Let $G = (V, E)$ be a graph. The first Zagreb index and the forgotten topological index of a graph $G$ are defined respectively as $\sum_{u \in V} d^2(u)$ and $\sum_{u \in V} d^3(u)$, where $d(u)$ is the degree of vertex $u$ in $G$. If the minimum degree of $G$ is at least one, the inverse degree of $G$ is defined as $\sum_{u \in V} \frac{1}{d(u)}$. In this paper, we, for a graph with minimum degree at least one, present an upper bound for the first Zagreb index of the graph and lower bounds for the forgotten topological index and the inverse degree of the graph. We also present sufficient conditions involving the first Zagreb index, the forgotten topological index, or the inverse degree for some Hamiltonian properties of a graph.
In this work we obtain new lower and upper optimal bounds of general Sombor indices. Specifically, we have inequalities for these indices relating them with other indices: the first Zagreb index, the forgotten index and the first variable Zagreb index. Finally, we solve some extremal problems for general Sombor indices.
Graph operations are crucial for building complicated network architectures from simple graphs. In [7], authors defined two new variants of Corona product and investigated some topological indices. In this paper, we extended the work and found the formulas of forgotten, first hyper Zagreb, and reduced second Zagreb indices for Corona join product and sub-division vertex join products of graphs.

The second Zagreb index is $M_2(G)=\sum_{uv\in E(G)}d_{G}(u)d_{G}(v)$. It was found to occur in certain approximate expressions of the total $π$-electron energy of alternant hydrocarbons and used by various researchers in their QSPR and QSAR studies. Recently the exponential of a vertex-degree-based topological index was introduced. It is known that among all trees with $n$ vertices, the exponential of the second Zagreb index $e^{M_2}$ attains its minimum value in the path $P_n$. In this paper, we show that $e^{M_2}$ attains its maximum value in the balanced double star with $n$ vertices and s…
For a connected graph $G$ on at least three vertices, the augmented Zagreb index (AZI) of $G$ is defined as $$AZI(G)=\sum_{uv\in E(G)}\left(\frac{d(u)d(v)}{d(u)+d(v)-2}\right)^{3},$$ being a topological index well-correlated with the formation heat of heptanes and octanes. A $k$-apex tree $G$ is a connected graph admitting a $k$-subset $X\subset V(G)$ such that $G-X$ is a tree, while $G-S$ is not a tree for any $S\subset V(G)$ of cardinality less than $k$. By investigating some structural properties of $k$-apex trees, we identify the graphs minimizing the AZI among all $k$-apex trees on $n$ ve…
For a graph $G$, the first multiplicative Zagreb index $\prod_1(G) $ is the product of squares of vertex degrees, and the second multiplicative Zagreb index $\prod_2(G) $ is the product of products of degrees of pairs of adjacent vertices. In this paper, we explore graphs with extremal $Π_{1}(G)$ and $Π_{2}(G)$ in terms of (edge) connectivity and pendant vertices. The corresponding extremal graphs are characterized with given connectivity at most $k$ and $p$ pendant vertices. In addition, the maximum and minimum values of $\prod_1(G) $ and $\prod_2(G) $ are provided. Our results extend and enr…
Let $D=(V,A)$ be a digraphs without isolated vertices. The first Zagreb index of a digraph $D$ defined as a summation over all arcs, $M_1(D)=\frac{1}{2}\sum\limits_{uv\in A}(d^{+}_{u}+d^{-}_v)$, where $d^{+}_u$(resp. $d^{-}_u$) denotes the out-degree (resp. in-degree) of the vertex $u$. In this paper, we give the maximal values and maximal digraphs of first Zagreb index over the set of all orientations of unicyclic graphs with $n$ vertices and matching number $m$ $(2\leq m\leq \lfloor \frac{n}{2}\rfloor)$.
The first Zagreb index $M_{1}$ of a graph is defined as the sum of the square of every vertex degree, and the second Zagreb index $M_{2}$ of a graph is defined as the sum of the product of vertex degrees of each pair of adjacent vertices. In this paper, we study the Zagreb indices of bipartite graphs of order $n$ with $κ(G)=k$ (resp. $κ'(G)=s$) and sharp upper bounds are obtained for $M_1(G)$ and $M_2(G)$ for $G\in \mathcal{V}^k_n$ (resp. $\mathcal{E}^s_n$), where $\mathcal{V}^k_n$ is the set of bipartite graphs of order $n$ with $κ(G)=k$, and $\mathcal{E}^s_n$ is the set of bipartite graphs o…

Let $G$ be a simple graph with order $n$ and size $m$. The quantity $M_1(G)=\displaystyle\sum_{i=1}^{n}d^2_{v_i}$ is called the first Zagreb index of $G$, where $d_{v_i}$ is the degree of vertex $v_i$, for all $i=1,2,\dots,n$. The signless Laplacian matrix of a graph $G$ is $Q(G)=D(G)+A(G)$, where $A(G)$ and $D(G)$ denote, respectively, the adjacency and the diagonal matrix of the vertex degrees of $G$. Let $q_1\geq q_2\geq \dots\geq q_n\geq 0$ be the signless Laplacian eigenvalues of $G$. The largest signless Laplacian eigenvalue $q_1$ is called the signless Laplacian spectral radius or $Q$-i…
The forgotten topological index of a graph $G$, denoted by $F(G)$, is defined as the sum of weights $d(u)^{2}+d(v)^{2}$ over all edges $uv$ of $G$ , where $d(u)$ denotes the degree of a vertex $u$. In this paper, we give sharp upper bounds of the F-index (forgotten topological index) over bicyclic graphs, in terms of the order and maximum degree.
Motivated by the recently introduced topological index, the Somber index, we define a new topological index of a graph in this paper, we call it Sombor coindex. The Sombor coindex is defined by considering analogous contributions from the pairs of non-adjacent vertices, capturing, thus, and quantifying a possible influence of remote pairs of vertices. We give several properties of the Somber coindex and its relations to the Sombor index, the Zagreb (co)indices, forgotten coindex and other important graph parameters. We also compute the bounds of the Somber coindex of some graph operations and …
In this paper we give new bounds for a several vertex-based and edge-based topological indices of graphs: Albertson irregularity index, degree variance index, Mostar and the first Zagreb index. Moreover, we give a new upper bound for the energy of graphs through IRB-index. Most of our results rely on a well-known characterization of the Laplacian spectral radius.
