This paper is aimed to prove a quantitative estimate (in terms of the modulus of continuity) for the convergence in the nonlinear version of Korovkin's theorem for sequences of weakly nonlinear and monotone operators defined on spaces of continuous real functions. Several examples illustrating the theory are included.
We give some Korovkin-type theorems on convergence and estimates of rates of approximations of nets of functions, satisfying suitable axioms, whose particular cases are filter/ideal convergence, almost convergence and triangular A-statistical convergence, where A is a non-negative summability method. Furthermore, we give some applications to Mellin-type convolution and bivariate Kantorovich-type discrete operators.
In this paper we deal with the convergence of sequences of positive linear maps to a (not assumed to be linear) isometry on spaces of continuous functions. We obtain generalizations of known Korovkin-type results and provide several illustrative examples.
By extending the classical quantitative approximation results for positive and linear operators in $L^{p}([0, 1]), 1\le p \le +\infty$ of Berens and DeVore in 1978 and of Swetits and Wood in 1983 to the more general case of sublinear, monotone and strongly translatable operators, in this paper we obtain quantitative estimates in terms of the second order and third order moduli of smoothness, in Korovkin type theorems. Applications to concrete examples are included and an open question concerning interpolation theory for sublinear, monotone and strongly translatable operators is raised.
In this paper we prove analogues of Korovkin's theorem in the context of weakly nonlinear and monotone operators acting on Banach lattices of functions of several variables. Our results concern the convergence almost everywhere, the convergence in measure and the convergence in $L^{p}$-norm. Several results illustrating the theory are also included.
In this paper we investigate some Korovkin type approximation properties of the q-Meyer-König and Zeller operators and Durrmeyer variant of the q-Meyer-König and Zeller operators via Abel summability method which is a sequence-to-function transformation and which extends the ordinary convergence. We show that the approximation results obtained in this paper are more general than some previous results. Finally, we obtain the rate of Abel convergence for the corresponding operators.
Our main aim is to investigate the approximation properties for the summation integral type operators in a statistical sense. In this regard, we prove the statistical convergence theorem using well known Korovkin theorem and the degree of approximation is determined. Also using weight function, the weighted statistical convergence theorem with the help of Korovkin theorem is obtained. The statistical rate of convergence in the terms of modulus of continuity and function belonging to the Lipschitz class is obtained. To support the convergence results of the proposed operators to the function, g…
The present work considers two important convergence techniques, namely deferred type statistical convergence and P-summability method in respect of positive linear operators. With regard to these techniques, we state and prove two general non-trivial Korovkin type approximation results for such operators. Further, we define an operator based on multivariate q-Lagrange-Hermite polynomials and exhibit the applicability of our general theorems.
This paper deals with the modified q-Stancu-Beta operators and we have investigated the statistical approximation theorems for these operators with the help of the Korovkin type approximation theorem. We have also established the rates of statistical convergence by means of the modulus of continuity and the Lipschitz type maximal function. Our results show that the rates of convergence of our operators are at least as fast as the classical Stancu-Beta operators.
We provide quantitative information in the form of a rate of metastability in the sense of T. Tao and (under a metric regularity assumption) a rate of convergence for an algorithm approximating zeros of differences of maximally monotone operators due to A. Moudafi by using techniques from `proof mining', a subdiscipline of mathematical logic. For the rate of convergence, we provide an abstract and general result on the construction of rates of convergence for quasi-Fejér monotone sequences with metric regularity assumptions, generalizing previous results for Fejér monotone sequences due to U. …
We give a quantitative analysis of a theorem due to Fenghui Wang and Huanhuan Cui concerning the convergence of a multi-parametric version of the proximal point algorithm. Wang and Cui's result ensures the convergence of the algorithm to a zero of the operator. Our quantitative analysis provides explicit bounds on the metastability (in the sense of Terence Tao) for the convergence and the asymptotic regularity of the iteration. Moreover, our analysis bypasses the need of sequential weak compactness and only requires a weak form of the metric projection argument.
We study a convergence criterion which generalises the notion of being monotonically decreasing, and introduce a quantitative version of this criterion, a so called metastable rate of asymptotic decreasingness. We then present a concrete application in the fixed point theory of uniformly convex Banach spaces, in which we carry out a quantitative analysis of a convergence proof of Kirk and Sims. More precisely, we produce a rate of metastability (in the sense of Tao) for the Picard iterates of mappings T which satisfy a variant of the convergence criterion, and whose fixed point set has nonempt…
In the setting of hyperbolic spaces, we show that the convergence of Browder-type sequences and Halpern iterations respectively entail the convergence of their viscosity version with a Rakotch map. We also show that the convergence of a hybrid viscosity version of the Krasnoselskii-Mann iteration follows from the convergence of the Browder type sequence. Our results follow from proof-theoretic techniques (proof mining). From an analysis of theorems due to T. Suzuki, we extract a transformation of rates for the original Browder type and Halpern iterations into rates for the corresponding viscos…
We provide in a unified way quantitative forms of strong convergence results for numerous iterative procedures which satisfy a general type of Fejer monotonicity where the convergence uses the compactness of the underlying set. These quantitative versions are in the form of explicit rates of so-called metastability in the sense of T. Tao. Our approach covers examples ranging from the proximal point algorithm for maximal monotone operators to various fixed point iterations (x_n) for firmly nonexpansive, asymptotically nonexpansive, strictly pseudo-contractive and other types of mappings. Many o…
We study Krasnoselskii-Mann style iterative algorithms for approximating fixpoints of asymptotically weakly contractive mappings, with a focus on providing generalised convergence proofs along with explicit rates of convergence. More specifically, we define a new notion of being asymptotically $ψ$-weakly contractive with modulus, and present a series of abstract convergence theorems which both generalise and unify known results from the literature. Rates of convergence are formulated in terms of our modulus of contractivity, in conjunction with other moduli and functions which form quantitativ…
