved that such systems admit compact global attractors. This problem is formulated and solved in the terms of general non-autonomous dynamical systems. Second, they have obtained conditions of convergence of non-autonomous Navier-Stokes equations. Third, a criterion for the existence of almost periodic (quasi periodic, almost automorphic, recurrent, pseudo recurrent) solutions of non-autonomous Navier-Stokes equations is given. Finally, the authors have derived a global averaging principle f…
Conditions are given which imply that certain non-autonomous analytic iterated function systems (NIFS's) in the complex plane C have uniformly perfect attractor sets. Examples are given to illustrate the main theorem, as well as to indicate how it generalizes other results. Examples are also given to illustrate how natural generalizations of corresponding results for autonomous IFS's do not hold in general in this more flexible setting.
We study the long time behavior of solutions of the non-autonomous Reaction-Diffusion equation defined on the entire space R^n when external terms are unbounded in a phase space. The existence of a pullback global attractor for the equation is established in L^2(R^n) and H^1(R^n), respectively. The pullback asymptotic compactness of solutions is proved by using uniform a priori estimates on the tails of solutions outside bounded domains.
The existence of a pullback attractor is established for the singularly perturbed FitzHugh-Nagumo system defined on the entire space $R^n$ when external terms are unbounded in a phase space. The pullback asymptotic compactness of the system is proved by using uniform a priori estimates for far-field values of solutions. Although the limiting system has no global attractor, we show that the pullback attractors for the perturbed system with bounded external terms are uniformly bounded, and hence do not blow up as a small parameter approaches zero.
This article concerns the long-term random dynamics in regular spaces for a non-autonomous Navier-Stokes equation defined on a bounded smooth domain $\mathcal{O}$ driven by multiplicative and additive noise. For the two kinds of noise driven equations, we demonstrate the existence of a unique pullback attractor which is backward compact and asymptotically autonomous in $\mathbb{L}^2(\mathcal{O})$ and $\mathbb{H}_0^1(\mathcal{O})$, respectively. The backward-uniform flattening property of the solution is used to prove the backward-uniform pullback asymptotic compactness of the non-autonomous ra…
In this paper, under some appropriate assumptions, we prove the existence of the minimal time-dependent pullback $\mathcal D_σ^{\mathcal{H}_{t}}$-attractors ${\mathcal{A}}_{\mathcal D_σ^{\mathcal{H}_{t}}}$ for the non-autonomous nonlocal diffusion equations in time-dependent space $\mathcal{H}_{t}(Ω)$. Next, in same phase space, using a priori estimate and energy methods we establish the existence of time-dependent pullback attractors $\left\{A_ξ(t)\right\}_{t \in \mathbb R}$ and the upper semicontinuity of $\left\{A_ξ(t)\right\}_{t \in \mathbb R}$ and the global attractor $A$ of the equation …
In this paper, we prove the existences of pullback attractors in $L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^N)\times L^{2}(\mathbb{R}^N)$ for stochastic Fitzhugh-Nagumo system driven by both additive noises and deterministic non-autonomous forcings. The nonlinearity is polynomial like growth with exponent $p-1$. The asymptotic compactness for the cocycle in $L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^N)\times L^{2}(\mathbb{R}^N)$ is proved by using asymptotic a priori method, where the plus and minus signs of the nonlinearity at large value are not required.
In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of solution to a non-autonomous diffusion equations with delay containing some hereditary characteristics and nonlocal diffusion in time-dependent space $C_{\mathcal{H}_{t}(Ω)}$. When the nonlinear function $f$ satisfies the polynomial growth of arbitrary order $p-1$ $(p \ge 2)$ and the external force $h \in L_{l o c}^{2}\left(\mathbb{R} ; H^{-1}(Ω)\right)$, we establish the existence and regularity of the time-dependent pullback attractors.
In the stability theory of dynamical systems, Lyapunov functions play a fundamental role. In this paper, we study the attractor-repeller pair decomposition and Morse decomposition for compact metric space in the random setting. In contrast to [8], by introducing slightly stronger definitions of random attractor and repeller, we characterize attractor-repeller pair decompositions and Morse decompositions for random dynamical systems through the existence of Lyapunov functions. These characterizations, we think, deserve to be known widely.
As it is well-known, the forwards and pullback dynamics are in general unrelated. In this paper we present an in-depth study of whether the pullback attractor is also a forwards attractor for the processes involved with the skew-product semiflow induced by a family of scalar non-autonomous reaction-diffusion equations which are linear in a neighbourhood of zero and have null upper Lyapunov exponent. Besides, the notion of Li-Yorke chaotic pullback attractor for a process is introduced, and we prove that this chaotic behaviour might occur for almost all the processes. When the problems are addi…
This paper is devoted to considering the stochastic lattice dynamical systems (SLDS) driven by fractional Brownian motions with Hurst parameter bigger than $1/2$. Under usual dissipativity conditions these SLDS are shown to generate a random dynamical system for which the existence and unique of a random attractor is established. Furthermore, the random attractor is in fact a singleton sets random attractor. Next, we give an erratum because of the misused theory.
Conditions are given which imply that certain non-autonomous analytic iterated function systems (NIFS's) in the complex plane have uniformly perfect attractor sets, while other conditions imply the attractor is pointwise thin, and thus hereditarily non uniformly perfect. Examples are given to illustrate the main theorems, as well as to indicate how they generalize other results. Examples are also given to illustrate how possible generalizations of corresponding results for autonomous IFS's do not hold in general in this more flexible setting. Further, applications to non-autonomous Julia sets …
The asymptotically autonomous robustness of random attractors of stochastic fluid equations defined on \emph{bounded} domains has been considered in the literature. In this article, we initially consider this topic (almost surely and in probability) for a non-autonomous stochastic 2D Navier-Stokes equation driven by additive and multiplicative noise defined on some \emph{unbounded Poincaré domains}. There are two significant keys to study this topic: what is the asymptotically autonomous limiting set of the time-section of random attractors as time goes to negative infinity, and how to show th…
In this paper, we show that geometric Lorenz attractors have Hausdorff dimension strictly greater than $2$. We use this result to show that for a "large" set of real functions the Lagrange and Markov Dynamical spectrum associated to these attractors has persistently non-empty interior.
We study in this paper global properties, mainly of topological nature, of attractors of discrete dynamical systems. We consider the Andronov-Hopf bifurcation for homeomorphisms of the plane and establish some robustness properties for attractors of such homeomorphisms. We also give relations between attractors of flows and quasi-attractors of homeomorphisms in Rn. Finally, we give a result on the shape (in the sense of Borsuk) of invariant sets of IFSs on the plane, and make some remarks about the recent theory of Conley attractors for IFS.
We consider dynamical behavior of non-autonomous wave-type evolutionary equations with nonlinear damping, critical nonlinearity, and time-dependent external forcing which is translation bounded but not translation compact (i.e., external forcing is not necessarily time-periodic, quasi-periodic or almost periodic). A sufficient and necessary condition for the existence of uniform attractors is established using the concept of uniform asymptotic compactness. The required compactness for the existence of uniform attractors is then fulfilled by some new a priori estimates for concrete wave type eq…
We discuss the existence of the global attractor for a family of processes $U_σ(t,τ)$ acting on a metric space $X$ and depending on a symbol $σ$ belonging to some other metric space $Σ$. Such an attractor is uniform with respect to $σ\inΣ$, as well as with respect to the choice of the initial time $τ\in\R$. The existence of the attractor is established for totally dissipative processes without any continuity assumption. When the process satisfies some additional (but rather mild) continuity-like hypotheses, a characterization of the attractor is given.
We study the long-time dynamics of a non-autonomous coupled system consisting of the 3D linearized Na\-vier--Stokes equations and nonlinear elasticity equations. We show that this problem generates a process on time-dependent spaces possessing a pullback attractor.
This paper is concerned with a non-autonomous sup-cubic semilinear wave equation in a smooth bounded domain of $\mathbb R^{3}$, using the introduced weak topology entropy, we obtain an upper bound for the $\varepsilon$-entropy of the uniform attractor for the case where the external forces are not translation-compact.
This paper is devoted to the quantitative study of the attractive velocity of generalized attractors for infinite-dimensional dynamical systems. We introduce the notion of~$φ$-attractor whose attractive speed is characterized by a general non-negative decay function~$φ$, and prove that~$φ$-decay with respect to noncompactness measure is a sufficient condition for a dissipitive system to have a~$φ$-attractor. Furthermore, several criteria for~$φ$-decay with respect to noncompactness measure are provided. Finally, as an application, we establish the existence of a generalized exponential attract…
This survey is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Mark Iosifovich Vishik and is based on a number of mini-courses taught by the author at University of Surrey (UK) and Lanzhou University (China). It discusses the classical and modern results of the theory of attractors for dissipative PDEs including attractors for autonomous and non-autonomous equations, dynamical systems in general topological spaces, various types of trajectory, pullback and random attractors, exponential attractors, determining functionals and inertial manifolds as well as the dimension theory for the above mentioned cla…
This paper concerns the tempered pullback dynamics of 2D incompressible non-autonomous Navier-Stokes equation with non-homogeneous boundary condition on Lipschitz-like domain. With the presence of a time-dependent external force f(t) which only needs to be pullback translation bounded, we establish the existence of a minimal pullback attractor with respect to a universe of tempered sets for the corresponding non-autonomous dynamical system. We then give estimate on the finite fractal dimension of the attractor based on trace formula. Under the additional assumption that the external force is t…
The paper deals with topical issues of modern mathematical theory of dynamical chaos and its applications. At present, it is customary to assume that dynamical chaos in finitedimensional smooth systems can exist in three different forms. This is dissipative chaos, the mathematical image of which is a strange attractor; conservative chaos, for which the entire phase space is a large "chaotic sea" with randomly spaced elliptical islands inside it; and mixed dynamics, characterized by the principal inseparability in the phase space of attractors, repellers and conservative elements of dynamics. I…
The purpose of this paper is to give a characterization of the structure of non-autonomous attractors of the problem $u_t= u_{xx} + λu - β(t)u^3$ when the parameter $λ> 0$ varies. Also, we answer a question proposed in [11], concerning the complete description of the structure of the pullback attractor of the problem when $1<λ<4$ and, more generally, for $λ\neq N^2$, $2 \leq N \in \mathbb{N}$. We construct global bounded solutions , "non-autonomous equilibria", connections between the trivial solution these "non-autonomous equilibria" and characterize the $α$-limit and $ω$-limit set of global …
In this article we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions, in sense of global pullback attractors, of the evolution system $$ \begin{cases} u_{tt} +ηΔ^2 u+a(t)Δθ=f(t,u), & t>τ,\ x\inΩ,\\ θ_t-κΔθ-a(t)Δu_t=0, & t>τ,\ x\inΩ, \end{cases} $$ subject to boundary conditions $$ u=Δu=θ=0,\ t>τ,\ x\in\partialΩ, $$ where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with $N\geqslant 2$, which boundary $\partialΩ$ is assumed to be a $\mathcal{C}^4$-hypersurface, $η>0$ and $κ>0$ are constants, $a$ is an Hölder continuous function, $f$ is a dissipative nonlinearity locally Lipschitz in the second variable.
In this paper we show the lower semicontinuity of the global attractors of autonomous thermoelastic plate systems with Neumann boundary conditions when some reaction terms are concentrated in a neighborhood of the boundary and this neighborhood shrinks to boundary as a parameter $\varepsilon$ goes to zero.

We analyze a multiparameter periodically-forced dynamical system inspired in the SIR endemic model. We show that the condition on the \emph{basic reproduction number} $\mathcal{R}_0 < 1$ is not sufficient to guarantee the elimination of \emph{Infectious} individuals due to a \emph{backward bifurcation}. Using the theory of rank-one attractors, for an open subset in the space of parameters where $\mathcal{R}_0<1$, the flow exhibits \emph{persistent strange attractors}. These sets are not confined to a tubular neighbourhood in the phase space, are numerically observable and shadow the ghost of a…
Dynamics arising persistently in smooth dynamical systems ranges from regular dynamics (periodic, quasiperiodic) to strongly chaotic dynamics (Anosov, uniformly hyperbolic, nonuniformly hyperbolic modelled by Young towers). The latter include many classical examples such as Lorenz and Hénon-like attractors and enjoy strong statistical properties. It is natural to conjecture (or at least hope) that most dynamical systems fall into these two extreme situations. We describe a numerical test for such a conjecture/hope and apply this to the logistic map where the conjecture holds by a theorem of Ly…
We describe the basic lattice structures of attractors and repellers in dynamical systems. The structure of distributive lattices allows for an algebraic treatment of gradient-like dynamics in general dynamical systems, both invertible and noninvertible. We separate those properties which rely solely on algebraic structures from those that require some topological arguments, in order to lay a foundation for the development of algorithms to manipulate these structures computationally.
The upper semicontinuity of random attractors for non-compact random dynamical systems is proved when the union of all perturbed random attractors is precompact with probability one. This result is applied to the stochastic Reaction-Diffusion with white noise defined on the entire space R^n.
We study pullback attractors of non-autonomous non-compact dynamical systems generated by differential equations with non-autonomous deterministic as well as stochastic forcing terms. We first introduce the concepts of pullback attractors and asymptotic compactness for such systems. We then prove a sufficient and necessary condition for existence of pullback attractors. We also introduce the concept of complete orbits for this sort of systems and use these special solutions to characterize the structures of pullback attractors. For random systems containing periodic deterministic forcing terms…
By the Lyapunov-Perron method,we prove the existence of random inertial manifolds for a class of equations driven simultaneously by non-autonomous deterministic and stochastic forcing. These invariant manifolds contain tempered pullback random attractors if such attractors exist. We also prove pathwise periodicity and almost periodicity of inertial manifolds when non-autonomous deterministic forcing is periodic and almost periodic in time, respectively.
