Now Standard $Λ$CDM cosmology is based on physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM), which in turn needs cosmological probes for its study. This vicious circle of problems can be resolved by methods of cosmoparticle physics, in which cosmological messengers of new physics provide sensitive model dependent probes for BSM physics. Such messengers, which are inevitably present in any BSM basis for now Standard cosmology, lead to deviations from the Standard cosmological paradigm. We give brief review of some possible cosmological features and messengers of BSM physics, which include balancing of baryon asymmetry and dark matter by sphaleron transitions, hadronic dark matter and exotic cosmic ray components, a solution for puzzles of direct dark matter searches in dark atom model, antimatter in baryon asymmetrical Universe as sensitive probe for models of inflation and baryosynthesis and its possible probe in AMS02 experiment, PBH and GW messengers of BSM models and phase transitions in early Universe. These aspects are discussed in the general framework of methods of cosmoparticle physics.
The lack of experimental evidence at the LHC for physics beyond the Standard model (BSM) of elementary particles together with necessity of its existence to provide solutions of internal problems of the Standard model (SM) as well as of physical nature of the basic elements of the modern cosmology demonstrates the conspiracy of BSM physics. Simultaneously the data of precision cosmology only tighten the constraints on the deviations from the now standard LambdaCDM model and thus exhibit conspiracy of the nonstandard cosmological scenarios. We show that studying new physics in combination of it…
The modern Standard cosmological model of inflationary Unvierse and baryosynthesis deeply involves particle theory beyond the Standard model (BSM). Inevitably, models of BSM physics lead to cosmological scenarios beyond the Standard cosmological paradigm. Scenarios of dark atom cosmology in the context of puzzles of direct and indirect dark matter searches, of clusters of massive primordial black holes as the source of gravitational wave signals and of antimatter globular cluster as the source of cosmic antihelium are discussed.
The cosmic history before the BBN is highly determined by the physics that operates beyond the Standard Model (BSM) of particle physics and it is poorly constrained observationally. Ongoing and future precision measurements of the CMB observables can provide us with significant information about the pre-BBN era and hence possibly test the cosmological predictions of different BSM scenarios. Supersymmetry is a particularly motivated BSM theory and it is often the case that different superymmetry breaking schemes require different cosmic histories with specific reheating temperatures or low entr…
We show how knowledge of the cold dark matter (CDM) density can be used, in conjunction with measurements of the parameters of a scenario for beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics, to provide information about the evolution of the Universe before Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN). As examples of non-standard evolution, we consider models with a scalar field that may decay into BSM particles, and quintessence models. We illustrate our calculations using various supersymmetric models as representatives of classes of BSM scenarios in which the CDM density is either larger or smaller than the obser…
The observational evidence for the inflationary cosmology with baryosynthesis and dark matter/energy can be viewed as the messenger for new physics, which governed the Universe origin, evolution and structure. To specify the physics beyond the Standard model (BSM), underlying the modern cosmological paradigm additional model dependent messengers are proposed, involving multi-component and composite dark matter, meta-stable particles, primordial black holes and antimatter domains in baryon asymmetrical Universe.
Electron-proton ($e^-p$) colliders are an ideal laboratory to study common features of electron and quarks with production via electroweak bosons, leptoquarks, multi-jet final states and very forward physics, due to their impressive pseudorapidity coverage. In addition to these physics cases, there exist a broad Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) program aimed at exploring the capabilities of the LHeC [1] and FCC-he [2] for several New Physics scenarios. Although their centre-of-mass energy is down with respect to a $pp$ collider by a factor of $\sqrt{E_p/E_e} \sim 10~(30)$ for the LHeC (FCC-he),…
We discuss the most relevant features of a BSM model with extra gauge symmetry, the so called 331 model. The gauge group is $SU(3)_c\times SU(3)_L \times U(1)_X$ impling the presence of extra gauge bosons, both charged and neutral, as well as extra/exotic fermions and an enlarged scalar sector. We present the relevant phenomenology of doubly-charged gauge bosons, which are a distinctive feature of a version of the 331 model, and discuss the role of BSM phenomenology as a tool for testing GUT (inspired) theories.
We describe recent work on the physics of the Higgs boson at future muon colliders. Starting from the low energy muon collider at the Higgs boson pole we extend our discussion to the multi-TeV muon collider and outline the physics case for such machines about the properties of the Higgs boson and physics beyond the Standard Model that can be possibly discovered.
Discoveries come through exclusions, confirmations or revolutionary findings with respect to a theory canon populated by the Standard Model (SM) and beyond the SM (BSM) theories. Guaranteed discoveries are accomplished only through pursuit of BSM exclusion/confirmation, and thus require investment in the continual formation and analysis of a vibrant theory canon combined with investment in experiment with demonstrated capacity to make BSM exclusions/confirmations. Risks develop when steering away from BSM-oriented work toward its methodological rival, "signalism," which seeks to realize SM fal…
These lectures provide a self-contained introduction to the essential aspects of non-supersymmetric beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics for beginning graduate students who are already familiar with quantum field theory. After a detailed review of the physical meaning of the hierarchy problem, we introduce the key ingredients of the physics of Goldstone bosons necessary for many non-supersymmetric new physics models. Next we discuss the concept of collective symmetry breaking and present the main elements leading to little Higgs/composite Higgs models. We then turn to extra dimensional theo…
In this talk I will illustrate with two examples (Higgsino dark matter and Exotic Higgs decays) how electron-proton colliders present unique opportunities to probe BSM scenarios where proton-proton colliders fall short due to the experimental difficulties in reconstructing the signal due to the large hadronic backgrounds. The leit-motiv of these examples are long-lived particles (LLPs), which have received recently a lot of attention from both the experimental and theoretical communities. We find that the proposed $e^-p$ colliders can be competitive against their more energetic $pp$ incarnatio…
This topical group focuses on searches for signals from physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM), both from a theoretical and experimental perspective, including neutrino-related BSM and searches for BSM in other sectors using neutrino facilities.
With the advent of a new generation of neutrino experiments which leverage high-intensity neutrino beams for precision measurements, it is timely to explore physics topics beyond the standard neutrino-related physics. Given that the realm of beyond the standard model (BSM) physics has been mostly sought at high-energy regimes at colliders, such as the LHC at CERN, the exploration of BSM physics in neutrino experiments will enable complementary measurements at the energy regimes that balance that of the LHC. This is in concert with new ideas for high-intensity beams for fixed target and beam-du…
We reiterate that there is significant complementarity between low-energy experiments and high-energy colliders in exploring new physics associated with neutrino properties and their mass generation mechanisms. Signals of the new physics in the two energy regimes may be correlated with each other from the same underlying dynamics. We demonstrate the complementary nature by presenting the physics reaches for the Seesaw models of Type I, II and III, and for general neutrino interactions in an effective field theory framework, and in a $Z'$ model.
Muon electron scattering experiments such as the proposed MUonE experiment, offer an opportunity for an improved measurement of the Leading Order hadronic running of $α$, denoted $Δα_{\rm{had}}$. Such a measurement could be utilized to reduce the theoretical uncertainty on the prediction of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $g-2$. Currently there is a discrepancy between theory and data for this observable which could potentially be explained by Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics. Here we investigate the possible impact of missing Standard Model (SM) higher order corrections and …
Semileptonic Flavor Changing Neutral Current decays of charmed hadrons uniquely probe the up-sector of the Standard Model. Clean null test observables, such as CP-asymmetries, lepton-universality ratios, missing energy modes, lepton flavor violating modes and angular observables can be studied in a variety of charmed meson and baryon modes. An overview of null test opportunities with rare charm decays is presented and similarities and complementarities of different modes are worked out.
Theoretical calculations Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) constitute a challenge for high energy physicists, but are necessary when searching for New Physics. The predictions of a BSM scenario need to be compared with experimental data and the Standard Model values in order to identify the model that fits better what we observe in particle colliders. BSM predictions require very involved and error prone calculations of amplitudes, cross-sections and Wilson coefficients. Calculations at the one-loop level are often necessary for these quantities since some phenomenologically important processes …
I give a short overview on di-Higgs productions in models that extend the Standard Model of particle physics by additional fields and particle content, including EFT prescriptions.
We have reached a new era of particle physics in which the properties of the Higgs boson, in particular its mass, turned into precision observables. Therefore, it is necessary to have accurate predictions of these properties in models for new physics. I give an overview of available tools for supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric models which are publically available. Afterwards, the main idea behind generic tools to study a large variety of models is summarised. Also some remarks about the validity of checks for perturbative unitarity, which are often applied for non-supersymmetric models, ar…
Some 67 years ago (1951) Wolfgang Pauli mooted the three sum rules: \[ \sum_n (-1)^{2S_n} g_n = 0; \qquad \sum_n (-1)^{2S_n} g_n \; m_n^2 =0; \qquad \sum_n (-1)^{2S_n} g_n \; m_n^4=0. \] These three sum rules are intimately related to both the Lorentz invariance and the finiteness of the zero-point stress-energy tensor. Further afield, these three constraints are also intimately related to the existence of finite QFTs ultimately based on fermi--bose cancellations. (Supersymmetry is neither necessary nor sufficient for the existence of these finite QFTs; though softly but explicitly broken supe…
We describe some salient features of the $331_F$ (Frampton-Pisano-Pleitez) bilepton model, in which the constraints of anomaly cancelation require the number of generations to be three. In a class of six models, four of which characterised by a $β$ parameter describing the embedding of the hypercharge in the $SU(3)_L$ symmetry, a specific choice for $β$ allows bileptons in the spectrum, i.e. vectors and scalars of lepton numbers $\pm 2$. At the same time the model allows exotic quarks, with the third quark generation treated asymmetrically respect to the other two. Bileptons generate specific …
FlexibleSUSY is a software package for various calculations in any model of physics beyond the standard model (not just any supersymmetric model). FlexibleSUSY can solve boundary value problems and uses this to find $\overline{DR}/\overline{MS}$ parameters and calculate the Higgs and BSM particle masses, as well as other observables. FlexibleSUSY is designed to be adaptable, fast, precise and reliable. We describe FlexibleSUSY with particular emphasis on recent developments and the state of the art Higgs mass calculations it can perform. We also show some applications to illustrate how it can …
Rare $\vert Δc \vert=\vert Δu \vert=1$ processes uniquely probe flavor in the Standard Model and beyond from the up-type quark sector. Opportunities to search for BSM physics in charm arise from the severe GIM suppression which kills SM contributions to leptonic axial-vector contributions and suppresses CP violation. Semileptonic decays of charmed hadrons offer a variety of clean null test observables, featuring new physics effects which are even enhanced by resonance contributions. In particular, angular observables in three- and self-analyzing four-body baryon decays, such as $Λ_c\to p \ell^…
Future electron-proton collider proposals like the LHeC or the FCC-eh can supply 1/ab of collisions with a center-of-mass energy in the TeV range, while maintaining a clean experimental environment more commonly associated with lepton colliders. We point out that this makes electron-proton colliders ideally suited to probe BSM signatures with final states that look like "hadronic noise" in the high-energy, pile-up-rich environment of hadron colliders. We focus on the generic vector boson fusion production mechanism, which is available for all BSM particles with electroweak charges at mass scal…
New developments in both the theories and experiments related to the extraction of the top-row Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements $V_{ud}$ and $V_{us}$ led to a series of new anomalies, for instance the apparent violation of the top-row unitarity relation. It is important to further reduce all the associated Standard Model theory uncertainties in order to better understand whether such observations point towards the possibility of physics beyond the Standard Model, or rather some unexpectedly large Standard Model effects. This requires improved studies of tree-level and higher-order Sta…
