We apply the gravity-thermodynamics conjecture, namely the first law of thermodynamics on the Universe horizon, but using the generalized Kaniadakis entropy instead of the standard Bekenstein-Hawking one. The former is a one-parameter generalization of the classical Boltzmann-Gibbs-Shannon entropy, arising from a coherent and self-consistent relativistic statistical theory. We obtain new modified cosmological scenarios, namely modified Friedmann equations, which contain new extra terms that constitute an effective dark energy sector depending on the single model Kaniadakis parameter $K$. We investigate the cosmological evolution, by extracting analytical expressions for the dark energy density and equation-of-state parameters and we show that the Universe exhibits the usual thermal history, with a transition redshift from deceleration to acceleration at around 0.6. Furthermore, depending on the value of $K$, the dark energy equation-of-state parameter deviates from $Λ$CDM cosmology at small redshifts, while lying always in the phantom regime, and at asymptotically large times the Universe always results in a dark-energy dominated, de Sitter phase. Finally, even in the case where we do not consider an explicit cosmological constant the resulting cosmology is very interesting and in agreement with the observed behavior.
By using the holographic hypothesis and Kaniadakis generalized entropy, which is based on relativistic statistical theory and modified Boltzmann-Gibbs entrory, we build Kaniadakis holographic dark energy (DE) model in the Brans-Dicke framework. We drive cosmological parameters of Kaniadakis holographic DE model, with IR cutoff as the Hubble horizon, in order to investigate its cosmological consequences. Our study shows that, even in the absence of an interaction between the dark sectors of cosmos, the Kaniadakis holographic dark energy model with the Hubble radius as IR cutoff can explain the …
We construct a holographic dark energy scenario based on Kaniadakis entropy, which is a generalization of Boltzmann-Gibbs entropy that arises from relativistic statistical theory and is characterized by a single parameter $K$ which quantifies the deviations from standard expressions, and we use the future event horizon as the Infrared cutoff. We extract the differential equation that determines the evolution of the effective dark energy density parameter, and we provide analytical expressions for the corresponding equation-of-state and deceleration parameters. We show that the universe exhibit…
In this paper, by considering the complex form of the quintessence model, we study two different dynamic structures of holographic dark energy as Tsallis and Kaniadakis in the framework Brans-Dicke cosmology. In each setup, we employ non-interacting and interacting cases and calculate some cosmological parameters such as the equation of state $ω$. We also discuss the $ ω- ω'$ behavior. By modifying the potential and studying the scalar field dynamics, we examine the complex quintessence cosmology. In addition, considering the two parts of the quintessence field effects, i.e., real and complex,…
We study the scenario of Kanadiakis horizon entropy cosmology which arises from the application of the gravity-thermodynamics conjecture using the Kaniadakis modified entropy. The resulting modified Friedmann equations contain extra terms that constitute an effective dark energy sector. We use data from Cosmic chronometers, Supernova Type Ia, HII galaxies, Strong lensing systems, and Baryon acoustic oscillations observations and we apply a Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo analysis to construct the likelihood contours for the model parameters. We find that the Kaniadakis parameter is constrain…
We propose a new four-parameter entropy function that generalizes the Tsallis, Rényi, Barrow, Sharma-Mittal, Kaniadakis and Loop Quantum Gravity entropies for suitable limits of the parameters. Consequently, we address the early and late universe cosmology corresponding to the proposed four-parameter entropy function. As a result, it turns out that the entropic cosmology from the generalized entropy function can unify the early inflation to the late dark energy era of the universe. In such a unified scenario, we find that -- (1) the inflation era is described by a quasi de-Sitter evolution of …
We propose a new entropy construct that generalizes the Tsallis, Rényi, Sharma-Mittal, Barrow, Kaniadakis, and Loop Quantum Gravity entropies and reduces to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy in a certain limit. This proposal is applied to the Schwarzschild black hole and to spatially homogeneous and isotropic cosmology, where it is shown that it can potentially describe inflation and/or holographic dark energy.
We investigate the validity of the generalized second law of gravitational thermodynamics on the apparent and event horizons in a non-flat FRW universe containing the interacting dark energy with dark matter. We show that for the dynamical apparent horizon, the generalized second law is always satisfied throughout the history of the universe for any spatial curvature and it is independent of the equation of state parameter of the interacting dark energy model. Whereas for the cosmological event horizon, the validity of the generalized second law depends on the equation of state parameter of th…
The growing interest of different entropy functions proposed so far (like the Bekenstein-Hawking, Tsallis, Rényi, Barrow, Sharma-Mittal, Kaniadakis and Loop Quantum Gravity entropies) towards black hole thermodynamics as well as towards cosmology lead to the natural question that whether there exists a generalized entropy function that can generalize all these known entropies. With this spirit, we propose a new 4-parameter entropy function that seems to converge to the aforementioned known entropies for certain limits of the entropic parameters. The proposal of generalized entropy is extended …
We consider an alternative to inflation for the generation of superhorizon perturbations in the universe in which the speed of sound is faster than the speed of light. We label such cosmologies, first proposed by Armendariz-Picon, {\it tachyacoustic}, and explicitly construct examples of non-canonical Lagrangians which have superluminal sound speed, but which are causally self-consistent. Such models possess two horizons, a Hubble horizon and an acoustic horizon, which have independent dynamics. Even in a decelerating (non-inflationary) background, a nearly scale-invariant spectrum of perturba…
We construct an explicit class of dynamic lorentzian wormholes connecting Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) spacetimes. These wormholes can allow two-way transmission of signals between spatially separated regions of spacetime and could permit such regions to come into thermal contact. The cosmology of a network of early Universe wormholes is discussed.
We construct modified cosmological scenarios through the application of the first law of thermodynamics in the universe horizon, but using the generalized, nonextensive Tsallis entropy instead of the usual Bekenstein-Hawking one. We result to modified cosmological equations that possess the usual ones as a particular limit, but which in the general case contain extra terms that appear for the first time, that constitute an effective dark energy sector quantified by the nonextensive parameter $δ$. When the matter sector is dust, we extract analytical expressions for the dark energy density and …
We present modified cosmological scenarios that arise from the application of the "gravity-thermodynamics" conjecture, using the Barrow entropy instead of the usual Bekenstein-Hawking one. The former is a modification of the black hole entropy due to quantum-gravitational effects that deform the black-hole horizon by giving it an intricate, fractal structure. We extract modified cosmological equations which contain new extra terms that constitute an effective dark-energy sector, and which coincide with the usual Friedmann equations in the case where the new Barrow exponent acquires its Bekenst…
We apply the complex de Broglie-Bohm formulation of quantum mechanics [1] to a spatially closed homogeneous and isotropic early Universe whose matter content are radiation and dust perfect fluids. We then show that an expanding classical Universe can emerge from an oscillating (with complex scale factor) quantum Universe without singularity. Furthermore, the Universe obtained in this process has no horizon or flatness problems.
In the realm of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, the thermodynamics of apparent horizon bridges with the usual FLRW (Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker) equation only for a special case where the matter field is given by a perfect fluid having equation of state (EoS) parameter $= -1$, i.e $p = -ρ$ with $ρ$ and $p$ represent the energy density and the pressure of the fluid, respectively. To include the case $p \neq -ρ$, we consider the modification of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy in the present work. In particular, we develop an entropy function that leads to the usual FLRW equations, for a $…
Motivated by the old trans-Planckian (TP) problem of inflationary cosmology, it has been conjectured that any consistent effective field theory should keep TP modes `hidden' behind the Hubble horizon, so as to prevent them from turning classical and thereby affecting macroscopic observations. In this paper we present two arguments against the Hubble horizon being a scale of singular significance as has been put forward in the TP Censorship Conjecture (TCC). First, refinements of TCC are presented that allow for the TP modes to grow beyond the horizon while still keeping the de-Sitter conjectur…
Using Tsallis statistics and its relation with Boltzmann entropy, the Tsallis entropy content of black holes is achieved, a result in full agreement with a recent study (Phys. Lett. B 794, 24 (2019)). In addition, employing Kaniadakis statistics and its relation with that of Tsallis, the Kaniadakis entropy of black holes is obtained. The Sharma-Mittal and Rényi entropy contents of black holes are also addressed by employing their relations with Tsallis entropy. Thereinafter, relying on the holographic dark energy hypothesis and the obtained entropies, two new holographic dark energy models are…
Applying Clausius relation with energy-supply defined by the unified first law of thermodynamics formalism to the apparent horizon of a massive cosmological model proposed lately, the corrected entropic formula of the apparent horizon is obtained with the help of the modified Friedmann equations. This entropy-area relation, together with the identified internal energy, verifies the first law of thermodynamics for the apparent horizon with a volume change term for consistency. On the other hand, by means of the corrected entropy-area formula and the Clausius relation $δQ=T dS$, the modified Fri…
In this paper, we study thermodynamical properties of the apparent horizon in a universe governed by quasi-topological gravity. Our aim is twofold. First, by using the variational method we derive the general form of Friedmann equation in quasi-topological gravity. Then, by applying the first law of thermodynamics on the apparent horizon, after using the entropy expression associated with the black hole horizon in quasi-topological gravity, and replacing the horizon radius, $r_{+}$, with the apparent horizon radius, $\tilde{r}_{A}$, we derive the corresponding Friedmann equation in quasi-topol…
In a recent paper we developed a string cosmology background from classical string geometry. Here, we show that this background yields a solution to the size and horizon problems of Standard Big Bang cosmology while remaining compatible with the Transplanckian Censorship Conjecture. We also take a first look at the evolution of cosmological perturbations in this model.
We propose a new five-parameter entropy function that proves to be singular-free during the entire cosmic evolution of the universe, and at the same time, also generalizes the Tsallis, Barrow, Rényi, Sharma-Mittal, Kaniadakis and Loop Quantum Gravity entropies for suitable limits of the parameters. In particular, all the above mentioned known entropies become singular (or diverge) when the Hubble parameter vanishes in course of the universe's evolution (for instance, in bounce cosmology at the instant of bounce), while the newly proposed entropy function seems to be singular-free even at $H = …
We investigate the holographic quantum entanglement of a visible universe in an inflationary cosmology. To do so, we consider an AdS space with a dS boundary which represents an expanding space in time. In an inflationary cosmology, there exists a natural entangling surface called a cosmic event horizon which divides a universe into visible and invisible parts. In this model, cosmic event horizon monotonically decreases and approaches a constant value proportional to the inverse of Hubble constant. We show that the quantum entanglement between the visible and invisible universes divided by cos…
It is shown that the differential form of Friedmann equations of FRW universe can be recast as a similar form of the first law, $T_{h}dS_{h} = dE + WdV$, of thermodynamics at the apparent horizon of FRW universe filled with the viscous fluid. It is also shown that the generalized second law of thermodynamics holds at the apparent horizon of FRW universe and preserves dominant energy condition.
In general relativity, a gravitational horizon (more commonly known as the "apparent horizon") is an imaginary surface beyond which all null geodesics recede from the observer. The Universe has an apparent (gravitational) horizon, but unlike its counterpart in the Schwarzschild and Kerr metrics, it is not static. It may eventually turn into an event horizon---an asymptotically defined membrane that forever separates causally connected events from those that are not---depending on the equation of state of the cosmic fluid. In this paper, we examine how and why an apparent (gravitational) horizo…
