This paper is concerned with a non-compact GIT quotient of a vector space, in the presence of an abelian group action and an equivariant regular function (potential) on the quotient. We define virtual counts of quasimaps from prestable curves to the critical locus of the potential, and prove a gluing formula in the formalism of cohomological field theories.
The main examples studied in this paper is when the above setting arises from quivers with potentials, where the above construction gives quantum correction to the equivariant Chow homology of the critical locus. Following similar ideas as in quasimaps to Nakajima quiver varieties studied by the Okounkov school, we analyse vertex functions in several examples, including Hilbert schemes of points on $\mathbb{C}^3$, moduli spaces of perverse coherent systems on the resolved conifold, and a quiver which defines higher $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-spin chains. Bethe equations are calculated in these cases.
The construction in the present paper is based on the theory of gauged linear sigma models as well as shifted symplectic geometry of Pantev, Toën, Vaquie and Vezzosi, and uses the virtual pullback formalism of symmetric obstruction theory of Park, which arises from the recent development of Donaldson-Thomas theory of Calabi-Yau 4-folds.
We consider the moduli spaces of quasimaps to zero-dimensional $A_{\infty}$ Nakajima quiver varieties. An explicit combinatorial formula for the equivariant Euler characteristic of these moduli spaces is obtained and applications to symplectic duality are discussed.
We study the moduli space of twisted quasimaps from a fixed smooth projective curve to a Nakajima's quiver variety and the moduli space of $δ$-stable framed twisted quiver bundles with moment map relations. We show that they carry symmetric obstruction theories and when $δ$ is large enough, they exactly coincide. These results generalize works of D.E. Diaconescu about the ADHM quiver, in the framework of the quasimap theory of I. Ciocan-Fontanine, D. Maulik and the author.
The elliptic quasimap potential function is explicitly calculated for Calabi-Yau complete intersections in projective spaces by Kim and Lho. We extend this result to local Calabi-Yau varieties. Using this as well as the wall crossing formula by Ciocan-Fontanine and Kim, we can calculate the elliptic Gromov-Witten potential function.
We state a wall-crossing formula for the virtual classes of epsilon-stable quasimaps to GIT quotients and prove it for complete intersections in projective space, with no positivity restrictions on their first Chern class. As a consequence, the wall-crossing formula relating the genus g descendant Gromov-Witten potential and the genus g epsilon-quasimap descendant potential is established. For the quintic threefold, our results may be interpreted as giving a rigorous and geometric interpretation of the holomorphic limit of the BCOV B-model partition function of the mirror family.
We study the quasimap invariants of elliptic and K3 fibrations. Oberdieck and Pixton conjectured that the Gromov-Witten potentials of elliptic fibrations are quasi-modular forms. Analogously, we propose similar conjecture for the quasimap potentials of elliptic fibrations. We also conjecture some finite generation properties of quasimap potentials of K3 fibrations. Via wall-crossing conjecture, this will imply some quasi-modularity of the Gromov-Witten potentials of K3 fibrations. We provide some evidences for our conjectures through several examples. The method here can be further generalized…
Pursuing the similarity between the Kontsevich--Soibelman construction of the cohomological Hall algebra of BPS states and Lusztig's construction of canonical bases for quantum enveloping algebras, and the similarity between the inetgrality conjecture for motivic Donaldson--Thomas invariants and the PBW theorem for quantum enveloping algebras, we build a coproduct on the cohomological Hall algebra associated to a quiver with potential. We also prove a cohomological dimensional reduction theorem, further linking a special class of cohomological Hall algebras with Yangians, and explaining how to…
We study motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants for a class of quivers with potentials using the strategy of Behrend, Bryan, and Szendroi. This class includes quivers with potentials arising from consistent brane tilings and quivers with zero potential. Our construction is an alternative to the constructions of Kontsevich and Soibelman. We construct an integration map from the equivariant Hall algebra to the quantum torus and show that our motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants are images of the natural elements in the equivariant Hall algebra. We show that the inegration map is an algebra homomorph…
We prove the flow tree formula conjectured by Alexandrov and Pioline which computes Donaldson-Thomas invariants of quivers with potentials in terms of a smaller set of attractor invariants. This result is obtained as a particular case of a more general flow tree formula reconstructing a consistent scattering diagram from its initial walls.
For $(Q,W)$ a symmetric quiver with potential satisfying a Künneth-type condition, we construct (positive and negative) extensions of its K-theoretic Hall algebra which are bialgebras. In particular, there are bialgebra extensions of preprojective KHAs of a quiver $Q$ and one can construct their Drinfeld double algebra.
Let $C$ be a simply laced generalized Cartan matrix. Given an element $b$ of the generalized braid semigroup related to $C$, we construct a collection of mutation-equivalent quivers with potentials. A quiver with potential in such a collection corresponds to an expression of $b$ in terms of the standard generators. For two expressions that differ by a braid relation, the corresponding quivers with potentials are related by a mutation. The main application of this result is a construction of a family of $CY_3$ $A_\infty$-categories associated to elements of the braid semigroup related to $C$. I…
We study properties of potentials on quivers $Q_{\mathcal{T},m}$ arising from cluster coordinates on moduli spaces of $PGL_{m+1}$-local systems on a topological surface with punctures. To every quiver with potential one can associate a $3d$ Calabi-Yau $A_\infty$-category in such a way that a natural notion of equivalence for quivers with potentials (called "right-equivalence") translates to $A_\infty$-equivalence of associated categories. For any quiver one can define a notion of a "primitive" potential. Our first result is the description of the space of equivalence classes of primitive poten…
This is an extended abstract of my talk at the Oberwolfach Workshop "Algebraic Groups" (April 22 - 28, 2007). It is based on a joint work with H.Derksen and J.Weyman (arXiv:0704.0649v2 [math.RA]).
Given a quiver with potential $(Q,W)$, Kontsevich-Soibelman constructed a Hall algebra on the critical cohomology of the stack of representations of $(Q,W)$. Special cases of this construction are related to work of Nakajima, Varagnolo, Schiffmann-Vasserot, Maulik-Okounkov, Yang-Zhao etc. about geometric constructions of Yangians and their representations; indeed, given a quiver $Q$, there exists an associated pair $\left(\widetilde{Q},\widetilde{W}\right)$ whose CoHA is conjecturally the positive half of the Maulik-Okounkov Yangian $Y_{\text{MO}}(\mathfrak{g}_Q)$. For a quiver with potential …
Given a brane tiling, that is a bipartite graph on a torus, we can associate with it a quiver potential and a quiver potential algebra. Under certain consistency conditions on a brane tiling, we prove a formula for the Donaldson-Thomas type invariants of the moduli space of framed cyclic modules over the corresponding quiver potential algebra. We relate this formula with the counting of perfect matchings of the periodic plane tiling corresponding to the brane tiling. We prove that the same consistency conditions imply that the quiver potential algebra is a 3-Calabi-Yau algebra. We also formula…
This paper aims at a geometric realization of the Yangian of non-simply laced type in terms of quiver with potentials. For every quiver with symmetrizer, there is an extended quiver with superpotential, whose Jacobian algebra is the generalized preprojective algebra of Geiß, Leclerc, and Schröer arXiv:1410.1403. We study the cohomological Hall algebra of Kontsevich and Soibelman associated to this quiver with potential. In particular, we prove a dimensional reduction result, and provide a shuffle formula of this cohomological Hall algebra. In the case when the quiver with symmetrizer comes fro…
Consider a smooth quasiprojective variety X equipped with a C*-action, and a regular function f: X -> C which is C*-equivariant with respect to a positive weight action on the base. We prove the purity of the mixed Hodge structure and the hard Lefschetz theorem on the cohomology of the vanishing cycle complex of f on proper components of the critical locus of f, generalizing a result of Steenbrink for isolated quasi-homogeneous singularities. Building on work of Kontsevich-Soibelman, Nagao and Efimov, we use this result to prove the quantum positivity conjecture for cluster mutations for all q…
We study quivers with potential (QPs) whose Jacobian algebras are finite dimensional selfinjective. They are an analogue of the `good QPs' studied by Bocklandt whose Jacobian algebras are 3-Calabi-Yau. We show that 2-representation-finite algebras are truncated Jacobian algebras of selfinjective QPs, which are factor algebras of Jacobian algebras by certain sets of arrows called cuts. We show that selfinjectivity of QPs is preserved under successive mutation with respect to orbits of the Nakayama permutation. We give a sufficient condition for all truncated Jacobian algebras of a fixed QP to b…
In this paper we compute the motivic Donaldson--Thomas invariants for the quiver with one loop and any potential. As the presence of arbitrary potentials requires the full machinery of \hat(μ)-equivariant motives, we give a detailed account of them. In particular, we will prove two results for the motivic vanishing cycle which might be of importance not only in Donaldson--Thomas theory.
Given a quiver $Q$, a formal potential is called analytic if its coefficients are bounded by the terms of a geometric series. As shown by Toda, the potentials appearing in the deformation theory of complexes of coherent sheaves on complex projective Calabi-Yau threefolds are analytic. Our paper consists of two parts. In the first part, we establish the foundations of the differential calculus of quivers with analytic potentials and prove two fundamental results: the inverse function theorem and Moser's trick. As an application, we prove finite determinacy of analytic potentials with finite-dim…

This paper concerns the cohomological aspects of Donaldson-Thomas theory for Jacobi algebras and the associated cohomological Hall algebra, introduced by Kontsevich and Soibelman. We prove the Hodge-theoretic categorification of the integrality conjecture and the wall crossing formula, and furthermore realise the isomorphism in both of these theorems as Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt isomorphisms for the associated cohomological Hall algebra. We do this by defining a perverse filtration on the cohomological Hall algebra, a result of the "hidden properness" of the semisimplification map from the moduli…
We describe the relationship between two spaces associated to a quiver with potential. The first is a complex manifold parametrizing Bridgeland stability conditions on a triangulated category, and the second is a cluster variety with a natural Poisson structure. For quivers of type $A$, we construct a local biholomorphism from the space of stability conditions to the cluster variety. The existence of this map follows from results of Sibuya in the classical theory of ordinary differential equations.

Given a quiver with potential $(Q,W)$, Kontsevich-Soibelman constructed a Hall algebra on the cohomology of the stack of representations of $(Q,W)$. As shown by Davison-Meinhardt, this algebra comes with a filtration whose associated graded algebra is supercommutative. A special case of this construction is related to work of Nakajima, Varagnolo, Maulik-Okounkov etc. about geometric constructions of Yangians and their representations; indeed, given a quiver $Q$, there exists an associated pair $(\widetilde{Q},\widetilde{W})$ for which the CoHA is conjecturally the positive half of the Yangian …
For a quiver with potential, we can associate a vanishing cycle to each representation space. If there is a nice torus action on the potential, the vanishing cycles can be expressed in terms of truncated Jacobian algebras. We study how these vanishing cycles change under the mutation of Derksen-Weyman-Zelevinsky. The wall-crossing formula leads to a categorification of quantum cluster algebras under some assumption. This is a special case of A. Efimov's result, but our approach is more concrete and down-to-earth. We also obtain a counting formula relating the representation Grassmannians under…

We prove wall-crossing formulas for the motivic invariants of the moduli spaces of framed objects in the ind-constructible abelian categories. Developed techniques are applied in the case of the motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants of quivers with potentials. Another application is a new proof of the formula for the motivic invariants of smooth models of quiver moduli spaces.
Let $G$ be a polyhedral group $G\subset SO(3)$ of types $\mathbb{Z}/n\mathbb{Z}$, $D_{2n}$ and $\mathbb{T}$. We prove that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between flops of $G$-Hilb$\mathbb{C}^3$ and mutations of the McKay quiver with potential which do not mutate the trivial vertex. This correspondence provides two equivalent methods to construct every projective crepant resolution for the singularities $\mathbb{C}^3/G$, which are constructed as moduli spaces $\mathcal{M}_C$ of quivers with potential for some chamber $C$ in the space $Θ$ of stability conditions. In addition, we study …
We study threefolds $Y$ fibred by $A_m$-surfaces over a curve $S$ of positive genus. An ideal triangulation of $S$ defines, for each rank $m$, a quiver $Q(Δ_m)$, hence a $CY_3$-category $(C,W)$ for any potential $W$ on $Q(Δ_m)$. We show that for $ω$ in an open subset of the Kähler cone, a subcategory of a sign-twisted Fukaya category of $(Y,ω)$ is quasi-isomorphic to $(C,W_{[ω]})$ for a certain generic potential $W_{[ω]}$. This partially establishes a conjecture of Goncharov concerning `categorifications' of cluster varieties of framed $PGL_{m+1}$-local systems on $S$, and gives a symplectic g…
The present paper is an extension of a previous paper written in collaboration with Markus Reineke dealing with quiver representations. The aim of the paper is to generalize the theory and to provide a comprehensive theory of Donaldson-Thomas invariants for abelian categories of homological dimension one (without potential) satisfying some technical conditions. The theory will apply for instance to representations of quivers, coherent sheaves on smooth projective curves, and some coherent sheaves on smooth projective surfaces. We show that the (motivic) Donaldson-Thomas invariants satisfy the …
The aim of the paper is to provide a rather gentle introduction into Donaldson-Thomas theory using quivers with potential. The reader should be familiar with some basic knowledge in algebraic or complex geometry. The text contains many examples and exercises to support the process of understanding the main concepts and ideas.
