Causal dissipative model is a plausible choice to explain the late accelerated epoch of universe. At the same time $Λ$CDM is considered to be standard model to explain the cosmological data corresponding to the late evolution of the universe. We consider a bulk viscus model in which the dissipation is driven by the bulk viscosity $ζ=αρ^{1/2}$, described using the full causal Israel-Stewart theory. We computed the model parameters using the latest observational data (Pantheon). We contrasted this model with $Λ$CDM model for the late accelerated phase using Bayesian inference method. The Bayes factor has been obtained by calculating the likelihood for Pantheon data. Suitable prior values has been assumed for model parameters for calculating the likelihood. It shows that the evidence for $Λ$CDM against this viscous model is very strong according to Jeffrey's scale.
In this paper we explore the different types of singularities that arise in the $Λ$CDM model when dissipative processes are considered, in the framework of the Eckart's theory. In particular, we study the late-time behavior of $Λ$CDM model with viscous cold dark matter (CDM) and an early-time viscous radiation domination era with cosmological constant (CC). The fluids are described by the barotropic equation of state (EoS) $p=(γ-1)ρ$, where $p$ is the equilibrium pressure of the fluid, $ρ$ their energy density, and $γ$ is the barotropic index. We explore two particular cases for the bulk visco…
In this paper, we reconstruct the $f(R)$ theory using the viscous $ω$CDM scenario (V-$ω$CDM) constrained by several differently astrophysical observations, including Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), observational Hubble parameter data (OHD), Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe 9-year data (WMAP-9), Planck observations and the single data point from the newest event GW150914 (GW). We find that the joint constraints from SNe Ia+OHD+Planck+GW data-sets give out a tighter restriction for the parameters of the V-$ω$CDM scenario than other constraints. Subsequently, we find that there exists a substant…
In our previous works, we have analyzed the evolution of bulk viscous matter dominated universe with a more general form for bulk viscous coefficient, $ζ=ζ_{0}+ζ_{1}\frac{\dot{a}}{a}+ζ_{2}\frac{\ddot{a}}{\dot{a}}$ and also carried out the dynamical system analysis. We found that the model reasonably describes the evolution of the universe if the viscous coefficient is a constant. In the present work we are contrasting this model with the standard $Λ$CDM model of the universe using the Bayesian method. We have shown that, even though the viscous model gives a reasonable back ground evolution of…
In the present work we report a study on the viscous extended holographic Ricci dark energy (EHRDE) model under the assumption of existence of bulk viscosity in the linear barotropic fluid and the EHRDE in the framework of standard Eckart theory of relativistic irreversible thermodynamics and it has been observed that the non-equilibrium bulk viscous pressure is significantly smaller than the local equilibrium pressure. We have studied the equation of state (EoS) parameter and observed that the EoS behaves like "quintom" and is consistent with the constraints set by observational data sets fro…
We consider a cosmological model dominated by stiff fluid with a constant bulk viscosity. We classify all the possible cases of the universe predicted by the model and analyzing the scale factor, density as well as the curvature scalar. We find that when the dimensionless constant bulk viscous parameter is in the range $0 < \barζ<6$ the model began with a Big Bang, and make a transition form the decelerating expansion epoch to an accelerating epoch, then tends to the de Sitter phase as $ t\to \infty$. The transition into the accelerating epoch would be in the recent past, when $4<\barζ<6.$ For…
Some cosmological scenarios with bulk viscosity for the dark energy fluid are considered. Based on some considerations related to hydrodynamics, two different equations of state for dark energy are assumed, leading to power-law and logarithmic effective corrections to the pressure. The models are tested with the latest astronomical data from Type Ia supernovae (Pantheon sample), measurements of the Hubble parameter $H(z)$, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations and Cosmic Microwave Background radiation. In comparison with $Λ$CDM model, some different results are obtained and their viability is discussed…
We study non-viscous and viscous holographic dark energy models for a homogeneous and isotropic flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker Universe in $f(R,T)$ gravity. We find that the Hubble horizon as an IR cut-off is suitable for both the models to explain the recent accelerated expansion of the Universe. The cosmological parameters like deceleration parameter and statefinder parameters are discussed in each model. In non-viscous model a constant deceleration parameter is found which shows that there is no phase transition. The constraints on the parameters are obtained to analyse the fixed point val…
We study the late acceleration of the universe by incorporating bulk viscous matter with the running vacuum. The vacuum energy density varies as the squares of the Hubble parameter ($ρ_Λ\propto H^2$), and the coefficient of bulk viscosity of matter is proportional to the velocity of expansion ($ξ\propto H$). We obtained an analytical solution to the Friedmann equations and estimated the model parameters using the combined data set SN1a+CMB+BAO+OHD. We have evaluated the universe's age as 14 Gyr, which is slightly higher than the age-predicted by the $Λ$CDM model. However, it is an improved res…
In this work, we study two scenarios of the Universe filled by a perfect fluid following the traditional dark energy and a viscous fluid as dark matter. In this sense, we explore the simplest case for the viscosity in the Eckart formalism, a constant, and then, a polynomial function of the redshift. We constrain the phase-space of the model parameters by performing a Bayesian analysis based on Markov Chain Monte Carlo method and using the latest data of the Hubble parameter (OHD), Type Ia Supernovae (SNIa) and Strong Lensing Systems. The first two samples cover the region $0.01<z<2.36$. Based …
Evolution of the bulk viscous matter dominated universe has been analysed using the full causal, Israel-Stewart theory for the evolution of bulk viscous pressure in the context of recent acceleration of the universe. The form of bulk viscosity is taken as $ξ=αρ^{1/2}. $ We obtained analytical solutions for the Hubble parameter and scale factor of the universe. The model parameters have been computed using the Type Ia supernovae observational data. The evolution of the prominent cosmological parameters were obtained. The age of the universe for the best estimated model parameters is found to be…
In this paper, we have investigated a bulk viscous anisotropic Universe and constrained its model parameters with recent $H(z)$ and Pantheon compilation data. Using cosmic chronometric technique, we estimate the present value of Hubble's constant as $H_{0} = 69.39 \pm 1.54~km~s^{-1}Mpc^{-1}$, $70.016 \pm 1.65~km~s^{-1}Mpc^{-1}$ and $69.36 \pm 1.42~km~s^{-1}Mpc^{-1}$ by bounding our derived model with recent $H(z)$ data, Pantheon and joint $H(z)$ and Pantheon data respectively. The present age of the Universe is specified as $t_0= 0.9796H_0^{-1}\sim 13.79$ Gyrs. The model favours a transitionin…

We discuss the possibility to implement a viscous cosmological model, attributing to the dark matter component a behaviour described by bulk viscosity. Since bulk viscosity implies negative pressure, this rises the possibility to unify the dark sector. At the same time, the presence of dissipative effects may alleviate the so called small scale problems in the $Λ$CDM model. While the unified viscous description for the dark sector does not lead to consistent results, the non-linear behaviour indeed improves the situation with respect to the standard cosmological model.
In a spatially flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker universe, we investigate a unified cosmic fluid scenario endowed with bulk viscosity in which the coefficient of the bulk viscosity has a power law evolution. The power law in the bulk viscous coefficient is a general case in this study which naturally includes several choices as special cases. Considering such a general bulk viscous scenario, in the present work we have extracted the observational constraints using the latest cosmological datasets and examine their behaviour at the level of both background and perturbations. From the obs…
We use the hybrid model of bulk viscosity and generalized chaplygin gas (GCG), named the viscous generalized chaplygin gas (VGCG) model, which is thought to be an alternate dark fluid of the universe. We explore the dynamics of the VGCG model in the framework of the non-metricity $f(Q)$ gravity using the functional form $f(Q)=βQ^n$, where $β$ and $n$ are arbitrary constants. For the purpose of constraining model parameters, we use recent observational datasets such as Observational Hubble data, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations, and Type $Ia$ supernovae data. According to our study, the evolution o…
The authors considered the bulk viscous fluid in $f(R, T)$ gravity within the framework of Kaluza-Klein space time. The bulk viscous coefficient $(ξ)$ expressed as $ξ=ξ_0+ξ_1\frac{\dot{a}}{a}+ξ_2\frac{\ddot{a}}{\dot{a}}$, where $ξ_0$, $ξ_1$ and $ξ_2$ are positive constants. We take $p=(γ-1)ρ$, where $0\leγ\le2$ as an equation of state for perfect fluid. The exact solutions to the corresponding field equations are given by assuming a particular model of the form of $f(R, T)=R+2f(T)$, where $f(T)=λT$, $λ$ is constant. We studied the cosmological model in two stages, in first stage: we studied th…
In this paper, we have proposed a model of accelerating Universe with binary mixture of bulk viscous fluid and dark energy. and probed the model parameters: present values of Hubble's constant $H_{0}$, Equation of state paper of dark energy $ω_{de}$ and density parameter of dark energy $(Ω_{de})_{0}$ with recent OHD as well as joint Pantheon compilation of SN Ia data and OHD. Using cosmic chronometric technique, we obtain $H_{0} = 69.80 \pm 1.64~km~s^{-1}Mpc^{-1}$ and $70.0258 \pm 1.72~km~s^{-1}Mpc^{-1}$ by restricting our derived model with recent OHD and joint Pantheon compilation SN Ia data…
A dissipative model of the Universe based on the causal relativistic truncated Israel-Stewart theory is analysed in the context of recent accelerated expansion of the Universe. The bulk viscosity and relaxation time are taken as $ξ=αρ^s$ and $τ=\fracα{εγ(2-γ)}ρ^{s-1}$ respectively. For $s=1/2,$ we found an analytical solution for the Hubble parameter of the model. We have estimated the model parameters by treating $γ=1$ and $γ$ as a free parameter using the latest cosmological data. The model predicts a prior decelerated phase and an end de Sitter phase as in the standard $Λ$CDM model. The dyn…
The estimation of parameters of generalized cosmic Chaplygin gas and viscous modified Chaplygin gas and Accretions around Black Hole in the background of Einstein-Aether gravity
We study the static and spherically symmetric wormhole spacetime configurations at present time in a viscous universe. Considering three classes of viscous models, i.e., bulk viscosity as a function of Hubble constant $H_0$, present cosmic temperature $T_0$ and dark energy density $ρ_0$, respectively, we obtain several wormhole solutions. Through the analysis for the anisotropic solutions, we conclude that, to some extent, these three classes of viscous models have very high degeneracy with each other, and deviate slightly from the ideal fluid consequence. Subsequently, without the loss of gen…
This paper reports a study on the truncated Israel-Stewart formalism for bulk viscosity using the extended holographic Ricci dark energy (EHRDE), where the density of dark energy is given as a combination of the Hubble parameter and its derivative. The equations of motion are integrated and the resulting model is analysed under many aspects, including the state finder parameters and the generalised thermodynamics second law. Under the consideration that the universe is dominated by EHRDE the evolution equation for the bulk viscous pressure $Π$ in the framework of the truncated Israel-Stewart t…
We consider a cosmological model dominated by bulk viscous matter with total bulk viscosity coefficient proportional to the velocity and acceleration of the expansion of the universe in such a way that $ζ=ζ_{0}+ζ_{1}\frac{\dot{a}}{a}+ζ_{2}\frac{\ddot{a}}{\dot{a}}.$ We show that there exist two limiting conditions in the bulk viscous coefficients, ($ζ_{0}$, $ζ_{1}$, $ζ_{2}$) which corresponds to a universe having a Big-Bang at the origin, followed by an early decelerated epoch and then making a smooth transition into an accelerating epoch. We have constrained the model using the type Ia Superno…

In this paper it has been shown that the neutrino bulk viscous stresses can give rise to the late time acceleration of the universe. It is found that a number of spatially flat FRW models with a negative deceleration parameter can be constructed using neutrino viscosity and one of them mimics a $Λ$CDM model. This does not require any exotic dark energy component or any modification of gravity.
We consider an effective viscous pressure as the result of a backreaction of inhomogeneities within Buchert's formalism. The use of an effective metric with a time-dependent curvature radius allows us to calculate the luminosity distance of the backreaction model. This quantity is different from its counterpart for a "conventional" spatially flat bulk viscous fluid universe. Both expressions are tested against the SNIa data of the Union2.1 sample with only marginally different results for the distance-redshift relation and in accordance with the $Λ$CDM model. Future observations are expected t…
Inspired by thermodynamical dissipative phenomena, we consider bulk viscosity for dark fluid in a spatially flat two-component Universe. Our viscous dark energy model represents Phantom crossing avoiding Big-Rip singularity. We propose a non-minimal derivative coupling scalar field with zero potential leading to accelerated expansion of Universe in the framework of bulk viscous dark energy model. In this approach, coupling constant ($κ$) is related to viscosity coefficient ($γ$) and energy density of dark energy at the present time ($Ω_{\rm DE}^0$). This coupling is bounded as $κ\in [-1/9H_0^2…
Dissipative features of dark matter affect its clustering properties and could lead to observable consequences for the evolution of large--scale structure. We analyse the evolution of cold dark matter density perturbations allowing for the possibility of bulk viscous pressure in a causal dissipative theory. Our analysis employs a Newtonian approximation for cosmological dynamics and the transport properties of bulk viscosity are described by the Israel--Stewart theory. We obtain a third order evolution equation for density perturbations. For some parameter values the density contrast can be su…
