We present high-accuracy spectroscopy data of line strengths, transition probabilities and oscillator strengths for the allowed transitions among the $nS_{1/2}$, $nP_{1/2,3/2}$ and $n'D_{3/2,5/2}$ states with $n=5$ to $10$ and $n'=4$ to $10$ of the Rb-isoelectronic Zr (Zr IV) and Nb (Nb V) ions. %\textcolor{red}{except for a few transitions that seem to be unreliable.} They can serve to analyse various astrophysical phenomena undergoing inside the heavenly bodies containing Zr and Nb elements. Since there is a lack of precise observational and calculated data for the spectroscopic properties in the above ions, their accurate determinations are of immense interest. The literature data, that are available only for a few selected low-lying transitions, have large discrepancies and they cannot be used reliably for the above purpose. After accounting for electron interactions through random phase approximation, Brückner orbitals, structural radiations and normalizations of wave functions in the relativistic many-body methods, we have evaluated the electric dipole amplitudes precisely. Combining these values with the observed wavelengths, the above transition properties and lifetimes of a number of excited states of the Zr IV and Nb V ions are determined and compared with the literature data.
Partial photoionization cross sections from the ^1S ground and the ^3P metastable states of the Be isoelectronic series to different final states including a number of satellite (ionization plus excitation) channels are studied using the R-matrix method. As expected, the ratio of each satellite partial cross section to the dominant partial cross section is found to be a monotonic decreasing function of Z for both the ground and the metastable states. The complicated patterns of these ratios as functions of photon energy are analyzed.
We present precise radiative data of line strengths, transition probabilities and oscillator strengths for the allowed transitions among the $nS_{1/2}$, $nP_{1/2,3/2}$, $n'D_{3/2,5/2}$ and $n'F_{5/2,7/2}$ states with $n=4$ to $6$ and $n'=4,5$ of the Cu-isoelectronic As, Se and Br ions. Due to unavailability of precise observations of these spectroscopic data, their accurate estimations are of great interest and useful in analyzing various astrophysical phenomena undergoing inside the heavenly bodies that contain As, Se and Br elements. An all-order perturbative many-body method in the relativi…
Relativistic many-body perturbation theory is applied to study properties of ions of the francium isoelectronic sequence. Specifically, energies of the 7s, 7p, 6d, and 5f states of Fr-like ions with nuclear charges Z = 87 - 100 are calculated through third order; reduced matrix elements, oscillator strengths, transition rates, and lifetimes are determined for 7s - 7p, 7p - 6d, and 6d - 5f electric-dipole transitions; and 7s - 6d, 7s - 5f, and 5f_5/2 - 5f_7/2 multipole matrix elements are evaluated to obtain the lifetimes of low-lying excited states. Moreover, for the ions Z = 87 - 92 calculati…
In sudden perturbation approximation, the probability of the shake-up process accompanying inner-shell ionization is calculated for the isoelectronic sequences of Li-, Na- and K-like ions in the ground and excited $n$p and $n$d states. Numerical solutions of Hartree-Fock equations and hydrogen-like radial orbitals are used. Very large differences between the results of both approximations for all ions and strong dependences on ion charge are obtained at the beginning of the isoelectronic sequences.
We aim to present a comprehensive theoretical investigation of dielectronic recombination (DR) of the silicon-like isoelectronic sequence and provide DR and radiative recombination (RR) data that can be used within a generalized collisional-radiative modelling framework. Total and final-state level-resolved DR and RR rate coefficients for the ground and metastable initial levels of 16 ions between $\rm{P^{+}}$ and $\rm{Zn^{16+}}$ are determined. We carried out multi-configurational Breit-Pauli (MCBP) DR calculations for silicon-like ions in the independent processes, isolated resonance, distor…
Magnetic quadrupole and electric octupole transitions from the configurations $4p^54d^{N+1}$ and $4p^64d^{N-1}4f$ were calculated along with magnetic dipole, electric dipole and electric quadrupole radiative transitions in quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock approximation. Their significance in determining the metastable level radiative lifetimes was investigated along several isoelectronic sequences for the ions from $Z=50$ to $Z=92$. Strontium-like ions, zirconium-like ions, molybdenum-like ions and rhodium-like ions were studied comprehensively. Remaining isoelectronic sequences with the ground …
Near-threshold resonances have been studied for Be-like ions with a focus on overlapping resonances among Rydberg series converging to different thresholds. The behavior of the overlapping as a function of Z and the approach to the limit of infinite Z are investigated. The 4s4p resonance is shown and discussed in detail as an example.
Energies of 5l_j (l= s, p, d, f, g) and 4f_j states in neutral Ag and Ag-like ions with nuclear charges Z = 48 - 100 are calculated using relativistic many-body perturbation theory. Reduced matrix elements, oscillator strengths, transition rates and lifetimes are calculated for the 17 possible 5l_j-5l'_{j'} and 4f_j-5l_{j'} electric-dipole transitions. Third-order corrections to energies and dipole matrix elements are included for neutral Ag and for ions with Z<61. Second-order corrections are included for Z>60. Comparisons are made with available experimental data for transition energies and …
Relativistic third-order MBPT is applied to obtain energies of ions with two valence electrons in the no virtual-pair approximation (NVPA). A total of 302 third-order Goldstone diagrams are organized into 12 one-body and 23 two-body terms. Only third-order two-body terms and diagrams are presented here, owing to the fact that the one-body terms are identical to the previously studied third-order terms in monovalent ions. Dominant classes of diagrams are identified. The model potential is a Dirac-Hartree-Fock $V^{N-2}$ potential, and B-spline basis functions in a cavity of finite radius are emp…
Parity nonconservation amplitudes are calculated for the 7s-6d transitions of the francium isoelectronic sequence (Fr, Ra +, Ac 2+, Th 3+, Pa 4+, U 5+ and Np 6+) and for the 6s-5d transitions of the cesium isoelectronic sequence (Cs, Ba +, La 2+, Ce 3+ and Pr 4+). We show in particular that isotopes of La 2+, Ac 2+ and Th 3+ ions have strong potential in the search for new physics beyond the standard model - the PNC amplitudes are large, the calculations are accurate and the nuclei are practically stable. In addition, 232-Th 3+ ions have recently been trapped and cooled [C. J. Campbell et al.,…
Combined relativistic configuration interaction and many-body perturbation calculations are performed for the 359 fine-structure levels of the $2s^2 2p^3$, $2s 2p^4$, $2p^5$, $2s^2 2p^2 3l$, $2s 2p^3 3l$, $2p^4 3l$, and $2s^2 2p^2 4l$ configurations in N-like ions from Ar XII to Zn XXIV. A complete and consistent data set of energies, wavelengths, radiative rates, oscillator strengths, and line strengths for all possible electric dipole, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic quadrupole transitions among the 359 levels are given for each ion. The present work significantly increase…
Accurate cross section data for electron impact ionization (EII) are needed in order to interpret the spectra of collisionally ionized plasmas both in astrophysics and in the laboratory. Models and spectroscopic diagnostics of such plasmas rely on accurate ionization balance calculations, which depend, in turn, on the underlying rates for EII and electron-ion recombination. EII measurements have been carried out using the TSR storage ring located at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Kernphysik in Heidelberg, Germany. Storage ring measurements are largely free of metastable contamination, resulting …
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) database on ionization potentials for neutral atoms and ions is examined. For each isoelectronic sequence, we construct a regularized perturbative series that exactly matches the large-$Z$ and $Z\approx N-1$ regions. Comparison of the NIST data with this series allows the identification of problematic values in the reported data.
Total electronic correlation correction to the binding energies of the isoelectronic series of Beryllium, Neon, Magnesium and Argon, are calculated in the framework of relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock method. Convergence of the correlation energies is studied as the active set of orbitals is increased. The Breit interaction is treated fully self-consistently. The final results can be used in the accurately determination of atomic masses from highly charged ions data obtained in Penning-trap experiments.
We study electronic transitions in highly-charged Cf ions that are within the frequency range of optical lasers and have very high sensitivity to potential variations in the fine-structure constant, alpha. The transitions are in the optical despite the large ionisation energies because they lie on the level-crossing of the 5f and 6p valence orbitals in the thallium isoelectronic sequence. Cf16+ is a particularly rich ion, having several narrow lines with properties that minimize certain systematic effects. Cf16+ has very large nuclear charge and large ionisation energy, resulting in the larges…
Energies of ns[1/2] (n= 6-9), np[j] (n = 6-8), nd[j] (n= 6-7), and 5f[j] states in neutral Au and Au-like ions with nuclear charges Z = 80 - 83 are calculated using relativistic many-body perturbation theory. Reduced matrix elements, oscillator strengths, transition rates and lifetimes are determined for the 30 possible nl[j]-n'l'[j'] electric-dipole transitions. Results for a limited number states ns[1/2], np[j] (n= 6-7) and 6d[j] are obtained in the relativistic single-double (SD) approximation, where single and double excitations of Dirac-Fock wave functions are included to all orders in pe…
We report on large-scale and critically evaluated {\em ab initio} MCDHF calculations of the wavelength of the "coronal", M1 transition $4f\ ^2\mathrm{F}_{5/2}^o-^2\mathrm{F}_{7/2}^o$ in Ag-like ions. The transition between these two fine structure levels, which makes up the ground term for $Z \ge 62$ in the isoelectronic sequence, has recently been observed in Yb$^{23+}$ and W$^{27+}$, where the latter could be of great importance for fusion plasma diagnostics. We present recommended values for all members of the sequence between $Z = 50$ and $94$, which are supported by excellent agreement wi…
Recent advance in calculations of energy levels of the 1s2$l$2$l^{\prime}$ core-excited states for ions along the Li isoelectronic sequence from carbon to uranium suggested that theoretical predictions for the 1s2$l$2$l^{\prime}$ transitions are significantly more precise than most of the experimental results available today and can thus be used for calibrating measured X-ray spectra. This suggestion is verified in the present work by comparison with benchmark experimental results. We present a critical compilation of all available experimental data on the energy levels of the 1s2$l$2$l^{\prim…
We report here on calculation of probabilities of intercombination transitions $2s^2$ $^1S_0$ - $2s2p$ $^3P_1$, $2s3p$ $^3P_1$ for Be-like ions along the isoelectronic sequence for large range of $Z$. Our results obtained with the $1/Z$ expansion method agree well with experimental data including the recent ones.
Level crossings in the ground state of ions occur when the nuclear charge Z and ion charge Z_ion are varied along an isoelectronic sequence until the two outermost shells are nearly degenerate. We examine all available level crossings in the periodic table for both near neutral ions and highly charged ions (HCIs). Normal E1 transitions in HCIs are in X-ray range, however level crossings allow for optical electromagnetic transitions that could form the reference transition for high accuracy atomic clocks. Optical E1 (due to configuration mixing), M1 and E2 transitions are available in HCIs near…
Aims. In the context of black-hole accretion disks, the main goal of the present study is to estimate the plasma environment effects on the atomic structure and radiative parameters associated with the K-vacancy states in ions of the oxygen isonuclear sequence. Methods. We use a time-averaged Debye-Huckel potential for both the electron-nucleus and the electron-electron interactions implemented in the fully relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock (MCDF) method. Results. Modified ionization potentials, K thresholds, Auger widths and radiative transition wavelengths and rates are reported for…
Aims. In the context of accretion disks around black holes, we estimate plasma-environment effects on the atomic parameters associated with the decay of K-vacancy states in highly charged iron ions, namely Fe xvii - Fe xxv. Methods. Within the relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock (MCDF) framework, the electron-nucleus and electron-electron plasma screenings are approximated with a time-averaged Debye-Huckel potential. Results. Modified ionization potentials, K thresholds, wavelengths, radiative emission rates and Auger widths are reported for astrophysical plasmas characterized by electr…
In this work we report on ab initio theoretical results for the magnetic field induced 2s2p ^3P_0 - 2s^2 ^1S_0 E1 transition for ions in the beryllium isoelectronic sequence between Z=5 and 92. It has been proposed that the rate of the E1M1 two-photon transition 2s2p ^3P_0 - 2s^2 ^1S_0 can be extracted from the lifetime of the ^3P_0 state in Be-like ions with zero nuclear spin by employing resonant recombination in a storage-ring. This experimental approach involves a perturbing external magnetic field. The effect of this field needs to be evaluated in order to properly extract the two-photon …
We calculate sensitivity coefficients to $α$-variation for the fine-structure transitions (1,0) and (2,1) within $^3P_J[2s^2 2p^2]$ multiplet of the Carbon-like ions C I, N II, O III, Na VI, Mg VII, and Si IX. These transitions lie in the far infrared region and are in principle observable in astrophysics for high redshifts z~10. This makes them very promising candidates for the search for possible $α$-variation on a cosmological timescale. In such studies one of the most dangerous sources of systematic errors is associated with isotope shifts. We calculate isotope shifts with the help of rela…
We review recent work on the photoionization of atomic ions of astrophysical interest that has been carried out at the photon-ion merged-beams setup PIPE, a permanently installed end station at the XUV beamline P04 of the PETRAIII synchrotron radiation source operated by DESY in Hamburg, Germany. Our results on single and multiple L-shell photoionization of Fe+, Fe2+, and Fe3+ ions and on single and multiple K-shell photoionization of C-, C+, C4+, Ne+, and Si2+ ions are discussed in astrophysical contexts. Moreover, these experimental results bear witness of the fact, that the implementation o…
Large-scale self-consistent multiconfiguration Dirac--Hartree--Fock and relativistic configuration interaction calculations are reported for the $n \leq 6$ levels in Be-like ions from B II to Ne VII. Effects from electron correlation are taken into account by means of large expansions in terms of a basis of configuration state functions, and a complete and accurate data set of excitation energies, lifetimes, wavelengths, and electric dipole, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic quadrupole line strengths, transition rates, and oscillator strengths for these levels is provided for …
Past and ongoing research activities at the Heidelberg heavy-ion storage-ring TSR are reviewed which aim at providing accurate absolute rate coefficients and cross sections of atomic collision processes for applications in astrophysics and magnetically confined fusion. In particular, dielectronic recombination and electron impact ionization of iron ions are discussed as well as dielectronic recombination of tungsten ions.
We demonstrate a method for precision spectroscopy on trapped ions in the limit of unresolved motional sidebands. By sympathetic cooling of a chain of crystallized ions we suppress adverse temperature variations induced by the spectroscopy laser that usually lead to a distorted line profle and obtain a Voigt profile with negligible distortions. We applied the method to measure the absolute frequency of the astrophysically relevant D2 transition in single 24-Mg+ ions and find 1072082934.33(16)MHz, a nearly 400fold improvement over previous results. Further, we find the excited state lifetime to…
The influence of nonlinear dynamical effects is analyzed on the observed spectra of controversial 3C and 3D astrophysically relevant x-ray lines in neonlike Fe${}^{16+}$ and the A, B, C lines in natriumlike Fe${}^{15+}$ ions. First, a large-scale configuration-interaction calculation of oscillator strengths is performed with the inclusion of higher-order electron-correlation effects. Also, quantum-electrodynamic corrections to the transition energies are calculated. Further considered dynamical effects provide a possible resolution of the discrepancy between theory and experiment found by rece…
Photoabsorption by and fluorescence of the Kα transitions in highly charged iron ions are essential mechanisms for X-ray radiation transfer in astrophysical environments. We study photoabsorption due to the main Kα transitions in highly charged iron ions from heliumlike to fluorinelike (Fe 24+...17+) using monochromatic X-rays around 6.6 keV at the PETRA III synchrotron photon source. Natural linewidths were determined with hitherto unattained accuracy. The observed transitions are of particular interest for the understanding of photoexcited plasmas found in X-ray binaries and active galactic …
Line intensities and oscillator strengths for the controversial 3C and 3D astrophysically relevant lines in neonlike Fe${}^{16+}$ ions are calculated. We show that, for strong x-ray sources, the modeling of the spectral lines by a peak with an area proportional to the oscillator strength is not sufficient and non-linear dynamical effects have to be taken into account. Furthermore, a large-scale configuration-interaction calculation of oscillator strengths is performed with the inclusion of higher-order electron-correlation effects. The dynamical effects give a possible resolution of discrepanc…
The main goal of the present work is to estimate the effects of plasma environment on the atomic parameters associated with the K-vacancy states in highly charged iron ions within the astrophysical context of accretion disks around black holes. In order to do this, multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock computations have been carried out by considering a time averaged Debye-Hückel potential for both the electron-nucleus and electron-electron interactions. In the present paper, a first sample of results related to the ionization potentials, the K-thresholds, the transition energies and the radiative emi…
Emission lines from highly-excited states (n >= 5) of H- and He-like ions have been detected in astrophysical sources and fusion plasmas. For such excited states, R-matrix or distorted wave calculations for electron-impact excitation are very limited, due to the large size of the atomic basis set needed to describe them. Calculations for n >= 6 are also not generally available. We study the behaviour of the electron-impact excitation collision strengths and effective collision strengths for the most important transitions used to model electron collision dominated astrophysical plasmas, solar, …
In cold core of dark molecular clouds, where the UV radiation from external sources is strongly attenuated, cosmic rays can induce chemical reactions on the surface of ice-covered grains promoting the ejection of the processed material to the gas phase. We report the positive and negative secondary ion emission from pure CH3CN, C2H3CN and i-C3H7CN ices due to the bombardment of heavy ions (252Cf fission fragments), simulating the incidence of cosmic rays onto icy surfaces. The secondary ions emitted from each sample were analysed by time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS), using Plasma Desor…
Using the multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock and the relativistic configuration interaction methods, a consistent set of transition energies and radiative transition data for the main states of the $2s^2 2p^4$, $2s 2p^5$, $2p^6$, $2s^2 2p^3 3s$, $2s^2 2p^3 3p$, $2s^2 2p^3 3d$, $2s 2p^4 3s$, $2s 2p^4 3p$, and $2s 2p^4 3d$ configurations in O-like Ions between Ar XI ($Z = 18$) and Cr XVII ($Z = 24$) is provided. Our data set is compared with the NIST compiled values and previous calculations. The data are accurate enough for identification and deblending of new emission lines from hot astroph…
Accurate values of electric dipole (E1) amplitudes along with their uncertainties for a number of transitions among low-lying states of Mg$^+$, Ca$^+$, Sr$^+$, and Ba$^+$ are listed by carrying out calculations using a relativistic all-order many-body method. By combining experimental wavelengths with these amplitudes, we quote transition probabilities, oscillator strengths and lifetimes of many short-lived excited states of the above ions. The uncertainties in these radiative properties are also quoted. We also give electric quadrupole (E2) and magnetic dipole (M1) amplitudes of the metastabl…
The IRON Project, initiated in 1991, aims at two main objectives, i) study the characteristics of and calculate large-scale high accuracy data for atomic radiative and collisional processes, and ii) application in solving astrophysical problems. It focuses on the complex iron and iron-peak elements commonly observed in the spectra of astrophysical plasmas. The present report will illustrate the characteristics of the dominant atomic process of photoionization that have been established under the project and the preceding the Opacity Project and their importance in applications.
Dielectronic recombination data for astrophysical applications: Plasma rate-coefficients for Fe^q+ (q=7-10, 13-22) and Ni^25+ ions from storage-ring experiments
In continuation to our earlier reported data on the electric dipole (E1) matrix elements and lifetimes of the metastable states of the alkaline earth ions in [Atomic Data and Nuc. Data Tables {\bf 137} (2021) 101381], we present here the tune-out and magic wavelengths of the Mg$^+$, Ca$^+$, Sr$^+$ and Ba$^+$ alkaline earth-metal ions by determining dynamic E1 polarizabilities. Furthermore, we have evaluated the electric quadrupole (E2) matrix elements of a large number of forbidden transitions using an all-order relativistic many-body method and compare them with the previously reported values…
We report theoretical results for magnetic field induced $2p^53s^3P_{0,2} - 2p^6^1S_0$ E1 transitions in Ne-like ions with zero nuclear spin (I=0) between Mg III and Zn XXI as well as in Ne I. We demonstrate that it is important to include both ``perturber'' states $2p^53s^1P_1$ and $2p^53s^3P_1$ in order to produce reliable transition rates. Furthermore, we investigate the trends of the rates along the isoelectronic sequence of the $2p^53s^3P_{0,2} - 2p^6^1S_0$ transitions and their competition with the $2p^53s^3P_0 - 2p^53s^3P_1$ M1 and the $2p^53s^3P_2 - 2p^6^1S_0$ M2 decays. For the $2p^53…
In this paper, we have carried out the calculations of the weighted oscillator strengths and the transition probabilities for a few low-lying transitions of boron-like ions: Mg VIII, Si X and S XII which are astrophysically important, particularly, in the atmospheres of the solar corona. We have employed an all-order relativistic many-body theory called the relativistic coupled-cluster theory to calculate very precisely these atomic quantities of astrophysical interest. We have reported for the first time the transition probabilities for some forbidden transitions which are unavailable in the …
The fully relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac--Hartree--Fock method is used to compute excitation energies and lifetimes for the 143 lowest states of the $3s^23p^3$, $3s3p^4$, $3s^23p^23d$, $3s3p^33d$, $3p^5$, $3s^23p3d^2$ configurations in P-like ions from Cr X to Zn XVI. Multipole (E1, M1, E2, M2) transition rates, line strengths, oscillator strengths, and branching fractions among these states are also given. Valence-valence and core-valence electron correlation effects are systematically accounted for using large basis function expansions. Computed excitation energies are compared with t…
Absolute dielectronic recombination (DR) rates for lithium-like Ni$^{25+}$($1s^2 2s$) ions were measured at high-energy resolution at the Heidelberg heavy-ion storage ring TSR. We studied the center-of-mass energy range 0--130 eV which covers all $Δn$=0 core excitations. The influence of external crossed electric (0--300 V/cm) and magnetic (41.8--80.1 mT) fields was investigated. For the measurement at near-zero electric field resonance energies and strengths are given for Rydberg levels up to n$=$32; also Maxwellian plasma rate coefficients for the $Δn$=0 DR at electron temperatures between 0…

Our two data sets are compared w…
Level energies, wavelengths, electric dipole, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic quadrupole transition rates, oscillator strengths, and line strengths from combined relativistic configuration interaction and many-body perturbation calculations are reported for the 201 fine-structure states of the $2s^2 2p^6$, $2s^2 2p^5 3l$, $2s 2p^6 3l$, $2s^2 2p^5 4l$, $2s 2p^6 4l$, $2s^2 2p^5 5l$, and $2s^2 2p^5 6l$ configurations in all Ne-like ions between Cr XV and Kr XXVII. Calculated level energies and transition data are compared with experiments from the NIST and CHIANTI databases, an…
We report the implementation of equation-of-motion coupled-cluster (EOMCC) method in the four-component relativistic framework with the spherical atomic potential to generate the excited states from a closed-shell atomic configuration. This theoretical development will be very useful to carry out high precision calculations of varieties of atomic properties in many atomic systems. We employ this method to calculate excitation energies of many low-lying states in a few Ne-like highly charged ions, such as Cr XV, Fe XVII, Co XVIII and Ni XIX ions, and compare them against their corresponding exp…
Aims. In the context of black-hole accretion disks, we aim to compute the plasma-environment effects on the atomic parameters used to model the decay of K-vacancy states in moderately charged iron ions, namely Fe ix - Fe xvi. Methods. We used the fully relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock (MCDF) method approximating the plasma electron-nucleus and electron-electron screenings with a time-averaged Debye-Huckel potential. Results. We report modified ionization potentials, K-threshold energies, wavelengths, radiative emission rates, and Auger widths for plasmas characterized by electron tem…
Emission lines of Be-like ions are frequently observed in astrophysical plasmas, and many are useful for density and temperature diagnostics. However, accurate atomic data for energy levels, radiative rates (A-values) and effective electron excitation collision strengths ($Υ$) are required for reliable plasma modelling. In general it is reasonably straightforward to calculate energy levels and A- values to a high level of accuracy. By contrast, considerable effort is required to calculate $Υ$, and hence it is not always possible to assess the accuracy of available data. Recently, two independe…
Spectral lines from N-like ions can be used to measure the temperature and density of various types of astrophysical plasmas. The atomic databases of astrophysical plasma modelling codes still have room for improvement in their electron-impact excitation data sets for N-like ions, especially $R$-matrix data. This is particularly relevant for future observatories (e.g. Arcus) which will host high-resolution spectrometers. We aim to obtain level-resolved effective collision strengths for all transitions up to $nl=5d$ over a wide range of temperatures for N-like ions from O II to Zn XXIV (i.e., O…
We use the multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock (MCDHF) method combined with the relativistic configuration interaction (RCI) approach (GRASP2K) to provide a consistent set of transition energies and radiative transition data for the lower $n =3$ states in all Cl-like ions of astrophysical importance, from \ion{Cr}{8} to \ion{Zn}{14}. We also provide excitation energies calculated for \mbox{Fe X} using the many-body perturbation theory (MBPT, implemented within FAC). The comparison of the present MCDHF results with MBPT and with the available experimental energies indicates that the theoretic…
We list vacuum wavelengths, energy levels, statistical weights, transition probabilities and oscillator strengths for permitted resonance spectral lines of all ions of 18 astrophysically important elements (H through Si, S, Ar, Ca, Fe). Using a compilation of experimental energy levels, we derived accurate wavelengths for 5599 lines of 1828 ground-term multiplets which have gf-values calculated in the Opacity Project. We recalculated the Opacity Project multiplet gf-values to oscillator strengths and transition probabilities of individual lines. For completeness, we added 372 resonance lines o…
We present total and final-state resolved charge transfer (CT) rate coefficients for low-charge Ge, Se, Br, Kr, Rb, and Xe ions reacting with neutral hydrogen over the temperature range 10^2--10^6 K. Each of these elements has been detected in ionized astrophysical nebulae, particularly planetary nebulae. CT rate coefficients are a key ingredient for the ionization equilibrium solutions needed to determine total elemental abundances from those of the observed ions. A multi-channel Landau Zener approach was used to compute rate coefficients for projectile ions with charges q=2-5, and for singly…
