英文摘要:
In these proceedings, we extend the discussion of the pion PDF obtained by NLO QCD analysis in the Fantômas4QCD framework. Our pion analysis uses a state-of-the-art statistical methodology that accounts for the epistemic uncertainty. Fantômas4QCD, designed to handle multiple functional forms for solving the inverse problem, systematically explores a variety of solutions for PDFs, thereby improving estimates of epistemic uncertainty. Through this novel approach, we interpret our results for the valence sector, considering various non-perturbative methods available for predicting the pion PDF. We emphasize the distinctions between (global) QCD analyses and QFT-based calculations.
The HERA luminosity upgrade is expected to provide statistically significant measurements of the proton structure functions at 0.5<x<0.7 and very high Q2 (Q2>>M_{Z}^2). The behaviour of the parton densities (PDFs) in this high x, Q2 regime is predicted from DGLAP evolution of PDF parametrizations from lower Q2 fits of the data. Uncertainties in the PDFs at high x may propagate to lower x through DGLAP evolution at very high Q2. In this presentation the behaviour of the PDFs at high x is reexamined with different parametrizations that have been tried earlier, and with somewhat different constra…
A "meta-analysis" is a method for comparison and combination of nonperturbative parton distribution functions (PDFs) in a nucleon obtained with heterogeneous procedures and assumptions. Each input parton distribution set is converted into a "meta-parametrization" based on a common functional form. By analyzing parameters of the meta-parametrizations from all input PDF ensembles, a combined PDF ensemble can be produced that has a smaller total number of PDF member sets than the original ensembles. The meta-parametrizations simplify the computation of the PDF uncertainty in theoretical predictio…
We introduce a new parametrization for the parton distribution functions (PDFs) designed to be flexible in the small-x region. We implement it in the xFitter open-source PDF fitting tool, and compare it to the default xFitter parametrization, widely used for many PDF studies, and notably for the HERAPDF determination. We find that we can describe the combined inclusive HERA I+II data using NNLO theory with a significantly higher quality than HERAPDF2.0: the $χ^2$ is reduced by more than 60 units, having used only four more parameters. Our result highlights a significant parametrization bias in…
A new parametrization for the parton distribution functions with a higher flexibility in the small-$x$ region is presented. It has been implemented in the xFitter open-source PDF fitting tool, and compared to the default xFitter parametrization, used for the determination of the HERAPDF set. It has been found that the combined inclusive HERA I+II data can be described using NNLO theory with a significantly higher quality than HERAPDF2.0: the $χ^2$ is reduced by more than 60 units, having used only four more parameters. We previously investigated the compatibility of the $Kimber$-$Martin$-$Ryskin$ ($KMR$) $unintegrated$ parton distribution functions ($UPDF$) with the experimental data on the proton (longitudinal) structure functions ($PSF$ ($PLSF$)). Recently $Golec-Biernat$ and $Stasto$ ($GBS$) demonstrated that the differential version of $KMR$ prescription and the implementations of angular (strong) ordering ($AOC$ ($SOC$)) constraints, cause the negative-discontinuous $UPDF$ with the ordinary parton distribution functions ($PDF$) as the input, which leads to a sizable effect on the calculation of $PSF$. I…
It is shown that charged hadron multiplicity distributions in restricted (pseudo)rapidity intervals in e+e- annihilation and in e+p scattering at HERA are quite well described by the modified negative binomial distribution and its simple extension.
We describe the impact on PDF extractions of the 'Physical Scheme', a heavy-quark mass scheme that accounts for the effects of intrinsic heavy-quarks and provides a way to smoothly transition over the heavy-quark thresholds. The modifications made to the conventional $\overline{\text{MS}}$ scheme splitting functions and $α_s$ running will be emphasised, collectively giving rise to a new Physical Scheme PDF evolution. We also present the analytic formulae for the DIS coefficient functions at NLO in the Physical Scheme and show results for the $F_2$ charm DIS structure function. Motivated by the…
We present a parametrization of the supersymmetric standard model without R-parity that permits efficient phenomenological analyses of the full model without a priori assumptions. Under the parametrization, which is characterized by a single vacuum expectation value for the scalar components of the Y=-1/2 superfields, the expressions for tree-level mass matrices are quite simple. They do not involve the trilinear R-parity violating couplings; however, the bilinear μ_i terms do enter and cannot be set to zero without additional assumptions. We set up a framework for doing phenomenology and show…
In this paper we study a parametrized description of neutrino mixing from a phenomenological point of view. We concentrate on the parametrization in terms of higher order corrections to the leading order mixing matrix. A method to describe subleading contributions and its applications to tri-bimaximal mixing are discussed. We show that mixing matrices similar to tri-bimaximal-Cabibbo mixing can be obtained by straightforward choices of parameters. To achieve better agreement with the experimental data without increasing the number of free parameters, we impose a simple phenomenological relatio…
We assess the current phenomenological status of transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions (PDFs) and fragmentation functions (FFs) and study the effect of consistently including perturbative QCD (pQCD) evolution. Our goal is to initiate the process of establishing reliable, QCD-evolved parametrizations for the TMD PDFs and TMD FFs that can be used both to test TMD-factorization and to search for evidence of the breakdown of TMD-factorization that is expected for certain processes. In this article, we focus on spin-independent processes because they provide the simplest…
We propose a parametrization of the leading $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitude (LCDA) in heavy-quark effective theory (HQET). In position space, it uses a conformal transformation that yields a systematic Taylor expansion and an integral bound, which enables control of the truncation error. Our parametrization further produces compact analytical expressions for a variety of derived quantities. At a given reference scale, our momentum-space parametrization corresponds to an expansion in associated Laguerre polynomials, which turn into confluent hypergeometric functions ${}_1F_1$ under …
Focusing on hadron scattering at large partonic momentum fractions $x$, we compare nonperturbative QCD predictions for the asymptotic behavior of DIS structure functions and parton distribution functions (PDFs) to the $x$ and $Q$ dependence of phenomenological PDFs. In the CT18 NNLO global QCD analysis, higher-order radiative contributions and functional mimicry of PDF parametrizations result in about one unit of uncertainty in the effective powers of $(1-x)$ falloff of nucleon PDFs. Similar uncertainties are present in the case of the pion PDF, an object of growing interest in phenomenology.
The longitudinal proton structure function, $F_L(x,Q^2)$, from the $k_t$ factorization formalism by using the unintegrated parton distribution functions (UPDF) which are generated through the KMR and MRW procedures. The LO UPDF of the KMR prescription is extracted, by taking into account the PDF of Martin et al, i.e. MSTW2008-LO and MRST99-NLO and next, the NLO UPDF of the MRW scheme is generated through the set of MSTW2008-NLO PDF as the inputs. The different aspects of $F_L(x,Q^2)$ in the two approaches, as well as its perturbative and non-perturbative parts are calculated. Then the comparis…
The phenomenological description of the neutral B meson system is proposed in terms of the fundamental CP-violating observables and within a rephasing invariant formalism. This generic formalism can select the time-dependent and time-integrated asymmetries which provide the basic tools to discriminate the different kinds of possible CP-violating effects in dedicated experimental B-meson facilities.
An analysis of Wolfenstein parametrization for the Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix shows that it has a serious flaw: it depends on {\em three} independent parameters instead of {\em four} as it should be. Because this approximation is currently used in phenomenological analyzes from the quark sector, the reliability of almost all phenomenological results is called in question. Such an example is the latest PDG fit from \cite{CA}, p. 150. The parametrization cannot be fixed since even when it is brought to an exact form it has the same flaw and its use lead to many inconsistencies.
We present a phenomenological unpolarized Parton Distribution Functions for diquarks based on a soft-wall light front AdS/QCD quark-diquark nucleon model. From a probed model consistent with the Drewll-Yan-West relation and quark counting rule, we have performed a fit of some free parameters using known phenomenological quark PDF data. The model considers the entire set of possible diquarks within the nucleon valence, in the present work we focus on the spin-0 $ud_0$, spin-1 $ud_1$ and spin-1 $uu_1$ diquarks into the valence of protons. The diquark PDFs obtained are able to used in proton-prot…
Plausible phenomenological consequences of the well-known Pisano-Pleitez- Frampton 3-3-1 model - such as the neutrino masses - are analyzed within the solution provided by the exact algebraical approach - proposed several years ago by Cotaescu - for gauge models with high symmetries. We prove that a suitable parametrisation in the Higgs sector and a redefinition of the three scalar triplets involved therein can lead to realistic predictions for the lepton mass spectrum, while a minimal number of coupling parameters are employed in the Yukawa sector.
We formulate a general approach to the inclusion of theoretical uncertainties, specifically those related to the missing higher order uncertainty (MHOU), in the determination of parton distribution functions (PDFs). We demonstrate how, under quite generic assumptions, theory uncertainties can be included as an extra contribution to the covariance matrix when determining PDFs from data. We then review, clarify, and systematize the use of renormalization and factorization scale variations as a means to estimate MHOUs consistently in deep inelastic and hadronic processes. We define a set of presc…
We present the MCscales approach for incorporating scale uncertainties in parton distribution functions (PDFs). The new methodology builds on the Monte Carlo sampling for propagating experimental uncertainties into the PDF space that underlies the NNPDF approach, but it extends it to the space of factorisation and renomalisation scales. A prior probability is assigned to each scale combinations set in the theoretical predictions used to obtain each PDF replica in the Monte Carlo ensemble and a posterior probability is obtained by selecting replicas that satisfy fit-quality criteria. Our approa…
We point out a problem of the phenomenological definition of the valence partons as the difference between the partons and antipartons in the context of the NNLO evolution equations. After demonstrating that the classification of the parton degrees of freedom (PDF) of the parton distribution functions (PDFs) are the same in the QCD path-intergral formulations of the hadronic tensor and the quasi-PDF with LaMET, we resolve the problem by showing that the proper definition of the valence should be in terms of those in the connected insertions only. We also prove that the strange partons appear a…
In this paper, the parametrization of the nuclear structure function which is directly constrained by the dynamics of QCD in its high-energy limit is considered. This simple parameterization of the nuclear structure function is obtained from the proton experimental data by relying on a Froissart-bounded parametrization of the proton structure function. This phenomenological model describes high-energy QCD in the presence of saturation effects. Numerical calculations and comparison with available data from NMC, EMC and E665 Collaborations demonstrate that the suggested method by N.Armesto, C.A.…
The Two Higgs Doublet model and its phenomenological implications are discussed. A brief survey on the present status of this model is given. In particular, we concentrate on the Two Higgs Doublet Model with Flavor Changing Neutral Currents. First, we develop some new parametrizations of the 2HDM type III, in such a way that the relation of it with models type I and type II become apparent. Based on this parametrization we get some bounds on the mixing vertex involving the second and third lepton generations, and lower bounds on the mass of the pseudoscalar Higgs boson. Further, by using a par…
All the leading-twist parton distribution functions are calculated in a spectator model of the nucleon, using scalar and axial-vector diquarks. Single gluon rescattering is used to generate T-odd distribution functions. Different choices for the diquark polarization states are considered, as well as a few options for the form factor at the nucleon-quark-diquark vertex. The results are listed in analytic form and interpreted in terms of light-cone wave functions. The model parameters are fixed by reproducing the phenomenological parametrization of unpolarized and helicity parton distributions a…
We propose a parametrization for intepreting some of the presently available data of the $B^{\pm} \to K^{\pm} p {\bar p}$ decay, in particular those by LHCb and Belle collaborations. The model is inspired by the well-known current and transition contributions, usually assumed in this kind of decay. However, in the light of considerations about the dominant graphs and about final state interactions, we modify some parameters of the model, determining them by means of a best fit to data. We show the results, which we discuss in some detail. Moreover we give some predictions on other observables …
We present phenomenological predictions at NNLO QCD and NLO EW accuracy for $t \bar t$ distributions at the LHC (8 and 13 TeV). We discuss the impact of the electroweak corrections and quantify the theory errors from scale and PDF uncertainties. Moreover, we show the relevance of a precise determination of the photon PDF for $t \bar t$ distributions.
Updated predictions are presented for high energy neutrino and antineutrino charged and neutral current cross-sections within the conventional DGLAP formalism of NLO QCD using modern PDF fits. PDF uncertainties from model assumptions and parametrization bias are considered in addition to the experimental uncertainties. Particular attention is paid to assumptions and biases which could signal the need for extension of the conventional formalism to include effects such as ln(1/x) resummation or non-linear effects of high gluon density.
We review recent progress in the determination of the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton, with emphasis on the applications for precision phenomenology at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). First of all, we introduce the general theoretical framework underlying the global QCD analysis of the quark and gluon internal structure of protons. We then present a detailed overview of the hard-scattering measurements, and the corresponding theory predictions, that are used in state-of-the-art PDF fits. We emphasize here the role that higher-order QCD and electroweak corrections play in th…
We review various methods used to estimate uncertainties in quantum correlation functions, such as parton distribution functions (PDFs). Using a toy model of a PDF, we compare the uncertainty estimates yielded by the traditional Hessian and data resampling methods, as well as from explicitly Bayesian analyses using nested sampling or hybrid Markov chain Monte Carlo techniques. We investigate how uncertainty bands derived from neural network approaches depend on details of the network training, and how they compare to the uncertainties obtained from more traditional methods with a specific unde…
Recently, two photon PDF sets based on implementations of the LUX ansatz into the CT18 global analysis were released. In CT18lux, the photon PDF is calculated directly using the LUX master formula for all scales, $μ$. In an alternative realization, CT18qed, the photon PDF is initialized at the starting scale, $μ_0$, using the LUX formulation and evolved to higher scales $μ(>μ_0)$ with a combined QED+QCD kernel at $\mathcal{O}(α),~\mathcal{O}(αα_s)$ and $\mathcal{O}(α^2)$. In the small-$x$ region, the photon PDF uncertainty is mainly induced by the quark and gluon PDFs, through the perturbative…
We review a phenomenological parametrization of an open quantum-mechanical formalism for CPT violation in the neutral kaon system, and constrain the parameters using fits to recent CPLEAR data.
We present a lattice-QCD calculation of the unpolarized isovector parton distribution function (PDF) using ensembles at the physical pion mass with large proton boost momenta $P_z \in \{2.2,2.6,3.0\}$~GeV within the framework of large-momentum effective theory (LaMET). In contrast to our previous physical-pion PDF result, we increase the statistics significantly, double the boost momentum, increase the investment in excited-state contamination systematics, and switch to $γ_t$ operator to avoid mixing with scalar matrix elements. We use four source-sink separations in our analysis to control th…
We present a detailed Lattice QCD study of the unpolarized isovector quark Parton Distribution Function (PDF) using large-momentum effective theory framework. We choose a quasi-PDF defined by a spatial correlator which is free from mixing with other operators of the same dimension. In the lattice simulation, we use a Gaussian-momentum-smeared source at $M_π=356$ MeV and $P_z \in \{1.8,2.3\}$ GeV. To control the systematics associated with the excited states, we explore {five different source-sink separations}. The nonperturbative renormalization is conducted in a regularization-independent mom…
We extract pion parton distribution functions (PDFs) in a Monte Carlo global QCD analysis of experimental data together with reduced Ioffe time pseudo-distributions and matrix elements of current-current correlators generated from lattice QCD. By including both experimental and lattice QCD data, our analysis rigorously quantifies both the uncertainties of the pion PDFs and systematic effects intrinsic to the lattice QCD observables. The reduced Ioffe time pseudo-distributions significantly decrease the uncertainties on the PDFs, while the current-current correlators are limited by the systemat…
We present a lattice QCD study of valence parton distribution inside the pion within the framework of Large Momentum Effective Theory. We use a mixed action approach with 1-HYP smeared valence Wilson clover quarks on 2+1 flavor HISQ sea with the valence quark mass tuned to 300 MeV pion mass. We use $48^3 \times 64$ lattice at a fine lattice spacing $a=0.06$ fm for this computation. We renormalize the quasi-PDF matrix element in the non-perturbative RI-MOM scheme. As a byproduct, we test the validity of 1-loop matching procedure by comparing the RI-MOM renormalized quasi-PDF matrix element with…
