The translation of experimental limits on the neutron electric dipole moment into constraints on heavy $CP$-violating physics beyond the Standard Model requires knowledge about non-perturbative matrix elements of effective operators, which ideally should be computed in lattice QCD. However, this necessitates a matching calculation as an interface to the effective field theory framework, which is based on dimensional regularization and renormalization by minimal subtraction. We calculate the one-loop matching between the gradient-flow and minimal-subtraction schemes for the $CP$-violating four-quark operators contributing to the neutron electric dipole moment. The gradient flow is a modern regularization-independent scheme amenable to lattice computations that promises, e.g., better control over power divergences than traditional momentum-subtraction schemes. Our results extend previous work on dimension-five operators and provide a necessary ingredient for future lattice-QCD computations of the contribution of four-quark operators to the neutron electric dipole moment.
We report our recent study of spin-orbit force between two nucleons in the parity-odd sector from lattice QCD. To examine the quark mass dependence of spin-orbit force, we construct it from Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave functions in $^3P_0$, $^3P_1$ and $^3P_2-^3F_2$ channels calculated from lattice QCD in the quark mass region $m_π$=702-411 MeV. The calculation is performed on Blue Gene/Q at KEK by using $N_f=2+1$ PACS-CS gauge configuration generated by O(a) improved Wilson quark action with RG improved (Iwasaki) gauge action. We find that the potentials tend to become stronger as the quark mass…
We study the off-shell mixing and renormalization of flavor-diagonal dimension-5 T- and P-odd operators involving quarks, gluons, and photons, including quark electric dipole and chromo-electric dipole operators. We present the renormalization matrix to one-loop in the $\bar{\rm MS}$ scheme. We also provide a definition of the quark chromo-electric dipole operator in a regularization-independent momentum-subtraction scheme suitable for non-perturbative lattice calculations and present the matching coefficients with the $\bar{\rm MS}$ scheme to one-loop in perturbation theory, using both the na…
We investigate the non-perturbative contribution of instantons to current matching kernels used in the context of the large momentum effective theory (LaMET). We derive explicitly these contributions using first principle semi-classical calculus for the unpolarized and polarized quark parton distributions and the matching kernel, and show that they are part of a trans-series expansion. These contributions are substantial at current lattice matching momenta.
The quark chromoelectric dipole (qCEDM) operator is a CP-violating operator describing, at hadronic energies, beyond-the-standard-model contributions to the electric dipole moment of particles with nonzero spin. In this paper we define renormalized dipole operators in a regularization-independent scheme using the gradient flow, and we perform the matching at one loop in perturbation theory to renormalized operators of the same and lower dimension in the more familiar MS scheme. We also determine the matching coefficients for the quark chromomagnetic dipole operator (qCMDM), which contributes, …
We discuss the matching procedure for heavy-light 4-quark operators using the Fermilab method for heavy quarks and staggered fermions for light quarks. These ingredients enable us to construct the continuum-limit operator needed to determine the oscillation frequency of neutral B mesons. The matching is then carried out at the one-loop level. We also present an updated preliminary result for the SU(3)-breaking ratio ξ, based on calculations using the MILC Collaboration's ensembles of lattice gauge fields.
The non-perturbative renormalization of four-quark operators plays a significant role in lattice studies of flavor physics. For this purpose, we define regularization-independent symmetric momentum-subtraction (RI/SMOM) schemes for Delta S=1 flavor-changing four-quark operators and provide one-loop matching factors to the MS-bar scheme in naive dimensional regularization. The mixing of two-quark operators is discussed in terms of two different classes of schemes. We provide a compact expression for the finite one-loop amplitudes which allows for a straightforward definition of further RI/SMOM …
We present a detailed Lattice QCD study of the unpolarized isovector quark Parton Distribution Function (PDF) using large-momentum effective theory framework. We choose a quasi-PDF defined by a spatial correlator which is free from mixing with other operators of the same dimension. In the lattice simulation, we use a Gaussian-momentum-smeared source at $M_π=356$ MeV and $P_z \in \{1.8,2.3\}$ GeV. To control the systematics associated with the excited states, we explore {five different source-sink separations}. The nonperturbative renormalization is conducted in a regularization-independent mom…
Light quark masses can be determined through lattice simulations in regularization invariant momentum-subtraction(RI/MOM) schemes. Subsequently, matching factors, computed in continuum perturbation theory, are used in order to convert these quark masses from a RI/MOM scheme to the MS-bar scheme. We calculate the two-loop corrections in quantum chromodynamics(QCD) to these matching factors as well as the three-loop mass anomalous dimensions for the RI/SMOM and RI/SMOM_gamma_mu schemes. These two schemes are characterized by a symmetric subtraction point. Providing the conversion factors in the …
We match the continuum and lattice axial vector and vector currents at one loop in perturbation theory. For the heavy quarks we use the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) action and for the light quarks the Highly Improved Staggered Quark (HISQ) action. We present results for both massless and massive HISQ quarks and as part of the matching procedure we include a discussion of the one loop HISQ renormalisation parameters.
We calculate the one loop renormalisation parameters for the heavy-light axial-vector and vector currents using lattice perturbation theory. We use NonRelativistic QCD (NRQCD) heavy quarks and the Highly Improved Staggered Quark (HISQ) action for the light quarks. We present results for heavy-light currents with massless HISQ quarks and briefly discuss the extension to heavy-heavy currents with massive HISQ quarks.
We discuss perturbative O(g^2a) matching with static heavy quarks and domain-wall light quarks for lattice operators relevant to B-meson decays and $B^0$-$\bar{B}^0$ mixing. The chiral symmetry of the light domain-wall quarks does not prohibit operator mixing at O(a) for these operators. The O(a) corrections to physical quantities are non-negligible and must be included to obtain high-precision simulation results for CKM physics. We provide results using plaquette, Symanzik, Iwasaki and DBW2 gluon actions and applying APE, HYP1 and HYP2 link-smearing for the static quark action.
We match continuum and lattice heavy-light four-fermion operators at one loop in perturbation theory. For the heavy quarks we use nonrelativistic QCD and for the massless light quarks the highly improved staggered quark action. We include the full set of $ΔB=2$ operators relevant to neutral $B$ mixing both within and beyond the Standard Model and match through order $α_s$, $Λ_{\mathrm{QCD}}/M_b$, and $α_s/(aM_b)$.
The use of Heavy Quark Effective Theory (HQET) on the lattice as an approach to B-physics phenomenology is based on a non-perturbative matching of HQET to QCD in finite volume. As a first step to apply the underlying strategy in the three-flavor ($N_f = 2+1$) theory, we determine the renormalization constant and improvement coefficients relating the renormalized current and subtracted quark mass of (quenched) valence quarks in $\mathcal{O}(a)$ improved $N_f=3$ lattice QCD. We present our strategy and first results for the relevant parameter region towards weak couplings along a line of constan…
A mixed action composed of valence quark flavours regularized with a fully-twisted tmQCD action and of $N_f=2+1$ flavours of non-perturbatively ${\rm O}(a)$-improved Wilson sea quarks is described. Two procedures for the matching of sea and valence quark masses are discussed. We report about a comparison of the continuum-limit scaling of pseudoscalar meson observables and of quark masses using the sea and valence actions.
The world's first examination of the odd-parity nucleon spectrum at light quark masses in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD is presented. Configurations generated by the PACS-CS collaboration and made available through the ILDG are used, with the lightest pion mass at 156 MeV. A novel method for tracking the individual energy eigenstates as the quark mass changes is introduced. The success of this approach reveals the flow of the states towards the physical masses. Using the correlation matrix method, the two lowest-energy states revealed are found to be in accord with the physical spectrum of Nature.
