We present CosmoGridV1: a large set of lightcone simulations for map-level cosmological inference with probes of large scale structure. It is designed for cosmological parameter measurement based on Stage-III photometric surveys with non-Gaussian statistics and machine learning. CosmoGridV1 spans the $w$CDM model by varying $Ω_m$, $σ_8$, $w_0$, $H_0$, $n_s$, $Ω_b$, and assumes three degenerate neutrinos with $\sum m_ν$ = 0.06 eV. This space is covered by 2500 grid points on a Sobol sequence. At each grid point, we run 7 simulations with PkdGrav3 and store 69 particle maps at nside=2048 up to $z$=3.5, as well as halo catalog snapshots. The fiducial cosmology has 200 independent simulations, along with their stencil derivatives. An important part of CosmoGridV1 is the benchmark set of 28 simulations, which include larger boxes, higher particle counts, and higher redshift resolution of shells. They allow for testing if new types of analyses are sensitive to choices made in CosmoGridV1. We add baryon feedback effects on the map level, using shell-based baryon correction model. The shells are used to create maps of weak gravitational lensing, intrinsic alignment, and galaxy clustering, using the UFalcon code. The main part of CosmoGridV1 are the raw particle count shells that can be used to create full-sky maps for a given $n(z)$. We also release projected maps for a Stage-III forecast, as well as maps used previously in KiDS-1000 deep learning constraints with CosmoGridV1. The data is available at www.cosmogrid.ai.
The possibility of reconstructing a spherically symmetric inhomogeneous Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) model with $Λ$CDM observations has drawn a lot of attention. Recently, a LTB model having the same luminosity-distance and light-cone mass density as the $Λ$CDM model was reconstructed. We calculate the cosmic age at our position in this model, and get the age $t_{LTB}<11.7$Gyr in 2$σ$ confidence level from the Seven-Year WMAP observations. This result is inconsistent with some Milky Way observations.
Over the last nine years of cosmic microwave background observations, the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe ($WMAP$) results were consistent with a $Λ$CDM cosmological model in which the age of the Universe is one Hubble time, and the time-averaged value of the deceleration parameter is consistent with zero. This curious observation has been put forward as a new coincidence problem for the $Λ$CDM concordance cosmology, which is in fact a `greater' coincidence than the near equality of the density parameters of matter and the cosmological constant. At the moment of writing these conference p…
The cosmic large-scale structure of our Universe is comprised of baryons and cold dark matter (CDM). Yet it is customary to treat these two components as a combined single-matter fluid with vanishing pressure, which is justified only for sufficiently large scales and late times. Here we go beyond the single-fluid approximation and develop the perturbation theory for two gravitationally coupled fluids while still assuming vanishing pressure. We mostly focus on perturbative expansions in powers of $D$ (or $D_+$), the linear structure growth of matter in a $Λ$CDM Universe with cosmological consta…
We study Modified Chaplygin Gas (MCG) as a candidate for dark energy and predict the values of parameters of the gas for a physically viable cosmological model. The equation of state of MCG ($p=B ρ- \frac {A}{ρ^α} $) involves three parameters: $B$, $A$ and $α$. The permitted values of these parameters are determined with the help of dimensionless age parameter ($H_{o}t_{o}$) and $H(z)-z$ Data. Specifically we study the allowed ranges of values of B parameter in terms of $α$ and $A_{s}$ ($A_{s}$ is defined in terms of the constants in the theory). We explore the constraints of the parameters in…

Type Ia Supernovae, calibrated by classical distance ladder methods, can be used, in conjunction with galaxy survey two-point correlation functions, to empirically determine the size of the sound horizon $r_{\rm s}$. Assumption of the $Λ$CDM model, together with data to constrain its parameters, can also be used to determine the size of the sound horizon. Using a variety of cosmic microwave background (CMB) datasets to constrain $Λ$CDM parameters, we find the model-based sound horizon to be larger than the empirically-determined one with a statistical significance of between 2 and 3$σ$, depend…
We use the emulation framework CosmoPower to construct and publicly release neural network emulators of cosmological observables, including the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature and polarization power spectra, matter power spectrum, distance-redshift relation, baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) and redshift-space distortion (RSD) observables, and derived parameters. We train our emulators on Einstein-Boltzmann calculations obtained with high-precision numerical convergence settings, for a wide range of cosmological models including $Λ$CDM, $w$CDM, $Λ$CDM+$N_\mathrm{eff}$, and $Λ$CDM…
I present a large set of high resolution simulations, called CosmicGrowth Simulations, which were generated with either 8.6 billion or 29 billion particles. As the nominal cosmological model that can match nearly all observations on cosmological scales, I have adopted a flat Cold Dark Matter (CDM) model with a cosmological constant $Λ$ ($Λ$CDM). The model parameters have been taken either from the latest result of the WMAP satellite (WMAP $Λ$CDM) or from the first year's result of the Planck satellite (Planck $Λ$CDM). Six simulations are produced in the $Λ$CDM models with two in the Planck mod…
We discuss bulk viscous cosmological models. Since the bulk viscous pressure is negative, viable viscous cosmological scenarios with late time accelerated expansion can in principle be constructed. After discussing some alternative models based on bulk viscous effects we will focus on a model very similar to the standard $Λ$CDM. We argue that a $Λ${\rm v}CDM model, where we assign a very small (albeit perceptible) bulk viscosity to dark matter is in agreement with available cosmological observations. Hence, we work with the concept of viscous Cold Dark Matter ({\rm v}CDM). At the level of the …
We study the $Λ(α)$CDM models with $Λ(α)$ being a function of the time-varying fine structure constant $α$. We give a close look at the constraints on two specific $Λ(α)$CDM models with one and two model parameters, respectively, based on the cosmological observational measurements along with 313 data points for the time-varying $α$. We find that the model parameters are constrained to be around $10^{-4}$, which are similar to the results discussed previously but more accurately.
We update the constraints on the cosmological parameters by adopting the Planck data released in 2015 and Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) measurements including the new DR14 quasar sample measurement at redshift $z=1.52$, and we conclude that the based six-parameter $Λ$CDM model is preferred. Exploring some extensions to the $Λ$CDM models, we find that the equation of state of dark energy reads $w=-1.036\pm 0.056$ in the $w$CDM model, the effective relativistic degrees of freedom in the Universe is $N_\text{eff}=3.09_{-0.20}^{+0.18}$ in the $N_\text{eff}+Λ$CDM model and the spatial curvature…
A type of exponential correction to General Relativity gives viable modified gravity model of dark energy. The model behaves as $R-2Λ$ at large curvature where an effective cosmological constant appears, but it becomes zero in flat space time. The cosmic evolution of the main density parameters is consistent with current observations. The thin shell conditions for the Solar system were analyzed. Apart from satisfying cosmological and local gravity restrictions, the model may also show measurable differences with $Λ$CDM at recent times. The current value of the deviation parameter $m$ for scale…
Within the $Λ$CDM cosmological model, the absolute value of Einstein's cosmological constant $Λ$, sometimes expressed as the gravitating mass-energy density $ρ_Λ$ of the physical vacuum, is a fundamental constant of nature, whose accurate measurement plays a central role in testing some proposed theories of quantum gravity. Several combinations of currently public cosmological data and an assumed flat $Λ$CDM cosmological model are used here to make a joint Bayesian inference on the combination of conventional parameters $Ω_Λh^2$ that corresponds to the absolute physical density $ρ_Λ$. In physi…
In this talk I will review the current status of the constraints on the neutrino properties from cosmological measurements, with a particular focus on their mass and effective number. I will also discuss the existing tensions within the context of the \lcdm\ model, including the discrepancies on the Hubble parameter and on the matter fluctuations at small scales, and how neutrinos could help to alleviate the aforementioned problems.
Quasi-N-body simulations, such as FastPM, provide a fast way to simulate cosmological structure formation, but have yet to adequately include the effects of massive neutrinos. We present a method to include neutrino particles in FastPM, enabling computation of the CDM and total matter power spectra to percent-level accuracy in the non-linear regime. The CDM-neutrino cross-power can also be computed at a sufficient accuracy to constrain cosmological observables. To avoid the shot noise that typically plagues neutrino particle simulations, we employ a quasi-random algorithm to sample the relevan…
We investigated the evolution of the background expansion and the growth rate of the matter density fluctuations in the scalar field $ϕ$CDM Ratra-Peebles model. We constrained the model parameter $α$ and the matter density parameter $Ω_{\rm m}$ using the recent measurements of the growth rate of the matter density fluctuations and baryon acoustic oscillation peak position. In addition, we studied a number of the $ϕ$CDM scalar field models in order to determine whether or not it would be possible to discriminate them from the $Λ$CDM model using predicted data for the future Dark Energy Spectros…

We constrain three cosmological models, i.e. the concordance cold dark matter plus a cosmological constant ($Λ$CDM) model, Power-law (PL) model, and $R_h=ct$ model using the available local probes, which includes the JLA compilation of type-Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), the direct measurement of Hubble constant (H(z)), and the baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO). For $Λ$CDM model, we consider two different cases, i.e. zero and non-zero spatial curvature. We find that by using the JLA alone, it is indistinguishable between $Λ$CDM and PL models, but the $R_h=ct$ model is strongly disfavored. If we comb…
We use different combinations of data samples to investigate the new generalized Chaplygin gas (NGCG) model in the context of dark energy (DE) cosmology. Using the available cosmological data, we put constraints on the the free parameters of NGCG model based on the statistical Markov chain Monte Carlo method. We then find the best fit values of cosmological parameters and those confidence regions in NGCG cosmology. Our result for the matter density parameter calculated in NGCG model is in excellent agreement with that of the standard CDM cosmology. We also find that the equation of state of DE…
Mapping the unresolved intensity of the 21-cm emission of neutral hydrogen (HI) is now regarded as one the most promising tools for cosmological investigation in the coming decades. Here, we investigate, for the first time, extensions of the standard cosmological model, such as modified gravity and primordial non-Gaussianity, taking self-consistently into account the present constraints on the astrophysics of HI clustering in the treatment of the brightness temperature fluctuations. To understand the boundaries within which results thus obtained can be considered reliable, we examine the robus…
We analyze Brans-Dicke gravity with a cosmological constant, $Λ$, and cold dark matter (BD-$Λ$CDM for short) in the light of the latest cosmological observations on distant supernovae, Hubble rate measurements at different redshifts, baryonic acoustic oscillations, large scale structure formation data, gravitational weak-lensing and the cosmic microwave background under full Planck 2015 CMB likelihood. Our analysis includes both the background and perturbations equations. We find that BD-$Λ$CDM is observationally favored as compared to the concordance $Λ$CDM model, which is traditionally defin…
Based on tensions between the early and late time cosmology, we proposed a double valued cosmological constant which could undergo a phase transition in its history. It is named "double-$Λ$ Cold Dark Matter": $ΛΛ$CDM. An occurred phase transition results in (micro-) structures for the dark sector with a proper (local) interaction. In this paper, inspired by the physics of critical phenomena, we study a simplified model such that the cosmological constant has two values before a transition scale factor, $a_t$, and afterwards it becomes single-valued. We consider both the background and perturba…
We construct the cosmological model to explain the cosmological constant problem. We built the extension of the standard cosmological model $Λ$CDM by consideration of decaying vacuum energy represented by the running cosmological term. From the principles of quantum mechanics one can find that in the long term behavior survival probability of unstable states is a decreasing function of the cosmological time and has the inverse power-like form. This implies that cosmological constant $ρ_{\text{vac}} = Λ(t) = Λ_{\text{bare}} + \fracα{t^2}$ where $Λ_{\text{bare}}$ and $α$ are constants. We invest…
We demonstrate that, in the context of the $Λ$CDM model, it is in principle possible to measure the value of the cosmological constant by tracing, across cosmic time, the evolution of the turnaround radius of cosmic structures. The novelty of the presented method is that it is local, in the sense that it uses the effect of the cosmological constant on the relatively short scales of cosmic structures and not on the dynamics of the Universe at its largest scales. In this way, it can provide an important consistency check for the standard cosmological model and can give signs of new physics, beyo…
We perform a general test of the $Λ{\rm CDM}$ and $w {\rm CDM}$ cosmological models by comparing constraints on the geometry of the expansion history to those on the growth of structure. Specifically, we split the total matter energy density, $Ω_M$, and (for $w {\rm CDM}$) dark energy equation of state, $w$, into two parameters each: one that captures the geometry, and another that captures the growth. We constrain our split models using current cosmological data, including type Ia supernovae, baryon acoustic oscillations, redshift space distortions, gravitational lensing, and cosmic microwave…
We study the dynamical properties of dark energy based on a large family of PADE parameterizations for which the dark energy density evolves as a ratio between two polynomials in the scale factor of the universe. Using the latest cosmological data we perform a standard likelihood analysis in order to place constraints on the main cosmological parameters of different PADE models. We find that the basic cosmological parameters, namely $(Ω_{m0},h,σ_{8})$ are practically the same for all PADE parametrizations explored here. Concerning the free parameters which are related to dark energy we show th…
We show how Newtonian cosmological simulations can be employed to investigate the non-linear evolution of two particle species in a relativistic context. We discuss the application for massive neutrinos and other multi-species systems such as Cold Dark Matter (CDM) plus baryons or Warm Dark Matter (WDM). We propose a method that allows us to perform simulations including massive neutrinos and general relativistic effects at almost the same computational cost as ordinary CDM only N-body simulations, employing tailor-made initial conditions and a dictionary for the interpretation of the simulati…
A new method to constrain the cosmological equation of state is proposed by using combined samples of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and supernovae (SNeIa). The Chevallier-Polarski-Linder parameterization is adopted for the equation of state in order to find out a realistic approach to achieve the deceleration/acceleration transition phase of dark energy models. As results, we find that GRBs, calibrated by SNeIa, could be, at least, good distance indicators capable of discriminating cosmological models with respect to $Λ$CDM at high redshift. Besides, GRBs+SNeIa combined redshift-distance diagram put…
Current cosmological tensions motivate investigating extensions to the standard $Λ$CDM model. Additional model parameters are typically varied one or two at a time, in a series of separate tests. The purpose of this paper is to highlight that information is lost by not also examining the correlations between these additional parameters, which arise when their effects on model predictions are similar, even if the parameters are not varied simultaneously. We show how these correlations can be quantified with simulations and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods. As an example, we assume that $…
In a recent article, Kleidis and Spyrou (2015) proposed that both dark matter (DM) and dark energy (DE) can be treated as a single component, if accommodated in the context of a polytropic DM fluid with thermodynamical content. Depending only on the polytropic exponent, $-0.103 < Γ\leq 0$, this unified DM model reproduces to high accuracy the distance measurements performed with the aid of the supernovae Type Ia (SNe Ia) standard candles, without suffering either from the age or from the coincidence problem. To demonstrate also its compatibility with current observational data concerning struc…
The relationship linking a galaxy cluster's total mass with the concentration of its mass profile and its redshift is a fundamental prediction of the Cold Dark Matter (CDM) paradigm of cosmic structure formation. However, confronting those predictions with observations is complicated by the fact that simulated clusters are not representative of observed samples where detailed mass profile constraints are possible. In this work, we calculate the Symmetry-Peakiness-Alignment (SPA) morphology metrics for maps of X-ray emissivity from THE THREE HUNDRED project hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy …
The use of type Ic Super Luminous Supernovae (SLSN Ic) to examine the cosmological expansion introduces a new standard ruler with which to test theoretical models. The sample suitable for this kind of work now includes 11 SLSNe Ic, which have thus far been used solely in tests involving $Λ$CDM. In this paper, we broaden the base of support for this new, important cosmic probe by using these observations to carry out a one-on-one comparison between the $R_{\rm h}=ct$ and $Λ$CDM cosmologies. We individually optimize the parameters in each cosmological model by minimizing the $χ^{2}$ statistic. W…
We confront dark energy models which are currently similar to $Λ$CDM theory with observational data which include the SNe data, matter density perturbations and baryon acoustic oscillations data. DE cosmology under consideration may evolve to Big Rip, type II or type III future singularity, or to Little Rip or Pseudo-Rip universe. It is shown that matter perturbations data define more precisely the possible deviation from $Λ$CDM model than consideration of SNe data only. The combined data analysis proves that DE models under consideration are as consistent as $Λ$CDM model. We demonstrate that …
In this paper, the CMB/BAO measurements which cover the 13 redshift data in the regime $0.106 \leq z \leq 2.34$ are given out. The CMB/BAO samples are based on the BAO distance ratios $r_{s}(z_d)/D_{V}(z)$ and the CMB acoustic scales $l_{A}$. It could give out the accelerating behaviors of the $Λ$CDM, $w$CDM and o$Λ$CDM models. As the direction of the degeneracy of $Ω_{m0}-w$ and $Ω_{m0}-Ω_{k0}$ are different for the CMB/BAO and BAO data, the CMB/BAO data show ability of breaking parameter degeneracy. Our tightest constraining results is from the BAO+Planck/BAO+$Ω_{b}h^2$+$Ω_{m}h^2$ data which…
The $Λ$ cold dark matter ($Λ\textrm{CDM}$) model is currently known as the simplest cosmology model that best describes observations with minimal number of parameters. Here we introduce a cosmology model that is preferred over the conventional $Λ\textrm{CDM}$ one by constructing dark energy as the sum of the cosmological constant $Λ$ and the additional fluid that is designed to have an extremely short transient spike in energy density during the radiation-matter equality era and the early scaling behavior with radiation and matter densities. The density parameter of the additional fluid is def…
We report the findings of new exact analytical solutions to the cosmological fluid equations, namely for the case where the initial conditions are perturbatively close to a spherical top-hat profile. To do so we enable a fluid description in a Lagrangian-coordinates approach, and prove the convergence of the Taylor-series representation of the Lagrangian displacement field until the time of collapse ("shell-crossing"). This allows the determination of the time for quasi-spherical collapse, which is shown to happen generically earlier than in the spherical case. For pedagogical reasons, calcula…
We study the diffuse background free-free emission induced by dark matter halos. Since dark matter halos host ionized thermal plasma, they could be an essential source of cosmological free-free emission. We evaluate the global background intensity and the anisotropy of this free-free emission. We show that the dominant contribution comes from dark matter halos with a mass close to the Jeans mass, $M_{\mathrm{halo}}\sim 10^{10} M_\odot$, around the redshift $z \sim 3$. Therefore, the intensity of the free-free emission is sensitive to the small-scale primordial curvature perturbations that form…
We investigate in detail some popular cosmological models in light of the latest observational data, including the Union2.1 supernovae compilation, the baryon acoustic oscillation measurements from the WiggleZ Dark Energy Survey, the cosmic microwave background information from the WMAP 7-year observations along with the observational Hubble parameter data. Based on the model selection statistics such as the Akaike and the Bayesian information criterias, we compare different models to assess the worth of them. We do not assume a flat universe in the fitting. Our results show that the concordan…
We use the physically-consistent tilted spatially-flat and untilted non-flat $Λ$CDM inflation models to constrain cosmological parameter values with the Planck 2015 cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy data and recent Type Ia supernovae measurements, baryonic acoustic oscillations (BAO) data, growth rate observations, and Hubble parameter measurements. The most dramatic consequence of including the four non-CMB data sets is the significant strengthening of the evidence for non-flatness in the non-flat $Λ$CDM model, from 1.8$σ$ for the CMB data alone to 5.1$σ$ for the full data combinat…
The Galileon theory belongs to the class of modified gravity models that can explain the late-time accelerated expansion of the Universe. In previous works, cosmological constraints on the Galileon model were derived, both in the uncoupled case and with a disformal coupling of the Galileon field to matter. There, we showed that these models agree with the most recent cosmological data. In this work, we used updated cosmological data sets to derive new constraints on Galileon models, including the case of a constant conformal Galileon coupling to matter. We also explored the tracker solution of…
We place observational constraints on the Galileon ghost condensate model, a dark energy proposal in cubic-order Horndeski theories consistent with the gravitational-wave event GW170817. The model extends the covariant Galileon by taking an additional higher-order field derivative $X^2$ into account. This allows for the dark energy equation of state $w_{\rm DE}$ to access the region $-2<w_{\rm DE}<-1$ without ghosts. Indeed, this peculiar evolution of $w_{\rm DE}$ is favored over that of the cosmological constant $Λ$ from the joint data analysis of cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation, …
We perform a detailed comparison between the Logotropic model [P.H. Chavanis, Eur. Phys. J. Plus 130 (2015) 130] and the $Λ$CDM model. These two models behave similarly at large (cosmological) scales up to the present. Differences will appear only in the far future, in about $25\, {\rm Gyrs}$, when the Logotropic Universe becomes phantom while the $Λ$CDM Universe enters in the de Sitter era. However, the Logotropic model differs from the $Λ$CDM model at small (galactic) scales, where the latter encounters serious problems. Having a nonvanishing pressure, the Logotropic model can solve the cusp…
