For $d\geq 2$, we discuss $d$-dimensional complex manifolds $M$ that are the increasing union of bounded open sets $M_n$'s of $\mathbb{C}^d$ with a common uniform squeezing constant. The description of $M$ is given in terms of the corank of the infinitesimal Kobayashi metric of $M$, which is shown to be identically constant on $M$. The main result of this article says that if $M$ has full Kobayashi corank, then $M$ can be written as an increasing union of the unit ball; if $M$ has zero Kobayashi corank, then $M$ has a bounded realization with a uniform squeezing constant; and if $M$ has an intermediate Kobayashi corank, then $M$ has a local weak vector bundle structure. The above description of $M$ is used to show that the dimension of the Bergman space of $M \subseteq \mathbb{C}^d$ is either zero or infinity. This settles Wiegerinck's conjecture for those pseudoconvex domains in higher dimensions that are increasing union of bounded domains with a common uniform squeezing constant.
We discuss approximation of extremal functions by polynomials in the weighted Bergman spaces $A^p_α$ where $-1 < α< 0$ and $-1 < α< p-2$. We obtain bounds on how close the approximation is to the true extremal function in the $A^p_α$ and uniform norms. We also discuss several results on the relation between the Bergman modulus of continuity of a function and how quickly its best polynomial approximants converge to it.
We describe the boundary behaviors of the squeezing functions for all bounded convex domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$ and bounded domains with a $C^2$ strongly convex boundary point.
We study multiple sampling and interpolation problems with unbounded multiplicities in the weighted Bergman space, both in the hilbertian case p = 2 and the uniform case p = +$\infty$.
We construct inner products by the Bernstein-Markov inequality on spaces of holomorphic sections of high powers of a line bundle. The corresponding weighted Bergman kernel functions converge to an extremal function. We obtain a uniform convergence speed.
Most characterizations of interpolating sequences for Bergman spaces include the condition that the sequence be uniformly discrete in the hyperbolic metric. We show that if the notion of interpolation is suitably generalized, two of these characterizations remain valid without that condition. The general interpolation we consider here includes the usual simple interpolation and multiple interpolation as special cases.
We bound integral means of the Bergman projection of a function in terms of integral means of the original function. As an application of these results, we bound certain weighted Bergman space norms of derivatives of Bergman projections in terms of weighted $L^p$ norms of certain derivatives of the original function in the $θ$ direction. These results easily imply the well known result that the Bergman projection is bounded from the Sobolev space $W^{k,p}$ into itself for $1 < p < \infty$. We also apply our results to derive certain regularity results involving extremal problems in Bergman spa…
Let L be a positive line bundle on a projective complex manifold. We study the asymptotic behavior of Bergman kernels associated with the tensor powers L^p of L as p tends to infinity. The emphasis is the dependence of the uniform estimates on the positivity of the Chern form of the metric on L. This situation appears naturally when we approximate a semi-positive singular metric by smooth positively curved metrics.
We construct a class of bounded domains, on which the squeezing function is not uniformly bounded from below near a smooth and pseudoconvex boundary point.
In this paper, we prove that the general ellipsoid $D_P$ is holomorphically homogeneous regular provided that it is a $WB$-domain. Then, the uniform lower bound for the squeezing function near a $(P,r)$-extreme point is also given.
We introduce the notion of domains with uniform squeezing property, study various analytic and geometric properties of such domains and show that they cover many interesting examples, including Teichmuller spaces and Hermitian symmetric spaces of non-compact type. The properties supported by such manifolds include pseudoconvexity, hyperconvexity, Kaehler-hyperbolicity, vanishing of cohomology groups and quasi-isometry of various invariant metrics. It also leads to nice geometric properties for manifolds covered by bounded domains and a simple criterion to provide positive examples to a problem…
In the spirit of Kobayashi's applications of methods of invariant metrics to questions of projective geometry, we introduce a projective analogue of the complex squeezing function. Using Frankel's work, we prove that for convex domains it stays uniformly bounded from below. In the case of strongly convex domains, we show that it tends to 1 at the boundary. This is applied to get a new proof of a projective analogue of the Wong-Rosay theorem.
The Patterson-Sullivan construction is proved almost surely to recover a Bergman function from its values on a random discrete subset sampled with the determinantal point process induced by the Bergman kernel on the unit ball $\mathbb{D}_d$ in $\mathbb{C}^d$. For super-critical weighted Bergman spaces, the interpolation is uniform when the functions range over the unit ball of the weighted Bergman space. As main results, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for interpolation of a fixed pluriharmonic function in the complex hyperbolic space of arbitrary dimension (cf. Theorem 1.4 and …
Let $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}$ be an arbitrary domain in the one-dimensional complex plane equipped with a positive Radon measure $μ$. For any $1\le p< \infty$, it is shown that the weighted Bergman space $A^p(Ω, μ)$ of holomorphic functions is a Banach space if and only if $A^p(Ω, μ)$ has locally uniformly bounded point evaluations. In particular, in the case $p =2$, any complete Bergman space $A^2(Ω, μ)$ is automatically a reproducing kernel Hilbert space.
We give a general method to obtain from the integral restrictions of functions sharp pointwise and uniform estimates of these functions. This scheme is illustrated by the examples for Fock\,--\,Bargmann spaces of entire functions of several variables and Bergman spaces in balls and polydiscs.
We characterize using the Bergman kernel Carleson measures of Bergman spaces in strongly pseudoconvex bounded domains in several complex variables, generalizing to this setting theorems proved by Duren and Weir for the unit ball. We also show that uniformly discrete (with respect to the Kobayashi distance) sequences give examples of Carleson measures, and we compute the speed of escape to the boundary of uniformly discrete sequences in strongly pseudoconvex domains, generalizing results obtained in the unit ball by Jevtić, Massaneda and Thomas, by Duren and Weir, and by MacCluer.
We present sufficient conditions on a smooth uniformly flat hypersurface W in the unit ball to be an interpolation hypersurface or a sampling hypersurface for generalized Bergman spaces associated to the unit ball with its Bergman metric. The conditions are phrased in terms of a geometric Beurling-type densities, similar to the densities defined for hypersurfaces in C^n by Ortega-Cerda, Schuster and the second author. For the case of sampling, our proofs are different than those in the C^n case; we use an approach closer in spirit to the work of Berndtsson and Ortega-Cerda in the 1-dimensional…
In this new version, we give an affirmative solution to a conjecture of Cheng proposed in 1979 which asserts that the Bergman metric of a smoothly bounded strongly pseudoconvex domain in $\mathbb{C}^n, n\geq 2,$ is Kähler-Einstein if and only if the domain is biholomorphic to the ball. We establish versions of various classical theorems that are used in the solution for Stein spaces. Among other things, we construct a hyperbolic metric over a Stein space with spherical boundary. We also prove the Q. K. Lu type uniformization theorem for Stein spaces with isolated normal singularities.
In this paper we establish a gap theorem for the complex geometry of smoothly bounded convex domains which informally says that if the complex geometry near the boundary is close to the complex geometry of the unit ball, then the domain must be strongly pseudoconvex. One consequence of our general result is the following: for any dimension there exists some $ε> 0$ so that if the squeezing function on a smoothly bounded convex domain is greater than $1-ε$ outside a compact set, then the domain is strongly pseudoconvex (and hence the squeezing function limits to one on the boundary). Another con…
We provide a class of geometric convex domains on which the Carathéodory-Reiffen metric, the Bergman metric, the complete Kähler-Einstein metric of negative scalar curvature are uniformly equivalent, but not proportional to each other. In a two-dimensional case, we provide a full description of curvature tensors of the Bergman metric on the weakly pseudoconvex boundary point and show that invariant metrics are proportional to each other if and only if the geometric convex domain is the Poincaré-disk.
Very recently, the Fridman function of a complex manifold $X$ has been identified as a dual of the squeezing function of $X$. In this paper, we prove that the Fridman function for certain hyperbolic complex manifold $X$ is bounded above by the injectivity radius function of $X$. This result also suggests us to use the Fridman function to extend the definition of uniform thickness to higher-dimensional hyperbolic complex manifolds. We also establish an expression for the Fridman function (with respect to the Kobayashi metric) when $X = \mathbb{D} \diagup Γ$ and $Γ$ is a torsion-free discrete su…
We study two problems concerning harmonic measure on "champagne subdomains" of the unit disk. These domains are obtained by removing from the unit disk little disks around sequences of points with a uniform distribution with respect to the pseudohyperbolic metric of the unit disk. We find (I) a necessary and sufficient condition on the decay of the radii of the little disks for the exterior boundary to have positive harmonic measure, and (II) describe sampling and interpolating sequences for Bergman spaces in terms of the harmonic measure on such ``champagne subdomains''.
We prove that a complete Kähler manifold with holomorphic curvature bounded between two negative constants admits a unique complete Kähler-Einstein metric. We also show this metric and the Kobayashi-Royden metric are both uniformly equivalent to the background Kähler metric. Furthermore, all three metrics are shown to be uniformly equivalent to the Bergman metric, if the complete Kähler manifold is simply-connected, with the sectional curvature bounded between two negative constants. In particular, we confirm two conjectures of R. E. Greene and H. Wu posted in 1979.
It is shown that geodesics in the space of Kähler potentials can be uniformly approximated by geodesics in the spaces of Bergman metrics. Two important tools in the proof are the Tian-Yau-Zelditch approximation theorem for Kähler potentials and the pluripotential theory of Bedford-Taylor, suitably adapted to Kähler manifolds.
Introduced by Coifman, Meyer, and Stein, the tent spaces have seen wide applications in Harmonic Analysis. Their analytic cousins have seen some applications involving the derivatives of Hardy space functions. Moreover, the tent spaces have been a recent focus of research. We introduce the concept of interpolating and sampling sequences for analytic tent spaces analogously to the same concepts for Bergman spaces. We then characterize such sequences in terms of Seip's upper and lower uniform density. We accomplish this by exploiting a kind of Möbius invariance for the tent spaces.
