We prove a central limit theorem for smooth linear statistics associated with zero divisors of standard Gaussian holomorphic sections in a sequence of holomorphic line bundles with Hermitian metrics of class $\mathscr{C}^{3}$ over a compact Kähler manifold. In the course of our analysis, we derive first-order asymptotics and upper decay estimates for near and off-diagonal Bergman kernels, respectively. These results are essential for determining the statistical properties of the zeros of random holomorphic sections.
We classify compact Kähler manifolds with semi-positive holomorphic bisectional and big tangent bundles. We also classify compact complex surfaces with semi-positive tangent bundles and compact complex $3$-folds of the form $P(T^*X)$ whose tangent bundles are nef. Moreover, we show that if $X$ is a Fano manifold such that $P(T^*X)$ has nef tangent bundle, then $X\cong P^n$.
Let $M$ be a compact complex manifold of dimension at least three and $Π: M\rightarrow X$ a positive principal elliptic fibration, where $X$ is a compact Kähler orbifold. Fix a preferred Hermitian metric on $M$. In \cite{V}, the third author proved that every stable vector bundle on $M$ is of the form $L\otimes Π^*B_0$, where $B_0$ is a stable vector bundle on $X$, and $L$ is a holomorphic line bundle on $M$. Here we prove that every stable Higgs bundle on $M$ is of the form $(L\otimes Π^*B_0,Π^*Φ_X)$, where $(B_0, Φ_X)$ is a stable Higgs bundle on $X$ and $L$ is a holomorphic line bundle on $…
We construct a convex and strongly pseudoconvex Kobayashi positive Finsler metric on a vector bundle $E$ under the assumption that the symmetric power of the dual $S^kE^*$ has a Griffiths negative $L^2$-metric for some $k$. The proof relies on the negativity of direct image bundles and the Minkowski inequality for norms. As a corollary, we show that given a strongly pseudoconvex Kobayashi positive Finsler metric, one can upgrade to a \textit{convex} Finsler metric with the same property. We also give an extremal characterization of Kobayashi curvature for Finsler metrics.
We generalize a construction of Hitchin to prove that, given any compact Kähler manifold $M$ with positive holomorphic sectional curvature and any holomorphic vector bundle $E$ over $M$, the projectivized vector bundle ${\mathbb P}(E)$ admits a Kähler metric with positive holomorphic sectional curvature.
In this short note, we prove that a complex Finsler vector bundle with positive Kobayashi curvature must be ample, which partially solves a problem of S. Kobayashi posed in 1975. As applications, a strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler manifold with positive Kobayashi curvature must be biholomorphic to the complex projective space; we also show that all Schur polynomials are numerically positive for complex Finsler vector bundles with positive Kobayashi curvature.
In this paper, we prove the Miyaoka-Yau inequality for compact Kähler manifolds with semi-positive canonical bundle. The key point of the proof is the estimate for the $L^2$-norm of the scalar curvature along the Kähler-Ricci flow.
By using asymptotic Morse inequalities we give a lower bound for the space of holomorphic sections of high tensor powers in a positive line bundle over a q-concave domain. The curvature of the positive bundle induces a hermitian metric on the manifold. The bound is given explicitely in terms of the volume of the domain in this metric and a certain integral on the boundary involving the defining function and its Levi form. As application we study the perturbattion of the complex structure of a q-concave manifold.
In characteristic $0$, the Campana-Peternell conjecture claims that the only smooth Fano variety with nef tangent bundle should be homogeneous. In this paper, we study the positive characteristic version of the Campana-Peternell conjecture. In particular, we give an affirmative answer for Fano $4$-folds with nef tangent bundle and Picard number greater than one.
We prove that the $L^2$ metric on the direct image of an adjoint positive line bundle by a locally trivial submersion between projective manifolds is Nakano positive, under the assumption that the typical fiber has zero first Betti number. As a consequence, we get that the symmetric powers of an ample vector bundle tensorized by its determinant are Nakano positive, in particular Griffiths positive. This in turn gives vanishing theorems and an analytic characterization of ample vector bundles.
We shall give an explicit estimate of the lower bound of the Bergman kernel associated to a positive line bundle. In the compact Riemann surface case, our result can be seen as an explicit version of Tian's partial $C^0$-estimate.
A principal toric bundle $M$ is a complex manifold equipped with a free holomorphic action of a compact complex torus $T$. Such a manifold is fibered over $M/T$, with fiber $T$. We discuss the notion of positivity in fiber bundles and define positive toric bundles. Given an irreducible complex subvariety $X\subset M$ of a positive principal toric bundle, we show that either $X$ is $T$-invariant, or it lies in an orbit of $T$-action. For principal elliptic bundles, this theorem is known (math.AG/0403430). As follows from Borel-Remmert-Tits theorem, any compact simply connected homogeneous compl…
In this paper, we study the Nakano-positivity and dual-Nakano-positivity of certain adjoint vector bundles associated to ample vector bundles. As applications, we get new vanishing theorems about ample vector bundles. For example, we prove that if $E$ is an ample vector bundle over a compact Kähler manifold $X$, $S^kE\ts \det E$ is both Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive for any $k\geq 0$. Moreover, $H^{n,q}(X,S^kE\ts \det E)=H^{q,n}(X,S^kE\ts \det E)=0$ for any $q\geq 1$. In particular, if $(E,h)$ is a Griffiths-positive vector bundle, the naturally induced Hermitian vector bundle $(S^k…
We obtain the Bogomolov-Sommese type vanishing theorem involving multiplier ideal sheaves for big line bundles. We define a dual Nakano semi-positivity of singular Hermitian metrics with L2-estimates and prove the vanishing theorem which is a generalization of the Bogomolov-Sommese type vanishing theorem to holomorphic vector bundles.
Off-diagonal upper bounds are established away from the diagonal for the Bergman kernels associated to high powers of holomorphic line bundles over compact complex manifolds, asymptotically as the power tends to infinity. The line bundle is assumed to be equipped with a Hermitian metric with positive curvature form, which is infinitely differentiable but not necessarily real analytic. The bounds obtained are the best possible for this class of metrics.
We prove that the normal bundle to the Levi foliation of a smooth Levi flat hypersurface does not admit a Hermitian metric with positive curvature along the leaves in compact Kähler manifolds of dimension at least 3. This represents an answer to a conjecture of Marco Brunella.
We show the existence of uniformly bounded sequences of increasing numbers of orthonormal sections of powers $L^k$ of a positive holomorphic line bundle $L$ on a compact Kähler manifold $M$. In particular, we construct for each positive integer $k$, orthonormal sections $s^k_1,\dots,s^k_{n_k}$ in $H^0(M,L^k)$, $n_k\geβ\dim H^0(M,L^k)$, such that $\{s^k_j\}$ is a uniformly bounded family, where $β$ is an explicit positive constant depending only on the dimension of $M$. For $m=1$, we can take $β=.99564$.
Let L be a positive line bundle on a projective complex manifold. We study the asymptotic behavior of Bergman kernels associated with the tensor powers L^p of L as p tends to infinity. The emphasis is the dependence of the uniform estimates on the positivity of the Chern form of the metric on L. This situation appears naturally when we approximate a semi-positive singular metric by smooth positively curved metrics.
In this paper we study the asymptotic behaviour of the spectral function corresponding to the lower part of the spectrum of the Kodaira Laplacian on high tensor powers of a holomorphic line bundle. This implies a full asymptotic expansion of this function on the set where the curvature of the line bundle is non-degenerate. As application we obtain the Bergman kernel asymptotics for adjoint semi-positive line bundles over complete Kaehler manifolds, on the set where the curvature is positive. We also prove the asymptotics for big line bundles endowed with singular Hermitian metrics with strictl…
Let $X$ be a compact generalized Sasakian CR manifold of dimension $2n-1$, $n\geqslant2$, and let $L$ be a generalized Sasakian CR line bundle over $X$ equipped with a rigid semi-positive Hermitian fiber metric $h^L$. In this paper we prove that if $h^L$ is positive at some point of $X$ and conditions Y(0) and Y(1) hold at each point of $X$, then $L$ is big.
Let $X$ be a complex manifold and $L$ be a holomorphic line bundle on $X$. Assume that $L$ is semi-positive, namely $L$ admits a smooth Hermitian metric with semi-positive Chern curvature. Let $Y$ be a compact Kähler submanifold of $X$ such that the restriction of $L$ to $Y$ is topologically trivial. We investigate the obstruction for $L$ to be unitary flat on a neighborhood of $Y$ in $X$. As an application, for example, we show the existence of nef, big, and non semi-positive line bundle on a non-singular projective surface.
We show that if a compact complex manifold admits a Kähler metric whose holomorphic sectional curvature is everywhere non positive and strictly negative in at least one point, then its canonical bundle is positive.
Let $M\stackrelπ\arrow X$ be a principal elliptic fibration over a Kaehler base $X$. We assume that the Kaehler form on $X$ is lifted to an exact form on $M$ (such fibrations are called positive). Examples of these are regular Vaisman manifolds (in particular, the regular Hopf manifolds) and Calabi-Eckmann manifolds. Assume that $\dim M > 2$. Using the Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence, we prove that all stable bundles on $M$ are flat on the fibers of the elliptic fibration. This is used to show that all stable vector bundles on $M$ take form $L\otimes π^* B_0$, where $B_0$ is a stable bundle o…
We give an example of a compact Levi-flat CR 3-manifold with a positive-along-leaves CR line bundle which is not ample with respect to transversely infinitely differentiable CR sections. This example shows that we cannot improve the regularity of Kodaira type embedding theorem for compact Levi-flat CR manifolds obtained by Ohsawa and Sibony.
Coman, Guedj and Zeriahi proved that, for an ample line bundle $L$ on a projective manifold $X$, any singular positive metric on the line bundle $L|_{V}$ along a subvariety $V \subset X$ can be extended to a global singular positive metric on $L$. In this paper, we prove that the extendability of singular positive metrics on a line bundle along a subvariety implies the ampleness of the line bundle.
We investigate singular Hermitian metrics on vector bundles, especially strictly Griffiths positive ones. $L^2$ esitimates and vanishing theorems usually require an assumption that vector bundles are Nakano positive. However there is no general definition of the Nakano positivity in singular settings. In this paper, we show various $L^2$ estimates and vanishing theromes by assuming that the vector bundle is strictly Griffiths positive and the base manifold is projective.
We prove that the invariant part, with respect to a compact group action satisfying certain condition, of the direct image of a Nakano positive Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle over a bounded pseudoconvex domain is Nakano positive. We also consider the action of the noncompact group $\mathbb{R}^m$ and get the same result for a family of tube domains, which leads to a new method to the matrix-valued Prekopa's theorem originally proved by Raufi. The two main ingredients in our method are Hörmander's $L^2$ theory of $\bar\partial$ and the recent work of Deng-Ning-Zhang-Zhou on characterization…
In this master thesis, we give a new proof on the pointwise asymptotic expansion for Bergman kernel of a hermitian holomorphic line bundle on the points where the curvature of the line bundle is positive and satisfy local spectral gap condition. The main point is to introduce a suitable semi-classical symbol space and related symbolic calculus inspired from recent work of Hsiao and Savale. Particularly, we establish the existence of pointwise asymptotic expansion on the positive part for certain semi-positive line bundles.
Given a proper, open, holomorphic map of Kähler manifolds, whose general fibers are Calabi-Yau manifolds, the volume forms for the Ricci-flat metrics induce a hermitian metric on the relative canonical bundle over the regular locus of the family. We show that the curvature form extends as a closed positive current. Consequently the Weil-Petersson metric extends as a positive current. In the projective case, the Weil-Petersson form is known to be the curvature of a certain determinant line bundle, equipped with a Quillen metric. As an application we get that after blowing up the singular locus,…
We equate dynamical properties (e.g., positive entropy, existence of a periodic curve) of complex projective surface automorphisms with properties of the pull-back actions of such automorphisms on line bundles. We use the properties of the cohomological actions to describe the measures of maximal entropy for automorphisms with positive entropy.
We discuss positive closed currents and Fubini-Study currents on orbifolds, as well as Bergman kernels of singular Hermitian orbifold line bundles. We prove that the Fubini-Study currents associated to high powers of a semipositive singular line bundle converge weakly to the curvature current on the set where the curvature is strictly positive, generalizing a well-known theorem of Tian. We include applications to the asymptotic distribution of zeros of random holomorphic sections.
In this work, we investigate the positivity of logarithmic and orbifold cotangent bundles along hyperplane arrangements in projective spaces. We show that a very interesting example given by Noguchi (as early as in 1986) can be pushed further to a very great extent. Key ingredients of our approach are the use of Fermat covers and the production of explicit global symmetric differentials. This allows us to obtain some new results in the vein of several classical results of the literature on hyperplane arrangements. These seem very natural using the modern point of view of augmented base loci, a…
Building on Fujita-Griffiths method of computing metrics on Hodge bundles, we show that the direct image of an adjoint semi-ample line bundle by a projective submersion has a continuous metric with Griffiths semi-positive curvature. This shows that for every holomorphic semi-ample vector bundle $E$ on a complex manifold, and every positive integer $k$, the vector bundle $S^kE\otimes\det E$ has a continuous metric with Griffiths semi-positive curvature. If $E$ is ample on a projective manifold, the metric can be made smooth and Griffiths positive.
We study the limit distribution of zeros of certain sequences of holomorphic sections of high powers $L^N$ of a positive holomorphic Hermitian line bundle $L$ over a compact complex manifold $M$. Our first result concerns `random' sequences of sections. Using the natural probability measure on the space of sequences of orthonormal bases $\{S^N_j\}$ of $H^0(M, L^N)$, we show that for almost every sequence $\{S^N_j\}$, the associated sequence of zero currents $1/N Z_{S^N_j}$ tends to the curvature form $ω$ of $L$. Thus, the zeros of a sequence of sections $s_N \in H^0(M, L^N)$ chosen independent…
We prove several asymptotic vanishing theorems for Frobenius twists of ample vector bundles in positive characteristic. As an application, we prove a generalization of the Bott-Danilov-Steenbrink vanishing theorem for ample vector bundles on toric varieties.
We prove a general extension theorem for holomorphic line bundles on reduced complex spaces, equipped with singular hermitian metrics, whose curvature currents can be extended as positive, closed currents. The result has applications to various moduli theoretic situations.
We characterize operator-theoretic properties (boundedness, compactness, and Schatten class membership) of Toeplitz operators with positive measure symbols on Bergman spaces of holomorphic hermitian line bundles over Kähler Cartan-Hadamard manifolds in terms of geometric or operator-theoretic properties of measures.
Let $L$ be a (semi)-positive line bundle over a Kahler manifold, $X$, fibered over a complex manifold $Y$. Assuming the fibers are compact and non-singular we prove that the hermitian vector bundle $E$ over $Y$ whose fibers over points $y$ are the spaces of global sections over $X_y$ to $L\gr K_{X/Y}$ endowed with the $L^2$-metric is (semi)-positive in the sense of Nakano. We also discuss various applications, among them a partial result on a conjecture of Griffiths on the positivity of ample bundles. This is a revised and much expanded version of a previous preprint with the title `` Bergman …
Let $p:\sXS$ be a proper Kähler fibration and $\sE\sX$ a Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle. As motivated by the work of Berndtsson(\cite{Berndtsson09a}), by using basic Hodge theory, we derive several general curvature formulas for the direct image $p_*(K_{\sX/S}\ts \sE)$ for general Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle $\sE$ in a simple way. A straightforward application is that, if the family $\sXS$ is infinitesimally trivial and Hermitian vector bundle $\sE$ is Nakano-negative along the base $S$, then the direct image $p_*(K_{\sX/S}\ts \sE)$ is Nakano-negative. We also use these curvature …
