In this article, we study the gauge theoretic aspects of real and quaternionic parabolic bundles over a real curve $(X, σ_X)$, where X is a compact Riemann surface and σX is an anti-holomorphic involution. For a fixed real or quaternionic structure on a smooth parabolic bundle, we examine the orbits space of real or quaternionic connection under the appropriate gauge group. The corresponding gauge-theoretic quotients sit inside the real points of the moduli of holomorphic parabolic bundles having a fixed parabolic type on a compact Riemann surface $X$.
We generalize the classical Beauville-Narasimhan-Ramanan correspondence to the case of parabolic Higgs bundles with regular singularities and Higgs $V$-bundles. Using this correspondence along with Bott-Morse theoretic techniques we provide an exact component count for moduli spaces of maximal parabolic $\text{Sp}\left( 2n,\mathbb{R} \right)$-Higgs bundles with fixed parabolic structure.
We introduce a notion of admissible Hermitian metrics on parabolic bundles and define positivity properties for the same. We develop Chern-Weil theory for parabolic bundles and prove that our metric notions coincide with the already existing algebro-geometric versions of parabolic Chern classes. We also formulate a Griffiths conjecture in the parabolic setting and prove some results that provide evidence in its favour for certain kinds of parabolic bundles. For these kinds of parabolic structures, we prove that the conjecture holds on Riemann surfaces. We also prove that a Berndtsson-type resu…
Take an irreducible smooth projective curve $X$ defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, and fix finitely many distinct point $D\, =\, \{x_1,\, \cdots,\, x_n\}$ of it; for each point $x\, \in\, D$ fix a positive integer $N_x$. Take a nonconstant map $f\, :\, Y\, \longrightarrow \, X$ from an irreducible smooth projective curve. We construct a natural subbundle $\mathcal{F}\, \subset\, f_*{\mathcal O}_Y$ using $(D,\, \{N_x\}_{x\in D})$. Let $E_*$ be a stable parabolic vector bundle whose parabolic weights at each $x\, \in\, D$ are integral multiples of $\frac{1}{N_x}$.…
In this paper, we study rank 2 (quasi) parabolic bundles over the Riemann sphere with an effective divisor and these moduli spaces. First we consider a criterium when a parabolic bundle admits a unramified irregular singular parabolic connection. Second, to give a good compactification of the moduli space of semistable parabolic bundles, we introduce a generalization of parabolic bundles, which is called refined parabolic bundles. Third, we discuss a stability condition of refined parabolic bundles and define elementary transformations of the refined parabolic bundles. Finally, we describe the…
Our aim in this article is to produce new examples of semistable Lazarsfeld- Mukai bundles on smooth projective surfaces $X$ using the notion of parabolic vector bundles. In particular, we associate natural parabolic structures to any rank two (dual) Lazarsfeld-Mukai bundle and study the parabolic stability of these parabolic bundles. We also show that the orbifold bundles on Kawamata coverings of $X$ corresponding to the above parabolic bundles are themselves certain (dual) Lazarsfeld-Mukai bundles. This gives semistable Lazarsfeld-Mukai bundles on Kawamata covers of the projective plane and …
This is a review article on some applications of generalised parabolic structures to the study of torsion free sheaves and $L$-twisted Hitchin pairs on nodal curves. In particular, we survey on the relation between representations of the fundamental group of a nodal curve and the moduli spaces of generalised parabolic bundles and generalised parabolic $L$-twisted Hitchin pairs on its normalisation as well as on an analogue of the Hitchin map for generalised parabolic $L$-twisted Hitchin pairs.
Let $φ: Y \rightarrow X$ be a finite surjective morphism between smooth complex projective curves, where $X$ is irreducible but $Y$ need not be so. Let $V_*$ be a parabolic vector bundle on $Y$. We construct a parabolic structure on the direct image $φ_* V$ on $X$, where $V$ is the vector bundle underlying $V_*$. The parabolic vector bundle $φ_* V_*$ on $X$ obtained this way has a ramified torus sub-bundle; it is a torus bundle of $\text{Ad}(φ_* V)$ outside the parabolic divisor for $φ_* V_*$ that satisfies certain conditions at the parabolic points. Conversely, given a parabolic vector bundle…
Algebraic parabolic bundles on smooth projective curves over algebraically closed field of positive characteristic is defined. It is shown that the category of algebraic parabolic bundles is equivalent to the category of orbifold bundles defined in \cite{KP}. Tensor, dual, pullback and pushforward operations are also defined for parabolic bundles.
We prove that the moduli spaces of parabolic symplectic/orthogonal bundles on a smooth curve are globally F regular type. As a consequence, all higher cohomology of theta line bundle vanish. During the proof, we develop a method to estimate codimension, and consider the infinite grassmannians for parabolic $G$ bundles.
Given a compact Riemann surface $X$ and a moduli space $M_α(Λ)$ of parabolic stable bundles on it of fixed determinant of complete parabolic flags, we prove that the Poincaré parabolic bundle on $X\times M_α(Λ)$ is parabolic stable with respect to a natural polarization on $X\times M_α(Λ)$.
For a semisimple real Lie group $G$, we study topological properties of moduli spaces of polystable parabolic $G$-Higgs bundles over a Riemann surface with a divisor of finitely many distinct points. For a split real form of a complex simple Lie group, we compute the dimension of apparent parabolic Teichm{ü}ller components. In the case of isometry groups of classical Hermitian symmetric spaces of tube type, we provide new topological invariants for maximal parabolic $G$-Higgs bundles arising from a correspondence to orbifold Higgs bundles. Using orbifold cohomology we count the least number of…
Given a vector bundle $E$ on an irreducible projective variety $X$ we give a necessary and sufficient criterion for $E$ to be a direct image of a line bundle under an étale morphism. The criterion in question is the existence of a Cartan subalgebra bundle of the endomorphism bundle $\text{End}(E)$. As a corollary, a criterion is obtained for $E$ to be the direct image of the structure sheaf under an étale morphism. The direct image of a parabolic line bundle under any ramified covering map has a natural parabolic structure. Given a parabolic vector bundle, we give a similar criterion for it to…
We define the Gromov-Witten invariants for the parabolic bundles over an orbifold $C$ in various situation. Those bring us to refine this notion to get an accurate computation of the number of maximal subbundles of a sufficiently general parabolic bundle by means of the Intriligator-Varfa formula.
Let $X$ be a compact Riemann surface of genus $g\geq 3$ and let $\mathcal{M}_{\mathrm{par}}$ be the moduli space of semistable parabolic bundles over $X$. Let $\mathcal{M}_{\mathrm{parH}}$ denote the moduli space of semistable parabolic Higgs bundles over $X$. In this article, we study the Picard group of $\mathcal{M}_{\mathrm{par}}$ and $\mathcal{M}_{\mathrm{parH}}$.
For every set of parabolic weights, we construct a Harder-Narasimhan stratification for the moduli stack of parabolic vector bundles on a curve. It is based on the notion of parabolic slope, introduced by Mehta and Seshadri. We also prove that the stratification is schematic, that each stratum is complete, and establish an analogue of Behrend's conjecture for parabolic vector bundles. A comparison with recent $Θ$-stratification approaches is discussed.

We present an explicit construction of the moduli spaces of rank 2 stable parabolic bundles of parabolic degree 0 over the Riemann sphere, corresponding to "optimum" open weight chambers of parabolic weights in the weight polytope. The complexity of the different moduli space' weight chambers is understood in terms of the complexity of the actions of the corresponding groups of bundle automorphisms on stable parabolic structures. For the given choices of parabolic weights, $\mathscr{N}$ consists entirely of isomorphism classes of strictly stable parabolic bundles whose underlying Birkhoff-Grot…
Let $M$ be a quasi-regular compact connected Sasakian manifold, and let $N = M/S^1$ be the base projective variety. We establish an equivalence between the class of Sasakian $G$-Higgs bundles over $M$ and the class of parabolic (or equivalently, ramified) $G$-Higgs bundles over the base $N$.
We consider irreducible logarithmic connections $(E,\,δ)$ over compact Riemann surfaces $X$ of genus at least two. The underlying vector bundle $E$ inherits a natural parabolic structure over the singular locus of the connection $δ$; the parabolic structure is given by the residues of $δ$. We prove that for the universal isomonodromic deformation of the triple $(X,\,E,\,δ)$, the parabolic vector bundle corresponding to a generic parameter in the Teichmüller space is parabolically stable. In the case of parabolic vector bundles of rank two, the general parabolic vector bundle is even parabolica…
A relation between the parabolic Chern characters of the de Rham bundles
