We present our spectroscopic observations of V455 Andromedae during the 2007 superoutburst. Our observations cover this superoutburst from around the optical peak of the outburst to the post-superoutburst stage. During the early superhump phase, the emission lines of Balmer series, He I, He II, Bowen blend, and C IV / N IV blend were detected. He II 4686 line exhibited a double-peaked emission profile, where Balmer emission lines were single-peaked, which is unexpected from its high inclination. In the ordinary superhump phase, Balmer series transitioned to double-peaked emission profiles, and high-ionization lines were significantly weakened. These transitions of the line profiles should be related to the structural transformation of the accretion disk, as expected between the early and ordinary superhump transition in the thermal-tidal instability model. The Doppler map of H$α$ during the early superhump phase exhibits a compact blob centered at the primary white dwarf. In analogy to SW Sex-type cataclysmic variables, this feature could emerge from the disk wind and/or the mass accretion column onto the magnetized white dwarf. The Doppler map of He II 4686 Å~ is dominated by the ring-like structure and imposed two flaring regions with the velocity of $\sim$300 km/s, which is too slow for a Keplerian accretion disk. The phase of the flaring regions was coincident with the inner spiral arm structure identified during the early superhump phase. Our disk wind model with the enhanced emission from the inner arm structure successfully reproduced the observed properties of He II 4686 Å. Therefore, V455 And is the first case in dwarf nova outbursts that the presence of the disk wind is inferred from an optical spectrum.
We report on optical and infrared photometric observations of a WZ Sge-type dwarf nova, V455 And during a superoutburst in 2007. These observations were performed with the KANATA (V, J, and K_s bands) and MITSuME (g', Rc, and Ic bands) telescopes. Our 6-band simultaneous observations allowed us to investigate the temporal variation of the temperature and the size of the emitting region associated with the superoutburst and short-term modulations, such as early and ordinary superhumps. A hot (>11000 K) accretion disk suddenly disappeared when the superoutburst finished, while blackbody emission…
Contribution from the irradiated secondary component is detected in the light curves of five dwarf novae observed during superoutbursts. Their superhump light curves show that irradiation is modulated with the superhump phase. This strengthens the new interpretation of superhumps (Smak 2009) as being due to irradiation controlled mass transfer rate resulting in modulated dissipation of the kinetic energy of the stream.
We present results of a world-wide observing campaign of the eclipsing dwarf nova - HT Cas during its superoutburst in November 2010. Using collected data we were able to conduct analysis of the light curves and we calculated $O-C$ diagrams. The CCD photometric observations enabled us to derive the superhump period and with the timings of eclipses the orbital period was calculated. Based on superhump and orbital period estimations the period excess and mass ratio of the system were obtained.
We observed ASASSN-19ax during the long outburst in 2021 September-October. The object has been confirmed to be an SU UMa-type dwarf nova with a superhump period of 0.1000-0.1001 d. This object showed two post-superoutburst rebrightenings both in the 2019 and 2021 superoutbursts. These observations have established that ASASSN-19ax belongs to a group of long-period SU UMa-type dwarf novae which show multiple rebrightenings. This phenomenon probably arises from premature quenching of the superoutburst due to the weak 3:1 resonance near the stability border of the resonance, resulting in a consi…
We report unfiltered photometry of SDSS J112003.40+663632.4 during the 2011 February outburst which revealed the presence of superhumps with peak-to-peak amplitude of up to 0.22 magnitudes showing this to be an SU UMa type dwarf nova. The outburst amplitude was 5.4 magnitudes above mean quiescence and it lasted at least 12 days. The mean superhump period during the plateau phase was Psh = 0.07057(19) d.
We present a statistical study of all measurable photometric features of a large sample of dwarf novae during their outbursts and superoutbursts. We used all accessible photometric data for all our objects to make the study as complete and up-to-date as possible. Our aim was to check correlations between these photometric features in order to constrain theoretical models which try to explain the nature of dwarf novae outbursts. We managed to confirm a few of the known correlations, that is the Stolz and Schoembs Relation, the Bailey Relation for long outbursts above the period gap, the relatio…
We investigated the superhump evolution, analysing optical photometric observations of the 2000 February-March, the 2002 October-November, and the 2006 September superoutbursts of SW UMa. The superhumps evolved in the same way after their appearance during the 2000 and the 2002 superoutbursts, and probably during the 2006 one. This indicates that the superhump evolution may be governed by the invariable binary parameters. We detected a periodicity in light curve after the end of the 2000 superoutburst without phase shift, which seems to be the remains of the superhumps. We found QPOs at the en…
We report unfiltered CCD photometry of the first confirmed superoutburst of the recently discovered dwarf nova, SDSS J083931.35+282824.0 in April 2010. From a quiescence magnitude of ~19.8 it rose to 14.0, an outburst amplitude of at least 5.8 magnitudes. Only the plateau phase of the outburst was observed during which superhumps with peak-to-peak amplitude of up to 0.28 magnitudes were present, confirming this to be an SU UMa type dwarf nova. The mean superhump period was Psh = 0.07836(2) during the first 3 days and this subsequently decreased to 0.07800(3) d. Analysis of the data revealed te…
We studied the Kepler light curves of three SU UMa-type dwarf novae. Both the background dwarf nova of KIC 4378554 and V516 Lyr showed a combination of precursor-main superoutburst, during which superhumps always developed on the fading branch of the precursor. This finding supports the thermal-tidal instability theory as the origin of the superoutburst. A superoutburst of V585 Lyr recorded by Kepler did not show a precursor outburst and the superhumps developed only after the maximum light, a first example in the Kepler data so far. Such a superoutburst is understood within the thermal-tidal …
We report photometry of three outbursts of NN Cam in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The 2007 event started with a normal outburst, lasting about 4 days, which was a precursor to a superoutburst lasting at least 13 days. Both the precursor and the superoutburst had an amplitude of 4.9 mag above mean quiescence. Superhumps with a maximum peak-to-peak amplitude of 0.22 mag were detected during the superoutburst with a mean superhump period Psh = 0.07385(56) d. Psh decreased continuously with dPsh /dt = -1.72(23) x 10-3. We used our measurement to confirm that the shorter of two possible values of Porb repo…
We present photometric observations of the dwarf nova 1RXS J053234.9+624755. We performed a detailed analysis of the superoutburst that occurred in August 2009. We found the superhump period to be P_sh=0.057122(14)days. Based on the O-C diagram we conclude that P_sh increased during the plateau at the rate of dP_sh/dt=(9.24 +- 1.4) * 10^-5. Both the O-C analysis and evolution of the superhumps light curve favour the model in which superhumps originate in a variable source located in the vicinity of the hot spot. In addition, the evolution of the light curve suggests that the superhump light so…
SU UMa stars are characterized by "superoutbursts" which are brighter at maximum light and which last much longer than the more frequent "ordinary" outbursts of these dwarf novae. Although there are now more than 1180 SU UMa type dwarf novae catalogued, our knowledge on their superoutburst cycle length Cso was hitherto limited to about 6$\%$ of the entire sample of known SU UMa stars. Using public data bases we have determined new Cso values for a total of 206 additional SU UMa stars in the range 17 d $<$ Cso $<$ 4590 d (including some ER UMa and WZ Sge type representants) within total time in…
In 2015 March, the notable WZ Sge-type dwarf nova AL Com exhibited an unusual outburst with a recurrence time of ${\sim}$1.5 yr, which is the shortest interval of superoutbursts among WZ Sge-type dwarf novae. Early superhumps in the superoutburst light curve were absent, and a precursor was observed at the onset of the superoutburst for the first time in WZ Sge-type dwarf novae. The present superoutburst can be interpreted as a result of the condition that the disk radius barely reached the 3:1 resonance radius, but did not reach the 2:1 resonance one. Ordinary superhumps immediately grew foll…
Results of the CCD observations of CzeV404 Her are displayed. During the season of June-August 2014 we detected one outburst and one superoutburst of the star. Clear superhumps with the period of P_sh=0.10472(2) days were observed. The superhump period was decreasing with a high value of P_dot=-2.43(8) x 10^(-4). For 17 eclipses, we calculated an orbital period with the value of P_orb=0.0980203(6) days which indicates that CzeV404 Her belongs to period gap objects and it is the longest orbital period eclipsing SU UMa star. Based on superhump and orbital period determinations, the period excess…
Analysis of observations of the SU UMa-type dwarf nova, CP Dra, between February 2001 and April 2009 has revealed 15 outbursts, at least eight of which were superoutbursts. The supercycle length is 230+/-56 d. We report photometry of the 2001 and 2009 superoutbursts which shows that they were remarkably similar to each other in terms of the profile of the outburst light curve and the evolution of the superhumps. The outburst amplitude was 5.5 magnitudes and the Psh during the plateau phase was measured at 0.08335(31) and 0.08343(21) d, respectively. In both cases, Psh decreased during the cour…
We analyzed the Kepler long cadence data of KIC 7524178 (=KIS J192254.92+430905.4), and found that it is an SU UMa-type dwarf nova with frequent normal outbursts. The signal of the negative superhump was always the dominant one even during the superoutburst, in contrast to our common knowledge about superhumps in dwarf novae. The signal of the positive superhump was only transiently seen during the superoutburst, and it quickly decayed after the superoutburst. The frequency variation of the negative superhump was similar to the two previously studied dwarf novae in the Kepler field, V1504 Cyg …
A CCD photometry of the dwarf nova MASTER OT J172758.09 +380021.5 was carried out in 2019 during 134 nights. Observations covered three superoutbursts, five normal outbursts and quiescence between them. The available ASASSN and ZTF data for 2014-2020 were also examined. Spectral observations were done in 2020 when the object was in quiescence. Spectra and photometry revealed that the star is an H-rich active ER UMa-type dwarf nova with a highly variable supercycle of ~50-100 d that implies a high and variable mass-transfer rate. This object demonstrated peculiar behaviour: short-lasted superou…
We report the detection of the hot spot in light curves of the eclipsing dwarf nova HT Cassiopeiae during its superoutburst in 2010 November. Analysis of eight reconstructed light curves of the hot spot eclipses showed directly that the brightness of the hot spot was changing significantly during the superoutburst. Thereby, detected hot spot manifestation in HT Cas is the newest observational evidence for the EMT model for dwarf novae.
We performed optical simultaneous dual-band (SDSS $g'$- and $i'$- band) photometry and low-resolution spectroscopy for the WZ Sge-type dwarf nova EZ Lyn during its 2010 superoutburst. Dual-band photometry revealed that the $g'-i'$ color reddened with a decrease in brightness, during the main superoutburst and the following rebrightening phase, whereas the color became bluer with a further decrease in brightness during the slow, final decline phase. With a fit to our photometric results by a blackbody function, we estimated the disk radius ratio (ratio of the disk radius to the binary separatio…
The multi-site photometric observations of MN Dra were made over 77 nights in August-November, 2009. The total exposure was 433 hours. During this time the binary underwent two superoutbursts and five normal outbursts. During the course of first superoutburst period of positive superhumps decreased with extremely large $\dot P = -1.5 \times 1.0^{-4}$ for SU UMa-like dwarf novae, confirming known behavior of MN Dra [1]. Between the superoutbursts MN Dra displayed negative superhumps. Their period changed cyclically around 0.096-day value.
We present photometry obtained during the 2012 May and September outbursts of the frequently outbursting dwarf nova, V1227 Her. Superhumps were present in both cases with a peak-to peak amplitude of up to 0.28 mag, showing these events to be superoutbursts. We show for the first time that the system undergoes small eclipses with a depth of up to 0.08 mag, lasting 11 to 14 min, which are likely to be grazing eclipses of the accretion disc. The September outburst was the better observed of the two and lasted at least 14 days with an outburst amplitude of approximately 4 magnitudes. The mean supe…
We carried out an international spectroscopic observation campaign of the dwarf nova GW Librae (GW Lib) during the 2007 superoutburst. Our observation period covered the rising phase of the superoutburst, maximum, slowly decaying phase (plateau), and long fading tail after the rapid decline from the plateau. The spectral features dramatically changed during the observations. In the rising phase, only absorption lines of H$α$, H$β$, and H$γ$ were present. Around the maximum, the spectrum showed singly-peaked emission lines of H$α$, He I 5876, He I 6678, He II 4686, and C III/N III as well as ab…
We report on time-resolved photometry of the 2015 February-March superoutburst of QZ Virginis. The superoutburst consisted of a separated precursor, main superoutburst, and rebrightening. We detected superhumps with a period of 0.061181(42) d between the precursor and main superoutburst. Based on analyses of period changes and amplitudes of superhumps, the observed superhumps were identified as growing superhumps (stage A superhumps). The duration of stage A superhumps was about 5 d, unusually long for SU UMa-type dwarf novae. Using the obtained stage A superhump period, we estimated the mass …
We report the observation of a new dwarf nova, OT J055717+683226, during its first-ever recorded superoutburst in December 2006. Our observation shows that this object is an SU UMa-type dwarf nova having a very short superhump period of 76.67+/- 0.03 min (0.05324+/-0.00002 d). The next superoutburst was observed in March 2008. The recurrence time of superoutbursts (supercycle) is, hence, estimated to be ~480 d. The supercycle is much shorter than those of WZ Sge-type dwarf novae having supercycles of >~ 10 yr, which are a major population of dwarf novae in the shortest orbital period regime (<…
Osaki and Kato (2012) interpreted variations of the negative superhump periods, discovered by them in dwarf nova V1504 Cyg, as evidence in favor of the thermal-tidal instability model for superoutbursts. It is shown that their interpretation was incorrect. The observational evidence is recalled showing that superoutbursts are due to the enhanced mass transfer rate.
BZ UMa is a cataclysmic variable star whose specific classification has eluded researchers since its discovery in 1968. It has outburst and spectral properties consistent with both U Gem class dwarf novae and intermediate polars. We present new photometric and polarimetric measurements of recent outbursts, including the first detected superoutburst of the system. Statistical analysis of these and archival data from outbursts over the past 40 years present a case for BZ UMa as a non-magnetic, U Gem class, SU-UMa subclass dwarf novae.
Cataclysmic variable SDSS J143317.78+101123.3 with P=0.054241 d (78.1-min) was suspected to be a possible dwarf nova of WZ Sge type with the sub-stellar donor, but without detected outbursts so far. Checking the newly available data from ATLAS survey has revealed the outburst by at least 6 magnitudes in September 2020, thus confirming the dwarf nova nature of this object with the brown dwarf secondary. Other projects and individual observers have stopped their monitoring of this target several days before the outburst. This finding strengthens the value of observing the twilight zone by the pr…
We present the 2005-2010 outburst history of the SUUMa-type dwarf HS 0417+7445,along with a detailed analysis of extensive time-series photometry obtained in March 2008 during the second recorded superoutburst of the system. The mean outburst interval is 197 \pm 59 d, with a median of 193 d. The March 2008 superoutburst was preceeded by a precursor outburst, had an amplitude of 4.2 magnitudes, and the whole event lasted about 16 days. No superhumps were detected during the decline from the precursor outburst, and our data suggests instead that orbital humps were present during that phase. Earl…
Portions of the Kepler K2 Short Cadence light curve of the dwarf nova (DN) TW Vir at quiescence are investigated using light curve modeling. The light curve was separated into 24 sections, each with a data length of $\sim\,$0.93\,d, comprising 4 sections before and 20 after a superoutburst (SO). Due to the morphological differences, the quiescent orbital modulation is classified into three types. Using a fixed disk radius and the two component stellar parameters, all 24 synthetic disk models from the sections show a consistent configuration, consisting of a disk and two hotspots: one at the ve…
We report photometric and spectroscopic observations and analysis of the 2019 superoutburst of TCP J21040470+4631129. This object showed a 9-mag superoutburst with early superhumps and ordinary superhumps, which are the features of WZ Sge-type dwarf novae. Five rebrightenings were observed after the main superoutburst. The spectra during the post-superoutburst stage showed the Balmer, He I and possible sodium doublet features. The mass ratio is derived as 0.0880(9) from the period of the superhump. During the third and fifth rebrightenings, growing superhumps and superoutbursts were observed, …
We have discovered a dwarf nova (DN) of type SU UMa in Kepler data which is 7.0 arcsec from the G-type exoplanet survey target KIC 4378554. The DN appears as a background source in the pixel aperture of the foreground G star. We extracted only the pixels where the DN is present and observed the source to undergo five outbursts -- one a superoutburst -- over a timespan of 22 months. The superoutburst was triggered by a normal outburst, a feature that has been seen in all DNe superoutburst observed by Kepler. Superhumps during the super outburst had a period of 1.842+/-0.004 h and we see a trans…
We report on our photometric observations of the 2016 superoutburst of ASASSN-16eg. This object showed a WZ Sge-type superoutburst with prominent early superhumps with a period of 0.075478(8) d and a post-superoutburst rebrightening. During the superoutburst plateau, it showed ordinary superhumps with a period of 0.077880(3) d and a period derivative of 10.6(1.1) $\times$ 10$^{-5}$ in stage B. The orbital period ($P_{\rm orb}$), which is almost identical with the period of early superhumps, is exceptionally long for a WZ Sge-type dwarf nova. The mass ratio ($q$ = $M_2/M_1$) estimated from the …
A monitoring programme of CSS 121005:212625+201948 covering nearly two observing seasons has shown that it is a typical SU UMa dwarf nova, but it has one of the shortest supercycles of its class, at 66.9(6) d. The superoutbursts are interspersed with 3 to 7 short duration (~2 days) normal outbursts each of which are separated by a mean interval of 11 days, but can be as short as 2 days. The most intensively studied superoutburst was that of 2014 November, which lasted 14 days and had an outburst amplitude of >4.8 magnitudes, reaching magnitude 15.7 at its brightest. Time resolved photometry re…
In 2011 October an optical transient was reported in Pegasus as a possible nova. The object had an ultraviolet counterpart, GALEX J215818.5+241924. In this paper we present follow-up photometry of the object which revealed the presence of superhumps, with peak-to-peak amplitude of up to 0.22 magnitudes, diagnostic of it being a member of the SU UMa family of dwarf novae. The outburst amplitude was 4.6 magnitudes and it lasted at least 10 days, with a maximum brightness of magnitude 14.3. We determined the mean superhump period from our first 5 nights of observations as Psh = 0.06728(21) d. How…
We search the American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO) archives of the two best studied dwarf novae in an attempt to find light curves for long outbursts that are extremely well-characterized. The systems are U Gem and SS Cyg. Our goal is to search for embedded precursors such as those that have been found recently in the high fidelity Kepler data for superoutbursts of some members of the SU UMa subclass of dwarf novae. For the vast majority of AAVSO data, the combination of low data cadence and large errors associated with individual measurements precludes one from making any s…
We observed the 2018 November outburst of CS Ind and confirmed that it was a genuine superoutburst with a very long [0.12471(1) d in average] superhump period. The superoutburst was preceded by a long precursor, which was recorded first time in SU UMa-type dwarf novae. We interpret that the combination of a sufficient amount of mass in the disk before the ignition of the outburst and the slow development of tidal instability near the borderline of the 3:1 resonance caused a cooling front to start before the full development of tidal instability. This finding provides another support to the rec…
We report on photometric observations of WZ Sge-type dwarf novae, MASTER OT J211258.65+242145.4 and MASTER OT J203749.39+552210.3 which underwent outbursts in 2012. Early superhumps were recorded in both systems. During superoutburst plateau, ordinary superhumps with a period of 0.060291(4) d (MASTER J211258) and of 0.061307(9) d (MASTER J203749) in average were observed. MASTER J211258 and MASTER J203749 exhibited eight and more than four post-superoutburst rebrightenings, respectively. In the final part of the superoutburst, an increase in the superhump periods was seen in both systems. We h…
We report results of an extensive world-wide observing campaign devoted to a very active dwarf nova star - IX Draconis. We investigated photometric behaviour of the system to derive its basic outburst properties and understand peculiarities of IX Dra as well as other active cataclysmic variables, in particular dwarf novae of the ER Uma-type. In order to measure fundamental parameters of the system, we carried out analyses of the light curve, O-C diagram, and power spectra. During over two months of observations we detected two superoutbursts and several normal outbursts. The V magnitude of the…
We present spectroscopic and photometric observations of 17 dwarf-nova superoutbursts obtained by KOOLS-IFU mounted on the 3.8 m telescope Seimei at Okayama Observatory of Kyoto University and through VSNET collaboration. Our spectroscopic observations for six outbursts were performed within 1 d from their optical peak. 11 objects (TCP J00590972+3438357. ASASSN-19ado, TCP J06073081-0101501, ZTF20aavnpug, ASASSN-19ady, MASTER OT J061642.05+435617.9, TCP J20034647+1335125, ASASSN-20kv, ASASSN-20kw, MASTER OT J213908.79+161240.2, and ASASSN-20mf) were previously unknown systems, and our observati…
We present photometric study of NY Ser, an in-the-gap SU UMa-type nova, in 2002 and 2013. We determined the duration of the superoutburst and the mean superhump period to be 18 d and 0.10458 d, respectively. We detected in 2013 that NY Ser showed two distinct states separated by the superoutburst. A state of rather infrequent normal outbursts lasted at least 44 d before the superoutburst and a state of frequent outbursts started immediately after the superoutburst and lasted at least for 34 d. Unlike a typical SU UMa star with bimodal distribution of the outbursts duration, NY Ser displayed a …
We found that the SU UMa-type dwarf nova NY Ser in the period gap [orbital period 0.097558(6) d] showed standstills twice in 2018. This is the first clear demonstration of a standstill occurring between superoutbursts of an SU UMa-type dwarf nova. There was no sign of superhumps during the standstill, and at least one superoutburst directly started from the standstill. This provides strong evidence that the 3:1 resonance was excited during standstills. This phenomenon indicates that the disk radius can grow during standstills. We also interpret that the condition close to the limit of the tida…
We report unfiltered photometry during the first confirmed superoutburst of the recently discovered dwarf nova, SDSS J073208.11+413008.7 and conclude that it is a member of the SU UMa family. At its brightest, the star was magnitude 15.7. The outburst amplitude was nearly 5 magnitudes and it lasted about 14 days. We determined the mean superhump period from our first 3 nights of observations as Psh = 0.07979(19) d, however analysis of the O-C residuals showed a dramatic evolution in Psh during the outburst. During the first part of the plateau phase the period increased with dPsh/dt = +2.81(9)…
We observed the 2014 superoutburst of the SU UMa-type intermediate polar CC Scl. We detected superhumps with a mean period of 0.05998(2) d during the superoutburst plateau and during three nights after the fading. During the post-superoutburst stage after three nights, a stable superhump period of 0.059523(6) d was detected. We found that this object is an eclipsing system with an orbital period of 0.058567233(8) d. By assuming that the disk radius in the post-superoutburst phase is similar to those in other SU UMa-type dwarf novae, we obtained a mass ratio of q=0.072(3) from the dynamical pre…
The results of time-resolved observations of SU UMa and U Gem obtained over two-years are presented. Both stars are prototypes of different classes of dwarf novae. We studied brightness variations on different time scales: orbital, QPO and flickering. The multicolor BVRI photometry allows to distinguisch the geometrical and physical sources of these variations.
We report unfiltered photometry of BG Arietis (= SDSS J015151.87+140047.2) in 2009 and 2010 which shows the presence of superhumps with peak-to-peak amplitude of up to 0.36 magnitudes showing this to be an SU UMa type dwarf nova. The outburst amplitude was 5.1 magnitudes above a mean quiescence magnitude of 19.9. The 2010 event lasted at least 20 days during which we observed a precursor outburst which was immediately followed by a superoutburst. Modulations were observed during the rise to superoutburst with a period approximately half Porb. The mean superhump period during the plateau phase …
BO Cet is renowned cataclysmic variable having an orbital period above the period gap (0.139835 d) and showing both features of a Z Cam/IW And star and an SU UMa star. Using the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) forced photometry and the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) Sky Patrol data, I found that BO Cet underwent a superoutburst in 2022 October-November after a series of short, normal outbursts with increasing amplitudes. This sequence of outbursts (supercycle) is what is seen in many SU UMa stars and this observation strengthened the suggestion that the…
CCD photometric observations of the dwarf nova V1006 Cyg were carried out in 2015-2017 with 11 telescopes located at 7 observatories. They covered the 2015 superoutburst with rebrightening, five normal outbursts of ~4-day duration and one wide outburst that lasted at least seven days. The interval between normal outbursts was 16 and 22 days, and between superoutbursts is expected to be longer than 124 days. The positive superhumps with the mean period of 0^d.10544(10) and 0^d.10406(17) were detected during the 2015 superoutburst and during the short-term quiescence between rebrightening and th…
We report on the multi-wavelength photometry of the 2018 superoutburst in EG Cnc. We have detected stage A superhumps and long-lasting late-stage superhumps via the optical photometry and have constrained the binary mass ratio and its possible range. The median value of the mass ratio is 0.048 and the upper limit is 0.057, which still implies that EG Cnc is one of the possible candidates for the period bouncer. This object also showed multiple rebrightenings in this superoutburst, which are the same as those in its previous superoutburst in 1996--1997 despite the difference in the main superou…
