In this paper, by means of regularisation procedure via $r\to \sqrt{r^2+l_0^2}$ (where $l_0$ can play the role of zero point length), we first modify the gravitational and electromagnetic potentials in two dimensions and then we solve the Einstein field equations to end up with an exact and regular black hole solution in three dimensions with a negative cosmological constant. We show that, the black hole solution is asymptotically AdS, non-singular at the origin and, under specific conditions, it has a flat de Sitter core at the origin. As a special case, we obtain the charged Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) solution. Finally, using a dimensional continuation and the NJ algorithm, we end up with a legitimate rotating black hole solution in three dimensions.
In this article, we present a study on thermodynamics of a class of regular black holes. Such a class includes Bardeen and Hayward regular black holes. We obtained thermodynamic quantities like the Hawking temperature, entropy, and heat capacity for the entire class. As part of an effort to indicate some physical observable to distinguish regular black holes from singular black holes, we suggest that regular black holes are colder than singular black holes. Besides, contrary to the Schwarzschild black hole, that class of regular black holes may be thermodynamically stable. From a generalized u…
In this paper we consider a BTZ black hole with minimum length which has been introduced through the probability density of the ground state of the hydrogen atom. We analyzed the effect of the minimum length by calculating the thermodynamic quantities such as temperature and entropy and verified the stability of the black hole by computing the specific heat capacity.

Standard models of "regular black holes" typically have asymptotically de Sitter regions at their cores. Herein we shall consider novel "hollow" regular black holes, those with asymptotically Minkowski cores. The reason for doing so is twofold: First, these models greatly simplify the physics in the deep core, and second, one can trade off rather messy cubic and quartic polynomial equations for somewhat more elegant special functions such as exponentials and the increasingly important Lambert $W$ function. While these "hollow" regular black holes share many features with the Bardeen/Hayward/Fr…
Using a nonlinear electrodynamics coupled to General Relativity a new regular exact black hole solution is found. The nonlinear theory reduces to the Maxwell one in the weak limit, and the solution corresponds to a charged black hole for |q| \leq 2s_c m \approx 1.05 m, with metric, curvature invariants, and electric field regular everywhere.
Plenty of efforts have been made to explore the black string and its instability, but the fate of the black strings with fewer extra dimensions is still inconclusive. Now starting from the 5D uniform black string, we show that the EHT observations of M87* and SgrA* can not only rule out the black string with an infinite extra dimension, but also constrain the length of a compact extra dimension, which is much smaller than the critical length given from the Gregory-Laflamme (GL) instability. Our findings support the hypothesis that the extra dimension is compact avoiding the GL instability.
It was argued in a number of papers that the gravitational potential calculated by using the modified QFT that follows from the Planck-length deformed uncertainty relation implies the existence of black-hole remnants of the order of the Planck-mass. Usually this sort of QFTs are endowed with two specific features, the modified dispersion relation, which is universal, and the concept of minimum length, which, however, is not universal. While the emergence of the minimum-length most readily leads to the idea of the black hole remnants, here we examine the behaviour of the potential that follows …
We use the causal horizon entropy to study the asymptotic behaviors of regular AdS black holes. In some literature, the causal horizon entropy is regarded as a generalized holographic $c$-function. In this paper, we apply this idea to the case of regular AdS black holes. We show that the causal horizon entropy decreases to zero at the center of regular AdS black holes and in particular it is stationary because its derivative with respect to the affine parameter approaches zero asymptotically. Meanwhile, the asymptotic behavior of the metric of regular AdS black holes implies that the black hol…
The destruction of a regular black hole event horizon might provide us the possibility to access regions inside black hole event horizon. This paper investigates the possibility of overcharging a charged Taub-NUT regular black hole via the scattering of a charged field and the absorption of a charged particle. For the charged scalar field scattering, both the near-extremal and extremal charged Taub-NUT regular black holes cannot be overcharged. For the test charged particle absorption, the result shows that the event horizon of the extremal charged Taub-NUT regular black hole still exists whil…
It is shown that the near horizon geometry of a generic extreme regular black hole solution of Einstein gravity coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics is described by the $AdS_2 \times S^2$ spacetime.
We discuss the recently discovered new class of globally regular and black hole solutions in Einstein-Yang-Mills and Einstein-Yang-Mills-dilaton theory. These asymptotically flat solutions are static and possess only axial symmetry. The black hole solutions possess a regular event horizon.
We review the main consequences of the possible existence of a minimum measurable length, of the order of the Planck scale, on quantum effects occurring in black hole physics. In particular, we focus on the ensuing minimum mass for black holes and how modified dispersion relations affect the Hawking decay, both in four space-time dimensions and in models with extra spatial dimensions. In the latter case, we briefly discuss possible phenomenological signatures.
We compute the black hole horizon entanglement entropy for a massless scalar field in the brick wall model by incorporating the minimal length. Taking the minimal length effects on the occupation number $n(ω,l)$ and the Hawking temperature into consideration, we obtain the leading UV divergent term and the subleading logarithmic term in the entropy. The leading divergent term scales with the horizon area. The subleading logarithmic term is the same as that in the usual brick wall model without the minimal length.
The first regular exact black hole solution in General Relativity is presented. The source is a nonlinear electrodynamic field satisfying the weak energy condition, which in the limit of weak field becomes the Maxwell field. The solution corresponds to a charged black hole with |q| \leq 2 s_c m \approx 0.6 m, having the metric, the curvature invariants, and the electric field regular everywhere.
The Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism is used to investigate the regular black holes at finite temperature. Using the Teleparalelism Equivalent to General Relativity (TEGR) the gravitational Stefan-Boltzmann law and the gravitational Casimir effect at zero and finite temperature are calculated. In addition, the first law of thermodynamics is considered. Then the gravitational entropy and the temperature of the event horizon of a class of regular black holes are determined.
We use Einstein, Landau-Lifshitz, Papapetrou and Weinberg energy-momentum complexes to evaluate energy distribution of a regular black hole. It is shown that for a regular black hole, these energy-momentum complexes give the same energy distribution. This supports Cooperstock hypothesis and also Aguirregabbiria et al. conclusions. Further, we evaluate energy distribution using M$\ddot{o}$ller's prescription. This does not exactly coincide with ELLPW energy expression but, at large distances, they become same.
We investigate a microscopic black hole in case of modified generalized uncertainty principle with a minimal uncertainty in position as well as in momentum. We calculate thermodynamical functions of a Schwarzschild black hole such as temperature, entropy and heat capacity. It is shown that incorporation of minimal uncertainty in momentum leads to minimal temperature of a black hole similarly as we have for Schwarzschschild-AdS black hole without minimal uncertainty. Minimal temperature gives rise to Hawking-Page phase transition. Emission rate equation and black hole lifetime are also obtained…
We investigate highly damped quasinormal modes of regular black hole coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics. Using the WKB approximation combined with complex-integration technique, we show that the real part of the frequency disappears in the highly damped limit. If we use the Bohr's correspondence principle, the area spectrum of this black hole is continuous. We discuss its implication in the loop quantum gravity.
We show that there is a class of regular charged black hole with a charged de Sitter core similar to the de Sitter-Schwarzschild black hole. One can show that the total energy momentum tensor for the static and spherically symmetric photon field can be made conserved even the Coulomb like energy momentum tensor for photon is not conserved alone. Possible impact and the numerical solutions of the charged black hole will be shown in this paper.
Bardeen regular black hole is commonly considered as a solution of general relativity coupled to a nonlinear electrodynamics. In this paper, it is shown that the Bardeen solution may be interpreted as a quantum-corrected Schwarzschild black hole. This new interpretation is obtained by means of a generalized uncertainty principle applied to the Hawking temperature. Moreover, using the regular black hole of Bardeen, it is possible to evaluate the quantum gravity parameter of the generalized uncertainty principle or, assuming the recent upper bounds for such a parameter, to verify an enormous dis…
Following a recent approach, complete and analytic solutions (brane and bulk) of regular black holes are shown in a brane context. The metrics are regular both on the four-dimensional brane and in the five-dimensional bulk. Like many brane world scenarios, the bulk spacetime is asymptotically anti-de Sitter. On the other hand, a de Sitter core on the brane avoids the singularity inside the event horizon, providing then well-known regular black holes on the brane. From the bulk perspective, the regular black holes are five-dimensional objects, with the event horizon extending to the extra dimen…
We develop the regular black hole solutions recently proposed in arXiv:2109.05974 by incorporating the 1-loop quantum correction to the Newton potential as well as a time delay between an observer at the regular center and that at infinity. We define the maximal time delay between the center and the infinity by scanning the mass of black holes such that the sub-Planckian feature of Kretschmann scalar curvature is preserved during the whole process of evaporation. We also compare the distinct behavior of Kretschmann curvature for black holes with an asymptotically Minkowski core and those with …
We construct new regular black hole solutions by matching the de Sitter solution and the Reissner-Nordstrom solution with a timelike thin shell. The thin shell is assumed to have mass but no pressure and obeys an equation of motion derived from Israel's junction conditions. By investigating the equation of motion for the shell, we obtain stationary solutions of charged regular black holes and examine stability of the solutions. Stationary solutions are found in limited ranges of 0.87L < m < 1.99L, and they are stable against small radial displacement of the shell with fixed values of m, M, and…
We calculate the expectation values of the stress-energy tensor for both a massless minimally-coupled and dilaton-coupled 2D field propagating on an extremal Reissner-Nordstrom black hole, showing its regularity on the horizon in contrast with previous claims in the literature.
We present a general procedure for constructing exact black hole solutions with electric or magnetic charges in General Relativity coupled to a nonlinear electrodynamics. We obtain a variety of two-parameter family spherically symmetric black hole solutions. In particular, the singularity at the central of the space-time can be cancelled in the parameters space and the black hole solutions become regular everywhere in the space-time. We study the global properties of the solutions and derive the first law of thermodynamics. We also generalize the procedure to include a cosmological constant an…
In this paper for variety types of regular black hole solutions, we investigate the entropy product of inner and outer horizons. Similar to singular black holes, for the regular ones we find that universality (mass independence) of the entropy product is true for some solutions and it fails for some others. In the case of regular black holes that respect the universality, we read central charges of the dual CFTs from the entropy product, according to the Thermodynamics method introduced in \cite{Chen:2013rb}. For these solutions we also calculate central charges, using the asymptotic symmetry …
The scalar radiation emitted by a source in geodesic circular orbit around a regular Bardeen black hole is analyzed. We use the quantum field theory in curved spacetime framework to obtain the emitted power of radiation by computing the one-particle emission amplitude of scalar particles in the curved background. We compare our results to a similar setting in the spacetime of a Reissner-Nordström black hole.
It has been known that a B=2 skyrmion is axially symmetric. We consider the Skyrme model coupled to gravity and obtain static axially symmetric regular and black hole solutions numerically. Computing the energy density of the skyrmion, we discuss the effect of gravity to the energy density and baryon density of the skyrmion.
We construct regular, asymptotically flat black holes of higher order scalar tensor (DHOST) theories, which are obtained by making use of a generalized Kerr-Schild solution generating method. The solutions depend on a mass integration constant, admit a smooth core of chosen regularity, and generically have an inner and outer event horizon. In particular, below a certain mass threshold, we find massive, horizonless, particle-like solutions. We scan through possible observational signatures ranging from weak to strong gravity and study the thermodynamics of our regular solutions, comparing them,…
We illustrate that regular black holes and horizonless stars, typically considered as quite distinct families of black hole mimickers, are intimately intertwined. We show that any spherically symmetric regular black hole can be continuously deformed into a horizonless star under the mild conditions of non-negativity of gravitational energy (Misner--Sharp quasi-local mass), and an assumed linear relation between the latter and the Arnowitt--Deser--Misner (ADM) mass. We illustrate this general result by considering the family of geometries proposed by Hayward as the description of regular black …
We address an interesting question in the present paper that whether the acoustic gravity can be applied as a tool to the study of regular black holes. For this purpose, we construct a general acoustic regular black hole in the spherically symmetric fluid, where its regularity is verified from the perspective of finiteness of curvature invariants and completeness of geodesics. In particular, we find that the acoustic interval not only looks like a line element of a conformally related black hole in which the fluid density can be regarded as a conformal factor, but also gives rise to a non-vani…
We introduce a magnetically charged extremal regular black hole in the coupled system of Einstein gravity and nonlinear electrodynamics. Its near horizon geometry is given by $AdS_2\times S^2$. It turns out that the entropy function approach does not automatically lead to a correct entropy of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. This contrasts to the case of the extremal Reissner-Norström black hole in the Einstein-Maxwell theory. We conclude that the entropy function approach does not work for a magnetically charged extremal regular black hole without singularity, because of the nonlinearity of th…
In this work, we investigate the quasinormal frequencies of a class of regular black hole solutions which generalize Bardeen and Hayward spacetimes. In particular, we analyze scalar, vector and gravitational perturbations of the black hole both with the semianalytic WKB method and their time-domain profiles. We analyze in detail the behavior of the spectrum depending on the parameter $p/q$ of the black hole, the quantum number of angular momentum and the $s$ number. In addition, we compare our results with the classical solution valid for $p = q = 1$.
The notion of the black hole singularity and the proof of the singularity theorem were considered great successes in classical general relativity. Singularities had presented deep puzzles to physicists. Conceptual challenges were set up by the intractability of the singularity. The existence of black hole horizons which cover up the interior, including the singularity of the black hole from outside observers, builds an information curtain, further hindering physicists from understanding the nature of the singularity and the interior structure of black holes. The regular black hole is a concept…
Calculations of the inner mass function of the Hayward regular black hole with fluxes are reviewed and rederived. We present detailed calculations of the inner mass function in two forms of the Ori approach (the ingoing flux is continuous, the outgoing flux is modeled by a thin null shell) and compare them with calculations in Reissner-Nordstrom black hole. A formal reason of different results is discussed. The energy density of scalar perturbations propagating from the event horizon into the Hayward black hole measured by a free falling observer near the inner horizon is calculated.
Non-singular black hole geometries typically come with two spacetime horizons: an (outer) event horizon and an (inner) Cauchy horizon. This nurtures the speculation that they may be subject to a mass-inflation effect which renders the Cauchy horizon unstable. We analyze the dynamics associated with spherically symmetric, regular black holes taking the full backreaction between the infalling matter and geometry into account. On this basis, we identify the crucial features taming the growth of the mass function and diminishing the curvature singularity at the Cauchy horizon. It is demonstrated e…
We present a regular class of exact black hole solutions of Einstein equations coupled with a nonlinear electrodynamics source. For weak fields the nonlinear electrodynamics becomes the Maxwell theory, and asymptotically the solutions behave as the Reissner-Nordström one. The class is endowed with four parameters, which can be thought of as the mass $m$, charge $q$, and a sort of dipole and quadrupole moments $α$ and $β$, respectively. For $α\geq 3$, $β\geq 4$, and $|q| \leq 2 s_c m$ the corresponding solutions are regular charged black holes. For $α=3$, they also satisfy the weak energy condi…
Black holes encountered in general relativity are characterized by spacetime singularities hidden within an event horizon. These singularities provide a key motivation to go beyond general relativity and look for regular black holes where the spacetime curvature remains bounded everywhere. A prominent mechanism achieving this replaces the singularity by a regular patch of de Sitter space. The resulting regular geometries exhibit two horizons: the outer event horizon is supplemented by an inner Cauchy horizon. The latter could render the geometry unstable against perturbations through the so-ca…
We discuss recent developments in gravitational fields with sources, regular black holes, quasiblack holes, and analogue black holes, related to the talks presented at the corresponding Parallel Session AT3 of the 13th Marcel Grossmann Meeting.
To have the correct picture of a black hole as a whole it is of crucial importance to understand its interior. The singularities that lurk inside the horizon of the usual Kerr-Newman family of black hole solutions signal an endpoint to the physical laws and as such should be substituted in one way or another. A proposal that has been around for sometime, is to replace the singular region of the spacetime by a region containing some form of matter or false vacuum configuration that can also cohabit with the black hole interior. Black holes without singularities are called regular black holes. I…
In this work, we discuss the accretion onto static spherical symmetric regular black holes for specific choices of equation of state parameter. The underlying regular black holes are charged regular black hole using Fermi-Dirac Distribution, logistic distribution, nonlinear electrodynamics, respectively and Kehagias-Sftesos asymptotically flat regular black hole. We obtain the critical radius, critical speed and squared sound speed during the accretion process near the regular black holes. We also study the behavior of radial velocity, energy density and rate of change of mass for each regular…
In this work, we show that regular black holes in a Randall-Sundrum-type brane world model are generated by the nonlocal bulk influence, expressed by a constant parameter in the brane metric, only in the spherical case. In the axial case (black holes with rotation), this influence forbids them. A nonconstant bulk influence is necessary to generate regular black holes with rotation in this context.
