We try to classify Hopf algebras with the Chevalley property according to their derived representation type. We show that a finite-dimensional indecomposable non-semisimple Hopf algebra $H$ with the Chevalley property is derived discrete if and only if it is isomorphic to $(A(n, 2, μ, -1))^*$. Besides, we give a description for the indecomposable objects in $\mathcal{D}^b((A(n, 2, μ, -1))^*)$ and determine their tensor products.
In this paper, we consider the Drinfeld double $\D$ of a $12$-dimensional Hopf algebra $\C$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero whose coradical is not a subalgebra and describe its simple modules, projective covers of the simple modules and show that it is of wild representation type. Moreover, we show that the Nichols algebras associated to non-simple indecomposable modules are infinite-dimensional. In particular, for any object $V$ in $\CYD$, if $\BN(V)$ is finite-dimensional, then $V$ must be semisimple. Finally, we describe the Nichols algebras associated to partial s…
We present new Hopf algebras with the dual Chevalley property by determining all semisimple Hopf algebras Morita-equivalent to a group algebra over a finite group, for a list of groups supporting a non-trivial finite-dimensional Nichols algebra.
Let $\mathds{k}$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We determine all finite-dimensional Hopf algebras over $\mathds{k}$ whose Hopf coradical is isomorphic to the unique $12$-dimensional Hopf algebra $\mathcal{C}$ without the dual Chevalley property, such that the diagrams are strictly graded and the corresponding infinitesimal braidings are indecomposable objects in ${}_{\mathcal{C}}^{\mathcal{C}}\mathcal{YD}$. In particular, we obtain new Nichols algebras of dimension $18$ and $36$ and two families of new Hopf algebras of dimension $216$.
We introduce and study new families of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras with the Chevalley property that are not pointed nor semisimple arising as twistings of quantum linear spaces. These Hopf algebras generalize the examples introduced in [AEG], [EG1], [EG2].
Let p be an odd prime and k an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We classify nonsemisimple Hopf algebras over k of dimension 8p with the Chevalley property, and give partial results on nonsemisimple Hopf algebras of dimension 24.
We say that a Hopf algebra has the Chevalley property if the tensor product of any two simple modules over this Hopf algebra is semisimple. In this paper we classify finite dimensional triangular Hopf algebras with the Chevalley property, over the field of complex numbers. Namely, we show that all of them are twists of triangular Hopf algebras with R-matrix having rank <=2, and explain that the latter ones are obtained from group algebras of finite supergroups by a simple modification procedure. We note that all examples of finite dimensional triangular Hopf algebras which are known to the aut…
Classifying Hopf algebras of a given dimension is a hard and open question. Using the generalized lifting method, we determine all finite-dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero whose coradical generates a Hopf algebra $H$ of dimension $16$ without the Chevalley property and the corresponding infinitesimal braidings are simple objects in $\HYD$. In particular, we figure out $8$ classes of new Hopf algebras of dimension $128$ without the Chevalley property.
In this paper, we study the antipode of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra $H$ with the dual Chevalley property and obtain an annihilation polynomial for its antipode $S$. The annihilation polynomial is determined by the exponent $N$ of the coradical and the Loewy length. In particular, the order of $S^2$ divides $N$ in characteristic $0$. Moreover, we get two characterizations of the quasi-exponent.
Recall that a triangular Hopf algebra A is said to have the Chevalley property if the tensor product of any two simple A-modules is semisimple, or, equivalently, if the radical of A is a Hopf ideal. There are two reasons to study this class of triangular Hopf algebras: First, it contains all known examples of finite-dimensional triangular Hopf algebras; second, it can be, in a sense, "completely understood". Namely, it was shown in our previous work with Andruskiewitsch that any finite-dimensional triangular Hopf algebra with the Chevalley property is obtained by twisting of a finite-dimension…
We show that all unipotent classes in finite simple Chevalley or Steinberg groups, different from PSL_n(q) and PSp_{2n}(q), collapse (i.e. are never the support of a finite-dimensional Nichols algebra), with a possible exception on one class of involutions in PSU_n(2^m).
In this paper we study the isotypic decomposition of the regular module of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. For a semisimple Hopf algebra, the idempotents realizing the isotypic decomposition can be explicitly expressed in terms of characters and the Haar integral. In this paper we investigate Hopf algebras with the Chevalley property, which are not necessarily semisimple. We find explicit expressions for idempotents in terms of Hopf-algebraic data, where the Haar integral is replaced by the regular character of the dual Hopf algebra.…
Let $A$ be a Hopf algebra over a field $K$ of characteristic zero such that its coradical $H$ is a finite dimensional sub-Hopf algebra. Our main theorem shows that there is a gauge transformation $ζ$ on $A$ such that $A^ζ\cong Q#H$ where $A^ζ$ is the dual quasi-bialgebra obtained from $A$ by twisting its multiplication by $ζ$, $Q$ is a connected dual quasi-bialgebra in $^H_H\mathcal{YD}$ and $Q #H $ is a dual quasi-bialgebra called the bosonization of $Q$ by $H$.
We show that all classes that are neither semisimple nor unipotent in finite simple Chevalley or Steinberg groups different from $PSL_n(q)$ collapse (i.e. are never the support of a finite-dimensional Nichols algebra). As a consequence, we prove that the only finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebra whose group of group-like elements is $PSp_{2n}(q)$, $PΩ^+_{4n}(q)$, $PΩ^-_{4n}(q)$, $^3D_4(q)$, $E_7(q)$, $E_8(q)$, $F_4(q)$, or $G_2(q)$ with q even is the group algebra.
We determine finite-dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, whose Hopf coradical is isomorphic to a non-pointed basic Hopf algebra of dimension $24$ and the infinitesimal braidings are indecomposable objects. In particular, we obtain families of new finite-dimensional Hopf algebras without the dual Chevalley property.
We classify finite-dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero whose Hopf coradcial is isomorphic to the smallest non-pointed basic Hopf algebra, under the assumption that the diagrams are strictly graded. In particular, we obtain some new Nichols algebras of non-diagonal type and new finite-dimensional Hopf algebras without the dual Chevalley property.
We determine and classify all finite-dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero whose Hopf coradicals are isomorphic to dual Radford algebras of dimension $4p$ for a prime $p>5$. In particular, we obtain families of new examples of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras without the dual Chevalley property.
We complete the classification of Hopf algebras of dimension 16 over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We show that a non-semisimple Hopf algebra of dimension 16, has either the Chevalley property or its dual is pointed.
We prove that the trace of the $n$th power of the antipode of a Hopf algebra with the Chevalley property is a gauge invariant, for each integer $n$. As a consequence, the order of the antipode, and its square, are invariant under Drinfeld twists. The invariance of the order of the antipode is closely related to a question of Shimizu on the pivotal covers of finite tensor categories, which we affirmatively answer for representation categories of Hopf algebras with the Chevalley property.
We prove an analog of Deligne's theorem for finite symmetric tensor categories $\mathcal{C}$ with the Chevalley property over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $2$. Namely, we prove that every such category $\mathcal{C}$ admits a symmetric fiber functor to the symmetric tensor category $\mathcal{D}$ of representations of the triangular Hopf algebra $(k[\dd]/(\dd^2),1\ot 1 + \dd\ot \dd)$. Equivalently, we prove that there exists a unique finite group scheme $G$ in $\mathcal{D}$ such that $\mathcal{C}$ is symmetric tensor equivalent to $\Rep_{\mathcal{D}}(G)$. Finally, we compu…
There are two notions of exponent of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras introduced and studied in the literature. In this note, we discuss and compare their properties including invariance and finiteness in this note. Specifically, one notion is invariant under twisting and taking the Drinfeld double, just like the other one. We also find that if the non-cosemisimplicity and dual Chevalley property hold, both exponents are infinite in characteristic $0$ but finite in positive characteristic.
We explain that a new theorem of Deligne on symmetric tensor categories implies, in a straightforward manner, that any finite dimensional triangular Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero has Chevalley property, and in particular the list of finite dimensional triangular Hopf algebras over such a field given in math.QA/0008232, math.QA/0101049 is complete. We also use Deligne's theorem to settle a number of questions about triangular Hopf algebras, raised in our previous publications, and generalize Deligne's result to nondegenerate semisimple categories in char…
The link relation on simple subcoalgebras is used for decompositions of coalgebras. In this paper, we provide more sufficient conditions for this link relation, and prove a formula on the products between link-indecomposable components of Hopf algebras with the dual Chevalley property. Furthermore, we show that each of its component is generated by a simple subcoalgebra, as a faithfully flat module (in fact, a projective generator) over a Hopf subalgebra which is the component containing the unit element. Our conclusions generalize some relevant results on pointed Hopf algebras, which were est…
We prove that every finite symmetric integral tensor category $\mathcal{C}$ with the Chevalley property over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p>2$ admits a symmetric fiber functor to $\text{sVec}$. This proves Ostrik's conjecture \cite[Conjecture 1.3]{o} in this case. Equivalently, we prove that there exists a unique finite supergroup scheme $\mathcal{G}$ over $k$ and a grouplike element $ε\in k[\mathcal{G}]$ of order $\le 2$, whose action by conjugation on $\mathcal{G}$ coincides with the parity automorphism of $\mathcal{G}$, such that $\mathcal{C}$ is symmetric tensor equ…
In the category of semisimple Hopf algebras the Hopf kernels introduced by Andruskiewitsch and Devoto in \cite{AD} coincide with kernels of representation as introduced in \cite{Bker}. Some new results concerning the normality of kernels are also presented. It is proven that the property for Hopf algebras to have all kernels normal Hopf subalgebras is a self dual property.
We associate to each infinite primitive Lie pseudogroup a Hopf algebra of `transverse symmetries', by refining a procedure due to Connes and the first author in the case of the general pseudogroup. The affiliated Hopf algebra can be viewed as a `quantum group' counterpart of the infinite-dimensional primitive Lie algebra of the pseudogroup. It is first constructed via its action on the étale groupoid associated to the pseudogroup, and then realized as a bicrossed product of a universal enveloping algebra by a Hopf algebra of regular functions on a formal group. The bicrossed product structure …
A fundamental problem in the theory of Hopf algebras is the classification and explicit construction of finite-dimensional quasitriangular Hopf algebras over C. These Hopf algebras constitute a very important class of Hopf algebras, introduced by Drinfeld (e.g. the quantum double of a Hopf algebra). However, this intriguing problem turns out to be extremely hard and it is still widely open. One can hope that resolving the problem in the triangular case would contribute to the understanding of the general case. There is no complte classification of finite-dimensional triangular Hopf algebras ye…
Let $H$ be a finite dimensional semisimple Hopf algebra and $R$ a braided Hopf algebra in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over $H$. When $R$ is a Calabi-Yau algebra, a necessary and sufficient condition for $R#H$ to be a Calabi-Yau Hopf algebra is given. Conversely, when $H$ is the group algebra of a finite group and the smash product $R#H$ is a Calabi-Yau algebra, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the algebra $R$ to be a Calabi-Yau algebra.
A vector species is a functor from the category of finite sets with bijections to vector spaces; informally, one can view this as a sequence of $S_n$-modules. A Hopf monoid (in the category of vector species) consists of a vector species with unit, counit, product, and coproduct morphisms satisfying several compatibility conditions, analogous to a graded Hopf algebra. We say that a Hopf monoid is strongly linearized if it has a "basis" preserved by its product and coproduct in a certain sense. We prove several equivalent characterizations of this property, and show that any strongly linearized…
We define two $(n+1)$ graded Lie brackets on spaces of multilinear mappings. The first one is able to recognize $n$-graded associative algebras and their modules and gives immediately the correct differential for Hochschild cohomology. The second one recognizes $n$-graded Lie algebra structures and their modules and gives rise to the notion of Chevalley cohomology.
We prove that a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra with the dual Chevalley Property over a field of characteristic zero is quasi-isomorphic to a Radford-Majid bosonization whenever the third Hochschild cohomology group in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules of its diagram with coefficients in the base field vanishes. Moreover we show that this vanishing occurs in meaningful examples where the diagram is a Nichols algebra.
In this paper, we study the Green ring and the stable Green ring of a Hopf algebra $H$ by means of bilinear forms. We show that the Green ring of a Hopf algebra of finite representation type is a Frobenius algebra over $\mathbb{Z}$ with a dual basis associated to almost split sequences. On the stable Green ring we define a new bilinear form which is more accurate to determine the bi-Frobenius property of the stable Green ring. We show that the complexified stable Green ring (or algebra) is a group-like algebra, and hence a bi-Frobenius algebra, if the bilinear form on the stable Green ring is …
We consider finite-dimensional Hopf algebras $u$ which admit a smooth deformation $U\to u$ by a Noetherian Hopf algebra $U$ of finite global dimension. Examples of such Hopf algebras include small quantum groups over the complex numbers, restricted enveloping algebras in finite characteristic, and Drinfeld doubles of height $1$ group schemes. We provide a means of analyzing (cohomological) support for representations over such $u$, via the singularity categories of the hypersurfaces $U/(f)$ associated to functions $f$ on the corresponding parametrization space. We use this hypersurface approac…
If H is a finite dimensional Hopf algebra, C. Cibils and M. Rosso found an algebra X having the property that Hopf bimodules over H^* coincide with left X-modules. We find two other algebras, Y and Z, having the same property; namely, Y is the "two-sided crossed product" H^*#(H\otimes H^{op})# H^{* op} and Z is the "diagonal crossed product" (H^*\otimes H^{*op})\bowtie (H\otimes H^{op}) (both concepts are due to F. Hausser and F. Nill). We also find explicit isomorphisms between the algebras X, Y, Z.
We find an analytic formulation of the notion of Hopf image, in terms of the associated idempotent state. More precisely, if $π:A\to M_n(\mathbb C)$ is a finite dimensional representation of a Hopf $C^*$-algebra, we prove that the idempotent state associated to its Hopf image $A'$ must be the convolution Cesàro limit of the linear functional $ϕ=tr\circπ$. We discuss then some consequences of this result, notably to inner linearity questions.
The notions of Galois and cleft extensions are generalized for coquasi-Hopf algebras. It is shown that such an extension over a coquasi-Hopf algebra is cleft if and only if it is Galois and has the normal basis property. A Schneider type theorem is proven for coquasi-Hopf algebras with bijective antipode. As an application, we generalize Schauenburg's bialgebroid construction for coquasi-Hopf algebras.
We investigate a Hopf algebra structure on the cotensor coalgebra associated to a Hopf bimodule algebra which contains universal version of Clifford algebras and quantum groups as examples. It is shown to be the bosonization of the quantum quasi-shuffle algebra built on the space of its right coinvariants. The universal property and a Rota-Baxter algebra structure are established on this new algebra.
We study the Calabi-Yau property of pointed Hopf algebra $U(\mc{D},\lmd)$ of finite Cartan type. It turns out that this class of pointed Hopf algebras constructed by N. Andruskiewitsch and H.-J. Schneider contains many Calabi-Yau Hopf algebras. To give concrete examples of new Calabi-Yau Hopf algebras, we classify the Calabi-Yau pointed Hopf algebras $U(\mc{D},\lmd)$ of dimension less than 5.
Quantum Clifford Algebras (QCA), i.e. Clifford Hopf gebras based on bilinear forms of arbitrary symmetry, are treated in a broad sense. Five alternative constructions of QCAs are exhibited. Grade free Hopf gebraic product formulas are derived for meet and join of Grassmann-Cayley algebras including co-meet and co-join for Grassmann-Cayley co-gebras which are very efficient and may be used in Robotics, left and right contractions, left and right co-contractions, Clifford and co-Clifford products, etc. The Chevalley deformation, using a Clifford map, arises as a special case. We discuss Hopf alg…
We consider an interesting class of braidings defined by a combinatorial property in an earlier paper. We show that it consists exactly of those braidings that come from certain Yetter-Drinfeld module structures over pointed Hopf algebras with abelian coradical. As a tool we define a reduced version of the FRT construction. For braidings induced by U_q(g)-modules the reduced FRT construction is calculated explicitly.
We define a family of Hopf algebra objects, $H$, in the braided category of $\mathbb{Z}_n$-modules (known as anyonic vector spaces), for which the property $ψ^2_{H\otimes H}=id_{H\otimes H}$ holds. We will show that these anyonic Hopf algebras are, in fact, the enveloping (Hopf) algebras of particular quantum Lie algebras, also with the property $ψ^2=id$. Then we compute the braided periodic Hopf cyclic cohomology of these Hopf algebras. For that, we will show the following fact: analogous to the non-super and the super case, the well known relation between the periodic Hopf cyclic cohomology …
We construct and prove a diagrammatic version of the Duflo isomorphism between the invariant subalgebra of the symmetric algebra of a Lie algebra and the center of the universal enveloping algebra. This version implies the original for metrized Lie algebras (Lie algebras with an invariant non-degenerate bilinear form). As an application of this isomorphism, we will compute the Kontsevich integral of the unknot and the Hopf link to all orders. At the core of the proof, we use an elementary property of the Hopf link which can be summarized by the equation ``1+1=2'' in abacus arithmetic: doubling…
The Calabi-Yau property of cocommutative Hopf algebras is discussed by using the homological integral, a recently introduced tool for studying infinite dimensional AS-Gorenstein Hopf algebras. It is shown that the skew-group algebra of a universal enveloping algebra of a finite dimensional Lie algebra $\g$ with a finite subgroup $G$ of automorphisms of $\g$ is Calabi-Yau if and only if the universal enveloping algebra itself is Calabi-Yau and $G$ is a subgroup of the special linear group $SL(\g)$. The Noetherian cocommutative Calabi-Yau Hopf algebras of dimension not larger than 3 are describe…
V. Ginzburg, and independently R. Bocklandt and L. Le Bruyn, defined an infinite-dimensional "necklace" Lie algebra canonically associated to any quiver. Following suggestions of V. Turaev, P. Etingof, and Ginzburg, we define a cobracket and prove that it defines a Lie bialgebra structure. We then present a Hopf algebra quantizing this Lie bialgebra, and prove that it is a Hopf algebra satisfying the PBW property. We present representations into spaces of differential operators on representations of the quiver, which quantize the trace representations of the Lie algebra given by Ginzburg.
In this paper, we prove that the quantum groups $G(A,B)$ introduced by Mrozinski and their Hopf-Galois objects are twisted Calabi-Yau algebras, and give their Nakayama automorphisms explicitly.
We investigate when a weak Hopf algebra H is Frobenius; we show this is not always true, but it is true if the semisimple base algebra A has all its matrix blocks of the same dimension. However, if A is a semisimple algebra not having this property, there is a weak Hopf algebra H with base A which is not Frobenius (and consequently, it is not Frobenius "over" A either). We give, moreover, a categorical counterpart of the result that a Hopf algebra is a Frobenius algebra for a noncoassociative generalization of weak Hopf algebra.
Let H be a Hopf algebra in a rigid braided monoidal category with split idempotents. We prove the existence of integrals on (in) H characterized by the universal property, employing results about Hopf modules, and show that their common target (source) object Int H is invertible. The fully braided version of Radford's formula for the fourth power of the antipode is obtained. Connections of integration with cross-product and transmutation are studied. The results apply to topological Hopf algebras, e.g. a torus with a hole, which do not have additive structure.
