In this paper, positive solutions to the Laplace equation with 1-dimensional circular singularities are investigated. First, we establish $L^p$ integrability estimates for such solutions $u$ near the singularities, in comparison with classical $L^1$ estimates. Then we characterize $-Δu$ around the circle. The method we developed may also be adapted to higher dimensional as well as more generalized cases.
We construct N-harmonic functions in a domain with one isolated singularity on the boundary of the domain. By using solutions of the spherical p-harmonic spectral problem, we give an inductive method to produce a large variety of separable p-harmonic functions.
In this article we prove that the singular set of Dirichlet-minimizing $Q$-valued functions is countably $(m-2)$-rectifiable and we give upper bounds for the $(m-2)$-dimensional Minkowski content of the set of singular points with multiplicity $Q$.
It is well known that sets of $p$-capacity zero are removable for bounded $p$-harmonic functions, but on metric spaces there are examples of removable sets of positive capacity. In this paper, we show that this can happen even on unweighted $\mathbf{R}^n$ when $n > p$, although only in very special cases. A complete characterization of removable singularities for bounded $\mathcal{A}$-harmonic functions on weighted $\mathbf{R}^n$, $n \ge 1$, is also given, where the weight is $p$-admissible. The same characterization is also shown to hold for bounded quasiharmonic functions on weighted $\mathb…
We study the boundary behaviour of solutions $u$ of $-Δ_{N}u+ |u|^{q-1}u=0$ in a bounded smooth domain $Ω\subset\mathbb R^{N}$ subject to the boundary condition $u=0$ except at one point, in the range $q>N-1$. We prove that if $q\geq 2N-1$ such a $u$ is identically zero, while, if $N-1<q<2N-1$, $u$ inherits a boundary behaviour which either corresponds to a weak singularity, or to a strong singularity. Such singularities are effectively constructed.
We consider harmonic maps into pseudo-Riemannian manifolds. We show the removability of isolated singularities for continuous maps, i.e. that any continuous map from an open subset of R^m into a pseudo-Riemannian manifold which is two times continuously differentiable and harmonic everywhere outside an isolated point is actually smooth harmonic everywhere.
In this article, we study the the harmonic map heat flow from a manifold with conic singularities to a closed manifold. In particular, we have proved the short time existence and uniqueness of solutions as well as the existence of global solutions into manifolds with nonpositive sectional curvature. These results are established in virtue of the maximal regularity theory on manifolds with conic singularities.

Singular solutions of the harmonic Einstein evolution equation are constructed which are related to spatially global and time-local solutions for a certain class of quasilinear hyperbolic systems of second order. The constructed singularities of curvature invariants occur generically and are accessible by g.a.p. curves. The singularities are not strongly censored, and for strongly asymptotically predictable space-times, they are located in the causal past of the future null infinity, and are, hence, not shielded by a black hole. This is an alternative construction of singularities, which may b…
We define renormalised energies for maps that describe the first-order asymptotics of harmonic maps outside of singularities arising due to obstructions generated by the boundary data and the mutliple connectedness of the target manifold. The constructions generalise the definition by Bethuel, Brezis and Hélein for the circle (Ginzburg-Landau vortices, 1994). In general, the singularities are geometrical objects and the dependence on homotopic singularities can be studied through a new notion of synharmony. The renormalised energies are showed to be coercive and Lipschitz-continuous. The renor…
In this contribution we are interested in the quantitative homogenization properties of linear elliptic equations with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary data in polygonal domains with corners. To begin our study of this situation, we consider the setting of an angular sector in 2 dimensions : Unlike in the whole-space, on such a sector there exist non-smooth harmonic functions (these depend on the angle of the sector). Here, we construct extended homogenization correctors corresponding to these harmonic functions and prove growth estimates for these which are quasi-optimal, namely optimal up to a…
Our concern in this paper is to study the qualitative properties for harmonic functions related to the fractional Laplacian. Firstly we classify the polynomials in the whole space and in the half space for the fractional Laplacian defined in a principle value sense at infinity. Secondly, we study the fractional harmonic functions in half space with singularities on the boundary and the related distributional identities.
In the 1980's, Almgren developed a theory of multi-valued Dirichlet energy minimizing functions on $n$ dimensional domains and used it, in an essential way, to bound the Hausdorff dimension of the singular sets of area minimizing rectifiable currents of dimension $n$ and codimension $\geq 2$. Recent work of the second author shows that two-valued $C^{1, μ}$ harmonic functions on $n$ dimensional domains, which are typically-non-minimizing stationary points of Dirichlet energy, play an essential role in the study of multiplicity 2 branch points of stable codimension 1 rectifiable currents of dim…
We study the asymptotic behaviour, as a small parameter $\varepsilon$ tends to zero, of minimisers of a Ginzburg-Landau type energy with a nonlinear penalisation potential vanishing on a compact submanifold $\mathcal{N}$ and with a given $\mathcal{N}$-valued Dirichlet boundary data. We show that minimisers converge up to a subsequence to a singular $\mathcal{N}$-valued harmonic map, which is smooth outside a finite number of points around which the energy concentrates and whose singularities' location minimises a renormalised energy, generalising known results by Bethuel, Brezis and Hélein for…
We prove that finite area isolated singularities of surfaces with constant positive curvature in R^3 are removable singularities, branch points or immersed conical singularities. We describe the space of immersed conical singularities of such surfaces in terms of the class of real analytic closed locally convex curves in the 2-sphere with admissible cusp singularities, characterizing when the singularity is actually embedded. In the global setting, we describe the space of peaked spheres in R^3, i.e. compact convex surfaces of constant positive curvature with a finite number of singularities, …
We consider Schrödinger equations with variable coefficients and the harmonic potential. We suppose the perturbation is short-range type in the sense of [Nakamura 2004]. We characterize the wave front set of the solutions to the equation in terms of the classical scattering data and the propagator of the unperturbed harmonic oscillator. In particular, we give a "recurrence of singularities" type theorem for the propagation of the period $t=π$.
In this paper we report on numerical studies of the Cauchy problem for equivariant wave maps from 2+1 dimensional Minkowski spacetime into the two-sphere. Our results provide strong evidence for the conjecture that large energy initial data develop singularities in finite time and that singularity formation has the universal form of adiabatic shrinking of the degree-one harmonic map from $\mathbb{R}^2$ into $S^2$.
We study the evolution equations for a regularized version of Dirac-harmonic maps from closed Riemannian surfaces. We establish the existence of a global weak solution for the regularized problem, which is smooth away from finitely many singularities. Moreover, we discuss the convergence of the evolution equations and address the question if we can remove the regularization in the end.
