Within the framework of Non-Relativistic Quantum Chromodynamics (NRQCD) factorization, we calculate the next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD corrections to the form factors for the semileptonic decays of $B_c^*$ into $J/ψ$ via (axial-)vector and (axial-)tensor currents. We obtain the complete analytical results for the form factors up to NLO, and provide their asymptotic expressions in the hierarchical heavy quark limit. The NLO corrections are found to be both significant and convergent in the relatively small squared transfer momentum ($q^2$) region, while also reducing the dependence on the renormalization scale $μ$. Finally, the theoretical predictions for $B_c^*\to J/ψ$ form factors over the full $q^2$ range are provided.
We present the matching coefficient for the quark beam function at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD in the generalized large $N_c$-approximation, $N_c \sim N_f \gg 1$. Although several refinements are still needed to make this result interesting for phenomenological applications, our computation shows that a fully-differential description of simple color singlet production processes at a hadron collider at N$^3$LO in perturbative QCD is within reach.
Renormalization scheme uncertainties in the next-next-to-leading order QCD predictions are discussed. To obtain an estimate of these uncertainties it is proposed to compare predictions in all schemes that do not have unnaturally large expansion coefficients. A concrete prescription for eliminating the unnatural schemes is given, based on the requirement that large cancellations in the expression for the characteristic renormalization scheme invariant should be avoided. As an example the QCD corrections to the Bjorken sum rule are considered. The importance of the next-next-to-leading order cor…
We present the third-order QCD prediction for the production of top-anti-top quark pairs in electron-positron collisions close to the threshold in the dominant S-wave state. We observe a significant reduction of the theoretical uncertainty and discuss the sensitivity to the top quark mass and width.
We study the infrared behaviour of tree-level QCD amplitudes and we derive infrared-factorization formulae that are valid at any perturbative order. We explicitly compute all the universal infrared factors that control the singularities in the various soft and/or collinear limits at O(as^2).
We present an estimate of the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to mixed QCD-electroweak contribution to Higgs boson production cross section in gluon fusion, combining the recently computed three-loop virtual corrections and the approximate treatment of real emission in the soft approximation. We find that the NLO QCD corrections to mixed QCD-electroweak contributions are nearly identical to NLO QCD corrections to QCD Higgs production. Our result confirms an earlier estimate of these ${\cal O}\left( α\, α_s^2 \right)$ effects in arXiv:0811.3458 [hep-ph] and provides further support for th…
In this talk I review the calculation of the third order corrections to the heavy quarkonium spectrum in the nonrelativistic effective theory framework and its application to the phenomenology of top quark threshold production.
We present the Higgs boson pair production cross section at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD within the large top-mass approximation. Numerical results for the LHC are provided, finding an increase of O(20%) with respect to the previous order prediction and a substantial reduction in the scale dependence. We normalize our results using the full top- and bottom-mass dependence at leading order.
We present universal factorization formulas describing the behavior of one-loop QCD amplitudes as external momenta become either soft or collinear. Our results are valid to all orders in the dimensional regularization parameter, $\eps$. Terms through $\Ord(\eps^2)$ can contribute in infrared divergent phase space integrals associated with next-to-next-to-leading order jet cross-sections.
We carry out a global QCD analysis of parton-to-pion fragmentation functions at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) accuracy by performing a fit to the combined set of single-inclusive electron-positron annihilation and, for the first time, semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (SIDIS) multiplicity data. For the latter, we utilize the approximate NNLO QCD corrections that were derived recently within the threshold resummation formalism. We explore the impact of the NNLO corrections on the description of the SIDIS data sets in various kinematic regimes and on the resulting pion fragmentatio…
We discuss some recent developments in the evaluation of the QCD corrections to $Δρ$, their interpretation, an estimate of the theoretical error, and its effect on electroweak physics.
We derive the next-to-leading order splitting kernels for the scale evolution of fragmentation functions for transversely polarized quarks into transversely polarized hadrons.
We present the complete calculation of the top-quark decay width at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD, including next-to-leading electroweak corrections as well as finite bottom quark mass and $W$ boson width effects. In particular, we also show the first results of the fully differential decay rates for top-quark semileptonic decay $t\to W^+(l^+ν)b$ at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD. Our method is based on the understanding of the invariant mass distribution of the final-state jet in the singular limit from effective field theory. Our result can be used to study arbitrary infrared-sa…
The ${\cal O}(α_s)$ QCD corrections to the three-body decay width of the charged Higgs $Γ$($H^+\to W^+b\bar{b}$) are discussed in the MSSM model. Our calculations indicate that the standard QCD corrections to the three-body decay mode raise the width by about 12% and the supersymmetric QCD corrections(due to $\tilde{g}, \tilde{t}, \tilde{b}$ exchanges) can be comparable to or even larger than the standard QCD corrctions in some regions of the supersymmetric parameter space. This is mainly due to the effect of large left-right mixing of stop($\tilde{t}$). It could significantly affect the pheno…
I discuss the effects of QCD radiative corrections in Supersymmetric theories. After summarizing the SUSY--QCD lagrangian in the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model, I will discuss the new features introduced by SUSY, and the main complications compared to standard QCD corrections. I will then discuss a few examples of QCD calculations in SUSY theories, for standard processes and for processes involving SUSY particles including the extended Higgs sector. [Talk given at "QCD 97", Montpellier 3-9 July 1997.]
We discuss a simple method to evaluate the QCD corrections to $Δρ$. It assumes that the perturbative expansion in terms of $\ms$ parameters is meaningful and, unlike other studies, exploits significant available information concerning $\chass$ corrections. This approach leads to an enhancement of $\sim26\%$ relative to the conventional evaluation. QCD corrections to the $Z^0\to b\bar b$ amplitude are also considered. Implications for electroweak physics are briefly discussed.
The procedure of the estimates of the higher-order perturbative QCD corrections to the physical quantities is generalized to the case when the quantities under consideration obey the renormalization group equationts with the corresponding anomalous dimension function. This procedure is used to estimate the $α_s^3$-corrections to the singlet part of the Ellis-Jaffe sum rule for $f=3$ numbers of flavours.
We present results on NLO-QCD corrections to the process e+ e- --> hadrons via photon-, Z- and graviton-exchange in the context of TeV-scale gravity models. The quantitative impact of these QCD corrections for searches of extra dimensions at a Linear Collider is briefly discussed.
We compute the mixed QCD$\otimes$QED corrections to the production of on-shell $Z$ bosons at the LHC at a fully-exclusive level. We also include the factorised NLO QCD correction to $Z$ boson production and NLO QED correction to $Z$ boson decay into two leptons. We make use of an abelianised version of the nested soft-collinear subtraction formalism to perform this computation. We study the phenomenological impact of the mixed QCD$\otimes$QED corrections for a number of observables relevant for LHC phenomenology.
We present a new subtraction scheme for computing jet cross sections in electron-positron annihilation at next-to-leading order accuracy in perturbative QCD. The new scheme is motivated by problems emerging in extending the subtraction scheme to the next-to-next-to-leading order. The new scheme is tested by comparing predictions for three-jet event-shape distributions to those obtained by the standard program EVENT.
We calculate the two-loop QCD corrections to the production of the neutral supersymmetric Higgs bosons via the gluon fusion mechanism at hadron colliders, including the contributions of squark loops. To a good approximation, these additional contributions lead to the same QCD corrections as in the case where only top and bottom quark loops are taken into account. The QCD corrections are large and increase the Higgs production cross sections significantly.
It is performed for the first time a next-to-next-to-leading order analysis of deep inelastic structure functions $F_2$ and $F_L$ using the recently determined first moments of the non-singlet anomalous dimensions and the corresponding Wilson coefficients. {}From a comparison to BCDMS data we found a slight decrease in the energy scale of perturbative QCD with respect to the next-to-leading order analysis, which brings the scale closer to the value predicted from a scheme invariant approach.
We calculate the one-loop QCD correction for inclusive jet cross section and Drell-Yan process in a general low-energy effective Lagrangian for composite quarks and leptons.
We review status of the power corrections in QCD. The topics include shape variables, unconventional 1/Q^2 corrections, tachyonic gluon mass as a fit parameter to the 1/Q^2 corrections. The selection of the material is determined mostly by results presented at the Conference QCD'98 (Montpellier, July 1998). Some background comments are also included.
We compute the supersymmetric QCD corrections to the decay distribution of polarized top quarks for the semileptonic decay mode $t(\uparrow)\to b l^+ν_l$. As a byproduct, we reinvestigate the SUSY-QCD corrections to the total decay width $Γ(t\to W^+b)$ and resolve a discrepancy between two previous results in the literature.
We discuss the ${\cal O}(α_s)$ QCD radiative corrections to Higgs boson production in the limit in which the top quark is much heavier than the Higgs boson. The subleading corrections, of ${\cal O} (α_s M_H^2/M_{\rm top}^2)$, are presented for the decay $H\rightarrow γγ$ and shown to be small.
We present the tree-level amplitudes involving one, two and three photons that are required for next-to-leading order QCD calculations of production rates of three final-state particles. We also present the required one-loop amplitudes in terms of previously published results.
I review recent advances in the calculation of higher-order soft-gluon corrections for a variety of QCD, Higgs, and SUSY processes in hadron colliders. A unified approach and master formulas for next-to-next-to-leading order soft and virtual corrections are discussed. I present some applications of the formalism to top quark pair production at the Tevatron and the LHC, top production via anomalous couplings in flavor-changing neutral-current processes, W boson hadroproduction at large transverse momentum, and charged Higgs production at the LHC.
The simultaneous QCD analysis of the $xF_3$ structure functions measured in deep-inelastic scattering by several collaborations is done up to 3--loop order of QCD. The x dependence of the higher--twist contribution is evaluated and turns out to be in a qualitative agreement with the results of "old" CCFR data analysis and with renormalon approach predictions. The Gross--Llewellyn Smith sum rule and its higher--twist corrections are evaluated.
We consider the singular behaviour of tree-level QCD amplitudes when the momenta of three partons become simultaneously parallel. We discuss the universal factorization formula that controls the singularities of the multiparton matrix elements in this collinear limit and present the explicit expressions of the corresponding splitting functions. The results fully include spin (azimuthal) correlations up to ${\cal O}(\as^2)$. In the case of spin-averaged splitting functions we confirm similar results obtained by Campbell and Glover.
This is a report of the concluding talk presented at the International Symposium on QCD Corrections and New Physics which was held during October 27-29, 1997 at Mielparque Hiroshima, Hiroshima, Japan. The report will be published in the Conference Proceedings.
We compute the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to the gluon-fusion subprocess of diphoton-plus-jet production at the LHC. We compute fully differential distributions by combining two-loop virtual corrections with one-loop real radiation using antenna subtraction to cancel infrared divergences. We observe significant corrections at NLO which demonstrate the importance of combining these corrections with the quark-induced diphoton-plus-jet channel at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO).
A review is presented on all higher order QCD corrections to deep inelastic structure functions. The implications of these corrections for polarized and unpolarized deep inelastic lepton-hadron scattering will be discussed.
An estimate of the NNLO supersymmetric QCD effects for Higgs production at hadron colliders is given. Assuming an effective gluon-Higgs interaction, these corrections enter only in terms of process-independent, factorizable terms. We argue that the current knowledge of these terms up to NLO is sufficient to derive the NNLO hadronic cross section within the limitations of the standard theoretical uncertainties arising mainly from renormalization and factorization scale variations. The SUSY contributions are small with respect to the QCD effects, which means that the NNLO corrections to Higgs pr…
I present a master formula for the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) soft and virtual QCD corrections for any process in hadron-hadron and lepton-hadron colliders. The formula is derived from a unified threshold resummation formalism. Applications to various QCD processes are discussed.
We compute the three-loop master integrals required for the calculation of the triple-real contribution to the N$^3$LO quark beam function due to the splitting of a quark into a virtual quark and three collinear gluons, $q \to q^*+ggg$. This provides an important ingredient for the calculation of the leading-color contribution to the quark beam function at N$^3$LO.
An analytic formula for the two-loop QCD correction of the decay H --> 2 gamma is presented. To evaluate all master integrals a `Risch-like' algorithm was exploited.
We present the calculations of the supersymmetric QCD corrections to the total cross sections for single top production at the Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN Large Hadron Collider in the minimal supersymmetric standard model. Our results show that for the s-channel and t-channel, the supersymmetric QCD corrections are at most about 1%, but for the associated production process, the supersymmetric QCD corrections increase the total cross sections significantly, which can reach about 6% for most values of the parameters, and the supersymmetric QCD corrections should be taken into consideration i…
We present an analysis of two-loop mixed QCD and electroweak corrections to the decay of the Z boson into light quarks. We find that the naive factorization of QCD and electroweak corrections does not describe correctly the two-loop effects. The nonfactorizable corrections shift the width of the Z boson by approximately -0.55(3) MeV and increase the central value of the strong coupling constant determined at LEP by 0.001.
The method originally developed for the exact calculations in QED theory is applied for the calculation of NLO effects in QCD Compton processes. QCD corrections to the structure functions and sum rules are obtained. Different interpretations of the NLO effects due to finite quark mass are discussed.
Supersymmetric relations between dimensionless couplings receive finite correction at one-loop when supersymmetry is broken softly. We calculate the $O(α_s)$ correction to the squark decay width to a quark and an electroweak gaugino, which is found to be nonvanishing. Logarithmic correction appears when the gluino is heavy.
We present the results of our QCD analysis for non-singlet unpolarized quark distributions and structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ up to N$^3$LO. In this regards 4-loop anomalous dimension can be obtain from the Padé approximations. The analysis is based on the Jacobi polynomials expansion of the structure function. New parameterizations are derived for the non-singlet quark distributions for the kinematic wide range of $x$ and $Q^2$. Our calculations for non-singlet unpolarized quark distribution functions up to N$^3$LO are in good agreement with available theoretical models. The higher twist con…
We point out that, contrary to existing claims of the opposite, Vainshtein's theorem on the non-renormalization of the correlator of an axial and two vector currents, is only valid in the chiral limit. When quarks, that contribute to the correlator, are massive, the QCD corrections do not vanish and the transversal and longitudinal functions are renormalized differently. We compute those corrections and study their implications for QCD effects in electroweak corrections to the muon anomalous magnetic moment.
Top-quark pair production with an additional jet is an important signal and background process at the LHC. We present the next-to-leading order QCD calculation for this process and show results for integrated as well as differential cross sections.
Differential cross sections for inclusive dijet photoproduction on a virtual pion have been calculated in next-to-leading order QCD as a function of $E_T, η$, and $x_π$. The cross sections are compared with recent ZEUS data on photoproduction of dijets with a leading neutron in the final state.
We calculate the one-loop QCD corrections to $t\rightarrow \tilde t_1 \tilde χ^0_j$ using dimensional reduction scheme, including QCD and supersymmetric QCD corrections. The analytic expressions for the corrections to the decay width are given, which can easily be extended to $t\rightarrow \tilde χ^+_j \tilde b_i $. The numerical results show that the correction amounts to more than a 10\% reduction in the partial width relative to the tree level result. We also compare the corrections in the no-mixing stop case with those in the mixing stop case.
We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections to event shape distributions and their mean values in deep inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering. The magnitude and shape of the corrections varies considerably between different variables. The corrections reduce the renormalization and factorization scale uncertainty of the predictions. Using a dispersive model to describe non-perturbative power corrections, we compare the NNLO QCD predictions with data from the H1 and ZEUS experiments. The newly derived corrections improve the theory description of the distributions and of the…
We compute the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to WZ+jet production at the Tevatron and the LHC, including decays of the electroweak bosons to light leptons with all off-shell effects taken into account. The corrections are sizable and have significant impact on the differential distributions.
We calculate QCD correction to the neutralino annihilation cross section into quark anti-quark final state and discuss its implications to the calculation of neutralino relic density. We see that the QCD correction enhances the pair-annihilation cross section by O(10 %) when final-state quarks are non-relativistic. Consequently, when the lightest neutralinos dominantly annihilate into a t\bar{t} pair, the relic density of the lightest neutralino is significantly affected by the QCD correction, in particular when the lightest-neutralino mass is close to the top-quark mass.
We calculate the full one-loop SUSY-QCD corrections to stop annihilation into gluons and light quarks including the Sommerfeld enhancement effect and discuss their impact on the neutralino relic density in the MSSM.
Substantial progress has been made recently in the formalisms which form the basis of event generators. I discuss some of the ideas involved, emphasizing the role of higher-order QCD corrections and their interplay with parton showers
We compute the supersymmetric QCD corrections to the polarization and the spin correlations of top quarks produced above threshold in e+e- collisions, taking into account arbitrary longitudinal polarization of the initial beams.
We analyze the next-to-leading order SUSY-QCD corrections to the production of Higgs particles at hadron colliders in supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model. Besides the standard QCD corrections due to gluon exchange and emission, genuine supersymmetric corrections due to the virtual exchange of squarks and gluinos are present. At both the Tevatron and the LHC, these corrections are found to be small in the Higgs-strahlung, Drell-Yan-like Higgs pair production and vector boson fusion processes.
We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections to the thrust distribution in electron-positron annihilation. The corrections turn out to be sizable, enhancing the previously known next-to-leading order prediction by about 15%. Inclusion of the NNLO corrections significantly reduces the theoretical renormalisation scale uncertainty on the prediction of the thrust distribution.
We present next-to-leading order QCD corrections to production of two $W$ bosons in hadronic collisions in the extra dimension ADD model. Various kinematical distributions are obtained to order $α_s$ in QCD by taking into account all the parton level subprocesses. We estimate the impact of the QCD corrections on various observables and find that they are significant. We also show the reduction in factorization scale uncertainty when ${\cal O}(α_s)$ effects are included.
We have calculated the splitting functions governing the evolution of the unpolarized parton distributions of the photon at the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) of massless perturbative QCD. The results, presented here mainly in terms of compact and accurate parametrizations, are consistent with our previous approximations based on the lowest six even-integer Mellin moments. Consequently the NNLO corrections are small in both the MSbar and the DIS_gamma factorization schemes at momentum fractions x >~ 0.1.
