Riemann-Hurwitz theorem and second main theorem for harmonic morphisms on graphs or metrized complexes

In this article, we mainly obtain the Riemann-Hurwitz theorems for harmonic morphisms on (vertex-weighted) metric graphs or metrized complexes of algebraic curves, inspired of the recent work on harmonic morphisms of graphs or metrized complexes due to many researchers. By making use of these Riemann-Hurwitz theorems, we then systematically establish the second main theorems for harmonic morphisms on finite graphs, vertex-weighted graphs, (vertex-weighted) metric graphs or metrized complexes of algebraic curves, from the viewpoint of Nevanlinna theory.

Lifting harmonic morphisms II: tropical curves and metrized complexes

In this paper we prove several lifting theorems for morphisms of tropical curves. We interpret the obstruction to lifting a finite harmonic morphism of augmented metric graphs to a morphism of algebraic curves as the non-vanishing of certain Hurwitz numbers, and we give various conditions under which this obstruction does vanish. In particular we show that any finite harmonic morphism of (non-augmented) metric graphs lifts. We also give various applications of these results. Lifting harmonic morphisms I: metrized complexes and Berkovich skeleta

Let K be an algebraically closed, complete non-Archimedean field. The purpose of this paper is to carefully study the extent to which finite morphisms of algebraic K-curves are controlled by certain combinatorial objects, called skeleta. A skeleton is a metric graph embedded in the Berkovich analytification of X. A skeleton has the natural structure of a metrized complex of curves. We prove that a finite morphism of K-curves gives rise to a finite harmonic morphism of a suitable choice of skeleta. Riemann-Hurwitz formula for finite morphisms of $p$-adic curves

Given a finite morphism $φ:Y\to X$ of quasi-smooth Berkovich curves over a complete, algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $0$, we prove a Riemann-Hurwitz formula relating their Euler-Poincaré characteristics (calculated using De Rham cohomology of their overconvergent structure sheaf). The main tools are $p$-adic Runge's theorem together with valuation polygons of analytic functions. Using the results obtained, we provide another point of view on Riemann-Hurwitz formula for finite morphisms of curves over algebraically closed fields of positive characteristic.

Tropical Hurwitz Spaces

Hurwitz numbers are a weighted count of degree d ramified covers of curves with specified ramification profiles at marked points on the codomain curve. Isomorphism classes of these covers can be included as a dense open set in a moduli space, called a Hurwitz space. The Hurwitz curve over a finite field and its Weierstrass points for the morphism of lines

For any smooth Hurwitz curve $\mathcal{H}_n: \, XY^n+YZ^n+X^nZ=0$ over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_{p}$, an explict description of its Weierstrass points for the morphism of lines is presented. As a consequence, the full automorphism group ${\rm Aut}(\mathcal{H}_n)$, as well as the genera of all Galois subcovers of $\mathcal{H}_n$, with $n\neq 3, p^r$, are computed. Finally, a question by F. Torres on plane non nonsingular maximal curves is answered.

A Riemann-Hurwitz Formula for Skeleta in Non-Archimedean Geometry

Let $ϕ: C' \to C$ be a finite morphism between smooth, projective, irreducible curves defined over a non-archimedean valued, algebraically closed field $k$. Rational and iterated maps, degeneracy loci, and the generalized Riemann-Hurwitz formula

We consider a generalized Riemann-Hurwitz formula as it may be applied to rational maps between projective varieties having an indeterminacy set and fold-like singularities. The case of a holomorphic branched covering map is recalled. Then we see how the formula can be applied to iterated maps having branch-like singularities. Separately, we consider a further application involving the Chern classes of determinantal varieties when the latter are realized as the degeneracy loci of certain vector bundle morphisms.

Harmonic morphisms and hyperelliptic graphs

We study harmonic morphisms of graphs as a natural discrete analogue of holomorphic maps between Riemann surfaces. We formulate a graph-theoretic analogue of the classical Riemann-Hurwitz formula, study the functorial maps on Jacobians and harmonic 1-forms induced by a harmonic morphism, and present a discrete analogue of the canonical map from a Riemann surface to projective space.
