Searches for a charged Higgs boson ($H^\pm$) decaying to a charm quark and a bottom quark ($H^\pm \to cb$) have been carried out at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the decay of top quarks ($t\to H^\pm b$). In a recent search by the ATLAS collaboration (with all Run II data, 139 fb$^{-1}$) a local excess of around $3σ$ has been observed, which is best fitted by a charged Higgs boson with a mass ($m_{H^\pm}$) of around 130 GeV and a product of branching ratios (BRs) given by BR$(t\to H^\pm b)\times{\rm BR}(H^\pm\to cb)=0.16\%\pm 0.06\%$. In the context of Two-Higgs-Doublet Models (2HDM) with independent Yukawa couplings for $H^\pm$ we present the parameter space for which this excess (assuming it to be genuine) can be accommodated, taking into account the limits from LHC searches for $H^\pm\to cs$ and $H^\pm\to τν$ at $m_{H^\pm}$=130 GeV and the constraint from $b\to sγ$. It is then shown that such an excess cannot be explained in 2HDMs with natural flavour conservation, but can be accommodated in the flipped Three-Higgs-Doublet Model (3HDM) and in the aligned 2HDM (A2HDM). Upcoming searches with 139 fb$^{-1}$ in the channels $H^\pm\to cb$ (CMS), $H^\pm \to cs$ (ATLAS/CMS) and $H^\pm \to τν$ (ATLAS/CMS) will determine if the excess is the first sign of an $H^\pm$ with $m_{H^\pm}=130$ GeV.
The recent discovery, by the LHCb collaboration, of the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ doubly charmed baryon, has renewed interest in the spectroscopy of doubly heavy hadrons. Experimentally, however, searches for such states appear highly challenging. The reconstructed final states tend to involve multiple heavy flavoured (beauty or charm) hadrons, so the yield for any exclusive decay mode will be suppressed to unobservably low levels by the product of several branching fractions, each of which is typically $10^{-3}$--$10^{-2}$. Noting that decays of double beauty hadrons are the only possible source of $B_c^…
We investigate the prospects of discovering the top quark decay into a charm quark and a Higgs boson ($t \to c h^0$) in top quark pair production at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). A general two Higgs doublet model is adopted to study flavor changing neutral Higgs (FCNH) interactions. We perform a parton level analysis as well as Monte Carlo simulations using \textsc{Pythia}~8 and \textsc{Delphes} to study the flavor changing top quark decay $t \to c h^0$, followed by the Higgs decaying into $τ^+ τ^-$, with the other top quark decaying to a bottom quark ($b$) and two light jets ($t\to bW…
The hadroproduction of a $W$ boson in association with a charm quark at the Large Hadron Collider is at the centre of current investigations due to its potential to probe the strangeness content of the proton. In this paper we present an implementation of the $W+c$ production process in the PowHel event generator matched to the PYTHIA8 parton shower approach, allowing to obtain predictions for differential cross-sections with NLO QCD accuracy matched to the accuracy of the Shower Monte Carlo event generator. Effects of non-diagonal CKM matrix elements, finite charm quark mass and off-shell $W$…
We investigate the prospects for discovering a top quark decaying into one light Higgs boson ($h^0$) along with a charm quark ($c$) in top quark pair production at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and future hadron colliers. A general two Higgs doublet model is adopted to study the signature of flavor changing neutral Higgs (FCNH) interactions with $t \to c h^0$, followed by $h^0 \to WW^* \to \ell^+ \ell^- +\notE_T$, where $h^0$ is the CP-even Higgs boson and $\notE_T$ stands for missing transverse energy from neutrinos. We study the discovery potential for this FCNH signal and physics bac…
Exploring open-charm decay mode $Λ_c\barΛ_c$ of charmonium-like state $Y(4630)$
The doubly charm tetraquark with flavor $cc\bar u\bar d$ and isospin $I\!=\!0$ is investigated by calculating the $DD^*$ scattering amplitude with lattice QCD. The simulation is done on CLS ensembles with dynamical $u/d,s$ quarks and $m_π\simeq 280~$MeV for two charm quark masses, one slightly larger and one slightly lower than the physical value. The scattering amplitudes for partial waves $l=0,1$ are extracted near-threshold via the Lüscher's method by considering systems with total momenta $PL/(2π)=0,1,\sqrt{2},2$ on two spatial volumes. A virtual bound state pole in the $DD^*$ scattering a…
We study baryo-charmonium [$η_{\rm c}$- and $J/ψ$-$N^*$, $η_{\rm c}(2S)$-, $ψ(2S)$- and $χ_{\rm c}(1P)$-$N$] and baryo-bottomonium [$η_{\rm b}(2S)$-, $Υ(2S)$- and $χ_{\rm b}(1P)$-$N$] bound states, where $N$ is the nucleon and $N^*$ a nucleon resonance. In the baryo-quarkonium model, the five $qqq Q \bar Q$ quarks are arranged in terms of a heavy quarkonium core, $Q \bar Q$, embedded in light baryonic matter, $qqq$, with $q = u$ or $d$. The interaction between the $Q \bar Q$ core and the light baryon can be written in terms of the QCD multipole expansion. The spectrum of baryo-charmonium state…
We calculate cross-sections and cross-section ratios of a charm quark production in association with a $W$ gauge boson at next-to-leading order QCD using MadGraph and CT10NNLO, CT14NNLO, and MSTW2008NNLO PDFs. We compare the results with measurements from the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 7TeV. Moreover, we calculate absolute and normalized differential cross-sections as well as differential cross-section ratios as a function of the lepton pseudorapidity from the $W$ boson decay. The correlation between the CT14NNLO PDFs and predictions for $W+$ charm data are studied a…
The possibility of a light charged Higgs boson $H^\pm$ that decays predominantly to $cb$ and with a mass in the range 80 GeV $\le M_{H^\pm} \le 90$ GeV is studied in the context of a 3-Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM). Searches for this decay at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) do not have sensitivity to this mass region at present. It is shown that the searches for $H^\pm$ at LEP2 could be supplemented by either one or two $b$-tags, which would enable such large branching ratios for $H^\pm\to cb$ to be probed in the above mass region. We comment on the possibility of this 3HDM scenario to explain a …
Production of two charm quark-antiquark pairs in single-parton scattering within the $k_t$-factorization approach
DPS($g g \to c \bar c \otimes g g \to c \bar c$)的假设可能过于近似。
The decay widths of the charmonium states to $D\bar D$ in isospin asymmetric nuclear matter in the presence of a magnetic field are studied, using a field theoretical model for composite hadrons with quark/antiquark constituents. The medium modifications of these partial decay widths arise due to the changes in the masses of the decaying charmonium state and the produced $D$ and $\bar D$ mesons in the magnetized hadronic matter, calculated within a chiral effective model. The decay widths are computed using the light quark--antiquark pair creation term of the free Dirac Hamiltonian in terms of…
Future electron-positron colliders will play a leading role in the precision measurement of Higgs boson couplings which is one of the central interests in particle physics. Aiming at maximizing the performance to measure the Higgs couplings to the bottom, charm and strange quarks, we develop machine learning methods to improve the selection of events with a Higgs decaying to dijets. Our methods are based on the Boosted Decision Tree (BDT), Fully-Connected Neural Network (FCNN) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). We find that the BDT and FCNN-based algorithms outperform the conventional cut…

Search for charmed baryons in the $Λ_c^+η$ system and measurement of the branching fractions of $Λ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λ_c(2940)^+$ decaying to $Λ_c^+η$ and $pD^0$ relative to $Σ_c(2455)π$
We have performed a systematic study of J/$ψ$ and $ψ$(2S) production in p--p collisions at different Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies and at different rapidities using the leading order non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics model of heavy quarkonium production. We have included the contributions from hiher excited states decaying to J$ψ$ . The calculated values have been compared with the available data from the four experiments at LHC, namely ALICE, ATLAS, CMS and LHCb. In the case of ALICE, inclusive J/$ψ$ and $ψ$(2S) cross-sections have been calculated by including the feed-down from …
We consider the potential of the Higgs boson pair production process to probe the light quark Yukawa couplings. We show within an effective theory description that the prospects of constraining enhanced first generation light quark Yukawa couplings in Higgs pair production are similar to other methods and channels, due to a coupling of two Higgs bosons to two fermions. Higgs pair production can hence also probe if the Higgs sector couples non-linearly to the light quark generations. For the second generation, we show that by employing charm tagging for the Higgs boson pair decaying to $c\bar{c…
We present the theoretical status of the lifetimes of weakly decaying heavy hadrons containing a bottom or a charm quark, and discuss the current predictions, based on the framework of the Heavy Quark Expansion (HQE), for both mesons and baryons. Potential improvements to reduce the theoretical uncertainties are also highlighted.
The LHCb collaboration have recently updated their analysis of the resonant $J/ψ\, p$ mass spectrum in the decay $Λ_b^0 \to J/ψ\, p\, K^-$, making use of their combined Run~1 and Run~2 data. In the updated analysis, three narrow states, $P_c (4312)^+$, $P_c (4440)^+$, and $P_c (4457)^+$, are observed. The spin-parity assignments of these states are not yet known. We interpret these narrow resonances as compact hidden-charm diquark-diquark-antiquark pentaquarks. Using an effective Hamiltonian, based on constituent quarks and diquarks, we calculate the pentaquark mass spectrum for the complete $…
