We have investigated the performance of anisotropic flows $\langle v_n^2 \rangle$, transverse momentum fluctuations $\langle δp_T^2 \rangle $, and their correlations $\langle v_n^2 δp_T \rangle$ in central collisions at relativistic energies as probes of deformation parameters $β_n$ of colliding nuclei, if these nuclei are light nuclei with large $β_n$ and different configurations of $α$ clusters. The effects from higher-order $β_n$ terms are illustrated by derived relations based on the overlap of two nuclei with uniform density distributions and by dynamic simulations of collisions of heavy nuclei whose density distributions are of a deformed Woods-Saxon (WS) form. While the linear relations between $β^2_n$, $\langle v_n^2 \rangle$, and $\langle δp_T^2 \rangle$ and that between $β^3_n$ and $\langle v_n^2 δp_T \rangle$ can be violated for extremely large $β_{n}$, they are mostly valid for realistic values of $β_n$, as long as the density distribution of colliding nuclei can be described by a deformed WS form. However, these linear relations are generally not valid with more realistic density distributions of light nuclei with $α$ clusters, and the amount of deviation depends on the detailed $α$-cluster configurations. Care must be taken when one tries to extract the deformation of light nuclei, and specific probes for $α$-cluster structures in these nuclei are very much needed.
Based on the relativistic calculations of the nuclear masses in the transfermium region from No $(Z=102)$ to Ds $(Z=110)$ by the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum, the possible existence of the bound nuclei beyond the neutron drip lines is studied. The two-neutron and multi-neutron emission bound nuclei beyond the primary neutron drip line of $N=258$ are predicted in $Z=106,108$ and $110$ isotopes. Detailed microscopic mechanism investigation reveals that nuclear deformation plays a vital role in the existence of the bound nuclei beyond the drip line. Furthermore, no…
The development of nuclear shapes under the extreme conditions of high spin and/or temperature is examined. Scaling properties are used to demonstrate universal properties of both thermal expectation values of nuclear shapes as well as the minima of the free energy, which can be used to understand the Jacobi transition. A universal correlation between the width of the giant dipole resonance and quadrupole deformation is found, providing a novel probe to measure the nuclear deformation in hot nuclei.
It is known that nuclear deformation plays an important role in inducing the halo structure in neutron-rich nuclei by mixing several angular momentum components. While previous theoretical studies on this problem in the literature assume axially symmetric deformation, we here consider non-axially symmetric deformations. With triaxial deformation, the $Ω$ quantum number is admixed in a single-particle wave function, where $Ω$ is the projection of the single-particle angular momentum on the symmetric axis, and the halo structure may arise even when it is absent with the axially symmetric deforma…
A very good linear correlation is found between the four-point charge radius relation $δR_{2p-2n}(Z,N)$ with that of quadrupole deformation data in even-even nuclei. This results in a further improved charge radius relation that holds in a precision of about 5$\times 10^{-3}$ fm. Such correlations are also seen in global nuclear models, their precisions, however, are not enough to be consistent with the experimental data. The new relation between charge radii and deformation of even-even nuclei can be generalized to the reduced electric quadrupole transition probability $B(E2)$ between the fir…
Temperature dependent relativistic mean-field (RMF) plus BCS approach has been used for the first time to investigate the anti-bubble effect of the temperature and deformation in the light, medium-heavy and superheavy nuclei. Influence of temperature is studied on density distribution, charge form-factor, single particle (s.p.) energies, occupancy, deformation and the depletion fraction (DF). At T $=$ 0, the quenching effect of deformation is predominant. DF is found usually less in oblate deformation than in prolate. DF decreases with increasing prolate deformation even though the 2s-orbit is…
The process of nuclear multifragmentation has been implemented, together with evaporation and fission channels of the disintegration of excited remnants in nucleus-nucleus collisions using percolation theory and the intranuclear cascade model. Colliding nuclei are treated as face--centered--cubic lattices with nucleons occupying the nodes of the lattice. The site--bond percolation model is used. The code can be applied for calculation of the fragmentation of nuclei in spallation and multifragmentation reactions.
The ground states of some nuclei are described by densities and mean fields that are spherical, while others are deformed. The existence of non-spherical shape in nuclei represents a spontaneous symmetry breaking.
We study the effects of higher-order deformations $β_λ$ ($λ=4,6,8,$ and $10$) on the ground state properties of superheavy nuclei (SHN) near the doubly magic deformed nucleus $^{270}$Hs by using the multidimensionally-constrained (MDC) relativistic mean-field (RMF) model with five effective interactions PC-PK1, PK1, NL3$^{*}$, DD-ME2, and PKDD. The doubly magic properties of $^{270}$Hs are featured by the large energy gaps at $N=162$ and $Z=108$ in the single-particle spectra. By investigating the binding energies and single-particle levels of $^{270}$Hs in multidimensional deformation space, …
Preliminary data by the STAR collaboration at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider shows that the elliptic flow, $v_2$, and the average transverse momentum, $\langle p_t \rangle$, of final-state hadrons produced in high-multiplicity $^{238}$U+$^{238}$U collisions are negatively correlated. This observation brings experimental evidence of a significant prolate deformation, $β\approx 0.3$, in the colliding $^{238}$U nuclei. I show that a quantitative description of this new phenomenon can be achieved within the hydrodynamic framework of heavy-ion collisions, and that thus such kind of data in…
We investigate the influence of deformation on the possible occurrence of long-lived $K$ isomers in Hf isotopes around N=116, using configuration-constrained calculations of potential-energy surfaces. Despite having reduced shape elongation, the multi-quasiparticle states in $^{186,188}$Hf remain moderately robust against triaxial distortion, supporting the long expected occurrence of exceptionally long-lived isomers. The calculations are compared with available experimental data.
Angular-momentum-projected energy surface calculations for A~110 nuclei indicate three distinct energy minima occurring at different angular-momenta. These correspond to normal, super-, and hyper-deformed shapes coexisting in one nucleus. 110Pd is studied in detail, with a quantitative prediction on super- and hyper-deformed spectra by the Projected Shell Model calculation. It is suggested that several other neighboring nuclei in the A-110 mass region, with the neutron number around 64, also exhibit clear super- and hyper-deformation minima.
Evolution of quadrupole deformations in $sd$ and $pf$ shell nuclei with mass A= 18$\sim$56 is studied by using deformed Skyrme Hartree-Fock (HF) model with pairing correlations. We point out that the quadrupole deformations of the nuclei with the isospin T=0 and T=1 show strong mass number dependence as a clear manifestation of dynamical evolution of deformation in nuclear many-body systems. The competition between the deformation driving particle-vibration coupling and the closed shell structure is shown in a systematic study of the ratios between the proton and neutron deformations in nuclei…
This work establishes a deep connection between two seemingly distant branches of nuclear physics: nuclear structure and relativistic heavy-ion collisions. At the heart of this connection is the recent discovery made at particle colliders that the elliptic flow of outgoing hadrons in central nucleus-nucleus collisions is strongly impacted by the quadrupole deformation of the colliding nuclear species. I review the physics of the soft sector of relativistic heavy-ion collisions, and I explain that the interpretation of elliptic flow data in central $^{197}$Au+$^{197}$Au, $^{238}$U+$^{238}$U, an…
Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov solutions corresponding to the tetrahedral deformation are found in six tetrahedrally doubly-magic nuclei. Values of the beta32 deformation, depths of the tetrahedral minima, and their energies relative to the co-existing quadrupole minima are determined for several versions of the Skyrme force. Reduction of the tetrahedral deformation energies by pairing correlations is quantitatively analysed. In light nuclei, shallow tetrahedral minima are found to be the lowest in energy, while in heavy nuclei, the minima are deeper but appear at a few MeV of excitation.
By performing a fully three dimensional Hartree-Fock calculation with use of the Skyrm forces, we demonstrate possibility of exotic deformations violating both the reflection and the axial symmetries of N=Z nuclei in $A \sim 60-80$ mass region. The \Ytwo tetrahedral shape predicted in excited \Zr arises from a shell gap at $N,Z = 40$ which is enhanced for the tetrahedron deformation. Softness toward the \Ythree triangular deformation of the oblate state in \Se is also predicted.
The quantum deformation concept is applied to a study of isovector pairing correlations in nuclei of the mass 40<A<100 region. While the non-deformed (q -> 1) limit of the theory provides a reasonable global estimate for strength parameters of the pairing interaction, the results show that the q-deformation plays a significant role in understanding higher-order effects in the interaction.
The quantum deformation concept is applied to a study of pairing correlations in nuclei with mass 40<A<100. While the nondeformed limit of the theory provides a reasonable overall description of certain nuclear properties and fine structure effects, the results show that the q deformation plays a significant role in understanding higher-order effects in the many-body interaction.
Octupole deformed shapes in neutron-rich actinides and superheavy nuclei as well as extremely deformed shapes of the N~Z light nuclei have been investigated within the framework of covariant density functional theory. We confirmed the presence of new region of octupole deformation in neutron-rich actinides with the center around Z~96, N~196 but our calculations do not predict octupole deformation in the ground states of superheavy Z~108 nuclei. As exemplified by the study of 36Ar, the nodal structure of the wavefunction of occupied single-particle orbitals in extremely deformed structures allo…

We discuss the role of the broken symmetries in the connection of the shell, collective and cluster models. The cluster-shell competition is described in terms of cold quantum phases. Stable quasi-dynamical U(3) symmetry is found for specific large deformations for a Nilsson-type Hamiltonian.
We study static non-axial octupole deformations in proton-rich $Z=N$ nuclei, $^{64}$Ge, $^{68}$Se, $^{72}$Kr, $^{76}$Sr, $^{80}$Zr and $^{84}$Mo, by using the Skyrme Hartree-Fock plus BCS calculation with no restrictions on the nuclear shape. The calculation predicts that the oblate ground state in $^{68}$Se is extremely soft for the $Y_{33}$ triangular deformation, and that in $^{80}$Zr the low-lying local minimum state coexisting with the prolate ground state has the $Y_{32}$ tetrahedral deformation.
I show that particle collider experiments on relativistic nuclear collisions can serve as direct probes of the deformation of the colliding nuclear species. I argue that collision events presenting very large multiplicities of particles and very small values of the average transverse momentum of the emitted hadrons probe collision geometries in which the nuclear ellipsoids fully overlap along their longer side. By looking at these events one selects interaction regions whose elliptic anisotropy is determined by the deformed nuclear shape, which becomes accessible experimentally through the mea…
We have performed self-consistent Skyrme Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov calculations for nuclei close to $^{254}$No. Self-consistent deformations, including $β_{2,4,6,8}$ as functions of the rotational frequency, were determined for even-even nuclei $^{246,248,250}$Fm, $^{252,254}$No, and $^{256}$Rf. The quasiparticle spectra for N=151 isotones and Z=99 isotopes were calculated and compared with experimental data and the results of Woods-Saxon calculations. We found that our calculations give high-order deformations similar to those obtained for the Woods-Saxon potential, and that the experimental qu…
We study weakly-bound deformed nuclei based on the coordinate-space Skyrme Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approach, in which a large box is employed for treating the continuum and surface diffuseness. Approaching the limit of core-halo deformation decoupling, calculations found an exotic "egg"-like structure consisting of a spherical core plus a prolate halo in $^{38}$Ne, in which the resonant continuum plays an essential role. Generally the halo probability and the decoupling effect in heavy nuclei are reduced compared to light nuclei, due to denser level densities around Fermi surfaces. However, de…
A model combining self-consistent mean-field and shell-model techniques is used to study the competition between particle like and proton-neutron pairing correlations in fp-shell even-even self-conjugate nuclei. Results obtained using constant two-body pairing interactions as well as more sophisticated interactions are presented and discussed. The standard BCS calculations are systematically compared with more refined approaches including correlation effects beyond the independent quasi-particle approach. The competition between proton-neutron correlations in the isoscalar and isovector channe…
Relativistic mean field calculations suggest that the charge and matter deformations significantly differ in some of the unstable neutron and proton rich nuclei. We discuss the effects of the difference on the fusion reactions induced by them at energies near and below the Coulomb barrier by taking the $^{19,25,37}$Na + $^{208}$Pb reactions as examples. We also discuss whether one can probe the difference by the so called fusion barrier distribution analysis.
A systematic search for axial octupole deformation in the actinides and superheavy nuclei with proton numbers $Z=88-126$ and neutron numbers from two-proton drip line up to $N=210$ has been performed in covariant density functional theory (DFT) using four state-of-the-art covariant energy density functionals representing different model classes. The nuclei in the $Z\sim 96, N\sim 196$ region of octupole deformation have been investigated in detail and the systematic uncertainties in the description of their observables have been quantified. Similar region of octupole deformation exists also in…
Elastic electron scattering from oriented odd-Aaxially deformed nuclei is studied in the plane-wave Born approximation. The nuclear structure is described within a microscopic selfconsistent Skyrme deformed Hartree-Fock approximation with pairing correlations. The interference form factors between monopole and quadrupole Coulomb terms that characterize the nuclear response with aligned nuclear targets are shown to increase or decrease the unpolarized cross-section, depending on the sign of the quadrupole deformation. This feature provides valuable information on the nuclear deformation that ca…
Recent experimental data have demonstrated that $^{76}$Ge may be a rare example of a nucleus exhibiting rigid $γ$-deformation in the low-spin regime. In the present work, the experimental analysis is supported by microscopic calculations using the multi-quasiparticle triaxial projected shell model (TPSM) approach. It is shown that to best describe the data of both yrast and $γ$-vibrational bands in $^{76}$Ge, a rigid-triaxial deformation parameter $γ\approx 30^\circ$ is required. TPSM calculations are discussed in conjunction with the experimental observations and also with the published resul…
We discuss the role of pairing anti-halo effect in the observed odd-even staggering in reaction cross sections for $^{30,31,32}$Ne and $^{36,37,38}$Mg isotopes by taking into account the ground state deformation of these nuclei. To this end, we construct the ground state density for the $^{30,31}$Ne and $^{36,37}$Mg nuclei based on a deformed Woods-Saxon potential, while for the $^{32}$Ne and $^{38}$Mg nuclei we also take into account the pairing correlation using the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov method. We demonstrate that, when the one-neutron separation energy is small for the odd-mass nuclei, a…
The microscopic center-of-mass (c.m.) correction energies for nuclei ranging from Oxygen to Calcium are systematically calculated by both spherical and axially deformed relativistic mean-field (RMF) models with the effective interaction PK1. The microscopic c.m. correction energies strongly depend on the isospin as well as deformation and deviate from the phenomenological ones. The deformation effect is discussed in detail by comparing the deformed with the spherical RMF calculation. It is found that the direct and exchange terms of the c.m. correction energies are strongly correlated with the…
Mass number dependence of the nuclear radii is closely related to the nuclear matter properties. It is known that the most of nuclei exhibit some deformation. We discuss how the nuclear density profile is modified by the nuclear deformation to elucidate the enhancement mechanism of the nuclear radii through a systematic investigation of neutron-rich Ne, Mg, Si, S, Ar, Ti, Cr, and Fe isotopes. Skyrme-Hartree-Fock calculations are performed in a three-dimensional Cartesian grid to describe the nuclear deformation in a non-empirical way. The role of the nuclear deformation on the nuclear density …
High spin states of ^{32}S$ and ^{56}Ni are investigated by means of the cranking Hartree-Fock method with the Gogny interaction without imposing a restriction on the axial reflection symmetry. It was found that a non-axial octupole deformation of the Y_{31} type becomes important in the yrast states of ^{32}S. A similar effect is predicted for the nucleus ^{56}Ni.
Structures of $p$- and $sd$-shell nuclei are studied with the deformed-basis antisymmetrized molecular dynamics method using the Gogny D1S and Skyrme SLy7 forces as effective interactions. By the energy variation with a constraint, energy curves as functions of quadrupole deformation parameter $β$ are obtained. The energy curves for $sd$-shell nuclei show structure change as a function of $β$, and suggest shape coexistence. Nuclear structures in the deformed region are discussed focusing on deformations and clustering. It is found that the deformations often involve cluster structures. Effecti…
The systematic study of isoscalar (IS) and isovector (IV) giant quadrupole responses (GQR) in normal and superfluid nuclei presented in [G. Scamps and D. Lacroix, Phys. Rev. 88, 044310 (2013)] is extended to the case of axially deformed and triaxial nuclei. The static and dynamical energy density functional based on Skyrme effective interaction are used to study static properties and dynamical response functions over the whole nuclear chart. Among the 749 nuclei that are considered, 301 and 65 are respectively found to be prolate and oblate while 54 do not present any symmetry axis. For these …
What is the origin of nuclear clustering and how does it emerge from the nuclear interaction? While there is ample experimental evidence for this phenomenon, its theoretical characterization directly from nucleons as degrees of freedom remains a challenge, making it difficult to improve nuclear forces using clustering observables. In this work, a simple ratio of energies based on effective scale arguments is proposed to assess the quality of nuclear forces on alpha clustering (${ {}^{4}\text{He} }$) in bound and narrow ground-state nuclei. The proposed clustering ratio is parameter-free and co…
We apply the No-Core Shell Model with Continuum (NCSMC) that is capable of describing both bound and unbound states in light nuclei in a unified way with chiral two- and three-nucleon interactions as the only input. The NCSMC can predict structure and dynamics of light nuclei and, by comparing to available experimental data, test the quality of chiral nuclear forces. We discuss applications of NCSMC to the $α{-}α$ scattering and the structure of $^8$Be, the p+$^7$Be and p+$^7$Li radiative capture and the production of the hypothetical X17 boson claimed in ATOMKI experiments. The $^7$Be(p,$γ$)$…
Ground-state moments of inertia (MoI) are investigated for about 1700 even-even nuclei from the proton drip line to the neutron drip line up to $Z=120$ and $N=184$. The cranked Skyrme-Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov equation is solved in the coordinate space. This model describes well the available experimental data of more than 300 nuclides possessing an appreciable deformation. I find that the MoI greatly increase near the drip line whereas the deformation is not as strong as estimated by the empirical relation. Systematic measurements of the excitation energy and the transition probability to the f…
We perform the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) calculations for ground states of even Mg isotopes using the Skyrme force and a density-dependent zero-range pairing force. The HFB equation is solved in a three-dimensional cartesian mesh, and a convergence of deformation is carefully examined with respect to a cut-off radius for a check of the calculations. We discuss systematics of the two-neutron separation energy, deformation and root-mean-square radius. We have found that 36,38,40Mg have appreciable static deformation, where 40Mg is a two-neutron drip-line nucleus in our calculation, and the d…
The deformations of multi-$\la$ hypernuclei corresponding to even-even core nuclei ranging from $^8$Be to $^{40}$Ca with 2, 4, 6, and 8 hyperons are studied in the framework of the deformed Skyrme-Hartree-Fock approach. It is found that the deformations are reduced when adding 2 or 8 $\la$ hyperons, but enhanced when adding 4 or 6 $\la$ hyperons. These differences are attributed to the fact that $\la$ hyperons are filled gradually into the three deformed $p$ orbits, of which the [110]1/2$^-$ orbit is prolately deformed and the degenerate [101]1/2$^-$ and [101]3/2$^-$ orbits are oblately deform…
An analysis of the $^{231}$Pa$(d,3n)$$^{230}$U reaction excitation function at energies around the Coulomb barrier has taken into account the pre-equilibrium and compound-nucleus cross sections corrected for the deuteron-breakup decrease of the total reaction cross section, as well as the inelastic breakup enhancement. The analysis reveals the dominance of the deuteron breakup mechanism unlike a former assessment in this respect of the deuteron-induced fission process.
Adjustment of the behavior of the potential energy of nuclear deformation, defined as the sum of the energies of lowest-lying occupied single-particle levels in a deformed finite potential with a pairing correction, is considered by taking into account the dependence of the diffuseness of the surface of the potential on deformation. To verify this approach we construct a non-axial ellipsoidally-deformed potential with a slight (of the order of 1\%) variation of the surface diffuseness at moderate deformations. Parameters of the variation are determined from a calculation for a group of 36 defo…
The possible existence of stable axial octupole and tetrahedral deformations is investigated in $^{80}$Zr and $^{98}$Zr. HFBCS calculations with parity projection have been performed for various parametrizations of the Skyrme energy functional. The correlation and excitation energies of negative parity states associated with shape fluctuations have been obtained using the generator coordinate method (GCM). The results indicate that in these nuclei both the axial octupole and tetrahedral deformations are of dynamic character and possess similar characteristics. Various Skyrme forces give consis…
The n,p-networks model is used to estimate binding energies and radii of proton-rich (N < Z) nuclei. These calculations have been made for some representative examples of even-Z and odd-Z nuclei with nucleon numbers lower than sixty. Good agreement is found in the comparison of these results with experimental data.
The structure of finite nuclei is investigated by employing an interaction model which is based on the low-momentum interaction $V_{lowk}$. It is supplemented by a density-dependent contact interaction fitted to reproduce the saturation properties of infinite nuclear matter within the Hartree-Fock approach. The calculations of finite nuclei are performed in a basis of plane waves discretized in a cartesian box of appropriate size. As a first example the structure of Ne isotopes is considered ranging from $^{18}$Ne to the neutron drip line. Rather good agreement is obtained for the bulk propert…
A formula for the relationship between the $α$-decay energies ($Q$ values) of superheavy nuclei (SHN) is presented, which is composed of the effects of Coulomb energy and symmetry energy. It can be employed not only to validate the experimental observations and measurements to a large extent, but also to predict the $Q$ values of heaviest SHN with a high accuracy generally which will be very useful for future experiments. Furthermore, the shell closures in superheavy region and the effect of the symmetry energy on the stability of SHN against $α$-decay are discussed with the help of this formu…
Above-barrier fusion cross-sections for an isotopic chain of oxygen isotopes with A=16-19 incident on a $^{12}$C target are presented. Experimental data are compared with both static and dynamical microscopic calculations. These calculations are unable to explain the $\sim$37\% increase in the average above-barrier fusion cross-section observed for $^{19}$O as compared to $β$-stable oxygen isotopes. This result suggests that for neutron-rich nuclei existing time-dependent Hartree-Fock calculations underpredict the role of dynamics at near-barrier energies. High-quality measurement of above-bar…
The statistical fluctuations of the ground-state energy and of the binding energy of nuclei are investigated using both perturbation theory and supersymmetry. The fluctuations are induced by the experimentally observed stochastic behavior of levels in the vicinity of neutron threshold. The results are compared with a recent analysis of binding-energy fluctuations by Bohigas and Leboeuf, and with theoretical work by Feshbach et al.
The deformation of a nucleon embedded in various finite nuclei is considered by taking into account the distortion of the chiral profile functions under the action of an external field representing the nuclear density. The baryon charge distribution of the nucleon inside light, medium-heavy and heavy nuclei is discussed. The mass of the nucleon decreases as it is placed deeper inside the nucleus and reaches its minimum at the center of the nucleus. We discuss the quantization of non-spherical solitons and its consequences for the mass splitting of the delta states. We show that bound nucleons …
A nuclear model is extended to estimate binding energies and radii of neutron-rich nuclei. These calculations have been made for some representative examples of even-Z and odd-Z nuclei with nucleon numbers lower than sixty. A comparison of results with experimental data supports the value and development of the model in nuclear studies.
We introduce a local-scaling point transformation to allow for modifying the asymptotic properties of the deformed three-dimensional Cartesian harmonic oscillator wave functions. The resulting single-particle bases are very well suited for solving the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov equations for deformed drip-line nuclei. We then present results of self-consistent calculations performed for the Mg isotopes and for light nuclei located near the two-neutron drip line. The results suggest that for all even-even elements with $Z$=10--18 the most weakly-bound nucleus has an oblate ground-state shape.
Fragmentation reactions induced on light target nuclei by protons and light nuclei of energies around 1 GeV/nucleon and below are studied with the latest Los Alamos Monte Carlo transport code MCNP6 and with its cascade-exciton model (CEM) and Los Alamos version of the quark-gluon string model (LAQGSM) event generators, version 03.03, used as stand-alone codes. Such reactions are involved in different applications, like cosmic-ray-induced single event upsets (SEU's), radiation protection, and cancer therapy with proton and ion beams, among others; therefore, it is important that MCNP6 simulates…
The influence of triaxial deformation $γ$ on the purely collective form of wobbling motion in even-even nuclei are discussed based on the triaxial rotor model. It is found that the harmonic approximation is realized well when $γ=30^{\circ}$ for the properties of energy spectra and electric quadrupole transition probabilities, while this approximation gets bad when $γ$ deviates from $30^{\circ}$. A recent data from Coulomb excitation experiment, namely $3_1^+$ and $2_2^+$ for the $^{110}$Ru are studied and might be suggested as the bandhead of the wobbling bands. In addition, two types of angul…
Within the collective Bohr Hamiltonian, the adoption of a mass tensor as a function of collective coordinates has demonstrated its importance for describing the structure of nuclei. On the other hand, for odd-mass nuclei, the Coriolis interaction between the rotational and single-particle motions affects significantly the structure of nuclear excited states. In the framework of a recently developed extended Bohr Hamiltonian, by considering the Deformation-Dependent Mass Formalism whith different mass parameters for the rotation and the two \betha and γvibrations and taking into account the Cor…
For the first time the potential energy surfaces of actinide nuclei in the $(β_{20}, β_{22}, β_{30})$ deformation space are obtained from a multi-dimensional constrained covariant density functional theory. With this newly developed theory we are able to explore the importance of the triaxial and octupole shapes simultaneously along the whole fission path. It is found that besides the octupole deformation, the triaxiality also plays an important role upon the second fission barriers. The outer barrier as well as the inner barrier are lowered by the triaxial deformation compared with axially sy…
