We investigate magnetotransport across an interface between two Weyl semimetals whose Weyl nodes project onto different interface momenta. Such an interface generically hosts Fermi arcs that connect Weyl nodes of identical chirality in different Weyl semimetals (homochiral connectivity) -- in contrast to surface Fermi arcs that connect opposite-chirality Weyl nodes within the same Weyl semimetal (heterochiral connectivity). We show that electron transport along the arcs with homochiral connectivity, in the presence of a longitudinal magnetic field, leads to a universal longitudinal magnetoconductance of $e^2/h$ per magnetic flux quantum. Furthermore, a weak tunnel coupling can result in a close encounter of two homochiral-connectivity Fermi arcs, enabling magnetic breakdown. Above the breakdown field the interface Fermi arc connectivity is effectively heterochiral, leading to a saturation of the conductance.
We calculate the Landau levels of a Kramers-Weyl semimetal thin slab in a perpendicular magnetic field $B$. The coupling of Fermi arcs on opposite surfaces broadens the Landau levels with a band width that oscillates periodically in $1/B$. We interpret the spectrum in terms of a one-dimensional superlattice induced by magnetic breakdown at Weyl points. The band width oscillations may be observed as $1/B$-periodic magnetoconductance oscillations, at weaker fields and higher temperatures than the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations due to Landau level quantization. No such spectrum appears in a gener…
Weyl semimetal is a recently discovered state of quantum matter, which generally possesses tilted energy dispersion. Here, we investigate the electron tunneling through a Weyl semimetal p-n-p junction. The angular dependence of electron tunneling exhibits an anomalous profile such that perfect transmission angles are shifted along the direction of the tilt. Coupling of the tilted dispersion and electrical potential within the barrier region gives rise to a transverse momentum shift, which is analogous to the transverse Lorentz displacement induced by magnetic barriers.
We investigate the tunneling of the quasiparticles arising in multi-Weyl semimetals through a barrier consisting of both electrostatic and vector potentials, existing uniformly in a finite region along the transmission axis. The dispersion of a multi-Weyl semimetal is linear in one direction (say, $k_z$), and proportional to $k_\perp^J$ in the plane perpendicular to it (where $k_\perp =\sqrt{k_x^2+k_y^2}$). Hence, we study the cases when the barrier is perpendicular to $k_z$ and $k_x$, respectively. For comparison, we also state the corresponding results for the Weyl semimetal.
We investigate the tunneling magnetoresistance in magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) comprised of Weyl semimetal contacts. We show that chirality-magnetization locking leads to a gigantic tunneling magnetoresistance ratio, an effect that does not rely on spin filtering by the tunnel barrier. Our results indicate that the conductance in the anti-parallel configuration is more sensitive to magnetization fluctuations than in MTJs with normal ferromagnets, and predicts a TMR as large as 10^4 % when realistic magnetization fluctuations are accounted for. In addition, we show that the Fermi arc states…
We theoretically study a tunneling effect in a two-dimensional Dirac semimetal with two Dirac points protected by non-symmorphic symmetries. The tunnel barrier can be arranged by a magnetic exchange potential which opens a gap at the Dirac points which can be induced by a magnetic proximity effect of a ferromagnetic insulator. We found that the tunnel decay length increases with a decrease in the strength of the spin-orbit coupling, and moreover the dependence is attributed to the correlation of sublattice and spin degree of freedoms which lead to symmetry-protected Dirac points. The tunnel pr…
We study the current-induced torques in asymmetric magnetic tunnel junctions containing a conventional ferromagnet and a magnetic Weyl semimetal contact. The Weyl semimetal hosts chiral bulk states and topologically protected Fermi arc surface states which were found to govern the voltage behavior and efficiency of current-induced torques. We report how bulk chirality dictates the sign of the non-equilibrium torques acting on the ferromagnet and discuss the existence of large field-like torques acting on the magnetic Weyl semimetal which exceeds the theoretical maximum of conventional magnetic…
The low-energy quasiparticles of Weyl semimetals are a condensed-matter realization of the Weyl fermions introduced in relativistic field theory. Chiral anomaly, the nonconservation of the chiral charge under parallel electric and magnetic fields, is arguably the most important phenomenon of Weyl semimetals and has been explained as an imbalance between the occupancies of the gapless, zeroth Landau levels with opposite chiralities. This widely accepted picture has served as the basis for subsequent studies. Here we report the breakdown of the chiral anomaly in Weyl semimetals in a strong magne…
The band structure of a type-II Weyl semimetal has pairs of electron and hole pockets that coexist over a range of energies and touch at a topologically protected conical point. We identify signatures of this Weyl point in the magnetic quantum oscillations of the density of states, observable in thermodynamic properties. Tunneling between the electron and hole pockets in a magnetic field is the momentum space counterpart of Klein tunneling at a p-n junction in real space. This magnetic breakdown happens at a characteristic field that vanishes when the Fermi level approaches the Weyl point. Top…
Klein tunneling refers to the absence of normal backscattering of electrons even under the case of high potential barriers. At the barrier interface, the perfect matching of electron and hole wavefunctions enables a unit transmission probability for normally incident electrons. It is theoretically and experimentally well understood in two-dimensional relativistic materials such as graphene. Here we investigate the Klein tunneling effect in Weyl semimetals under the influence of magnetic field induced by anti-symmetric ferromagnetic stripes placed at barrier boundaries. Our results show that th…
Motivated by the exciting prediction of Multi-Weyl topological semimetals that are stabilized by point group symmetries [Phys. Rev. Lett. 108 (2012) 266802], we study tunneling phenomena for a class of anisotropic Multi-Weyl semimetals. We find that a distant detector for different ranges of an anisotropy parameter $λ$ and incident angle $θ$ will measure a different number of propagating transmitted modes. We present these findings in terms of phase diagrams that is valid for an incoming wave with fixed wavenumber $k$--energy is not fixed. To gain a deeper understanding of this phenomenon we t…
The p-n junction constructed from the group-10 TMDCs, or namely, transition metal dichalcogenides with an intrinsic layered structure, is not considerably reported. This study presents a mechanical exfoliation-based technique to prepare PtS2 pyramids Si p-n junctions for an investigation of the tunneling and breakdown diodes. the demonstrated p-n diode exhibited a high rectifying performance reaching a rectification ration (If/Ir) to 7.2 *10^4 at zero gate bias with an ideality factor of 1.5. The zener tunneling was observed at a low reverse bias region of breakdown voltage (from -6 to -1V) at…
Most theoretical studies of tunneling in Dirac and the closely related Weyl semimetals have modeled these materials as single Weyl nodes described by the three-dimensional Dirac equation $H = v_f \vec{p}\cdot\vecσ$. The influence of scattering between the different valleys centered around different Weyl nodes, and the Fermi arc states which connect these nodes are hence not evident from these studies. In this work we study the tunneling in a thin film system of the Dirac semimetal $\text{Na}_3\text{Bi}$ consisting of a central segment with a gate potential, sandwiched between identical semi-in…
Tunneling measurements on 2D electron gases at high magnetic field reveal a qualitative difference between the two spin sublevels of the lowest Landau level. While the tunneling current-voltage characteristic at filling factor $ν= 1/2$ is a single peak shifted from zero bias by a Coulomb pseudogap, the spectrum at $ν=3/2$ shows a well-resolved double peak structure. This difference is present regardless of whether $ν=1/2$ and $ν= 3/2$ occur at the same or different magnetic fields. No analogous effect is seen at $ν= 5/2$ and 7/2 in the first excited Landau level.
Dirac-Weyl semimetals are unique three-dimensional (3D) phases of matter with gapless electrons and novel electrodynamic properties believed to be robust against weak perturbations. Here, we unveil the crucial influence of the disorder statistics and impurity diversity in the stability of incompressible electrons in 3D semimetals. Focusing on the critical role played by rare impurity configurations, we show that the abundance of low-energy resonances in the presence of diluted random potential wells endows rare localized zero-energy modes with statistical significance, thus lifting the nodal d…
Weyl semimetals (WSMs) constitute a 3D phase with linearly-dispersing Weyl excitations at low energy, which lead to unusual electrodynamic responses and open Fermi arcs on boundaries. We derive a simple criterion to identify and characterize WSMs in an interacting setting using the exact electronic Green's function at zero frequency, which defines a topological Bloch Hamiltonian. We apply this criterion by numerically analyzing, via cluster and other methods, interacting lattice models with and without time-reversal symmetry. We identify various mechanisms for how interactions move and renorma…
The modern semiclassical theory of a Bloch electron in a magnetic field encompasses the orbital magnetization and geometric phase. Beyond this semiclassical theory lies the quantum description of field-induced tunneling between semiclassical orbits, known as magnetic breakdown. Here, we synthesize the modern semiclassical notions with quantum tunneling -- into a single Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule that is predictive of magnetic energy levels. This rule is applicable to a host of topological solids with \emph{unremovable} geometric phase, that also \emph{unavoidably} undergo breakdown. A n…
We study the zero temperature conductance and magnetoconductance of ballistic \textit{p-n} junctions in Weyl semimetals. Electron transport is mediated by Klein tunneling between \textit{n}- and \textit{p}- regions. The chiral anomaly that is realized in Weyl semimetals plays a crucial role in the magnetoconductance of the junction. With the exception of field orientations where the angle between $\mathbf{B}$ and the junction plane is small, magnetoconductance is positive and linear in $B$ at both weak and strong magnetic fields. In contrast, magnetoconductance in conventional \textit{p-n} jun…
Three-dimensional Weyl semimetals have pairs of topologically protected Weyl nodes, whose projections onto the surface Brillouin zone are the end points of zero energy surface states called Fermi arcs. At the endpoints of the Fermi arcs, surface states extend into and are hybridized with the bulk. Here, we consider a two-dimensional junction of two identical Weyl semimetals whose surfaces are twisted with respect to each other and tunnel-coupled. Confining ourselves to commensurate angles (such that a larger unit cell preserves a reduced translation symmetry at the interface) enables us to ana…
In Weyl semimetals, there is an intriguing possibility of realizing a pseudo-magnetic field in presence of small strain due to certain special cases of static deformations. This pseudo-magnetic field can be large enough to form quantized Landau levels and thus become observable in Weyl semimetals. In this paper, we experimentally show the emergence of a pseudo-magnetic field (~ 3 Tesla) by Scanning Tunneling Spectroscopy (STS) on the doped Weyl semimetal Re-MoTe2, where distinct Landau level oscillations in the tunneling conductance are clearly resolved. The crystal lattice is intrinsically st…
Following the intense studies on topological insulators, significant efforts have recently been devoted to the search for gapless topological systems. These materials not only broaden the topological classification of matter but also provide a condensed matter realization of various relativistic particles and phenomena previously discussed mainly in high energy physics. Weyl semimetals host massless, chiral, low-energy excitations in the bulk electronic band structure, whereas a symmetry protected pair of Weyl fermions gives rise to massless Dirac fermions. We employed scanning tunneling micro…
Fermi liquid theory works very well in most normal metals, but is found violated in many strongly correlated electron systems, such as cuprate and heavy-fermion superconductors. A widely accepted criterion is that, the Fermi liquid theory is valid when the interaction-induced fermion damping rate approaches zero more rapidly than the energy. Otherwise, it is invalid. Here, we demonstrate that this criterion breaks down in topological double-and triple-Weyl semimetals. Renormalization group analysis reveals that, although the damping rate of double- and triple-Weyl fermions induced by the Coulo…
We investigate the tunneling of quasiparticles through a rectangular potential barrier of finite height and width, in 2d and 3d semimetals with band structures consisting of a quadratic band crossing point. We compute the transmission coefficient at various incident angles, and also demonstrate the behaviour of the conductivity and the Fano factor. We discuss the distinguishing signatures of these transport properties in comparison with other semimetals, as well as electrons in normal metals.
Weyl semimetals may open a new era in condensed matter physics, materials science and nanotech after graphene and topological insulators. We report the first atomic scale view of the surface states of a Weyl semimetal (NbP) using scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy. We observe coherent quantum interference patterns that arise from the scattering of quasiparticles near point defects on the surface. The measurements reveal the surface electronic structure both below and above the chemical potential in both real and reciprocal spaces. Moreover, the interference maps uncover the scattering …
We study Landau levels (LLs) of Weyl semimetal (WSM) with two adjacent Weyl nodes. We consider different orientations $η=\angle(\mathbf{B},\mathbf{k}_0)$ of magnetic field $\mathbf{B}$ with respect to $\mathbf{k}_0$, the vector of Weyl nodes splitting. Magnetic field facilitates the tunneling between the nodes giving rise to a gap in the transverse energy of the zeroth LL. We show how the spectrum is rearranged at different $η$ and how this manifests itself in the change of behavior of differential magnetoconductance $dG(B)/dB$ of a ballistic $p$-$n$ junction. Unlike the single-cone model wher…
We investigate the tunneling conductance of Weyl semimetal with tilted energy dispersion by considering electron transmission through a p-n-p junction with one-dimensional electric and magnetic barrier. In the presence of both electric and magnetic barriers, we found that a large conductance gap can be produced by the aid of tilted energy dispersion without a band gap. The origin of this effect is the shift of the electrons wave-vector at barrier boundaries caused by i) the pseudo-magnetic field induced by electrical potential, i.e., a newly discovered feature that is only possible in the mate…
We investigate single-particle ballistic scattering on a rectangular barrier in the nodal-line Weyl semimetals. Since the system under study has a crystallographic anisotropy, the scattering properties are dependent on mutual orientation of the crystalline axis and the barrier. To account for the anisotropy, we examine two different barrier orientations. It is demonstrated that, for certain angles of incidence, the incoming particle passes through the barrier with probability of unity. This is a manifestation of the Klein tunneling, a familiar phenomenon in the context of graphene and semimeta…
The equality between the spectral, directional emittance and absorptance of an object under local thermal equilibrium is known as Kirchhoff's law of radiation. The breakdown of Kirchhoff's law of radiation is physically allowed by breaking time reversal symmetry and can open opportunities for nonreciprocal light emitters and absorbers. Large anomalous Hall conductivity and angle recently observed in topological Weyl semimetals, particularly type-I magnetic Weyl semimetals and type-II Weyl semimetals, are expected to create large nonreciprocal electromagnetic wave propagation. In this work, we …
We report a study of quantum oscillations in the high-field magneto-resistance of the nodal-line semimetal HfSiS. In the presence of a magnetic field up to 31 T parallel to the c-axis, we observe quantum oscillations originating both from orbits of individual electron and hole pockets, and from magnetic breakdown between these pockets. In particular, we find an oscillation associated with a breakdown orbit enclosing one electron and one hole pocket in the form of a `figure of eight'. This observation represents an experimental confirmation of the momentum space analog of Klein tunneling. When …
Recent transport experiments have revealed the activation of longitudinal magnetoresistance of Weyl semimetals in the quantum limit, suggesting the breakdown of chiral anomaly in a strong magnetic field. Here we provide a general mechanism for gapping the zeroth chiral Landau levels applicable for both Dirac and Weyl semimetals. Our result shows that the zeroth Landau levels anticross when the magnetic axis is perpendicular to the Dirac/Weyl node separation and when the inverse magnetic length $l_B^{-1}$ is comparable to the node separation scale $Δk$. The induced bulk gap increases rapidly be…
We develop an effective surface theory for the surface states of a Weyl semimetal. This theory includes the peculiar Fermi arc states on the surface as well as leakage of the states from the surface to the bulk. Subjecting the model to a magnetic field perpendicular to the surface results in quantum oscillations. The oscillations are different from the usual ones since they do not involve a closed Fermi surface cross section. It has been shown previously that the Quantum oscillations can be understood semiclassically as resulting from motion of electrons on the surface Fermi arcs as well as tu…
We investigate electronic transport in epitaxial Fe(100)/MgO/Fe/MgO/Fe double magnetic tunnel junctions with soft barrier breakdown (hot spots). Specificity of these junctions are continious middle layer and Nitrogen doping of the MgO barriers which provides soft breakdown at biases about 0.5V. In the junctions with hot spots we observe quasi-periodic changes in the resistance as a function of bias voltage which point out formation of quantum well states in the middle Fe continuous free layer. The room-temperature oscillations have been observed in both parallel and antiparallel magnetic confi…
Internodal dynamics of quasiparticles in Weyl semimetals manifest themselves in hydrodynamic, transport and thermodynamic phenomena and are essential for potential valleytronic applications of these systems. In an external magnetic field, coherent quasiparticle tunnelling between the nodes modifies the quasiparticle dispersion and, in particular, opens gaps in the dispersion of quasiparticles at the zeroth Landau level. We study magnetotransport in a Weyl semimetal taking into account mechanisms of quasiparticle scattering both affected by such gaps and independent of them. We compute the long…
We study the effect of the interplay between the Rashba and the Dresselhaus spin-orbit couplings on the transverse electron focusing in two-dimensional electron gases. Depending on their relative magnitude, the presence of both couplings can result in the splitting of the first focusing peak into two or three. This splitting has information about the relative value of spin-orbit couplings and therefore about the shape of the Fermi surface. More interesting, the presence of the third peak is directly related to the tunneling probability ("magnetic breakdown") between orbits corresponding to the…
We examine the possibility of creating the Moore-Read Pfaffian in the lowest Landau level when the multicomponent Halperin 331 state (believed to describe quantum Hall bilayers and wide quantum wells at the filling factor $ν=1/2$) is destroyed by the increase of tunneling. Using exact diagonalization of the bilayer Hamiltonian with short-range and long-range (Coulomb) interactions in spherical and periodic rectangular geometries, we establish that tunneling is a perturbation that drives the 331 state into a compressible composite Fermi liquid, with the possibility for an intermediate critical …
We study transport through a Weyl semimetal quantum dot sandwiched between an $s$-wave superconductor and a normal lead. The conductance peaks at regular intervals and exhibits double periodicity with respect to two characteristic frequencies of the system, one that originates from Klein tunneling in the system and the other coming from the chiral nature of the excitations. Using a scattering matrix approach as well as a lattice simulation, we demonstrate the universal features of the conductance through the system and discuss the feasibility of observing them in experiments.
We show how the axial (chiral) anomaly induces a spin torque on the magnetization in magnetic Weyl semimetals. The anomaly produces an imbalance in left- and right-handed chirality carriers when non-orthogonal electric and magnetic fields are applied. Such imbalance generates a spin density which exerts a torque on the magnetization, the strength of which can be controlled by the intensity of the applied electric field. We show how this results in an electric control of the chirality of domain walls, as well as in an improvement of the domain wall dynamics, by delaying the onset of the Walker …
We propose a device in which a sheet of graphene is coupled to a Weyl semimetal, allowing for the physical access to the study of tunneling from two-dimensional to three dimensional massless Dirac fermions. Due to the reconstructed band structure, we find that this device acts as a robust valley filter for electrons in the graphene sheet. We show that, by appropriate alignment, the Weyl semimetal draws away current in one of the two graphene valleys while allowing current in the other to pass unimpeded. In contrast to other proposed valley filters, the mechanism of our proposed device occurs i…
Similar to Weyl semimetals, in magnetic materials, magnon bands can host Weyl points, around which the bosonic excitations are called Weyl magnons. Here, we investigate the Klein tunneling of Weyl magnons, during the process of which Weyl magnons tunnel through a high potential barrier. Specifically, we study the magnetization current carried by Weyl magnons in a quasi-one-dimensional magnetic wire, in the middle of which a gate magnetic field is applied to generate a potential barrier. The transmission probability is calculated and the Landauer-Büttiker formalism is used to find the magnetiza…

We study the low-energy single-electron transport across a junction of two magnetic Weyl semimetals, in which the anisotropy axes are tilted one respect to the other. Using a two-band model with a potential step, we compute the transmission factor for normal and Klein tunneling and the refraction properties of the interface as a function of the tilt angle. We show that the interface acts as a beam splitter, separating electrons with different chiralities. We also characterize interface states, only appearing for finite tilt angle, which connect the projection of the Fermi surfaces on the two s…
We propose a general method to realize and calculate the transmission in a Weyl semimetal (WSM) heterostructure by employing a periodic three-dimensional topoelectrical (TE) circuit network. By drawing the analogy between inductor-capacitor circuit lattices and quantum mechanical tight-binding (TB) models, we show that the energy flux in a TE network is analogous to the probability flux in a TB Hamiltonian. TE systems offer a key advantage in that they can be easily tuned to achieve different topological WSM phases simply by varying the capacitances and inductances. The above analogy opens the…
A van der Waals coupled Weyl semimetal material NbIrTe4 is investigated by combining scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy and first principles calculations. We observe a sharp peak in the tunneling conductance near the zero bias energy, and its origin is ascribed to a van Hove singularity associated with a Lifshitz transition of the topologically none trivial Fermi arc states. Furthermore, tunneling spectroscopy measurements show a surprisingly large signature of electron boson coupling, which presumably represents anomalously enhanced electron phonon coupling through the enhanced charge…
We observed quantum oscillations in thermoelectric and magnetic torque signals in non-centrosymmetric superconductor PbTaSe$_2$. One oscillatory frequency stems from the orbits formed by magnetic breakdown, while others are from two-dimensional-like Fermi surfaces near the topological nodal rings. Our comprehensive understanding of the Fermi surface topology of PbTaSe$_2$, including nailing down the Fermi level and detecting the Berry phases near the nodal rings, is crucial for searching plausible topological superconductivity in its bulk and surface states.
Weyl semimetals constitute a newly discovered class of three-dimensional topological materials with linear touchings of valence and conduction bands in the bulk. The most striking property of topological origin in these materials, so far unequivocally observed only in photoemission experiments, is the presence of open constant-energy contours at the boundary --- the so-called Fermi arcs. In this work, we establish the universal characteristics of Fermi-arc contributions to surface quasiparticle interference. Using a general phenomenological model, we determine the defining interference pattern…
A space-time dependent node separation in Weyl semimetals acts as an axial vector field. Coupled with domain wall motion in magnetic Weyl semimetals, this induces axial electric and magnetic fields localized at the domain wall. We show how these fields can activate the axial (chiral) anomaly and provide a direct experimental signature of it. Specifically, a domain wall provides a spatially dependent Weyl node separation and an axial magnetic field $\textbf{B}_5$, and domain wall movement, driven by an external magnetic field, gives the Weyl node separation a time dependence, inducing an axial …
Weyl semimetals with time reversal symmetry breaking are expected to show various fascinating physical behaviors, such as intrinsic giant anomalous Hall effect, chiral anomaly effect in the bulks, and Fermi arcs on the surfaces. Here we report a scanning tunneling microscopy study on the magnetic Weyl semimetal candidate Co$_3$Sn$_2$S$_2$. According to the morphology and local density of states of the surface, we provide assignments to different surface terminations. The measured local density of states reveals a semimetal gap of ~300 mV, which is further verified as the gap in spin-minority b…
We report a detailed Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) study on the Weyl type-II semimetal WTe2 in magnetic fields up to 29 T. By using the SdH results to guide our density functional theory calculations, we are able to accurately determine its Fermi surface by employing a moderate Hubbard U term, which is an essential step in explaining the unusual electronic properties of this much studied material. In addition to the fundamental orbits, we observe magnetic breakdown, which can consistently be explained within the model of a Russian-doll-nested Fermi surface of electron and hole pockets. The onset of …
The first Weyl semimetal was recently discovered in the NbP class of compounds. Although the topology of these novel materials has been identified, the surface properties are not yet fully understood. By means of scanning tunneling spectroscopy, we find that NbPs (001) surface hosts a pair of Dirac cones protected by mirror symmetry. Through our high resolution spectroscopic measurements, we resolve the quantum interference patterns arising from these novel Dirac fermions, and reveal their electronic structure, including the linear dispersions. Our data, in agreement with our theoretical calcu…
The superconducting s-wave state in Weyl semimetals in a strong strain-induced pseudomagnetic field is investigated in a model with local four-fermion interaction. It is found that only the inter-node pairing is possible in the lowest pseudo-Landau level approximation. Unlike the case of the lowest Landau level in a conventional magnetic field, the corresponding gap equation has only a trivial solution. Nevertheless, superconductivity can be induced via the proximity effect with a usual s-wave spin-singlet superconductor. Since a pseudomagnetic field is present necessarily at the surface of a …
We report a study of quantum oscillations (QO) in the magnetic torque of the nodal-line Dirac semimetal ZrSiS in the magnetic fields up to 35 T and the temperature range from 40 K down to 2 K, enabling high resolution mapping of the Fermi surface (FS) topology in the $k_z=π$ (Z-R-A) plane of the first Brillouin zone (FBZ). It is found that the oscillatory part of the measured magnetic torque signal consists of low frequency (LF) contributions (frequencies up to 1000 T) and high frequency (HF) contributions (several clusters of frequencies from 7-22 kT). Increased resolution and angle-resolved …
